NFC issues since march update? - Nokia 7.1 Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
Since the March update, I've been unable to use my phone to pay at my customer's lunch counter (which I'd been doing for months with the same app).
There aren't that many opportunities for me to pay by NFC, so I'm not totally sure if it's really a problem on my phone and not on the terminal or unrelated, but:
- the app works for payments via QR code and via web
- the terminal works (obviously) with bank cards
I'll try to test paying at my single other shop where I've been able to pay consistently with NFC, but until I've tried that: has anyone else been experiencing NFC issues since the March update?

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm paying with my phone successfully after the March update. Maybe it's a isolated issue. I'm crossing fingers for easy solution.
Sent from my Nokia 7.1 using Tapatalk

Tried again at another shop and same issue.
Will reinstall app and try again. ARGH! The hoops we jump through to remain at the forefront of technology!

[100$ Bounty] Radio Fix

Hi Guys,
It is been a more than a month and I still cant use my Play because of the OTA update that bricked the mobile then I did the 1st update from the forum which bricked the radio.
So I am ready to pay 100 $ to whoever fix the radio issue within a week.
Best Regards..
well ive ready donated
20 dollars to get blagus a xperia play so he can do some research
but he is on vacaction atm
but as soon as he is back he should be on the case
as its been about a month for me to
im getting tired of having to carry 2 phones around with me
and i dnt know wot the deal is with companies not bieng able to issue unlock codes either
afew ppl managed to get theres unlocked by fastgsm,
but then it all got stopped?
The online unlock services (like Fastgsm etc.) use a ServerUnlock via EMMA, if their server ist down, the service is down too.
It seems that all S1 UnlockServers are down atm.
Regards
The thing is the server is down since a month ago and I've been asking them when it is coming back and they have no Idea about it :/
it does seem very strange that a server would be down for so long?
a week yes 2 maybe but this long is an absolute joke
call me a conspiracy theorist but some thing just doesnt seem right.
just had an email off fastgsm saying that,
x10 unlocking is back online and more devices are to follow
but the service has jumped up to $49.99 ????
was only $9.99 last time
It is the same $50 for the USB Fix but for the IMEI Fix which will not work in our scenario is $10
The one week is for the bounty is finished. So it looks like there is still no solution. Anyways am going on vacation till 3rd of august and I wished to use my mobile there but it looks like I am going to die with my old slow stupid milestone

Need ADVICE!! Please help.

I lost my phone last night in a yellow cab in NYC.
I had the tasker setup to locate phone when i text it a certain mssg.
I tried this morning to track down my phone but the taxi was all over the place and its nearly impossible to get my phone because even when it did stop moving...the adress it gave me was a large apt building and theres no way i can get my phone back even if i do know its in the building somewhere.....
I need any advice i can get please.
I would get in touch with the cab company.
Walk into the apartment with dual Uzis and go door-to-door until someone looks scared ****less. No, but seriously, just call the cab company, ask if anyone used the cab to arrive at that apartment or near the area, then yeah, how you confront them I'm not too sure.

The worst part about this is knowing where it is and knowing i have a limited amount of time to find it before its gone forever...and as far as i can see i think its still in the cab as ive been tracking the phone by gps and its been all over the city....I just dont know the cab medallion number and its nearly impossible to catch this cab driving around in the city.
I don't know if tasker gives you network or GPS location. There is an app called lookout plan b. You can install it from market.android.com from a computer onto your phone remotely and locate your phone with GPS. If that's more accurate, that may help you track it down easier.

Yes Entropy ive tried many times and at first it just seemed that it was still in the back of the cab unnoticed as no one was picking up. I went online and suspended my service and i also know now that the battery has died since my gps location isnt responding anymore and when tried to call goes straight to voicemail now.
One thing is that i checked my call log online and noticed there was a 911 call made from the phone yesterday at around 7pm. The phone is locked so he must have either tried to get in thru the emergency call or called 911 to report the missing phone.
Either way i called the 2 precincts in Manhattan that receive lost items and claim nothing was brought in. It seems to me that even if it was, they would not want to tell me anyway, and are really rude.
I lost my chance of finding the phone as it is dead now and the service has been cancelled. maybe if someone tries to charge it up and turns it on i can try to track it again.
I had no insurance on the phone. But i did pay for the phone with my american express gold card and they have a protection plan that covers stolen/ accidental damage till 90 days after purchase. I sent a claim to them so hopefully they will reimburse me the money paid . Then i called ATT to mail me another sim card to my house. My brother has an upgrade and i spoke to the rep and he said i can do a cross upgrade where i can get a phone for the upgrade price without having his line added to a data plan as well.
In the end i might get the same phone back for free but with having another line on my family plan under a 2 year contract. I loved that phone a lot...running your kernel and unnamed. Even if i get the same phone again...idk if it will be the same for me lol.
Also im so stupid i didnt have any nandroid backups on my comp and were only on my sd card. lucky i had titanium backup stored in my dropbox so that is good.
Also lookout for android is ****. After i realized i had lost it...i upgraded to lookout premium for 14 days free trial and tried to lock and wipe my phone. didnt work. tried to locate my phone using that as it stated it might be more accurate. didnt work. tried to use the scream function. didnt work. nothing worked and i tried searching forums and i think a lot of ppl have problems with it not working... I should have tested it out before i actually needed it.
Also thank god for 1.3.1 update that fixed the lock screen issue that i installed a couple days ago...otherwise all my info was just out in the open....im still worried tho...wish the stupid wipe function worked.

GPS has stopped working

I've had my Lumia 800 for a few weeks, however I cant get a GPS fix anymore. Using bing maps, Navigon, Nokia Drive; whichever app I use I cant get any fix whatsoever regardless of how long I try. I can get a fix from the GSM towers but not from the GPS device itself.
I’ve used GPS programs from the marketplace which concur the result, it says that it has attained a fix from the a-GPS but then never gets a fix from the satellite.
Anyone know of a fix? Tried calling Nokia support but they say a firmware fix 'may' get it working again...which I doubt as no-one else seems to be having this same problem
Nokia navigation is still online applications so you need active data connection.
Tried resetting the phone back to its original state?
Tried resetting to factory defaults by going into >>>settings>>>about.
But still no luck.
I understand you need a internet connection for the maps application... however my phone cant get a GPS lock, on nokia drive it routes fine its just that its sporadic as there is no GPS fix and its using a-GPS (GSM Towers) to navigate me.
Think its a hardware fault??
Same problem here
Hi, I have the same exact problem, did you solve it already?
I have a data plan and the gps stopped working without any reason. It won´t work in any app. I´ve been with the phone for a month now.
Thank you.
No its not fixed, I phoned Nokia and they said wait for the next firmware update and if it still does not work they will replace the handset.
You can always force the update with Care Suite, since you've already wiped, you've not got much to lose.
Thanks for answering, guess I´ll take mine to the store tomorrow...not very sure to get a brand new one though.
Just tried a forced Nokia firmware update via NDC and though the firmware and software has been upgraded the GPS still does not work. so will have to call Nokia Care tomorrow.
Sounds like a hardware fault then.
Well, my odyssey begins...neither Nokia or the carrier are going to substitute my faulty phone.
They´ll have to send it to the technicians...
Prior to send it I´m going to wait until the battery drains, and fully charge it again. To see if it magically begins to work properly...
Well Nokia are coming to collect my device on Monday to replace the GPS unit within the device they say its a 7day turn-around.
I went to a Nokia dealer and to VODAFONE. Both said they would collect the phone and send it to me "fixed in 15 - 20 days"...but before giving my unit, I´ve written Nokia Care an email in order to see if they are willing to give a new one.
I´m expecting an answer from Nokia Care this week...
Will keep you informed anyway...
---------- Post added at 01:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:00 AM ----------
Just a quick question...are you formatting your device before giving it to Nokia? There´s a lot of personal info in these devices...
Guess I´ll wipe mine. The problem is that WP can´t export contact info to SIM card so i have a hard task getting all the contacts in for a substitute phone
Stick your contacts on Google/Live and they'll just appear when you sign into a Windows/Android phone.
Okay just had my Nokia Lumia 800 replaced by Nokia Care for the GPS issues....and a 3 day turn around time! Can you believe it???
I am so thrilled with the care and support i received and am not not worried about purchasing furture Nokia phones due to the after-support.
PS. They took my old unit and returned to me a brand spanking new device! Thrilled to say the least.
My GPS suddenly started working today as nothing happened without nobody touching it. Can´t understand a thing.
Hope it stays that way for a long time...

SIM-free gti9300 no sound in calls bug

Not bumped older threads as they have gone off-topic etc.
I bought a sim-free S3 from Phone4U in the UK on 23rd June 2012 for £599.
It has been working fine and I have (for once in my life!) kept it stock and unrooted.
Two days ago, after no trauma or damage, I noticed that calls were seeming to fail. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the call was seeming to connect but there was no sound from speaker or earpiece and the recipient could not hear me either.
It did occasionally work on the odd call and so I thought it might be a software bug perhaps with the modem.
I did a factory reset using Kies and still no joy.
I tested a different SIM; I tried the different solutions contained within the older posts on here and still nothing.
I was not going to flash anything custom as I did not want to risk voiding the warranty this time around.
I can assure you that I tried everything else.
Nothing worked and so I took the phone to Phones4U. I only started dealing with them this year and have been pleasantly surprised by how helpful they can be (compared to the once-great CPW). They told me to call their headoffice and see if they would give me a "swap code" for a new phone. The usual limit is one month from purchase for this but the shop assistant said it was worth a go. He also told me that the alternative would be for the phone to be sent off for repair under warranty but this would take about a month.
I called headoffice but they said repair or nothing. They said that it would only take 10 days from them receiving it.
I took the phone to the shop again tonight to be sent off. That's 29th August.
I was wanting to let others with this odd bug know that there are others out there with this issue and that repair is looking like the only way.
I will keep you up to date as to what happens.
This Bug Is also present in other s3 even my call used to get connected but no sound at either end i fixed it by flashing an older modem of my phone in india as the bug started after the update try different modems one will surely work flash a modem of ur country and try

Quite so but I did not want to void my warranty. £599 is a lot of money. Also, frankly, we shouldn't have to fix problems of the manufacturer's making. This phone was stock all the way. The bug is a result of either a hardware fault (as most others with this problem seem to have found) or a software bug that wasn't then fixed by sammy. That's no good.
What is a little irksome is that it provides smug Applesheep the chance to boast loudly about something they do have that we do not: a product whose manufacturer is on the high street and will not leave you phoneless for a month. But, you pays your money, you takes your choice.
The S3 is still a class-beater for now. The iPhone 5 will have to go some to compete.

Nexus 6P bootloop issue

Hello Everyone,
I want to share my expericence with Google Nexus 6P phone which I bought from Amazon on April 11, 2016. Unfortunate for me and fortunate for Huwaei that the device's warranty expired on July 1, 2017 (only 15 days ago). I have installed an Andriod update on July 10, 2017 and two days after my device went down and not booting up which is commonly known as bootloop issue. Even the same thing happened in recovery mode. First thing I did is contacting Huwaei support line (16th July) and asked them to help me fix this issue. In response, they created a ticket (gave me that ticket #) and assured that I will informed once two companies together will find a solution they will let me know (don't know when). They addmitted that it is not customer's fault at all but then iterated their warrenty policy said that device cannot be replaced. 5-10 times I heard the same thing from support person on the call.
After this conversation, I dropped an email to their support group showing how much annoyed and betrayed I was feeling. Got the same response on the email and you won't believe they suggest me to contact a third party technician to fix this. This is a problem with OS, how can any repair shop person can fix such an issue which Google and Huwaei are not able fix working together.
After such an awesome response from Huawei customer service, I tried google support as they are the one pushing updates to our devices. Google said that they would have replaced this device if I have bought this from a Google Store (even if its out of warranty). They mentioned that Huwaei should be able to do the same and warranty period should not matter for issues which is not customers fault infact customer is completely unaware of this.
I again called Huawei support and asked the support to escalate the case and share my situation with their senior management and help to fix my current device or get me a new one. I may be getting the same answer in next couple of days and I still have some hope. Let see what comes out.

Any updates - did they replace your phone?

I've been trying but my bootloader is locked and I've tired heating it so that if boots at least once I can turn on Developer options and eventually the OEM unlock settings but I can't, so I'm stuck with the bootloop. Someone suggested calling the credit card company to see if they offer an automatic extended warranty on purchases and it looks like mine does (Discover Card in the US). Just called it in and I'll see if they'll replace, it since I'm past the 12 month warranty,
