I guess there is nothing wrong in reading facts!
-Base Of the ROM & Version?
->Rom is based on AOSP. Verison is updated monthly.
-Why no "Incremental/Delta updates" Support?
->Actually the updates we provide monthly are heavily changed and modified than the previous builds. New stuff is merged and added. So we don't provide incremental updates and recommend a clean flash.
-Does this ROM Support Substratum?
->Google killed Substratum support in Pie. You can use it, however, you need to be rooted. We don't support rootless Substratum.
-Which Gapps are recommended?
->OpenGapps
-How do I root this ROM?
->We recommend Magisk
-Will this ROM relock the bootloader?
->No.
-What about XPOSED?
->XPOSED is still in beta stage. We like Xposed but it messes up with the system so before giving any bug reports make sure you have Xposed uninstalled.

I've never ever used AEX on any of my previous devices, so I was happy to try it :highfive:
Everything is nice and smooth, the only 2 things so far that don't work are:
Waking device via Volume Rocker - even though I selected the option in Settings it does absolutely nothing. RR + BTL are the same though, so I'm guessing it's device specific?
Waking device via Home button - that works on RR + BTL, so I think it should work here too.
Other than that I like it, also it has more free ram than the other 2 :victory:
If you could fix that Home button ... I really miss that, it's so much easier to wake the device with it compared to the tiny On button
Thank you for a great rom

Thanks for your feedback.
Waking device via Volume Rocker kind of work for me (it depends how long the screen is off).
Wake on home button I will try to figure out. I can't remember if it works on my AICP build. I don't know why it doesn't work on this rom and works on Bootleggers rom. The sources are pretty musch the same with the exception of AEX specific changes.

Waking device via Volume rocker never worked for me (on this device) on any rom, even though it's enabled in Settings ... no idea if I'm missing something there
I also just noticed that AEX has the same Ambient Display bug as the others: While it does show the email received you can't interact with it. It's supposed to be "swipeable" to dismiss or "tappable" to open the app (in this case K9 Mail), but that doesn't work - same as in RR + BTL.
I'm sure it's all stuff that can get sorted though :fingers-crossed:

Yes, I just found that out too - but it's for a VERY short period of time, maybe 2 or 3 seconds ... anything more and it doesn't react to the volume rocker any more. How odd

That's fine, so is @BADA 187 - but you're both doing a great job already :good:
Maybe he'll know why the Home button won't unlock the screen, it works on his rom :fingers-crossed:

I built the sources for that and it works on my build. I actually modified @followmsi's LineageOS 16 sources for both roms.

Yea, I saw your post in his thread ... how odd then that it works there and not here :silly:
The power button is so tiny and I always have the tablet sitting on my left side on the desk, so the Home button is much easier to reach + press. Oh well, for a 1st release it's still great and I like that it uses less ram ... I'll stay with it for a while (sorry Bada  )

Those commits have already been integrated into the source. My file matches bootleggers file. Home button doesn't work in AICP.

I love AEX.....thanks for bringing it to the Tab. It's my go-to on my Pixel 3 XL.

Cool, thank you :highfive:
Did you have any luck with the Home button not waking the device? I asked a friend of mine, one of the AEX maintainers, to take a look and she said a fix is possible albeit difficult lol. I think (hope) she poked you :fingers-crossed:
Edit: Dirty flashed over previous version, all good. But yea, Home button not working yet and Volume buttons only wake the device within a few seconds of turning off the screen. Eventually those will work too :confident look:
Thanks again :good:

You're welcome ! Regarding your first question i personally don't recommend microG for stability, but if you want to use it go ahead . And mobile standby in 11 hours it drained me 3% so it might be fine for you as well

I'm waiting for AFH approval to upload there. Until then builds will be uploaded to transfer.sh . Try canceling download and starting again, that should fix the slow download speed.
Trying this out. Thanks!!
Great rom!
Very speedy, all works so far. I like it very much and will test it some more days.
Thank you very much for this masterpiece
There is no remote control in this rom.
Also can't remove AEXPapers (maybe other apps too, didn't try) by System app remover.
Would be nice if I can change notification count badge color.
While scroling Playmarket have some lags, which I don't have in stock EUI rom.
When I download apk by built-in Via browser, I cant install it. (celsoazevedo dot com/files/android/google-camera/)
When device turned off and charging, screen is black color but always ON.
Gonna test this rom more.

For removing system apps i use link2sd.
For the other stuff, flash the new blackscreen kernel. No lag, better battery etc.
I find this rom very fluidy with the BlackScreen-4.8-oc-test1

I just give feedback, not trying to fix.
Discovered one more "feature", when I double tap on main screen, dispaly turns off, but I didn't enable this anywhere.
If someone need the remote control:
Flash this in recovery

Tested, works.
Also Dolby Atmos works:

Yes, there's no ir apk, i completely forgot that and system app remover Is not working too, need to see whats wrong. Playmarket doesn't lag for me but Maybe that's kernel related and Will discuss that, but i don't think it'll be fixed for the next build.
Maybe some permissions are missing on the built in browser, just use Chrome ir another browser . Will look into that too, but be patient as I'm a new dev
And the last thing, in order to charge the phone while off it's a driver thing, it's that or we don't have off charge at all.
EDIT: Camera flash works!
For me its very smooth, just 1 thing to add: The battery monitoring doesnt works well for me; Its showing some stats about draining, but it doesnt refresh after a amount of time.. not even after a reboot
Been running this ROM for a few hrs and I have to say it is great.smooth, fast,no lags, good sound,no problems everything I use has worked flawlessly.very good job thanks to everyone involved.

Thanks.
WOW! Thanks for bring AEX back for us. I'll test soon. :victory: :highfive:
Thabks bro <3
Hello Professional_Guider Thank you very much for continuing this ROM first and wish you success. So what are the differences between this ROM and other aex ROMs, for example, how is the battery performance? does FM Radio work? is the camera paranoid camera? can you give us some information? Thank you. I wonder if this is a June security update
I downloaded the ROM and this is what i think:
*I really liked all the Fonts option
*I missed the AEX bootanimation (but this is not a problem at all)
*I always loved that camera App don't know why, but seems to take better photos than the
App in the other AEX 5.5 ROM (Don't know the reason but when u put the phone horizontally
and try to slide between all the option there is a delay, and when u touch one option it
doesn't open or open the one above (with the phone vertically there is no problem)
*In "Recents" the animation when u slide between apps, seems to have a bit high lag (That got
solved when i deactivated the option "Recents background tint" in Extension->Recents->...
*Audio cracking bug is present in this ROM (But Dolby Mod is working)
**For the guy who asked... FM Radio is not working
***Didn't try battery backup with stock kernel, but with PBH if i'm not wrong...battery backup was really good.
P.S:I'm not asking or forcing the dev to do any fix...i'm just saying what i saw so far.
I attach 2 logs...i hope they are useful.
P.S.2:Sorry for my english hehe
Woow thank you very much! I'm going to install it to see how it is

Did you updated from v5.4 or a clean install? Does the camcorder on the native paranoid camera works?
Has anyone a clue how to fix the FM Radio?
Thanks for keep updating it.
I have been using aex rom since its initial build. Thanks @Professional_Guider for bringing back this rom. Right now i am on aex 5.5 official build.

did a clean flash. works fine. phone runs smooth. very smooth. haven't tested it thoroughly. this is my secondary device.
a couple of things i wanna know.
one, how do i disable one sim?
i didn't see the option in settings.
second, for the first time in my life i had to manually set the internet apn in an android phone. for some reason there is no 'pre installed' apn. i tried other sim but none of them had apn. had to manually set it. is this related to rom or problem with network??
Hi bros, I'm having bootloops after clean flashes rom and gapps, flash only rom is booting ok.. any ideas ?

Greetings,
Just installed it.
Great and smooth rom, was nice to do the fingerprint enroll while in the first setup, although for some reason i had to re register them afterwards to make it work.
Also, the notification slider and button backlight aren't working, I tried checking every available setting but i couldn't get them to work.
Thank you for the work and Rom you provided.

Notification slider, backlight button and alert slider are known bugs. Sadly we missed out confirming this while testing. But we are all humans. Anyways, fix coming soon.

Still , the software option gives you the ability to change mod and all volumes at the same time, so it's definitely no big deal.
Will report if anything else arises . Thanks again for the ROM

thank you for this ROM. installing and hoping for the best. what are your plans regarding maintaining this thread. i have seen others started new ROM but then vanished. I understand many of XDA subscribers love trying ROMs but their are a fewer like me who wants a stable release with security patches constantly being provided. i hope you will maintain this for quite some time with at least security patches being provided for longer period of time. Thanks again for this ROM.
Great rom thanks. loses fingerprint recognition after rebooting device.

Happy new year guys:fingers-crossed:
WhatsApp battery drain
I have been using this ROM for last 2 days and noticed that WhatsApp is consuming 40% battery even with minimum usage. I even disabled background use but it was not useful. Is there a way to reduce/optimize WhatsApp usage?
Almost perfect ROM.
I'm back with an update. Device specific changelog is here:
-Double Tap to Wake is fixed
-Alert Slider is fixed
FP is still sketchy, I tried to fix it, but seems like more of a source specific issue to me. Hadn't been able to take a look at the HW buttons lighting up yet, but that's will be fixed soon as well.
I recommend doing a clean flash for the latest build

Try installing a new camera or restarting the phone. I know Camera2 can be kind of buggy so try a new one, like the Moto Cam. There is a copy log feature for when an app crashes. Copy the log and send me the link if you're still having problems. Restarting your phone may help fix it as well. As always, make sure you clean flashed.

It depends on your launcher and other options like Magisk, GApps, or which kernel you use, but in general it performs about the same.

Dear bro Thank you for your response
By the way, I'm using right now RR Oreo Rom v6.2.1 with Moto Camera App from this Thread
I'm using the stock Pixel Oreo Launcher :S and I'm using SuperSU, Default Kernel (the one who comes with RR Oreo Rom) and Stock GApps.
So, do you think if I keep my setup like this I will get about the same performance?? Or do you think I need to modify something (SuperSU --> Magisk ... Change Pixel Launcher to Lawchair ... or something)
And sorry for this question but What Pie ROM do you recommend me??? For example some days ago, COSP Pie Rom was updated

I would recommend using a smaller set of GApps, like Mini. I would recommend you use this ROM because I will be working to fix all bugs and keep this ROM updated in a timely manner.

Big Thanks to you, brother
I will follow your advice, please keep making Harpia better ... I would like to see a Pie ROM almost stable (for daily use) for our Harpia
I'm using SuperSU because it has a PIN security instead of Magisk. Also, I use Encryption and I cannot flash new updates of Magisk because TWRP has a very terrible bug: It cannot decrypt the partitions (system, data, etc), even If I do write the Correct PIN/Password So I cannot flash anything after I encrypt Harpia

Very well, congratulations for the 1st PIE ROM whit VoLTE working and thanks for developed it.
Thanks for the ROM! I'm trying this out and VOLTE is not working for me. It shows the icon for it in the status bar, but all calls are muted/silent. I attached some screenshots that show it being disabled in the Mobile Networks settings page. Also, it says that my SIM card is HD capable in notifications, but I don't know what that means.
Thanks!

In fact I cannot tell you, in nougat and oreo for sure, but in pie don't know
This wasn't able to read my exFAT formatted sdcard correctly. Previous AEX (6.5) worked fine.
Edit: Solved by switching to vfat
overall this rom is great! really smooth, no apparent bugs (besides the SE Linux Permissive, as OP stated). i am glad to see dark mode as an option in the developer tools as well. the only thing i've noticed so far is battery drain, it's more than what i've been experiencing on other updated roms as of late. i do love AEX, thanks for bringing it back!
Just use "Naptime" app in playstore to reduce battery drain drastically ...
Sukram.

I just tested it, Signature Spoofing is enabled.
You can test it by yourself using Sigspoof Checker
I was wondering, because on my Moto G4 PLAY, when I install gapps 9.0 in this ROM, it loops the AEX animation and without it working normally.

One thing I realized is that is consuming a lot of battery, I disabled the GPS and gave an improved, but could give a tip to reduce this consumption I'm loving this rom
Flash L Speed from Magisk. It should improve the battery significantly.

Dear bro, Are you really sure exFAT microSD card doesn't work in this ROM?? Because I have my card formatted in that File System ... exFAT is much better than the old FAT32/vFAT

Other members said that is GPS problem, maybe if you disabled and install L-Speed or FDE.AI the battery level will be better
I haven't used FDE.AI so can't comment but using Battery saver mode on L Speed does increase the overall battery life so I stick with L Speed.
