Xiaomi Mi Box S can't pass-through HD audio formats? - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

From what I've been able to achieve, the Mi Box S appears unable to pass-through neither Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD.
Dolby Digital and regular DTS work fine though.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
Thanks in advance!

yes I have the same problem
have anyone found a fix for it?

DTS/Surround5.1 output via MHL usb to hdmi not working, only stereo, why?

I'm using a LeTV x900 (or Le Max), which sports the Snapdragon 810 as well as USB Type C.
I'm using a USB-C to HDMI MHL adapter (made specifically for this brand of phone) to output audio to my yamaha receiver, as I want to listen to DTS tracks on my home stereo. The receiver sees the HDMI signal from my phone. I use MX Player, which plays the DTS tracks fine (I have the one with DTS support and the right codecs installed), which plays the files just fine. Yet for some reason the receiver is only receiving a stereo signal, so its only giving me 2.0 sound, not see any more than 2 channels in the first place. I'd like to at least play 5.1 (if not 7.1) files. I can't for the life of me figure out what step I'm missing. I even went so far as to install Dolby Atmos on android but that was a no go too. Any ideas?

Honor 7 working with a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter)

Hi folks!
Recently I bought a Honor 7. It works great and you get great value for money.
I couple of days ago I read about using a USB OTG Cable for using a DAC to improve the sound quality (I think the built in sound is not good enough). I have Denon MM400 headphones which needs some power to sound great and the only solution to get great sound is to use a DAC.
This is what I tried:
1. Connect a USB OTG Cable to my Honor 7
2. Connect the DAC (in this case a Audioquest Dragonfly, newest version)
3. Open the app "USB Audio Player" (Demo version)
4. Play a track
As soon as I play a track the phone shuts down and restarts, meanwhile there is a strange sound coming from the USB Port of my phone.
I tried these steps a couple of times before I gave up....
My guess is that the phone does not support the power my DAC needs, but it could also be a problem with the App (USB Audio Player).
Do you guys have any suggestions? Is this a common issue or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks guys!
I found this, I hope it helps. I'd love to see USB OTG DAC on my Honor 7. I think you'd need to edit the file on a rooted phone.
How to enable USB audio policy
To enable USB audio, add an entry to the audio policy configuration file. This is typically located here:
device/oem/codename/audio_policy.conf
The pathname component "oem" should be replaced by the name of the OEM who manufactures the Android device, and "codename" should be replaced by the device code name.
An example entry is shown here:
Code:
audio_hw_modules {
...
usb {
outputs {
usb_accessory {
sampling_rates 44100
channel_masks AUDIO_CHANNEL_OUT_STEREO
formats AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_16_BIT
devices AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_USB_ACCESSORY
}
usb_device {
sampling_rates dynamic
channel_masks dynamic
formats dynamic
devices AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_USB_DEVICE
}
}
inputs {
usb_device {
sampling_rates dynamic
channel_masks AUDIO_CHANNEL_IN_STEREO
formats AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_16_BIT
devices AUDIO_DEVICE_IN_USB_DEVICE
}
}
}
...
}

Hi,
Finaly someone else with the same problem !
Same here with my ampli/DAC JDS Labs C5D... It's not the app but a bug with the Honor 7 according to the team of USB audio Player Pro. I had a couple of emails with their devlopper's team (very kind and dedicated btw, they refunded me after several attemps) but it seems to come from the Honor 7.
So it's seems to be a reccuring problem. It's was the with my Honor 6 !
I believe it wont work without a little messing in the build.prop or even the kernel. At least this was the modus operandi I´ve watched with other devices.
Why don´t you save yourself from the trouble and use a nice dedicated media player? You know you will get a nice quality bump, but on the other hand, you will need to carry a extra device.

Hi everyone! I've read somewhere that Honor 7 doesn't support OTG audio (even if it does support OTG for mass storage). It should depend on Honor/Huawei way to manage the usb output.
Maybe you could try this:
- go into the "secret" menu by typing in the dialer this code: *#*#2846579#*#*
- select: 1. Background settings
- select: 2. USB port settings
- try to change (maybe selecting Google mode)
I haven't tested (cause i haven't any DAC to test with) so i really don't know if it is gonna work or not.
If you'd decide to try, give us a feedback please
Cheers

Hi Nicoquag,
I did what you said but that didn't work... The phone restarts automatically and making a strange sound!
Tried it also with the new AudioQuest Dragonfly BLACK which has compability with phones now, but that doesn't work either...
I am a audiophile geek and I have bought expensive headphones!!! I am thinking of selling it and by an iPhone now...
Tried everything...
Just wanted to let you guys know...
Cheers!

Mmmm that's a pity!
Almost every Honor/Huawei device has problem dealing with otg audio.
Have you tried with other apps instead of USB audio player? For example Onkyo HF player or hiby music (they are both free and made for USB OTG playing).
Hello everyone!
Thank you everyone for your support. Nothing really worked so I bought myself a Fiio X1 for a good price today.
From now on I have a DAP that will do the job for me!
If you guys find a solution to the problem, don't hesitate to share that information with us!
Cheers!

Hello,
I confirm I got my FIIO Q1 working on my honor 7 with hiby music while it is not working with foobar2000. But I also installed Onkyo HF in the same time, and have tried many times with each software alternately before got it working with hiby music.

intel nuc hdmi no sound

any news about making hdmi output sound work?
Not sound HDMI?
Send my HTC ONE M 8 by Tapatalk
I have a problem with the audio also. Installed remix is on windows 10, works great but only audio is send through USB speakers. I really want to redirect it to the usual internal soundcard but I can't seem to get that fixed. Does anybody know a workaround for it? Thanks.
Ditto same problem in Intel Nuc :0) bluetooth works fine but would like to use my surround sound.
Any input greatly appreciated
/S
Any updates on how to enable sound on Intel Nuc? I have the same prob. No sound through HDMi.

Bluetooth codec issue

hi, i have haylou gt1 earphone and when connected to poco f1 it only works in sbs codec, if i try with other devices it always connects with aac, i have tried changing the codec in developer setting but it never sticks, can someone please suggest a solution... btw im on stock miui 10.3.7.0 and would prefer not to flash custom rom just to fix this.
I know there is a magisk module that forces the SBC codec to use high bit-rates.
Other than that, bear in mind that developers settings will apply changes only when a Bluetooth device is connected.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 10 - USB DAC audio keeps pausing

Hi all.
The sound from a USB DAC (iFi Go Link) I bought to use with my MediaPad keeps pausing randomly, introducing a brief gap in playback each time. I installed UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro), to see if it would help, but it hasn't. Sound from the headphone socket works fine, and the DAC works fine with my Sony Xperia phone.
I've noticed in Settings > Device connection, the "USB" entry is greyed out and states "Disconnected", even when the DAC is plugged in and playing music...?
Are there any (tablet) default settings I would need to change to solve the issue? Are there any known issues in using USB DACs with this MediaPad?
Thank you for any help with my issue.
My specific device is BAH2-W19, Build no. BAH2-W19 8.0.0.371(OCEC431).
