[Guide] Best Battery Backup roms for MI5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Updated: 9/17/2019
After trying almost every roms from mm to pie.
i come to this conclusion.
For pie aosp rom i recommend mokee rom because its quite stable, good backup, and frequent updates, overall great for daily driver.
https://download.mokeedev.com/gemini.html
For miui, i recommended, miroom roms, latest stable (10.2.1.0) , good on battery, latest with loads of miui features.

If you dont care for android versions and security update, i highly recommend, mui 8.1.4.0 mm global stable rom, its amazingly fast, stable and best of battery, its underclocked offical rom, so phone doesnt get heated much.

for aosp, i recommend JDC 7.1 older version you will get best battery on this rom. (sorry its not uploaded elsewhere, if someone can upload it, i am happy to update link of it)

i needed such a post thx :d i will try.

its all about battery...difference in roms maybe 1 hour SOT with less optimized roms...android 9 get best SOT then miui 10..first of all try accubattery..5 charges and you will get an idea of your battery life overall..mine from 3000mAh default only has 2000mAh..wich gives me less 2 hours SOT than normal..so i will get 3 hours more or less..that usually we get 5-6 hours SOT on MI 5 without any tweaks..just stock settings..
get a new battery, its my answer..

It will be very hard to get a genuine Xiaomi battery in AliExpress or eBay despicte what they claim, most of them are counterfeit.
I bought a NOHON battery for 10~12 USD and it works very well. This brand is one of the most recommended in AliExpress.

Battery stats MIUI vs CM13 (RN3P)

Can someone tell me why on CM13 or any CM13 based rom is about 10h left of battery on 100% when on MIUI is about 3 days? People said that SOT is similar on both. (8-10h)
CM13 count it in different way?
Thank's

because battery stats on mobile are basically rubbish. Just gauge it based on your own usage. so many things will vary the stats, network strength, screen brightness, vibration strength etc.
Generally I find the battery lasts longer on debloated miui roms, but YMMV
Too big difference. 10h vs 3 days (72h), no way, need to be something more.

Well both are wild guess, on MIUI it is overestimation by OEM, while on CM it just a guess based on battery capacity and current draw. They'll get more accurate overtime, I'd say you need to use it for at least two weeks with normal usage, they'll be more similiar.

Same here for me.
about 2-3 days with stock miui
then only 10 hours with ResurrectionRemix which have issue with the processor.
I will try CM 12.1 by nahz if it's better or going back to stock rom

best battery backup rom ?

Tell me guys which is is your favorite battery backup rom ?
From what I've seen and my own experience I can recommend Tesla or NitrogenOS, you can check them out.
Nitrogenos is best
So nitrogen has the best battery backup ? What about slim or RR ?

i would rather prefer miui 7 stable as i was getting about 10 hours of SOT and more than 1.5day standby in moderate usage....now the usage is same but battery needs a charging twice a day...its pathetic
Miui 7 was definitely better battery than 8,im currently on Lineage OS 14.1 unofficial and its the same as miui7

Battery, SOT less on lineage Os

In comparison to Miui 8.7.7.13 nougat beta rom, I am getting less battery on Lineage Os 7.1.2. any reason why?
SOT on Miui was 8.5 hours
Sot on Los is 7 hours.

I got less than 8 or 9 hours compared to MIUI ,RR , ViperOs & PA which is 10+ hours
If i went to gaming, it goes to 6-7 hours on Lineage.
It felt that despite LOS is smooth and responsive, its quite a sucker in battery life.

GSAM battery monitor will show you what's eating your battery.
Sorry for the inconvenience, Got 9+ Sot on after the second charge. Should have waited a lil' bit more.
Bro is it worth removing stock rom and going with custom?? Just got this phone few days back

If you are in love with MIUI, no. If you don't care about MIUI, maybe yes - the real question is what exactly are you looking for. MIUI is possibly better for camera. SOT should be better with some custom ROMs, but it all depends on how you use your phone.

With the following combination (AOSPEx 0417 build and Helix Engine) I'm getting a minimum of 6.5 hours SOT - I'm not joking...
https://downloads.aospextended.com/...5Y3dwQlNTcEI1VGlUODRDNGtjbXRHVkxUSURSQm9Rbz0=
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamhelix.helixengine
P. S. I don't recommend any newer builds of AOSPEx currently, as the dev switched the kernel to EAS and hasn't tuned it properly yet.
I've included a screenshot of my current SOT, which is 3:20, at 41% battery usage...
please, as the link to build 0417 does not work, if you can put it back or say where it can be found?
Lineage 16 is the best
I tried nitrogen os 9.0 & AOSP extended 9.0 both give me a good battery backup when i use stok eui rom it drine battery 50% before afternoon break but these roms drine just 20%
being 2 rom treble, is it true that a firmware must be installed before the ROM itself? Is the normal Twrp enough?

Yes i tried and it works
The best battery ROMs are often problematic because they cause stumbling in the interface.
I tried the Baikol ROM saying there is a battery saver but I couldn't try the setting because the settings part is in English.
AOSIP ROM is best for me.
I get an average of 4-5 hours of SOT.
You shouldn't expect a miracle anyway, it's a 1 hour SOT difference between all ROMs.
The important thing is that you need to take a look at which one meets your trouble.

I'm using Android 9 pie version.

A case of being overwhelmed by choice (ROMs, Kernels, and more)

Hi guys,
I'm a new Poco user. I've checked out the forums and saw lots of ROMs, Kernels and even Recovery software. I'm a bit overwhelmed for the first time as I'm liking stock MIUI 10 for now. Can someone enlighten me on which ROM has the most features, what ROM is the most stable, which kernels go best with which?
Stability: BaikalOS, Pixel Experience
Powersave: BaikalOS
Customizability / Extra Features: Resurrection Remix, crDroid, Havoc-OS / POSP
Performance: Nitrogen OS, crDroid
Pixel Like: Havoc-OS, Pixel Experience
These are the ones I know but haven't tested all of them. Tell me if I'm missing any.

Wow thanks. Does BaikalOS have the app cloning feature? How good is the battery life compared to MIUI 10?
best kernels
Sphinx and Franco kernel
Best roms
Lineage and stock
Stock is of course the most stable, but the beta builds always have bugs they always remove settings add settings fix something break something.

It doesn't have the app cloning and battery life is a lot better if you manage the background apps strictly but you still have to install it and test it yourself.

There is no best rom or best kernel, it all comes down to personal preference...
Lineage Pie with Franco kernel.
..and go with pixel experience only if u r into very stock version which I think is overrated given its customization limitations.
I have always hated chinese ROMs or apps, take MIUI for example they have like hundreds of apps injected into core system (miui security, miui contacts, miui dialer, miui messaging, miui this that and what not...)

Hi fellow Flip! Yeah I went with Ambasidii rom based on stock MIUI since I need the cloned app feature for ROM (Slave priest). It's rooted and has derp kernel. Battery life is quite a lot better. I was redownloading all my apps overnight and it only drained about 7% of battery life which is 1% more than full stock on idle without WiFi.
By the way, do you do a battery recalibration once you switch roms? Standby time is fantastic on mine but it seems to drain a little harder while playing ROM compared to stock.

There's no need to recalibrated when switching roms. Recommended calibrating your battery ( each month or every three months )
android phones this days use lithium-ion (Li-ion) or lithium-polymer (Li-po) batteries for Poco F1 . This batteries don’t need to be fully discharged, and come with smart chips that make calibration unnecessary and that's the good thing for us.
Just want to share this method , i do this all the time after switching custom roms.
First, drain your phone’s battery completely. Don’t charge it at any point while it’s draining. Let the phone keep working till it shuts itself off. Once the phone has shut itself off, restart it so it shuts off again. Even though the battery was at 0 percent, it has a few reserves left. Now, while the phone is off, charge it to 100 percent. It’s safe to use quick chargers for this, but make sure you hit 100 percent. Once it’s fully charged, unplug it and boot your phone. Android might not say it’s at 100 percent, and that’s okay. In that case, plug the charger again and let it get to 100 percent. then unplug it. This cycle of full drain and recharging lets the chip calibrate its readings with the battery’s charge cycle.
hope that helps:good:
