Fortnite
Hello, if you don’t play Fortnite can you pm me the code for the wonder skin using the instructions below. Please!!! I’m a huge fan of the game and really want the skin.
Open up AppGallery. From there, click on the “Me” icon, and then on “Gift.” This should bring up a banner that has the Honor 20 Wonder outfit (a teal and purple colored girl) on it. Click the banner to copy its code

True, checked it with my provider, said it should work but when tested in the shop on other specimens it was negative result as well. e.g. Any Mote says, the hardware isn't present.
Maybe it's just the European ROM.
Anyway I wanted the 20 pro for it's camera lens (F1.4) and side mounted fingerprint scanner which is awesome.

Using Redmi 3 with Google Play and Cardboard

Hi all.
I just took delivery of a Redmi 3 in Switzerland, bought from an online vendor. The unit was pre-configured for English, had the Mi market replaced with Google Play, and very few pre-installed apps. The MIUI version shows
MIUI Global 7.1|Stable
71.91.99(LHPCNCK)
I have not rooted it, but have replaced the Mi Launcher with Nova for a familiar look.
The only real thing I miss is the lack of 5GHz wifi, which gives me poorer reception at home. But I also have a couple of questions:
While I appreciate Google Play being installed (and default), am I missing anything important in NOT having the MiUI apps store installed, or not having a Mi account?
I want to use this phone with Google Cardboard. But, in use, while the VR works fine when head turning up-and-down, it doesn't respond when moving side-to-side. The Compass app seems to work OK (if a little jittery). Is there some calibration that I need to do? Or is it just not possible?
There's a setting under Network->More called "wireless display". Does anyone know what this is, if I can use this to display my phone's screen on a bigger display? Is it Miracast, something else? It would be great if I could use this feature.
Many thanks for any suggestions. And this is just after day 1!
i believe that's problem with Redmi 3 it self, since it also happen on me, when i use cardboard it deosn't work properly ( ithink there is something with sensor, not sure if it hardware or software)
as you MIUI version, if you only need english language, go flash via Mi flash an official Rom or even perhaps Developer Rom (curently v.6.3.25) it's stable at least for me, also battery is good for few days (more than 2 day battery life-depend on how you use the phone)
Many Redmi 3 user also expirience the same problem. Because there is no real gyro hardware. U can check it from CIT mode. Akm or bosch sensor suffer jittering but only a few Yas sensor got the problem, by disabling the magnet in the cardboard. Like my device sensor is akm so i cant use vr but that ok i fell sick when using vr (borrowing my friends vr). I still hoping its only a software problem. Coz there is no gyro hardware, some said its an emulated compas and accelerometer sensor. If its true may be an OP or DEV can make the fix
I have the same problem, it's impossible to pan sideways, just up and down, it makes Cardboard useless. Hope someone can find a fix to this problem!

Some can, some is not. If your vision jitter, try not to use the magnet. See if it still jitter or not.

Mate 10 Qs: back button? camera? battery? UK ROM?

Hi
I have Mate 9 and love everything about it except for:
camera - low light quality is awful
software home/back/recents button
I'm hoping to upgrade to Mate 10 and hoping it'll sort some of the issues.
1) I'm LOVING the physical home button but I can't understand where the back and refresh buttons are. I've looked at youtube vids and sometimes you see the annoying software buttons there. Why? Does it have touch sensors to the right and left of the home button? Reviews don't mention this.
2) With a larger aperture it should do better low light. Does it?
3) Is the battery going to take a hit compared to my brilliant Mate 9 because of the better screen?
4) Can it only connect to one BT device? (i.e. it's only BT 4.2 not 5 sadly)
5) Is there a ROM that works in English with Google Play tore in teh UK? Wondamobile say they can put on the L29C636 ROM. Is this ok?

Worst case you can expect is the battery being as good as the Mate 9. However as per initial reviews it is slightly better and should get better with rom updates. As per Huawei's "official" claims and their own tests, the battery life should be 30% better and so thats the most best you can expect from it.

I guess it can connect to two as the Huawei desktop feature can connect to a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at same time.

Hi Mate,
I've a Mate 9 pro. It's an awesome piece of kit.(with an Asian C636 Rom)
If the Mate 10 is the same as the Mate 9 Pro - Back and refresh are left and right of the physical button and they are touch sensors. They can be switched as well.
On your second point - have Wondamobile said they'll do this for you? Apparently rebranding is a bit of a headache, but achievable.
My understanding is that there is no UK Rom, there's a European Rom, but the European models only have one sim. So support for second sim won't exist. The Asian model - C636 is pretty much an equivalent of the European Rom, but supports dual sim(and works in the UK). Funky Huawei support method.
Yes can you customise the gestures? To me it makes more sense to swipe to go back, press and hold to get task view and tap to go home.
From what I've read you tap to go back, swipe for recent apps, and hold to go home.
I really like that you can ditch the onscreen buttons for fingerprint sensor gestures.
Thanks guys this sounds awesome.
Almost on verge of buying one but concerned that it doesn't have BT 5 as I need my car and watch to connect for calls. Unless anyone knows of an app that can automatically switch BT to car when I'm in the car and back to watch when I leave?

My Mate pro 9 connects to my Huawei Watch, my bluetooth tracker and my car all at the same time. I can't imagine this device can only connect to one thing at a time?

Yes but you can only do calls on one of those things.
I can normally do calls via my watch (bluetooth) or via the car, but not both.

didn't know that. But while the european mate 10 model does not support dual sim, it does still support a microSD, correct?

By the way the Front finger print sensor is not a physical button, it is just a touch screen sensor and there is no left and right capacitive button beside the FP sensor, it just have gesture command.
Wearing my leather gloves out here in London. Sadly you can't use the fingerprint button to navigate. Thank God for the floating Navigation dock nodule. As I have the navigation bar hidden, I have added the navigation dock to my quick tiles so I can easily enable it when out and about like I am now. Problem solved.

Thanks, this saved me for buying the Mate 10. I don't care about the Mate 10 Pro or any bezel-less 18:9 aspect ratio phones. I just wish there was a 16:9 rootable flagship smartphone with headphone jack and capacitive or, even better, physical buttons :crying:
Does anyone know if there is there such a beast available ?

S9+ as IR remote?

Hi,
my IR receiver blinks all the time because of some front sensor on the phone therefore could it be possible to develop any app and use the model as an IR blaster? What do you think, does anyone know which sensor (maybe the code beamer) does that and would it be possible without any Samsung permission and cooperation? Or does exist any reliably working and tiny 3.5 jack IR blaster with this model?
Thx
M
I dont think there is any ir blaster in s9+
Nope. Last Galaxy S with IR I think was the S5
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
Funny enough I think it is just detecting the light that the iris scanner uses. That light is not smart enough to function as a remote though so while your phone may trigger the receiver it is not going to send it commands.

But the second question about 3.5 jack IR blaster still needs to be answered. Maybe someone in future will respond.

Pixel camera port?

I googled everywhere, but can't seems to to find anything on it. Is it possible at all or not due to SoC?
I would highly doubt it, mainly because the pixel has 1 back camera and the mate has 3
Could still happen, other phones have more than one camera and have had it ported over, OnePlus 6, LG g6 etc etc but the only Thing that might be an issue it them. Phones have had snapdragon processors as opposed to Huawei Kirin.

Porting Google Camera is much easier from Snapdragon SoC to Snapdragon SoC, yet there are still issues on OnePlus phones cause of the different sensors. I'm afraid it would take someone in the knowledge and motivated to properly port GCam for Kirin, and then you have the problem of the multiple lenses, something GCam doesn't support natively. First and foremost Huawei should just significantly cut back denoising and some of the sharpening, or just offer the option. Otherwise stock camera app is well rounded (minus GCam's awesome photosphere).
Night Signt is what I am more interested in from the new Google cam.

You are absolutely right. Some tweaks from Huawei and the stock camera App is brilliant. There is no need fpr GCam on Huawei especially since Huawei started with those dedicated night modes.
The problem does not seem to be the SOC as Mate 10 pro has a perfectly usable GCam port but the P20 pro doesn't. The problem is with the IMX 600 on the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro as it enables pixel binding technology to capture HDR photos within the sensor itself rather than stacking different shots together. The pixel binding technology relays on the sensor to capture four pictures at once while other HDR technology only captures one photo at each shot. Oneplus uses the same technology on its secondary sensors so If there if any ports are working with the Oneplus's secondary sensor, then it might as well working on the Huawei devices. But If that's not the case, then it's not likely for us to get hands on any workable GCam shortly.
What a shame. imo the Mate 20 pro cam modules are really capable, but the software tends to screw up my images. I mean as mentioned, the sharpening, and the noise reduction is way over the top, and makes the images oilpaintings rather than actual pictures.

Also waiting for this
I tried many ports but nothing worked. Agree with Don.Chen's insight, I also found M20P compatible with some P20P's ports, but not the M10 ports. Miss GC's Portrait mode. Basically hardly any support for Kirin processors. Saw people mentioned Huawei's Camera API 2 is blocked, thus GC will not work for HDR+.
I hope some devs will turn and give it a try to mods gcam to work with our device

Is this from pixel 3?
At least it works . And it's real 40 MP photos with zoom.
I tried one of the gcam version but it didnt work correct, so I deleted it. But i have a feeling that after that my camera doesent work so good anymore, it doesent take so good pictures anymore. Do you think that something like that is possible, or it is just my feeling? I dont have any good pictures to compare between, so it is hard to prove.
No change in terms of quality here. I guess you could do a soft reset? Has anyone found a port for wide angle support? Thanks

infrared remote clone problem

Hi,
I would like to ask if you know how to activate the infrared acquisition functionality for remote control on redmi 9 pro ... it seems that there is no possibility to copy a remote control by putting it in front of the other ...
Regards
I had two leeco phones that could seamlessly "learn" infrared commands but I have never heard of a xiaomi that can do the same. If anyone knows if it can be done on redmi note 9s please share. There's a lot of interest on this because there are numerous remotes that aren't on the online database.
No suggestion?
I'm sorry to inform but Xiaomi only uses a infrared led, but not also a infrared sensor, it can emit but can't see infrared
Basically, no, it can't learn infrared patterns
