Based on AndroidTV OS. Has all the features of an AndroidTV but since atvXperienceOS provides a different experience, we combine the best of AOSP and ATV.

v3A
NOTE
The first boot will take a lot of time! Screen will be glitchy, bootvideo will be laggy and you may not even see anything except for black screen but this is normal and doesn't affect the device in any way. This only happens on the first boot because the encrypted kernel and bootloader try to reject the device but it boots anyway and everything will be OK in the second boot.
v3A
• Based on latest AndroidTV OS, latest Security patches.
• Google Play Works
• All Google Apps Work!
• Recommendations work great! To turn off go to Settings - Home
• Casting Works with Airscreen
• Fully Compatible with A95X Max!
• atvXed up with Multiple USB drivers!
v3B To-Do:
Add USB drivers
Add Navbar and Status Bar
Change Settings shortcut to TVSettings
Change App Drawer Wallpaper
Add some more preinstall apps
DO THE ATVX THING

Rom is *meh*, as it completely throws away the stock android Oreo layout and switches to a straight up TV Box setup like a Roku. Most apk's refuse to work with this setup. The included Youtube app sucks and needs to be REMOVED FROM THE ROM as a system app or at least replaced with YT Vanced. Also, Chrome is simply gone...and you cant find it in the "store" either. The apk can be manually installed with a USB/SD card. Netflix app installed within the store does not work with this rom so its like what are we doing here?... but there is a work around. There is no option to boot straight to recovery either, if there even is one. We need TWRP for this to let us do what we want...Get rid of the Android TV BS and let people install their own launcher and you will profit more than just re-skinning the stock OS with this.

Then don't use it... I use it because of the Android TV layout. He was very up front in the beginning as to what this was and what would and would not work. No 3rd party box is going to work with Netflix or Amazon Apps at this time due to widevine DRM.
If what you have described is what you want, then by all means make your own ROM.

Read the title again maybe?
This is an AndroidTV OS and no it's not BS. Maybe it's only you who likes to use a mouse and keyboard on a tv. This is meant for those who don't want the airmouse BS and want a clean look, to have the real AndroidTV Box and not just a phone-UI Android Box and not the *meh* launchers that are meant for phone screens.
All apks work, if it works in the phone rom, it works in ATV. 'Maybe' you're doing something wrong or lack the knowledge of apps installation.
The google play store is meant for AndroidTV, it shows apps which are compatible with your remote, not mouse or keyboard.
Also, Netflix thing, everybody knows you need a Netflix certified box for it, it's even mentioned on their website.
And everybody knows you can use Aptoide Store for other apps that aren't on play store.
If you want your own launcher, go ahead make a ROM but please don't call my work a 'simple reskin' because I am working my ass off for a box that's totally encrypted to the core and has a 'meh' phone UI.
So, please don't think I'm playing copy and paste here, I've worked hard on this and if my work is *meh*, please use another ROM (if it exists).
Thank you for the feedback on v3A

Did I ***** and complain? I simply stated some of this rom's caveats and giving a heads up to people who might prospectively install this not realizing its going to completely change the OS to a dedicated Kodi box.
No browser at all? Youtube that you cant get rid of? If you dont like my opinion you can straight up not listen to it. I doubt you even installed it in the first place or you wouldn't be responding with your sh*t posts.

You can install Puffin Browser from Google Play. It's the best TV Browser out there, 100% remote compatibility.
It's pre-rooted, you can easily uninstall YouTube if you know what root means. AptoideTV Store is there to help.
I thought I included webXperience, It's our own browser. If I didn't, I'll do it in the next release which is going to shut everybody up because as I mentioned, this is the first release and the next will be address all the issues you mentioned and the features that I mentioned.
If you want a phone rom on a tv box, please go elsewhere because this is an AndroidTV thread, please don't argue here, the mods take notice of everything.
Thank you for understanding.

I am familiar with rooting aka administrative privileges over apps/os and have had many phones/tablets/matricom boxes all eventually rooted with either magisk or super su, some I actually paid for. This rom doesnt allow me to uninstall anything, just disable which is not the same. How can I grant root access to any app, such as bloatware removal tools? There is no root management on this thing. (that I am aware of?) and there is no recovery I can see to get into to flash anything besides the temp TWRP method with an sd card + paper clip which has not worked with anything on this rom.

Try switching on the root switch from settings and reboot.
Another tip, install SuperSU 2.79 and it will fix your root management issues.
The recovery is stock, just like the original ROM. Use quick reboot app to reboot to recovery.
If it still doesn't work, I'll double check and fix anything if wrong. As I said, this is the first release so expect issues unless you know how to fix things but don't worry, the v2B or v2F (whatever I name it) is going to fix all the issues. Trust me, you'll never feel the need to use Navbar and Statusbar again with the new build.

Switching off/on root switch doesn't do anything even with restarting.
SuperSu 2.79 does not successfully flash in temp TWRP with paperclip method or with stock recovery (see pic).
Since there is no root management, quick reboot and other root required apps install but dont work.
Ad-Away also will not save host files either, and I prefer to use that in combination with chrome over Puffin.
If I pissed you off with my earlier post, I apologize and that was not my intent. I understand this rom is pretty much in beta at this point but its very frustrating when nothing works for me, pretty much at all except for what worked with the stock OS.
FYI I have the v81 board.

You are not supposed to flash super su. Just install it.

It doesn't matter, it doesn't install either way (flashing vs apk).
All I can think of is to completely re-flash the new link firmware over my version I installed when you made it first available, maybe there is a difference?

Thanks for letting me know, it's strange it's not working for you. My friend reported it working. I'll fix the su in the new version. Meanwhile, you can flash stock rom because I don't want you to get any issues.
New build will be ready in a week or so and it's going to be great!
Thanks for all the feedback.

If you watch this video, you can see that Nicholas tested that the ROM is rooted. That's why I said, I don't know why it's not working for you.
https://youtu.be/hnliXmly7WY
Maybe you can try switching root switch off, reboot, then on and reboot.
I'll update the su anyway, nobody should be getting any problems but this box is one hell of a fighter. They've encrypted everything! I could only get access to system because kernel, recovery and everything else was encrypted.

Re-flashing the newer firmware link over last weeks firmware link allowed SuperSu apk to install successfully. Apparently we are good to go now...

I spoke too soon lol. SuperSu 2.79 installs after a fresh firmware flash but bootloops (waiting 20 minutes and still stuck on logo screen). Re-flashing and installing SuperSu 2.82 does the same thing. Oh well.
Re-flashing the image brings its back but just beware root doesnt work. I give up, good luck to everyone getting root.

[Guide] How to flash Google Apps.

When I installed nAa's port recently published for our Mini Pro's, I noticed there was no way to use Market, register a Google account, or use any of the Google services that comes by default on most ROM's. This is because Google Apps are protected by copyright, so Cyanogen decided to wipe them from their official ROM. This can be easily solved by flashing them, and although this is very simple and easy, I found that there isn't much talking about this. Also, I saw there was some people asking and getting no answer, so I'd like to share this. Yes, flamers, even if it is REALLY easy or whatever you may say.
First of all, click this link. Here, you will always have the lastest version of the package, so don't worry about the dates. Then, scroll down and click the Download link, like this:

}
Note: Ignore the other downloads. EDIT: Unless you want other versions of Android. In that case, go to the bottom of this post.
You will get a file called "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip". Well, just flash that (Install as any other Custom ROM -DON'T WIPE-) and then, when you turn on the phone, you will get the default setup where Google configures your account and download Google Apps such as Market.
Hope this can help someone c:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Times goes on, and technology advances at insane ratios. Ice Cream Sandwich's CyanogenMod version is here, and so are its Google Apps. We, on the X10 Mini Pro community, have actually the option to install ports of this great Android mod on our phones thanks to the awesome developers we have. Some of us, like me, still decline to use CM9 or ICS ports (In my case, because of the awesome stability and every-day use of the Gingerbread ROMs out there), and thus you should know:
-If you are going to use an Ice Cream Sandwich(4.x) ROM, you should download the CyanogenMod 9 Google apps version.
-If not, if you still preffer to use a Gingerbread(2.3.x)-based environment, download the CyanogenMod 7 Google apps version, the one on the screenshot above on this post.
*I don't know your reasons, but if you would like to keep using an even earlier version, I'll list them for you:
Froyo(2.2) ROM, CyanogenMod 6 (Tiny version for our Mimmi -x10 Mini Pro-) is for you.
Eclair(2.1) is CyanogenMod 5 (Tiny version for Mimmi)
Donut (1.6) is CyanogenMod 4 (Tiny version for Mimmi)
Read ALL in nAa first post in MiniCM7 Rom thread. Look at instructions.

Thanks!
There were android ics 4 apps too on the list. have you tried any of them? Just curious.

Lol, market xd Not all GApps are on that package, just the basic ones. Every other Google App you need, you should download it from the market individually.
i cant. The market app doesnt show gmail and through the "web browser" market on my pc it says my device is incompatible.

Describe in detail your problem so I can add it to the main thread c:
I have a bit of a n00b side question i'm afraid. I've flashed a ROM which I love but how do I selectively flash gapps, the Nexus 4 comes without the native calendar, email etc apps, but if I flash the latest gapps these are flashed back onto the device (obviously). What is the best approach get this ROM with the latest Google services apps and not AOSP apps, I want Chrome, Camera, Calendar etc. Should I just not flash gapps and use Titanium back and backup user + system apps or just flash the ROM and then download them from the play store?
Thank you nico, Now i understand why gapp exists!

I followed instructions from a youtube video and installed CyanogenMod 9 on my HTC explorer. Before that I rooted my phone and wiped out factory cache, dalvik cache etc. I also installed one of the gapps-ics-xxxxxxxx-signed.zip (do not remember the datestamp) in the recovery mode by selecting the zip file from mounted USB storage card. Now how should I get back my backed up apps/data and google play to install more ?
N.B.; I took back up using Titanium Backup prior to taking all these steps.
Thanks in advance for any help in this regard.
Regards,

Thanks Nico,
Almost 2 years later this is still useful info. My first custom Rom install since honeycomb tablet and I had know idea how to flash gApps. Should have guessed from term "flash" that you use recovery but there seems to be a dearth of details. Your post was first google hit.
Sorry for the late responses, I had totally forgotten about this thread! I don't actually know if this will be useful for the ones who asked the questions, but anyways I'll answer them here in case someone else needs them.

Wow, didn't expected to get first place on Google haha Thanks for the appreciation. Yeah, it is not that hard, but I had little trouble doing it while I was new. It's important to understand not to wipe again to flash gapps also!

It depends on how you backed them up on Titanium. Maybe you did a full system backup or just app-per-app backup. If you did a full System backup, try to restore only Data, look into options, custom restore, something like that, there's probably an option there to do that -I usually don't use Titanium haha-. If you did the app-per-app, just look into the list of apps, go to the bottom of the list, and there should appear the apps you backed up, tap on them and restore them with their respective data.
BTW, for the next time, I suggest doing a backup from the Recovery menu, and then do a custom restore > restore Data. Data is where your personal stuff is saved, so no system files will be affected. It may pass down some bugs or troubles because of incompatibility between your backed up ROM and your new one, but normally that doesn't happen.

MD5 is just a file that makes sure your file is not corrupt. If you flashed a corrupt file, you could mess up your phone entirely without any chance to turn it back, so it is important, but you don't have to care about it because it gets checked by the phone itself.

I think you can get the APK for specific apps inside of the ZIP file that you download from Cyanogen, but I don't know if you can just install them right away. If you want to try, just extract the files, delete the APKs of the apps you don't want, and compile it again.
Even though, you actually HAVE to install Google Apps because you need, for example, the Play Store. There's no problem though with having both Google and Nexus apps (Which I think should be the same ones, being the Nexus like the "official" Google phones), I am pretty sure you can install all of them without getting original ones replaced and then deactivate the ones you don't want to use on the phone's Settings, in the Application Manager.
I hope my answers someday help someone. Regards, Nico.

Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,

Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included
in this ROM before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger
at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
About JazzROM-GT-N5110-KitKat [please read carefully]
First thing first; I don't consider myself an experienced ROM developer nor pretend to be one here.
This ROM based on both stock 4.4.2 and @civato 's 4.4.2 ROM (you should be already familiar with his ROMs)
It uses @civato 's KK Kernel, which I found superior to stock 4.4.2 kernel. So whatever Civato listed on KK Kernel feature applies here as well.
There are a lot of my own ported apps included in this ROM. I am not going to list them all here, I am sure you will find them out one by one when playing around with ROM.
Aside from ported apps, you will also find out many features in the ROM as well, like S5 practicle effect on lock screen, etc..
Needless to say, this includes my famous ported SPen Aircommand features too. Don't ask me to remove Spen Aircommand, if you don't want it, you are in wrong ROM thread my friend!
Because of SPen Aircommand, Chrome and Reading mode does NOT work (causes soft-reboot), so please do NOT report it as issue
since this is known bug since beginning (remember all discussing about it in Civato's ROM thread, so let's not discuss it here again!), so make sure use
Chrome Beta and turn off Reading Mode in the settings. If you think these two are too critical to you, then again this ROM is NOT for you my friend!

Additional Info about xposed
I have following xposed apps installed on my device - keep in mind some are paid/donation ones, support the developers and buy it;
-Amplify (enabled)
-App Settings (enabled)
-ButteredToast (enabled)
-Flat Style Colored Bars (enabled)
-Gesture Navigation (enabled) - instead of using xblast tools, I use this one's gesture settings - double tab to sleep and long press to open Aircommand window
-Greenify (enabled)
-PerAppFonts (enabled)
-Popup Window Mod (enabled)
-Wannam Xposed (currently not enabled)
-Xblast Tools (currently not enabled)
-Xposed Fast TWLauncher (enabled)
Click to collapse
Using both Amplify and Greenify helps extend battery life. My ported TouchWiz launcher already optimized (by me) for smoothness, and having Xposed Fast TWLauncher seems like
makes it much smoother. Xposed Fast TWLauncher originally intended to Note 3 devices's SecLauncher, but it works fine here. I am currently not using Wannam Xposed nor Xblast Tools,
- I was relying on them because of gesture stuff, but since now I switched to Gesture Navigation, I disabled both of them on my device. if you want to use it, use only one of them as they may conflict each others.
Warning: Xposed stuff and apps are great way to customize and add extra feature to your device, but sometimes they causes a lot of conflict to each other and device itself, which eventually makes your
device unstable. So My personal experience and suggestion to you is always be cautious. before you go crazy with xposed stuff - always make a full-nandroid backup.
Additional Settings
I have these are set to (Settings --> Developer Options)
Window animation scale 0.5x
Transition animation scale 0.5x
Animator duration scale 0.5x
Click to collapse
You may loose some fancy animation (which is not noticeable anyway), setting them 0.5x makes the device much smoother and better performance. Of curse, this is up to you if you want
to have, I am just throwing it here just in case if you like to give a try!
Known Issues/Bugs
None of these issues mentioned here causes any instability of your device nor anything major, these issues considered as very minor, nothing showstopper
As it is mentioned above, Both Chrome and turning on Reading Mode (and using play books, or any other ebook reader) causes soft-reboot. Please use Chrome Beta from play store. There's no work around for reading mode, if this is very important for you, then you should probably using other stock base ROM(s). Because this ROM included latest ported and moded TouchWiz launcher from Galaxy Tab 4's 4.4.4 firmware, setting wallpaper lockscreen using TouchWiz launcher's settings causes launcher to FC, instead please set your lockscreen wallpaper thru Settings --> Display --> Lockscreen

Help and Troubleshooting
I have been running this ROM several weeks by now, and considering this ROM is quite stable and smooth, but as saying goes, there's no Perfect ROM, everyone uses his/her own devices quite differently, so there could be some bug(s) that I may overlooked. In addition, I had ROM testers who tested the ROM several times. If you follow install instruction carefully step by step and did clean install, you should not have any problem - all should work fine except two bugs Chrome and Reading Mode (see above for explanation).
It is very critical to read entire OP post here before posting question(s). Remember that this is provided as it is, means I am not your full time tech-support. Several people here in Note 8 community know me that I always try to help, but sometimes I don't know the answer nor have solution for your issue, so please do NOT be offended, ask here and maybe others will help you. Remember this is community driven thread, so help each other whenever possible.

How to get moded SystemUI on JazzROM?
This one is a bit tricky, but I am sure you eventually get new look of SystemUI (see screenshot) working without any issue or FCs, so be patient here;
Now, it is very important that you followed all steps outlined above first post and you checked everything (including Multiwindow sidebar, Spen Aircommand,..etc),
and you have been using your tablet at least couple hours!
Once you are confident that everything is working and no issue, copy both of these zip files to your device and go head flash this in recoveryJazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip.
- do not clear caches nor dalvik caches!, just simply reboot your tablet after flashing. Now, when your tablet reboots, it could happen two things; it is either get SystemUI stopped error or
you will get no error.
If you get t SystemUI stopped error, flash JazzROM_Note_8_Stock_SystemUI.zip to revert it back the change and reboot your tablet. Once you got stock SystemUI in place and rebooted your tablet,
what you can try is doing it manually copy systemUI.apk (from JazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip) to system\priv-app folder, give the permission 644, and reboot and check and see if you still getting error.
If no more error, you are probably good to go. It may take you couple of try, but I don't see a reason this won't work since it has been working fine on my device!
Assuming you got new SystemUI working no issue, it is very important to re-check everything again everything (including Multiwindow sidebar, Spen Aircommand,..etc),
Mod_SystemUI;
JazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip
To revert it back to stock SystemUI, flash this in recovery and reboot;
JazzROM_Note_8_Stock_SystemUI.zip

LenovoLauncher HD (From Lenovo Tablet S8-50, USA)
Sometimes a simple launcher is all you need. Here I am presenting you LenovoLauncher HD. My wife likes this because it mimics iPad (she has iPad Mini),
so whenever she wants to use my Note 8 tablet, she switches to this Launcher. By the way it start to grown on me for some strange reason, maybe because of it simplicity?
Anyway, it is nice looking launcher. I have modified this launcher to fit nicely to our screen. Please note that app name under icons is small, can't able to make it bigger
even if I tried 13p font size, it still gets the default font size, but this really does not bothers me - so don't ask if I increase it or not. Second;
when this launcher is not set default, and if you uninstall an app, it give FC (but still works), so just ignore that..
This is NOT flashable zip, so in order to install, copy content of package to your tablet and install as normal apps. It includes onekey lock and mirage theme
(pulled from Lenovo Tablet S8-50). In my setup, I place the lenovo launcher in System\app folder, and i installed onekeylock and mirage theme as normal apk...

This is NOT flashable zip, so in order to install, copy to your device's system\app folder, before you copy two apps, make sure you delete the ones comes with JazzROM (or backup, in case you want to revert it back). Anyway, did not see huge diffrences, it seems app is a little polished that's all...but thought I should share with you and give you an options which version oc SecCalender to use..

This is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722650 originally made for Note 3 theme chooser, but it also works on JazzROM's moded TouchWiz launcher as well. Because I ported latest TouchWiz launcher from Tab 8's 4.4.4 firmware, so seems like Samsung's newest stock launcher supports theme chooser (but apprently it was disabled). Anyway, using this method will enable it. Please read install instruction in above xperiacle's thread how to install. sorry guys...I don't have N5100, nor any other variant of Note 8, I have N5110 wifi...so it will be so difficult for me to build ROM for it...I don't want to say it is never going to happen, but can't promise any of you that it will happen anytime soon either...
Im really liking that Asus Zen launcher. Thanks for the port.

Thank you!
Trying out JazzROM. Thank you for putting it together. Very smooth. I like the updated apps. Battery life on day 1 seemed a little low, but have brought up Greenify and will see what the next few days bring. The take-away message here though is a big THANK YOU!

Battery consumption should be the same like Civato's ROM really. I am getting good battery usage, not perfect, but consider it normal (again, comparing the civato's ROM). Both Amplify xposed and Greenify helps extend battery life, in fact I am using both apps all my current devices. Let me know how your experiences with JazzROM goes..
The Amplify module made a big difference in battery life. Nice ROM!
I followed every point in your installation instructions, but multi windows is not working.. can you please help me? BTW. I miss the keyboard secondary symbols.. thank you for your hard work, it's realy a good room.

thanks for the feedback. Are you getting any error for multiwindows? or it is just simple does not shows up (multiwindow sidebar)?
About keyboard, when you say secondary symbols, what do you mean? screenshot?
I don't have issue with multiwindow, it works fine at my side...but of course, I will check it out...
Multiwindow issue & Email Exchange issue
After I got catlog from one of jazzROM testers, I dig into log, checked it out...it seems like there's some issue with SystemUI.apk - this is moded SystemUI, which makes it looks like S5's...
what strange is that I am not having issue, but again even if we all on N5110, there's could be tiny diffrences...anyway, my plan is do the new build v2.3, and stock SystemUI and Email apk, and some additional instruction how to replace SystemUI with new one (after ROM installation)..
anyway, watch out for new build v.2.3 in couple days....
First. Sorry for my bad english. The multiwindows sidebar simply does not show up no matter what i do although i repeat the installation steps two times. About the keyboard here's a screenshot taken from civato's room a month ago..

[GUIDE] XPOSED on FIRE STICK

For those who use Xposed framework and would like to use it on the Fire stick ive managed to find a way how to install xposed v85 on Fire stick without a recovery.
Ive successfully installed it onto my own Fire Stick and a friends Fire stick.
Before you go on im not responsible for any bricking you might encounter.
Your more than welcome to wait for Rbox to release a custom recovery for the stick.
Please note, im only passing on what i found and tried, i did not make the tool.
Be very careful on what modules you install, again im not responsible for any bricks that might arise.
This obviously requires root. Im rooted with kingoroot.
The Fire sticks i tested where on 5.0.5 and 5.2.1.0
If your on a higher firmware version and are rooted use this guide and come back:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/fire-tv-stick-downgrade-firestarter-3-2-t3399298
Im explaining the guide from a windows pc and using the program ADBlink to transfer files, if your going to do this a different way please modify instructions to suit.
First download this:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=13649473132596741692
Next extract the folder to your desktop.
Open up ADBlink and connect to your Fire stick.
Upload the entire contents to your Fire sticks internal sd card, (make sure the files are going to /sdcard).
Head over to your Fire stick and install busybox, open busybox up and click install and wait till its finished.
Very important to click install inside of the Busybox app, if it wont let you exit the app and try again. You will have problems trying to run the script further in the guide
Install Terminal (not sure if this step is necessary as you will be using ADBlink's ADB Shell, but it was used when i found this info). Finally install Xposed installer, make sure you DO NOT open the Xposed apk yet, just click done.
Now if you used a different way to do this and the files are not in the /sdcard directory now is the time to move them to the /sdcard directory.
Back over to windows pc.
Click ADB Shell in ADBlink (you should have it still open and connected to your Fire stick).
Type the following commands:
su then hit enter.
sh /sdcard/installer.bin then hit enter.
Choose option 1 hit enter.
You will see alot of errors, ignore these and restart your Fire Stick.
It will take a while to boot and go to the optimizing apps screen and take about 10 minutes to boot up.
After its booted go ahead and check Xposed is installed !
Again im not responsible for anyone's Fire Stick and/or any modules you may try.
Again im not responsible for anyone's Fire Stick and/or any modules you may try.
Would be a good idea to list working modules you guys might try, give the community a heads up on whats working.
I will update the guide with modules i test and/or you guys report work.
*edit***
This also works on 5.2.1.0, was informed by user @metallica this worked on 5.2.1.0
Ive just got the time to test this on a brand new Fire Stick and can confirm it also.
Thanks @metallica
*edit
*Ive now successfully installed xposed v85 on 6 Fire Sticks*
Working Modules: (not limited to, just ones ive tried or been told work)
AdBlocker
Lucky Patcher
RootCloak
SpotifySkip
YouTube AdAway
RboxFireTvMods v1.4 *This mod will hide stock launcher without disabling settings* (finally got amazon screen launcher gone)
*update*
I should of included this information when I made the guide but in order to be able to select and activate any xposed mod in xposed menu after you have installed it using the fire stick remote alone will not allow you to navigate to the checkbox and put a tick into it.
In order to do this you must have an app to turn the remote into a mouse or some other way to manoeuvre the pointer.
The 3 ways I know of doing this are:
1/ Mouse toggle for fire tv. This is the easiest way but its a paid app. Download it from Google play and send it to your Fire TV.
2/ Droidmote server, agaim another paid app from Google play store but this must have Google play store/services installed as to allow for license check. There is a guide to follow to have this installed on here somewhere.
3/ Use Bluetooth mouse if you have one.
4/ Use an USB mouse with an OTG connector, the commands to start OTG are on AFTVnews.com, I have this command autorun at boot to enable otg after a restart (very handy).
There may be other ways but these are the omes ive had experience with and use myself.
As per usual I recommend that you wait for a working recovery system, if you install something from an Xposed Module & it bricks your Stick you will have no way back! Rbox is working on the recovery & a prerooted rom for the stick. Use at your own risk I would say.... this is just a helping hand & I'm not trolling your thread, just some newer users may not know the risks.

I think I have made my point already about the risks involved and im almost certain that anyone wanting xposed on the fire stick will already know the risks, as with anything involving root/xposed etc.
I have tested this myself and know it works and have listed some modules I have installed that work fine. As long as people stay away from modules that are definitely no use to fire stick and heavily moddify /system (im sure when reading the description of modules it will say in the write up about them) I cant see there being any problems.
I will continue to list any modules that I find are of any use to fire stick and list them here. If people want to wait for a custom recovery that is there choice, as ive pointed out in the guide. In my eyes everything you have said is already pointed out in the first post.
Also I will add as long as your Rooted and have a working adb connection either through WiFi or USB there is a chance you can come back from a bricked state with my other guide I put together.

It will take a while to boot and go to the optimizing apps screen and take about 10 minutes to boot up.
After its booted go ahead and check Xposed is installed !
Again im not responsible for anyone's Fire Stick and/or any modules you may try.

Would be a good idea to list working modules you guys might try, give the community a heads up on whats working.
I will update the guide with modules i test and/or you guys report work.
*edit
*Ive now successfully installed xposed v85 on 6 Fire Sticks*
Working Modules:

Assume this will work on gen 1 AFTV box w OS5? (feel late to the game)
I have/still have xposed installed from when it was running OS3. Do I need to flash the uninstaller?
Also what version youtube are you using to get Youtube adaway to work? Thanks

Ive no idea if this works with gen 1 FTV. With the gen 1 FTV now having custom recovery you could flash the zip the normal way to have xposed on (Im sure you would flash the same version, arm 22?) please double check that first.
I put this guide together for use with the fire stick, as it has not got a custom recovery and we cant use the tool flashify.
I use the latest version of youtube downloaded directly from within the fire sticks interface.

Well it's gen 1 but running OS5 so I'm pretty confident it'll work but was just hoping for confirmation (if not from you then anyone who may've tried it).
That's interesting that the adaway is working with amazon stock youtube. I used to sideload one from playstore and it had it's glitches because it was designed for tablets. Even the android tv version wasn't perfect but the ads got blocked at least.

Since theres a custom recovery in place for fire tv 1 if I was you too minimise any risk id follow the guides on AFTVnews on installing TWRP recovery. Then at least if you run into problems you can restore it.
I have xposed on my gen 2 fire tv and im sure its 64bit version, but the gen 1 and fire stick are just normal arm version(sdk22 for 5.1)
Yes, the stock amazon youtube, whole better experience when ads are removed.
I followed the guide and successfully installed xposed and a few modules (AdBlocker, YouTube AdAway, and RboxFireTvMods).
Unfortunately, somewhere along the way I lost the stock launcher. My firestick is on OS v5.0.5 as per the guide and I also have FireStarter V.3.2.3 installed and running fine, so my firestick isn't useless. I can still launch FireTV Settings from the apps menu but FireTV Home is no longer there. I also made sure that it wasn't just hidden and oddly enough it is still listed under the hidden apps menu, although I have it unchecked so that it should be visible.
Is there some way that you are aware of to get the Stock launcher back without factory resetting?

Rboxfiretv mods disables it.
You can still access the settings by the fire tv settings icon but if you want to see fire tv stock launcher you cant have Rboxfiretv xposed mod running.
Also very glad to see another user benefiting from this guide

Ahh, that was the problem. Thank you very much for the quick and informative reply!
I need to do some more research into that module. It appears from the reading that I should be able to use the stock launcher with it enabled since it has options for modifying what is displayed in the stock launcher. Of course this all should be addressed in that post. Its good to highlight that this may occur for other people though. Thanks again!

Your welcome.
The mod is quite old and has not been updated in a while.
It is useful to disable the stock launcher, that is what I use it for, disabling certain things from the Amazon launcher is broke, im not sure if and when Rbox is updating it.
There is a guide I followed to remove some menu features before (photos, music etc) through adb commands.
The same thing can be accomplished by using Titanium backups freeze feature as long as you know which ones to disable.
Here are the ones I disabled on my fire stick:
package:com.amazon.precog
package:com.amazon.recess
package:com.amazon.whisperplay.contracts
package:com.amazon.bueller.photos
package:com.amazon.kindle.cms
package:com.amazon.client.metrics
package:com.amazon.device.software.ota
package:com.amazon.whisperlink.core.android
package:com.amazon.application.compatibility.enforcer
package:com.amazon.whisperplay.service.install
package:com.amazon.device.software.ota.override
package:com.amazon.bueller.music

The latest one downloaded directly from Amazon.
I have the same set up on my fire tv 4k box with latest youtube and xposed youtube adaway and it works on that also.
I might add also make sure you have the latest xposed framework installed.
I can confirm, this Xposed installation work with 5.2.1.0 too, have successfull installed on my rooted Firestick in my Kitchen xD experimental tested *fg*
damn good work. @sconnyuk can you build a installer for fully working google play? Just a idea.

Thats good news. I will test this myself and update the guide tomorrow.
As for Google playstore, that would be the icing on the cake, its what im trying to find an answer for at the moment.
The closest and next best thing I have is my Google account and Google services setup so im able to use my paid apps that do a license check.
Also using DroidMote on firestick is excellent.
morning, i install it on my firestick (same config) in the living room to see it will work again...
but i'm sure it will work

Only way I can think of Google play store installation would be with flashify:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ery&pcampaignid=APPU_1_kWqFV-OkMevCgAa28oSIAg
With gapps version arm-5.1-pico from this page:
http://opengapps.org
BUT IVE NOT TESTED THIS.......
As im unsure if flashing this would brick the device.?
Has anyone tried using Flashfire?
http://flashfireapk.com
I'm just curious. It works on Fire Tablet running OS5 and I've ONLY used it on that. I'm not looking to possibly contribute to a bricked device, just wondering if it's been tried...
Feels like I'm beating a dead horse, but I can't understand why Youtube Adaway isn't working with Youtube 1.2.0 on my device. Pretty sure that's the latest version because there's no update available. According to others it works.
***What would be cool is to get Awesome Popup video to work fully with xposed. I was able to use it on OS3 but never could get it working right--open youtube video, have option of playing in a smaller window while I go to another app.
All I could do was get it to work with videos from within the awesome popup UI, which is no where near as good (much smaller selection, can't access your subscriptions, playlists, etc.)

You could try the obvious, uninstall youtube disable xposed mod reboot, reinstall youtube from Amazon and re enable xposed mod.
As for flashfire, it won't work as it requires chainfires supersu.
Until a way tp swap kingoroot for supersu comes along then we can only wait for custom recovery.
second firestick running 5.2.1.0 in living room successfull xposed installed after small issue (newest kingo root from homepage must be installed)
think this with Kingo Root is a important information!
after rbox tools, stick start faster *fg*

[17-Feb-2017] Viper4Android 2.5.0.5 Nougat Build - Flashable w/ Preinstalled Driver

A few days ago, there was an update from zhuhang for the already released Viper4Android 2.5.0.5. It addresses the issues that a lot of people are having with getting V4A working under Nougat. I tested it with my ROM, and the driver installed without error. So then I decided to make a flashable zip that would preinstall the driver and save you a few minutes plus a reboot. Other than possibly needing to grant Storage permissions in Settings, this is a quick flash and go.
The zip that should work on any LG-based ROM, and possibly on AOSP-based as well. Just download, flash in TWRP, and reboot. You may need to grant Storage permissions in Settings.
XDA Thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
V4A Blog Site:
http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=31
I [obviously] didn't create V4A, but if you include my zip in your ROM, please give a mention and link back to this thread.
First
Thanks for this.. I'm sure many will get use out of it..!
Not sure if I did something wrong or not - but I can't get it to work.
I'm on DevDigital's ls997 ver 6.5 magisk phh.
Flashed in twrp. Granted root permision.
go to SuperSU / un-check Mount_name spaces separately / under the settings. turn on adb debugging.
Inscribed via LG v20 (iOS 11.1.0 Aplha)

You shouldn't have been promoted to grant root access. V4A only needs root to install the driver, which is preinstalled.
If you're being prompted to install a driver, the ROM likely uses a different conf file to control audio.

He built and ported to magisk recently. Has a module you need to install then install Swansong
I haven't played with it yet. I like the new app but dont see a diffence in drivers from 2.5.0.4 to 2.5.0.5
Magisk has a compatible module in his downloads via the app that works with my rom (2.5.0.4)
I install that via magisk manager then i pulled the latest viper4arise.apk and installed instead of the older ui viperfx apk that is linked on the downloads page inside magisk manager.
Driver installs correctly for many others as well. You may need to dirtyflash my rom and start over. Magisk manager also received a update yesterday via playstore. The process on phh or magisksu as its now called is different now as its "systemless" vs modifying the actual system files.
If you dont want to go 5through the hassel of above. Just go to developer settings inside of the viper apps settings and turn off selinux and recheck driver status. Im 99% sure it works this way but ive said it before, i wont push the rom this route as i dont perfer it to be off by defualt.
Hope this helps
Got it all worked out thanks to the rom creator above. Team DevDigitel.
Thank You
Thank you for your work on this flashable zip it's much appreciated, I just have a couple of questions though for anyone who might know..
I'm still running the original stock rom (rooted with TWRP) on my LG V20 and a while back I followed the directions from another thread to install V4A, and I was able to get it to work (even through bluetooth) but it's kind of wonky and just hit or miss so I'd really like to try this one out instead.
I'm assuming I should uninstall the version of V4A I have right now but is there anything else that I need to do (besides a nand backup) before flashing this one? Also one of the steps to install the V4A I have right now was deleting a system file (I'll have to go look to be sure but I believe it was something like mixer_paths.xml), so I just thought I'd check to see if that will somehow effect this version or if I possibly need to put the original file back where it was before flashing this one?
I apologize if these are stupid questions but I just thought play it safe and check first before giving this a shot, because even though the version I have is kind of wonky it still works through bluetooth which from what I've read is something that a lot of people haven't been able to get working, and since I use it so much I'm just afraid to even risk losing it. Anyway I'll definitely create a backup before doing anything but any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You don't need to delete any files for this zip. You're supposed to delete /system/etc/audioeffects.conf, but I've done that with the script.
As I use this more, Bluetooth still occasionally doesn't process after pausing for an extended period, like getting out of the car for more than 5 minutes, but all you need to do for it to kick back on is exit V4A from the menu, then open it up again. It'll immediately start processing again.
If you have an unmodified system backup to restore, that will help ensure it works OK, but it may not be needed.

Thank you for the quick response and for the info and I have no clue why I had mixer_paths on the brain but yeah audioeffects.conf is the file I had to delete while installing the version I have, and as far as what you said about the bluetooth acting up it sounds pretty similar to the wonkyness that I was describing with the version I currently have.
One weird thing that I've noticed with mine (and I don't have the slightest idea how or why it's doing it) is when I'm listening to music through my bluetooth headset, none of the settings under the "Bluetooth" section in V4A have any effect on the sound whatsoever.. but what's weird is that all of the settings under the "Headphones" section do (so it's basically like the section names were swapped somehow)?!
I know for sure that I don't have anything plugged into the jack and the headset I'm using is definitely bluetooth (because it's pretty easy to tell lol), so I have no clue why the settings under headphones would work just fine while the ones under bluetooth don't do it anything at all?
Anyway thank you again for the info I'll give it a shot as soon as I have time and let ya know how it went, and unfortunately the only thing I didn't backup was my unmodified system (it didn't even cross my mind until after I was done rooting) but hopefully it'll still be ok. Thanks again!

You can definitely control BT devices from the BT tab on this one. And I've found with more testing that before I get in my car, switch to V4A and exit it, then open it again as soon as Play Music connects. Works every time.
I would just like to say thank you!!
I installed this .zip on my T-mo variant over the previous V4A install via dirty flash. It resolved my Bluetooth processing issues on the stock V20 ROM. I've been working on this the past few days. VERY happy it now works in my car like my last phone did!
Now, once I get the nerve to flash over the new modem and bootloader via TWRP to get up to 20j, I'm highly inclined to check out the new ROM by NATF.
Cheers!

The new modem and other firmware is not a strict requirement for ROMs built on 10j. You just need to make sure TWRP is on the latest release.

About LineageOS4MicroG & LineageOS
LineageOS unofficial fork with built-in microG gapps implementation.
Full Play Services compatibility [Well-almost...YMMV]
Our ROM has built-in microG free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space apps and libraries. This enables you to use every Google service you need without keeping another closed-source binary blob in your Android system.
Native F-Droid support
LineageOS for microG comes with F-Droid already installed. You can use it to access plenty of FOSS applications or even a Play Store bridge repository like Playmaker or GPlayWeb.
About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Rom Built by Bernie_nixKnown issues:
USB-C headphones work for music, watching videos, etc. They don't work in the phone app...yet. (working on this)
Some users report VOIP calls don't work properly. YMMV. Skype, Whatsapp, Nextcloud Talk, working great for me.
Automatic updates not yet implemented but will be in a future build.

Prerequisites: Coming from stock rom with bootloader unlocked, Developer settings enabled, android debugging enabled.
(1) ADB reboot bootloader,
(2) Fastboot boot twrp.img
(3) Install copy A/B partitions zip,
(4) Select Wipe button, Advanced Wipe, Choose: Dalvik/ART Cache, Data, Internal Storage, System. Then Swipe to Wipe all of these.

1. Root can be enabled in this build by going to Developer Settings->Root Access->Apps and ADB
2. To turn off battery led when charging, Settings>Apps & notifications>Notifications>Battery Light
3. To set up Microg,
(1) open MicroG app,
(2) press self-check, press battery optimizations ignored and allow,
(3) go back one screen, select unified nlp settings, configure location backends, press the checkbox next to mozilla location service and ok, configure address lookup backends, press checkbox next to nominatum and ok,
(4) then go through Google services from top to bottom and enter your information.
(5) Enable location from pull-down shade. Open maps, get your location. Go back to Microg. Run self-check. All boxes should show a check.
(6) Microg is setup in less than 5 minutes and fully working.
(7) Turn off location from pull-down shade bc they're tracking you 4. Want a better GPS experience? Install Deja Vu Location Service, GSM Location Service and Radiocells.org Unified Network Location Provider Backend from F-Droid. Works great with Google Maps or OSM.
5. Looking for a great camera? Try Hypercam for Moto G7 from gcambrasil at https://gcambrasil.com.br/motorola
1. After installing, go to internal storage, create folder "gcam" (without quotes), create folder "Configs" inside of "gcam," and place the Pixelmod_byJGB.xml (attached) file in that folder.
2. Open up Hypercam, double tap on black space near camera button, load Pixelmod_byJGB.xml file.

hi im really interested in this rom but If twrp is already my permanent recovery, this rom won't install correctly?
edit.. tried it anyway since this is a secondary phone, figured i didnt have much to lose, followed instructions to the TEE, and it installed just fine.

I should have another update with OTA server and a few other fixes soon. It's also super quick to update from current build. Stay tuned and enjoy!

Thanks for your efforts, I've been enjoying it, it's hard to find a rom that offers a little privacy from google, most things are working just fine, one thing I've noticed is that video is super super dark, No matter if it's stock camera or open camera but that's all I've came across in the issues department so far

Thanks for your feedback! No problems with video if using a different app. Try Hypercam version 1.3.030119.0645build-6.1.021

Hypercam works like a charm, thank you for the suggestion! does hyper cam rely on anything google related like services or frameworks or binarys? (not sure what to call it since im not a developer) i'm wondering because I own a pixel 3a and im thinking of installing graphene os but any apps that rely on those ran on those will not work on graphene

Hypercam is ported from gcam so YMMV. Given that it works on this ROM with microg, if it has any hooks they probably aren't deep. I'd give it a go
I've been a user of root explorer (pro) for seven+ years or so now. I side loaded the apk that I extracted from a previous setup on my phone and it works perfect. Some may already know that but just figured I'd share. Awesome job on this rom! Appreciate you sharing your builds!! :good:

Couple questions.. What busy box are you using and where did you get it? I've been using Osmosis’s magisk module busy box for so long idk where to even begin. haha. I attempted to install one from fdroid but it failed install. Can I flash his busy box in recovery? Probably not because we are using the LOS built in root instead of magisk correct? Would all hell break loose if I flashed magisk root now and something would possibly get messed up? Thinking if that's what I wanted I would have had to flash it in the beginning so it would over ride the other root...?
This rom runs better than anything besides ugly stock moto on my device. I was off work yesterday so I started messing with my device, hours went by and my battery barely moved at all. Not having Google play services really saves a good bit of juice. Havoc has spoofing now too. I vote that it becomes mandatory for all roms to have signature spoofing. :victory: Should call it the ImNOtgoingback rom or something. I’ve used micro g and fdroid before on previous devices but never for as long as I've been using this. Im like a binge crackflasher nowadays instead -vs- back when Euroskank CM10 bacon was on and popping every morning at around 6am central time the world would all flash. One last thing.. Do you decrypt your data or leave it encrypted? Reason I ask is I was wondering what method you do or would do if you wanted to decrypt?
This rom really runs great! Anyone who hasn't tried this yet should!
Edit
Ps: I've used many great gcams but HyperCam is most definitely at the top of my list. It reminds me of the pictures my Pixel XL used to take. Awesome camera app! Thanks for recommending it and sharing links!
not being picky, but can we have a regular LOS build please? I mean, without microG.
The last syberhexen one is dated 2019-10-01 so it would be nice to have an update to it.

You're right, but it's not easy to be a maintainer - and use your free time to resolve problems for others.
Maybe you should try to create your own build using code created by more advanced users synced with latest LineageOS repo.
If you're interested in that, here's an attached manifest file which would build working LineageOS 16.0 for ocean with February security patch - I'm using such one right now(built 3 days ago), but with microg. It's all possible thanks to LineageOS team and Dark98 (and many others) work, as you can see.
Good luck

That would be great!
In the meantime, i've built and updated my LOS 16 as attached - forgot to add screenshot previously.

Not from me. I build this for personal use, share it and have no interest in a vanilla los build. Robson is correct. Go with his build of you don't want microg.

Thank you for your kind words! I use busybox from osmosis via magisk module; yes, I enjoy magisk on this rom. Busybox (osmosis) actually makes apps like Titanium Backup work great if you've purchased a non-Google play license file from them. This rom is my personal build that I uploaded to xda and shared, and I plan on maintaining it for some time. So...Magisk flashed via twrp/ofox works great, and so does busybox magisk.
+1 on your comment about Hypercam. Completely agree about hypercam. I've tested a lot on this device and of course am open to suggestions.
I will update this rom via the Lineageos patches, however, the Feb update hasn't been pushed yet so no new rom for now. I have isolated a few bugs, e.g. usb-c for calls and am working on OTA, however, I am going to release a surprise test build in the next couple of days (hopefully). It's building as we speak, and I will test before releasing. Stay tuned, and I look forward to yours and others feedback and questions.
P.S. I am a linux user and believe in the power of open-source. If you or others have any questions or comments, feel free to reach me via the telegram link in the 1st post; I usually answer a bit quicker there but also answer on here. Best wishes and thanks again!
P.S.S. Welcome Robson to our open-source team! If any of you are looking for a lineageos build without microg, check out his post a couple of posts above.
generally audio is lower quality than stock rom, it's not as loud and not as clear.

Indeed sir, it doesn't help all that much for me though.

I accompany this sentiment. It happens with most Motorola Moto G devices I own and use: if kept with stock builds both camera and audio have a far better quality than custom ROMs do. Motorola engineers do hell of a job when working on their OEM firmware. It is a real shame yet not so far from reality that we need to take these tradeoffs to obtain better privacy.
An idea that comes to mind is for us to debloat the stock build, bake in microG and possibly update security patches as they come out. Motorola Moto G1 (falcon) has something alike with IDCrisis - https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-identity-crisis-6-t3324595
Thank you for the heads-up, though. I definitely love the audio on stock.

Unfortunately you can't do that with stock. Microg requires signature spoofing enabled in the ROM which is a patch applied when building a ROM. You could try patching stock to enable signature spoofing with a tool like Heystack but it most likely won't work on stock. Another route is using another ROM with signature spoofing support e.g. crdroid or omni, applying signature spoofing patch if necessary and then patching in twrp with something like nanodroid patcher.
That being said I am working through desired edits and bugs in this ROM but can't provide any ETAs. I encourage anyone with a bit of coding experience or interest to build their own and learn. Making changes to rom builds is not hard, just time consuming and unfortunately doesnt pay the bills...so its done in hobby time. I do plan on maintaining this ROM for some time though and will probably be on Pie longer than most users until 10 is ready; right now 10 has way too many bugs for me to use or build for daily driver material.
