DESCRIPTION
Hey guys, I have started a custom Kernel based on LineageOS sources with 98% CAF. So I would like to share my own performance and usability improvements with minimal feature and enhancements on top. The intention is to have a minimal light-weight kernel that is very fine tuned for the device.
FEATURES
Minimal Kernel with a stripped defconfig base to be more streamlined and have less memory footprint
User space display color calibration (KCAL) with screen calibrated against iPhone 8 Plus, also helps reducing screen retention
Schedutil governor making use of EAS features with updates from Linux 4.4 and 4.12
Up to date with LineageOS sources for maximum compatibility and security bugfixes
Memory and cache subsystem optimizations, you will feel it
Adaptive LMK enabled by default
Transparent Hugepages are enabled
ZRAM/Swap partition is disabled by default
BFQ IO scheduler set by default to avoid slow-downs on task intensive scenarios
No overclocking was chosen to avoid unnecessary heat, optimizations were focused on other different areas
Kernel Samepage Sharing enabled with deferred timer by default to gain some memory usage optimizations, the process sleeps on regular basis and I've profiled it so that there's no battery drains due to it
Simple temperature controls for msm_thermals exposed
Compiled with GCC 6.x optimized toolchain and -O3 plus other hardware specific flags
Undervolted the Adreno 530 GPU voltage rail to keep things cooler
CAF Rebase on major portions of the Kernel has helped lower the memory footprint a lot
ES9218 Quad DAC automatic toggling working inside the kernel for headphone HIFI playback, please read here for details

H918: installed all 3 recommended zip files. Definitely a great improvement. Much cooler phone. Been waiting for this one Omar. Thank you.

Thank you for your amazing work @Omar-Avelar keep up the good work!A suggestion tho, wouldn't be better to switch on a newer GCC version i think it would be a help to you work as 9.1 which is the latest one has many improvements over the previews versions.

All is well.

VS995 Bugs
Thank you so much for this awesome kernel, makes the V20 usable ? Only bugs I'm seeing are no flashlight and camera.
Update: They both work now! Not sure what I did but I'm glad I did it lol

any way to use this on an F800L V20?
It's running the US996DS version of LOS16 perfectly, but Gamma Kernel cannot be installed as-is
did do.devicecheck=0, worked

How is everyone getting the camera to work? Nothings detecting it on my US996-DS...
Edit: [NVM I'm retarded]

Unfortunately, it made my phone even laggier, scrolling was laggier and everything felt worse, I even did a clean install of LOS 16 and it was the same, I don't know if I installed it wrong, I installed the ROM, then gapps, then the kernel and the add ons, and finally magisk. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

I went back to Lineage 15.1, and it was faster again.

The phone touch becomes unresponsive at times many users have reported that on LOS 16 i thought posting it here as possibly is kernel related as with stock lineage never had this issue even on the latest build.Again thanks for your work!

Will any kernel work correctly on V20 F800L?

So I just flashed the most recent version onto my 710 running rr and now my display extends up into my second display except theres a notch where the camera is. Is this supposed to be a feature or have I done something wrong? Am I missing something?
---------- Post added at 08:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:50 PM ----------
Also those who said their camera and flashlight weren't working, what did you do to fix?
Figured it out. I was flashing gamma for the wrong Los version. It's hard to tell when you're on a rom that doesn't state who their base version is. My bad guys

There are v3.2 and v4.0 in download, what's different?

He will add tho he must have done the builds in a hurry and released them for us I'm on v4 what I see is that phone doesn't become unresponsive anymore

Running lineage-16.0-20190625-X86CPU-h910.zip with the latest OpenGApps and v4 plus all the recommendeds from the OP.
I have Bluetooth connection issues with my car stereo/hands free.
What can I provide to help troubleshoot?
* I will be reflashing with the same config minus the v4 kernel just to be sure that's the issue.

WELCOME TO ELITE KERNELS!
Our main goal behind building these kernels is to create a setup that gives a balance between performance and battery life without straying too far from stock. We like to have our cake and eat it too. Our kernels include performance, memory, and scheduling tweaks that enables your phone to come to the party when you are hammering down on it and need performance ASAP, and to go to sleep faster than a basset hound on a warm summer day. We put these kernels together mainly for our own use; so what we release is what we personally use. We hope you enjoy them too!

What is enabled by default? We like to control our kernels with a script run at boot for defaults, although any kernel app can control the built in settings. Here is what we set as default upon boot:
Sweep left 2 sleep
Doubletap 2 wake
CFQ IO scheduler with 1536 read ahead
If you want to change anything you can open up /system/elite/Elite.sh and save and execute (or use your favorite control app). Current method for N Preview has script in /system/su.d/Elite.sh

Recommendations for flashing:
1. If you have flashed another kernel, we suggest you get back the kernel that the ROM you were on came with before flashing Elite Kernel. Easiest way to do this is dirty flash the ROM again.
2. If you think you are getting a bug that is kernel related, please report all of your current setup. Including ROM(and version), any other kernels you've flashed, if you have dirty flashed a ROM update, and any other information we might need and also include a log if possible.
Got it

We set these up out of the box to our liking so the recommended settings are the default ones. I use trickster when I do mess with things though.
First impressions: Been onboard 9 hours on Tesla rom (unofficial) a friend of mine builds for Shamu...Extremely smooth!!Slow drain on battery already seems noticeable to me. Played a zombie killer fps game and no stutters whatsoever. Using kernels default settings. Tks guys!

Also wanted to say I greatly appreciate the way you have your git organized. From a devs perspective it makes it 100x easier to see how you implemented your changes. Very helpful. Thank you!

this is the goal. It makes it easy to just do something like "git pull zen BFS_standlone" and only get the bfs stuff, etc. Also to not have to search through pages of commits to find a certain set of changes.
I get a little unorganized in the misc branches, but I can't have one for everything

SlimRom is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and Gerrit.
SlimLP is currently in alpha stage, some settings are already in place, much is still missing and would come with time. Stay tuned!

Is this ROM have In-call low volume issue like Omni @ChronoMonochrome ? Do I have to apply your fix for this ROM also ?

Normally you should not need to, as low incall volume fix already applied. However, it would be better if someone who does calls often would confirn or refute it, as I have found some changes in sources that may interfere with fix and not sure if it's working.

Geez...my main thought was: isn't it too alpha to waste YOUR time for it?
I mean - their own page is saying, that rom lacks many functions....
I am fan of slim roms, but...
thank you for your great work chrono, i love slimrom. i try this rom today, and removed some not needed apk from installation zip file, like audio fx, browser etc before flashing, and then no sound at all at my phone? this because i remove audio fx or not? cause when using cm12, whenever i removed audio fx, sound still work properly
UDPATE: i try to clear dalvik & cache, and fix permission through twrp, sound working again
other thing is:
-sim toolkit not displayed in app drawer
-a little bit laggy, etc when open app drawer with apex launcher or switching app
-no performance control yet?
Root options are in developer options, pushing build number repeteadly ?

No need to worry about that - if I spending time on this, then I don't do it for nothing. I build it most for myself - but ofc wanted to share with everyone who are interested in that.

thank you for your great work chrono, i love slimrom. i try this rom today, and removed some not needed apk from installation zip file, like audio fx, browser etc before flashing, and then no sound at all at my phone? this because i remove audio fx or not? cause when using cm12, whenever i removed audio fx, sound still work properly

There is no problem with deleting audio fx, maybe try to reflash ROM and delete some things more carefully.
other thing is:
-sim toolkit not displayed in app drawer

Same problem - I'll investigate into it later.
-no performance control yet?

There's no performance control implemented yet - use nofrills or similar app.

yes i have done with fix permission and clear dalvik & cache only from twrp
now sound is ok
I don't know if it's just for me or not, but I noticed worse performance of the runtime and math operations on latest builds - all benchmarks has showed the low results I have ever seen(and it's not only for first run). I've uploaded new build - seems that this bug was fixed.
Changelog:
build ROM with Uber toolchain 4.9 and kernel - with Linaro 4.9.3
enabled JustArchi optimizations v4 for lollipop
extreme kernel optimizations based on commit by @ace2nutzer
added RRO layers 2.1 support
First boot might take significantly more time than usual - but it's definetely better than have worse performance.

I suggest to check ROM + Kernel flags to make sure that u don't break IEEE or ISO rules/specifications for math functions
After that u'll notice best Benchmarks results

He want build WITHOUT gapps to use for ex. MicroG
After about 2 hours it's running pretty smooth considering its the first alpha build. Auto rotation bug that's been mentioned already, touch sensitivity is just a bit sluggish, and permissions dialogs are the only bugs I've noticed. Kernel provides great battery so far, I look at my phone ALOT lol.

FAQ: (Read this before flashing the kernel and reporting bugs!)
Q. Gaming performace isnt good in this kernel!
A. Disable Samsung Hotplug from your preferred kernel tweaker app! Hotplug is disabled in builds from R2 onwards!
Q. Whats Fsync? should i disable it?
A. fsync transfers ("flushes") all modified in-core data of (i.e., modified buffer cache pages for) the file referred to by the file descriptor fd to the disk device (or other permanent storage device) so that all changed information can be retrieved even after the system crashed or was rebooted. This includes writing through or flushing a disk cache if present. The call blocks until the device reports that the transfer has completed. It also flushes metadata information associated with the file (see stat(2)).
Too scientific, didnt read! : In layman terms disabling Fsync gives you better performance with the risk of a Data loss/corruption during a system crash!
Q. I cant Flash NFS injector, FDE.AI, MAGNETAR and other tweakers on this kernel!
A. I have added a in-built kernel blocker to block installation of these so called "AIO kernel tweakers". You shouldnt install these tweaks in my opinion! If you still want to use a Tweaker, i prefer you use KTweak though i wont be providing support for issues if u have flashed any mods or anything of this likeliness!
Q. I have an issue and i have reported it in the XDA thread, yet nobody replied to me.
A. I might be slow in responding for issues reported in the XDA thread, if u want me to reply more faster, report it in the Telegram support group!
Q. My phone gets HOT while using this kernel!?
A. Short answer: It's your own issue, fix it yourself. Nobody makes a kernel just to burn your hands.
Long answer:
* Install Termux app from Play Store * Enable screen rotation, open Termux in landspace mode * Type this command: su -c top -d 2 * A list of processes will appear and refresh with 2s interval. Find which process consumes the most CPU usage with [%CPU] column and the package name in ARGS column. You should see the culprit of your issue.
Reminder: There is no such thing as "I have nothing in background but the phone still heats up". There definitely something happen and 99% of the time it's some of the rogue apps running in background.
Thanks to Diep Quynh for finding this one out!
I've tried it and for some reason left top corner of the screen never responded to touch. Ex: I couldn't turn on wifi from quick toggles n back arrow in some apps as I couldn't make a touch on left corner...
I didn't collect logs as I immediately reverted back to old kernel.

New kernel build is up guys! =)
Currently running the newest build, runs great, thanks for the work. 6h SOT and still 50% battery. Just wondering, any reason hotplug is disabled? Does it really impact performance that bad? Or is it just samsungs implementation? Tried to build a custom version using your source (with a big core oc and an undervolt), cant seem to for some reason. Once again, thanks for the great work. Any way to buy you a Coffee?

Hi mate!
1. hotplug is disabled cuz in my tests i found em to degrade performance and doesnt make much of a difference battery life wise, hence disabled and yes its a samsung implementation.
2. For OC u can pick ace2nutzers a2n kernel commits, i have tested em and it works
3. as for the undervolt, i havent tried em and probably wont be =)
4. Thanks very much, i dont need coffee or beers and stuff, u can hit the thanks button =)
Thanks and regards,
Stay Safe!
I am using this kernel on android 10 oneui
after i flashed the kernel i had weird issue concerning samsung clear case
when i close the case the screen turn on and when i open the case the screen turns off!
it acts in the opposite manner!
N950N supported?
is there any way to change to enforcing?!

Additional features include:
Built with LLVM/Clang (proton-clang) 13
Built with Link-Time Optimizations (LTO) enabled
A fully-revamped Exynos Mobile Scheduler (EMS) optimized for low-latency tasks.
A smarter governor with boost algorithms from the Galaxy S10 as well as 'inferencing' from the S20.
Added additional I/O schedulers, anxiety is set as default.
Various kernel and performance improvements from Linux upstream, and even from Qualcomm devices.
Backported changes from multiple devices, including newer Galaxy devices.
RAM Plus support (requires ROM support), including support for per-process swap.
Disabled basic Samsung hardening (Knox, etc).
Added support for WireGuard VPN tunnel.

Q: What bootloader does this need?A: It is strongly advised to install the One UI 3.1 update before installing Mint, for the most stable experience. Installing on Android 10 will cause issues, and is not supported.Q: I'm locked out (bootloop) after installation. What do I do?A: If you ever experience being locked out after installing any build, with SystemUI restarting after entering your password/PIN, and Samsung Account showing a Samsung Account logged out notification, you may have been experiencing the "Pin Problem".
Several builds of TWRP and OrangeFox have a security patch level (SPL) of 2099-12 (December 2099), but Mint follows the latest SPL available to the device. This causes the device to act up once booted into the kernel. Please note that it is intended behavior by the system and is not a bug.You can flash PassReset, or wipe your device to fix it.See here for more information.Q: I'm signed out from my Samsung Account and cannot log back. What do I do?A: Clear Samsung Account data. You can do either of the following:
With a PC and ADB installed, run this command:
Code:
adb shell pm clear com.osp.app.signin
On a terminal app with root access, do:
Code:
su -c pm clear com.osp.app.signin
Q: I'm experiencing other issues.A: Please report through this feedback form, or the Fresh Community on Discord. Please include logs, screenshots, or screen recordings so I can help you better.
Mint will never be possible without the unwavering work of these awesome people. I have tried my best to keep their authorships on Mint's commit history. Thank you very much!

Hiya
I have your fresh rom installed
And I've been using it for quite a while (Amazing rom btw)
Can i flash the kernel with this rom installed?
Will this work on my A505w with stock oneui 3.1?
so im on stock with root already - when i flash this (root) will it over write my magisk and modules or when i flash nonroot will it clear all my magisk stuff? ...
Quick Update:
I'm currently pulling out the Mint 11.5 release as I have observed instabilities when using specific applications. I thought those were fixed from testing but it seems the issue stems deeper than just a single commit revert.
HUGE apologies. The performance is great if I say so myself, but there are some major issues needed to be fixed.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hello, sorry if its a stupid question, but there is something wrong with a50 ever since it was been updated to android 10/android 11, at least on my a505gt, whenever i get into a discord call, the audio starts to cut alot and it goes to mono sound, would a kernel fix it?
Currently I'm using your kernel with SnakeOS v4.0 and it running smooth like good peanut butter, good work.
@TenSeventy7
The question is, can I use it with any AOSP Android 12 ROM?
