wi-fi disconnects frequently - Sony Xperia 1 Questions & Answers

Hello, my Xperia 1 keeps disconnecting, tried to reboot, reset to stock, restart the router, but I still have issues, am I the only one with that problem? Just wondering if it's a software thing or if I should ask for a return.. Do you guys have same issue?

[Q] Xperia P mobile data issues

I have posted this on the Sony Xperia P forums but I have yet to to get a response. As this is a pressing issue, I have to return the phone to the store by tomorrow at the latest or not at all, I post it here aswell.
I just bought my Xperia P last week. Since I've been having connection issues. It started, as far as I can tell in such a short period of use with the wifi connection. When I would go out of range of my home wifi it would freeze, only fix was to reboot the phone. It would not switch over to mobile data at that point either so I had no connection at all untill I rebooted. I've since been trying to figure out why the wifi froze. I've reinstalled the latest phone update through PC Companion and I've factory resetted the phone on the device itself.
My wifi issues appear to be fixed after this however, and equally annoying, now my mobile data won't work. I see the H appearing next to the reception bars and arrows up and down appear next to it but no web page will load, facebook or mail don't work either. I've been trying going in airplane mode, just toggeling the data connection, rebooting the device, nothing works consistently. Sometimes mobile data will work, but more often it wil not.
I have contacted the store and they are willing to exchange the phone. However, I wanted to check here first to see if this is a common problem, if its a software issue, a new phone won't help much. If it is a software issue, is there anything I can do to fix it myself?
The phone came with ICS preinstalled.

[Q] Wifi not usable, ideas?

Hi,
This morning I randomly decided to update my firmware (as per Sony's incessant reminders). I updated to 17.1.1.A.0.402, as it was what Sony's updating app was telling me the latest firmware was. I updated as instructed on my tablet, wirelessly. The update was successful and totally uneventful -- no incidents whatsoever.
However, immediately after my update, my wifi dropped, and after that, I couldn't reconnect to *any* wifi network whatsoever. I toggled on/off, and the wifi would reconnect for a matter of seconds, maximum 2-3 minutes before dropping and never reconnecting again. To reconnect to wifi, I'd have to toggle off/on again and then would have seconds to try and load a page (but would never succeed)
So, I updated the firmware again, this time using the update application for the Mac since my tablet could no longer connect to wifi.
I successfully updated to 17.1.2.A.0.314.
Still the same wifi dropping and not coming back issues.
Then I tried "repairing" my software from the Mac, which I'm lead to believe erases everything and flashes with the most recent firmware.
Still had the same wifi issues.
Then I tried an erase/factory reset directly from the tablet.
I still have the same wifi issues, but they don't kick in within seconds anymore. Now after several minutes, the wifi will drop and not come back.
Any suggestions for a fix? I'm as of yet unrooted, and would like to remain that way if possible...
Thanks!
I would suggest a factory reset after flashing the update. Might solve your problem.
Before that you could try to delete your Wi-Fi and set it up again...

Thanks for your help
"Repairing" from this Mac app is flashing the update, correct? It erased and then flashed anyway. Had to set up the tablet like it was new. Is that not a factory reset?
In any case, I did a factory reset immediately afterwards, from the settings screen of the tablet, as mentioned above.
By "delete your wifi" do you mean "forget" the networks I'm trying to connect to? If so, I've done that many times, and have had to re set up my wifi networks anyway upon each factory reset/flash/erase.
So I think I tried what you suggested, and no dice, unless I've misunderstood?
Perhaps worth noting: I'm using the accompanying Sony Bluetooth keyboard.
Wifi seems to stick around a bit longer when Bluetooth is toggled off (no keyboard), though I could use the Sony keyboard before the update, no problem at all.
Yes that was what I ment.
Sorry it didn't help solving your problem.
Seems like you should call Sony.
It's the Bluetooth. Wifi and Bluetooth are on the same chip and won't work at the same time. It's a hardware fault with pretty much every Android system I've used. Turn off the Bluetooth and your wifi will be fine.
Thanks for your reply – though it was possible to use the bluetooth keyboard at the same time as wifi before the update.
Bluetooth keyboards would be pretty pointless if you couldn't use wifi at the same time as you use the keyboard, wouldn't they?
Between the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet, a Samsung Galaxy Tab S, and an iPad, I've used all with bluetooth keyboards + wifi without issues (until this firmware update on the Z2).
Use 5GHz Wifi, then the problem will be solved.
Sounds like you have been lucky so far and due to the small amount of data a bluetooth keyboard transmits. Bluetooth headphones are always transmitting as is wifi when watching hd youtube videos. They will always interfere with each other, but only every minute or so. Google the problem and you'll see its pretty universal.

Hi, here's my experience with my Z2 tablet, unrooted. I too have had wifi problems: after using the tablet fine for a while, with a strong signal, the tablet drops out, then wifi access stalls whilst "Obtaining IP address". I sometimes use a Bluetooth Microsoft keyboard, but have had the wifi drop out when I have Bluetooth off.
The only reliable (so far) solution I have found is to move to a static IP address. Not ideal, and perhaps not much help when travelling, but an OK workaround for a home or other wifi network where you have admin access to the router.
Hope that helps. Apologies if my newbie post is naive.

[Q] Z2 doesn't reconnect after losing signal

I got the Z2 and it wont reconnect to the network unless I factory reset the phone. Then its fine untill I lose the signal again.
I got the phone and updated to kitkat via pc companion, it failed midway through and couldn't do anything on my phone so I flashed it with a generic rom. Then the problem started and kept on staying so I decided that to download a different rom and all seemed well until I lost connection again.
It finds every network but mine, this is weird because when I factory reset it then it finds my network again.
also when I restart it then it connects to the network for a second and then the signal disappears again.
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
I think this is software related as he phone showed that it had no signal but when I decided to call someone then the signal came back.
I lost signal again and had to factory reset, installed a network signal speed booster and I see that it restarts the phone's moden....Hopefully this helps.

Intermittent WiFi Drops

Since the BRE5 patch, I've noticed that my S9+ will intermittently "drop" its WiFi connection and reverts back to mobile data. When this happens, the WiFi symbol includes an exclamation mark and a notification message "internet may not be available" appears. The device re-connects by itself within 20 seconds or so.
I've tried different routers, resetting network settings as well as restricting the phone to one frequency, but no luck. This didn't happen prior to the BRE5 patch, so I'm wondering if anyone else on this build has experienced similar behaviour?

I got the same problem since I rooted
Been trying to figure out if its a VENDOR Firmware problem or what. I do know that every developer says its a bug with the s9 when rooting. I've personally watch the live log on TWRP when flashing and seen where it mounts the VENDOR Firmware and then unmounted at the end. So it could possibly be a problem between TWRP and the s9 ROMs idk know exactly yet but I'm looking for a solution also. Keep your head and keep searching also then reply back here when you find something. I'll do the same. Good luck.

Lg v60 Problem with wifi

When I click my wifi icon it lights up like it's trying to turn on, but turns off after a few seconds without connecting. I can temporarily fix the problem by restarting my phone. It will turn on and connect after restarting. But if I turn the wifi off and back on again, it has the same problem. I really don't want to have to restart my phone every time I want to use the wifi, so if anybody has any idea how to fix this, that would be awesome.
Never had that issue, I'm currently on latest fw v10m and no issues at all, connected to Wi-Fi ax router.
Is this a mesh type access point. Been having issues with google wifi. It stops connecting to the same ap after a while but it will connect to the other ap's . Once I reboot I'm back to normal. There is another thread with this info. Unfortunately no fix yet, looks like a bug. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update.
