Thank God! Finally a reason to keep using my v20!!! This is a great news? Thanks!?

Now that is a big surprise when they did announce not that long ago that support for the G5 and V20 had ended.

I'm chalking this up to me emailing LG last week asking about android updates.
You're welcome fellow V20 users.

Marshmallow rom for kiw-l21c185b140(middle east verison)

Hi
Anyone can upload this rom in xda??last night release this update but all phone not get ota update
That's interesting to hear. Do you have confirmed sources that this has been released?
On a side note, I had written a 3-star review, last week, on the site 'honorarabia' deploring the fact that the Middle-eastern model (C185) is yet to receive any attention and pointing out that its European cousin that probably shares the exact same hardware (at least the same model), have had the Marshmallow update back in July. The review was never published.
I didn't get the update on my l21.... If anyone has. Please upload it...

Please help by e-mailing LG to unlock H860 bootloader | It might work!

Hi Guys,
Based on our need to unlock all LG G5 variants, I have tried a new approach by writing to them directly @ https://www.lg.com/eg_en/support/contact/chat-email/email
Could you please try to do the same guys? It might work, guys.
Here is a copy from what I sent.
Hi Team,
Hope you are doing fine.
I have the amazing LG G5 "H860" and I am really enjoying such an experience with the mobile. Still, I would like to have the taste of trying some other mods but the locked bootloader preventing me as well as many other people from doing the same. I understand the risk and I really want to have it done. I already passed the warranty and I have nothing to lose at this point.
However, there is some current petitions in some third-party forums and websites but looks it never reaches LG. Therefore, I take this step and write to you. Could you please take in consideration unlocking the bootloader in the next update at least for this model H860?
Thanks a lot for your kind help and support.
Best regards,
Ahmad

Update: I have had a call from LG Egypt representative regarding this mail. He told that he will escalate the issue to LG Korea to check the availability to include unlocked bootloader in the next update but this requires around 4-6 months based on LG update cycle schedules for LG G5. Guys, please try on your own country website and give some feedback.
I was actually thinking to give a call and raise a ticket. I'll let you know once I do that.
Worth a try for my Sprint version too.
Hi Team,
Hope you are doing fine.
I have the amazing LG G5 "LS992" and I am really enjoying such an experience with the mobile. Still, I would like to have the taste of trying some other mods but the locked bootloader preventing me as well as many other people from doing the same. I understand the risk and I really want to have it done. I already passed the warranty and I have nothing to lose at this point.

Hi guys,
I also sent email to LG about it.
You can find LG site for your country here http://www.lg.com/common/index.jsp
Thank you guys, keep it up. I believe this will work better than posting in their forum or petitions.

When Pie is officially released you won't have to ask. It won't be a secret.
You can install the beta right now if you wish. There's at least three different threads going, to tell you how.
Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+
Hahaha. I'm guessing that a no then. Yes ive seen the threads but still i don't want to risk it. Thanks chazz.

The beta is already out (unofficially) and you can already try it, there are instructions in other threads. So I guess it is not very far from official release.
I'd rather wait, the most exciting part of update is the waiting. Once you get it and find out there is no major upgrade, not to mention few features from previous version are probably gone, it'll lose its charm pretty quickly.

[ROOT] Any Updates on Root?

I currently own the US model of this device. I've done some digging in the forums but I never really come up with very much. If anyone could help I'd be willing to try just about anything to get this phone rooted as long as there's a recovery option. I've read in other threads that the European model can be rooted but the US version has no such luck. If anyone has anymore information please post a reply I would love to get a discussion started. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, yes your appear to be right. I haven't been able to find anything on this device as far as the U.S. version goes anyway. Apparently, the European version has already been rooted with Magisk and an unlocked bootloader. Although no one has said much of anything about this one. I hope there some development soon!!
A shame these dont yet have bootloader unlock etc.. Its a great phone with Awesome specs on it.
I picked up a Like NEw one for 200.00 (u.s. sprint) version. I use it on t-mobile.

• LG V50S: LMG850EMW/LMG850EMWX for the European market
This is the LG G8X (check your device info).
We'll probably have to wait for Firehose to be released for LG Snapdragon 855 to have any hopes for unlocking on Non EU variants
No bootloader unlock available? Was checking developer settings and was able to turn on OEM unlock. Would really like to see some AOSP ROMs available for this phone.
I am very glad to be getting replies here. However, US models are still unrootable as far as I can tell its not listed for the US region but is listed for EU. So far no new updates. Please keep the conversation alive though!! Need a developer to start cracking down on this device please!
If anyone knows any developer's willing to work on this device I will quite literally give them payment to develop a working root method for this device. No joke. I'm not very sure how much power developers have over this device. But I would really love to find out.

How would I go about doing this? Not all that familiar with Xda honestly. I rooted my old phone thanks to this site but I wouldn't know how to contact any developers on this subject.
A shame that this high end phone does not yet have root/rom. (in u.s.) You can pick these up fairly inexpensively (on ebay..as I did)
Hope LG is able to get bootloader unlocked one day or I may have to go back to Xiaomi / Oneplus
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well considering this same device is rooted it would likely mean that eventually we will have something. It might take awhile however. The EU version is definitely rooted and even compatible with Magisk having an unlocked bootloader is fantastic. Especially in this time. However since our country is a bit more controlling when it comes to phone data we may not see one until this device is obsolete. Meaning that LG will have made their money on it and therefore feel safe releasing a bootloader unlock officially..

Not sure yet, I've been stuck on a phone that I'm trying to get out of the way, although I've been considering just moving on to the V60 as I feel I may be heading toward a dead end on the other phone.
News to come, though.
Any updates @haise.zero ? Bought this beauty for myself but im missing out on the EU Firmware :/
Shizuku and an activity launcher that leverages shizuku to perform privileged launches can launch a hidden menu activity that allows you to change the model number.
You might be able to flash to something else with the same OPID that way.
Edit: more information later when I'm on my computer and can provide actual details.

Hasn't still be a way to update the ATT v60 or to cross flash? I think I can't wait anymore but to trade it for another device or sell it off since I'm stuck on June 2020 update

So would that be something like the WTF! method to change the model for the v30? My V30 was a sprint but I was able to change it to the US998 model with that method, thus allowing me to use the custom ROMS for that model. Could something like that be possible for this phone?

I'm not familiar with the V30 or its process, but the process I mentioned would be the way to change models and crossflash over to a less restricted model version to allow easier downgrades and modifications, yeah. It'd (probably) let you work with it through LGUP after a model name change and an OP partition swap

I haven't done much of anything lately. Life has been taking up all of my time.
I ordered new computer parts so that I can finally upgrade to a Ryzen build (been running an FX processor for forever now) and get some real development done. Also hoping for some more spare time soon.
I'll be working on a ROM coupled with a custom recovery primarily but I do understand the importance of needing more people to unlock their devices. This is also something I'm still working on.
My previous partner Codeon doesn't have a V60 nor the time to work on it if he did have one anyways so it's mostly just been me lately and even I haven't done much for a while now.
Hoping I can change that. I'm trying to dedicate my time today to this phone, but as far as getting EDL to work with us without that god damn proprietary GSM box crap, it's just out of my league and I don't understand it. I do know of someone who may be able to help with that and I'll be reaching out to see if they can lend a hand or not.
Sorry for things going so slowly. Thank you for your patience, guys, especially because I know it's running thin right now.
Please update us.
