[MOD][ROOT] Overclock your screen to 75hz refresh rate - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Themes, Apps, and Mods

READ CAREFULLY
Edit: uploaded new mod. Let me now if it works correctly now. This mod won't work on weekly betas since they are based on a different kernel. Apply only on eu stable 10.3.2.0 and below. If there are positive feedbacks on this new mod, I'll try a port for the weekly betas. Thanks.
Hi everyone! After developing a port for the Mi 9T / K20, I got requests for the Mix 3, so I developed this mod for the Mi Mix 3 too. I don't have a Mix 3 to test, but in principle it should work. Let me know in the comments. Just make sure to make a backup of dtbo.img first.
Since the mod is based on the MIUI.eu stable version 10.3.2, it's suggested to use it only on this one for now. You can try on other previous versions, but in case of fails revert back to backup.
- 75hz working perfectly
- Minimal battery drain due to slight overclock from original(60hz)
Use it at your own risk! It is unknown if it causes any long term or temporary damage to the screen yet. (But since it uses the same screen as the mi9, which has the same mod released a while back, it should be fine!)
==================================
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
==================================
MAKE A BACKUP OF DTBO PARTITION FIRST!! (Two Methods choose one)
>>>Via TWRP
- Boot to TWRP
- Select Backup
- Select only the DTBO partition
- Select storage location, click backup
>>>Via Lanthanum System Toolbox App
- Download the attached Lanthanum System Toolbox.apk file, install the apk, then open it
- Select partition settings from the hamburger menu

Can I flash img via lanthanum or twrp? I don't have a pc these days to fastboot flash. BTW thanks for this mod
Sent from my Mi MIX 3 using Tapatalk

Device is SIGNIFICANTLY laggier than stock. Flashing on the latest miui.eu beta rom.
Good thing I took that backup.
Edit: restored backup and phone is back to normal. Something is not right with the image.

@Zenkrey thank s for your work! If i upload eu 9.7.25 dtbo.img can you patch it?

I also had to reflash ROM via twrp cause after dtbo restore via lanthanum I was stuck @ mi logo

Tested on xiaomi.eu 10.3.2 stable, not working properly.
thanks for your efforts, cant wait to have 75hz

Thanks for the feedbacks. Tomorrow I will compile another solution.

Get 36-37fps on 9.7.19. But thx for trying! Waiting for new version!

I tired that yesterday on weekly beta 9.7.25
was ok so far, but since i didnt menttion any difference, i aslo run my backup

Updated mod. This mod still applies to eu stable 10.3.2.0 and below. It won't work on weekly betas since they are based on a different kernel, so give feedback only related to eu stable.

This time I underlined (even more) that this mod won't work on weekly betas.

Will you do this now for beta ROM later?

Any chance of this working on los/aosp like resurrection remix?

Tested on xiaomi.eu 10.3.2 stable, again same result, laggy as hell

Hey man, I know the mod is still in beta, but thanks for your efforts. I wanted to know if I can use the mod in Global 10.3.2. Does it uses the same kernel as eu stable 10.3.2.0?

Hello, recovery .

It times out with unknown something than EVERY partition has to be formatted to a different format then back to EXT4 for me to be able to flash anything else.. maybe it's just my bad luck but are there any steps besides wiping and flashing? I think it is beceause the .zip files are not signed.
If you want FFos as primary OS, you should flash it via fastboot.
Might be very nice of you to add something like "this isn't to be flashed via recovery like normal ROM unless using MULTIROOOOOOM" to OP now that you're aware, unless there's a way to sign these

The only way I know to update without deleting the previous version is to flash FFos as primary rom and flash updates via recovery.
If you want daily changelog, you can read code commits : https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/gaia/commits/master
But it's not easy to understand.
Or you have global changelogs links in the first post.

Backup-Restore function working fine so far, only issue I am seeing is phone is heating up pretty faster than before while backing up in compression mode.
Another minor thing is that earlier when entering recovery mode a purple light used to blink, now its missing.
Just saw this now and I'm really grateful. Big ups to you, man. Great work.
And I was afraid there would be no 3.2.1 for this device;

Weird. Try using flash tool to fastboot the image if the flashable zip doesn't work for you.
Updated from TWRP, backup/restore works, no problems so far apart from it needs more than a minute till TWRP GUI appears after boot. Thanks for update.
Do you use the stock kernel? I installed the recovery built by oshmoun in the omnirom thread. It uses the aosp kernel. It starts faster, has a better sdcard naming and can flash oem images. Maybe you could try this kernel.
I use stock kernel (Pexorom 4.5) so this may be the reason for the delay.
I mean the kernel used with the recovery, not the rom kernel.

This is what i did. Download img, place file on phone. Download twrp app, pick choose a file, browse to recovery.img, flash. Power off, boot to recovery = win.
Reboot to system, retry installing new update = great success.

Certainly missed ODM LOIRE v12, v11 is installed.
Not really sure is the latest bootloader.
Does restoring a backup change the bootloader as well?
Edit: Solved: the answer is 'yes'.
3.2.1 does not work @7.1.2 restore because of outdated bootloader.

What I do not understand, maybe bootloader or encryption, but why is 3.2.1 not backwards compatible on Suzu?
Is Omni 7.1.2 kernel (more I have not tried) or not current boot loader the reason?

Well, logs or it didn't happen.
I am using AB version for a Moto G6 Plus. I boot twrp, and then wipe data and flash the rom and try to reboot. It boots me back to fastboot or gives me another error asking me if I want to try again or do a factory reset.
EDIT: I forgot we need a modified boot.img for our device to be rooted. I restored stock boot.img and the GSI sticks on the boot animation screen.

Just got it to boot after talking to phhusson. Turns out the problem is that ro.build.fingerprint was too long (it takes a maximum of 91 characters.) When I changed it to a shorter, also valid build fingerprint (eg. the one from phhusson's AOSP GSI) then it boots correctly.
I got this error when it boots in google:

Almost all have a size of more than 3GB and do not install them on the phone or when creating the system the size is not sufficient.

I tried to boot them from miui and from aosp and the result almost always is the same. It stays in the miui logo.
What we need is a vendor to operate which is what we do not have and it would also be good to increase the size of the system since many GSIs can not even be installed.
I'm sorry for my English.

Havoc 2.6 booted but didn't really test anything
Found an aroma partition file for redmi2 that I am going to modify for mi 8 lite. Then I will test some of the larger gsi roms. If things work I will post the aroma file for everyone to use. Also only the newest wzsx150 twrp 3.3.0 is compatible with aroma.

by voice recording, do you mean in-call recording?
D this rom is the best I've tried and I've tried almost everything. I know that the comparisons are hateful but at the moment I feel that it is more fluid than any other that I have tried. Great job
SSorry to criticize this but the dock so high up makes my eyes bleed !!! Could you fix this with some configuration option? I love everything else and I want it for everyday use. It goes great

That is stock launcher. Can't really do much about that. But I'll see. Until then you can use custom launchers using magisk.

Use it's recovery, it's better than TWRP, also when you got OTA update , oFox flash it automatically.. good stuff. I god my first OTA update, and when I press update, phone just restart in oFox and update it self, after install restart phone and got new update .. good stuff.. I recommend you to try oFox
