How to Boot in Odin Mode or Recovery Mode on Samsung Galaxy A80? - Samsung Galaxy A80 Questions & Answers

How to start the Galaxy A80 in Odin Mode or Recovery Mode. With all the different possibilities that exist in the meantime, I just can not stand it anymore.
Can an A80 user call the appropriate combinations?

Sorry if this is a dumb question and you've already tried this, but have you tried what the Magisk installation guide says about going into download mode? Since the A80 is released with Android 9 after 2019, maybe this applies.
https :// topjohnwu.github.io / Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root
(Not sure if I can post links, I'd guess I can't since I'm new so I put spaces.)
(Note, I'm not a A80 user but I might buy one if I don't like the A90 so I'd like the A80 to support Magisk...)

Sorry, but I just want to know how to start the download and recovery mode of the A80. I have now tried two or three options, but none worked.
Magisk, TWRP and Root don't interest me yet.

Sorry if my message was not clear. I was not saying that Magisk would solve your problems and that you should install it.
I was saying that the Magisk instructions (which I linked) include instructions to get 2019 Samsung devices with Android 9 in download mode.

https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-a80/recovery-mode/
Try this
and on my note 9 power off the phone completely hold volume down and plug usb in from computer starts Download mode.
It might be same for the A80.
Hope this helps. Thanks

This method does not work, for Galaxy A series there are 2 method to enter Download Mode / ODIN Mode, pressing combination of keys and from Recovery mode, for more detail you can read it at:

[Q] YP-G70 stuck on a screen after failed CWM Flash.

Hello guys. First of all, my native language isn't English, so sorry for something wrong. I'm from the GT-i5500 area, and I have CM10.1 on it. I have a friend wich has a YP-G70, and he loved Jelly Bean. We tryed to flash CWM, to install CM10 on it, but on the installation, Odin said FAIL and it is stuck at a screen. Every time my friend tries do shutdown it, it reboots into the same screen. What can we do? The screen looks like a phone and a computer, and a triangle on the middle.
Thanks anyway.
Its forcable download mode because u did not flash good..probably flashed wrong file..what file did you flash and from what section in Odin.
I had the same experience. I tried to get it off but it can't. I unplugged it off the USB cable and plugged it again, then reflashed. It worked for me.
Please tell me how did you fixed your Galaxy Player 5

Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 YP-G70 (with phisycal home button) bricked.
I accidentally flashed the rom to SGS-I9000B to the SGP 5.0 so it got bricked.
It's status is: doesn't turn on, doesn't enter in dowload mode (Volume down + Home + Power), doesn't show charging icon.
After weeks of exaustive researche, the only way I was able to enter in download mode was using the Adam's Outler procedure: Instaling Linux, Java, Oracle Virtual Box a version of Windows under VBOX, to run Samsung drivers and Odin after using Unbrickable Resurrector R40.
Well, using this procedure SGP 5.0 enters in downloading mode and when I use the PIT file and BootloadersOnly provided by Adam the result in Odin is PASS! Despite that SGP doesn't reboot and keeps the same way: doesn't turn on, doesn't enter in dowload mode (Volume down + Home + Power), doesn't show charging icon.
So I enter in download mode using Unbrickable Resurrector R40 again and try to flash several SGP 5.0 YP-G70 Intl ROMs: Stock Froyo, Stock Ginger Bread and some Customs ROMs most of them PASS in the Odin result BUT SGP 5.0 never reboots or turn on after the procedure.
I have a doubt of marking or not Re-partition in Odin, but the procedure just works if I mark it.
I feel I was close to resurrect it and make it work again but all I've got is frustration.
I'm not an expert as the major of you so I beg some enlightned soul show me the way to make it works: step by step and share with me the right files I have to use to make it works.
I also have installed Heimdall but I was not able to find the appropriate files to use it and SGP 5.0 can not have the batery removed. Someone wrote Adam has developed a tool for SGP full recovery but I didnt find it.
Please, folks, help me and I will share the solution with other people in the same situation.
Thanks and best regards.

Unable to use phones recovery mode

Hi
Sorry my first post is a cry for help.
So I'm trying to install CyanogenMod Android for Samsung Galaxy S II ("i9100") using the following guide http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100. But each time I put the phone into recovery mode I get the following:
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-i9100
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Currently Binary: Samsung Official
So I'm unable to install ClockworkMod
My Kernel Version is 3.0.31 - 1069234 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 19 19:18:54 KST 2013
I've previously rooted by using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282 and its worked fine I was even able to install another ROM something a little closer to the Stock.
Odin is able to see my phone when its in normal mode but unable to see it in recovery mode.
So currently I'm extremely stuck and have exhausted all my googling skills.
To get to recovery its holed vol up home button and then power holed all three till it boots to recovery. Download mode it vol down home and power. Odin doesn't see recovery

Andrew is correct, you're in download when you think you're in recovery. It says Odin mode... That's download.
As already stated, use the volume up key, not down to get recovery mode.
Sent from a galaxy far, far away
I can see him starting a new thread soon. Its gonna be either "help iv bricked my phone" or "help I cant make calls" op you really need to read more. Lots and lots of reading.

Hi
Thank you for the replies already, I can get my phone into recovery mode but Odin and heimdall are unable to see the phone (tried this on multiple computers). I can also get my phone into download mode (Vol up + home + power) but each time I try to install the ROM it fails, but this is not using Clockwork to install. I've tried to get it into fastboot (vol up + vol down + power) but the phone just boots up, I was hoping I could revert my recovery mode.
So currently the phone is stuck with this ROM unable to flash Clockwork and unable to install CM.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Edit: It appears in my haze of typing this last night I got mixed up between recovery and download. So Odin and heimdall are unable to see the phone in download mode (I press vol down + home + power)
Look at @Hopper8 topics and read trouble shooting with odin. Btw what firmware/rom are you on. So you dont have stock or custom recovery? What method did you use to root?

Hi
I'm on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and the Rom is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100 Stock Official Firmwares. Build Number: JZ054K.I9100XWLSN.
I will try @Hopper8 guide:
If Odin won't recognise the phone ...if it does, continue to 'Preliminary Steps'
Firstly, keep trying. Many users will find that Odin will recognise the phone in download mode eventually, but this will take perseverance. Note that if you do get Odin to recognise your phone in download mode, attempt to flash a stock ROM then. Don't unplug it thinking 'you'll try again later'.
Things to try if the phone isn't recognised by Odin:
Open Odin without the phone plugged in. Enter Download mode without the phone plugged in. Now, plug the phone in and wait a few seconds.
Didn't work? Try again in a different USB port. Still didn't work? Try all the USB ports, and then a different computer. If that doesn't work:
Uninstall the USB drivers using Revo Uninstaller. This program can remove the registry edits from the drivers, giving you a completely clean install of the drivers. Reinstall the USB drivers: Samsung USB drivers. If you are using Windows 8, I strongly recommend you try Windows 7/XP. These drivers don’t usually work with Windows 8. (See here if you’re on Windows 8.) Otherwise, use the linked file to the Samsung USB drivers.
If you're still not having any luck, then follow these steps: (Credits to 4-2ndtwin)
1. Turn off both the computer and phone. Fully shut down.
2. Disconnect phone from computer: the USB cable from both the computer and phone.
3. Boot up the computer. Log in and let it settle.
4. Start up Odin and let it settle.
5. Put phone in download mode.
6. Connect phone to a USB port.
If that doesn't work, keep repeating those steps, with different USB ports on your PC/laptop. Change the USB cable you're using, multiple times (preferably use the cable that came with the phone). If all that doesn't work, start again at 'If Odin won't recognise the phone' on a different computer. Keep persevering

And get back to you. Thank you for the information.
Make sure usb debugging in on in phone settings. When you have it working with odin flash philz tar not zip kernel as that will give you root and custom cwm recovery.

Well I feel a little silly right now,
I did original find @Hopper8 guide and tried different USB's till 1am but nothing worked. Just tried again and hey presto it work and CyanogenMod is now installed along with Clockwork.
Once again thank you for the info and for taking pity on this noob, I will endeavor to learn more and try to help out on the forums when I can.
Thank you
Them late nights can make you miss the simple things. No pity mate. Just happy you're sorted.

GT-S5830i enters in recovery mode but not in downlod mode

Hi guys,
I tried but I couldn't find a similar case, so I'm creating this thread...
Well I was flashing my cousin's mobile using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583895
So I had to install the "ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.6 or above", fine, I followed the procedure and it stopped to boot. It freezers when the Samsung logo appear.
Oks, so I started to try to unbrick it following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840645
However my cousin cannot put the mobile on 'Downloading mode'. Well I don't have physical access to the device because I'm in UK and he is in Netherlands...
First question, is there the possibility that indeed the mobile cannot goes to download mode (even thought it goes to recovery mode), or is he probably doing something wrong?
Second, buying a jig cable is it likely that I'll be able to do to download mode? And does any jig cable works? So far I'm panning to buy this one http://www.ebay.nl/itm/USB-JIG-Sams...zer_Ersatzteile_Werkzeuge&hash=item417e78520a
1) That CWM is for GT-S5830, not GT-S5830I.
Get your facts right.
And since you already flashed it,
well
good luck
2) If you can boot into recovery but not download, you have screwed up your phone big time. Attempting to flash a ROM or kernel may help, or it may backfire and make it worse. It may be your last hope before USB Jig.
3) The Jig is the last hope for your phone. It may work, it may not. Depends on luck, maybe.

I completely agree with @NightRaven49. You have pretty much hard-bricked your phone. USB Jig might not work always as it didn't help solve any hard-bricked Galaxy Ace S5830. You last option will be to go to Service Center. Hope I Helped
Well, thanks guys... I will try my luck with the jig cable...
One last question, I have to download a firmware from www . sammobile. com/firmwares/ . So as it was bought in Germany with no sim card, the correct firmware is 'Germany - DBT', right?
Any firmware should (technically) work on your phone.

Here's How
CWM 6+ is only for Ace S5830 (Not i Not c Not M)
apparently we only have CWM5 for our Ace-i (which is sad), of course you're phone will be soft bricked if you try to do so
also Ace-i has a different key combinations compared Ace
Ace-i
Recovery Mode = Home Button + Volume Up + Power [when Samsung Galaxy Ace screen appears, let go already]
Odin / Download Mode = Volume Down + Volume Up + Power [same procedure]
hope i helped
i think ur talking about download mode is not working (vol up+ vol down+ power) !! 1st open odin and add ur files !! pull out battery use that combo buttons (volup+voldown+power) and connect device to pc !!! odin will detect ur device ! now enter battery in mobile and start flashing !!! good luck it works !!!

[Q] Bricked my Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830i)

Hello,
I tried to reinstall a custom rom but I forgot to install it with CWM so it was installed with the default Android recovery. After the ZIP was installed I rebooted my phone but now it doesn't get any further than the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i logo. I tried to boot in recovery and download mode but both of them doesn't work. I hope some of you can help me. I bricked my phone before but then I could get into download mode but now I don't.
Thanks a lot

As you can't enter the Recovery Mode and Download Mode, you have pretty much hard-bricked your phone. Since the above method didn't work, then you can try the USB Jig (not always guaranteed to work). Galaxy A10s shuts down after update is 99% complete

Hello everyone,
I searched a lot for my problem but couldn't find any solution so I decided to post here...
I tried to update my mothers Galaxy A10s officially from the settings but after restarting and booting to blue screen which it shows percentage of installing update , install goes until 99% then it shuts down and doesn't boot up when I hold power button , I tried every combination like power + volume down or volume down then power button and etc. only the power button + volume up works which it boots the installing screen and same happens , 99% and shuts down!
I installed samsung usb driver and odin then I connected the phone holding volume up and down , the download screen for firmware shows up successfully , but here is my question , is there any way that I can update the phone without losing data on it? I'm pretty sure that the downloaded update on phone is corrupt , is there any way to replace it from computer and let it update normally?
data on the phone are really important to my mother and if I flash the phone , they are lost! so please let me know if there is any way to fix this issue , thanks
hi i encountered exactly this same issue, could you elaborate a bit more how to get the download screen for firmware? while i'm worried about data loss as well, i rather have a working phone.

First download your phones USB driver , you can simply search Samsung Galaxy A10s USB driver in google ,
To make sure your phone is connected to your pc correctly you can also download Odin ,
Connect your phone to you PC while holding Volume up + Volume down at the same time , it should boot up to Download screen asking you to continue or restast by volume up and down ,
As I found other ppl in other threads in this forum also having same issue in recent days , seems the update package from samsung was corrupt and there is no samsung tech support in my area
yeah same here no samsung tech support as far as i know
thanks
the device is also not my device and not in my possesion so i'll need to pass along the information to a less tech savy person. i hope i don't send the wrong links

I'm pretty sure that the downloaded update on phone is corrupt , is there any way to replace it from computer and let it update normally?
data on the phone are really important to my mother and if I flash the phone , they are lost! so please let me know if there is any way to fix this issue

Thanks for your help , yeah I know how to flash the device , but this was really strange happening since we did official samsung update and broke the firmware so we weren't prepared to get backup first since they are legit updates and we put our trust in samsung and their testing before releasing updates , now I know they have really poor testing on their softwares before release , I can flash but it will delete all the data and pictures on my mothers phone ....

I just found the solution and fixed it! , no data is corrupt and its working like a charm.
To fix follow these instructions:
1. First download your phone firmware (
Download A10S Firmware Binary 5 SM-A107F https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A107F
SM-A107M https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A107M )
*Note: Find your own phones build number , there is no way to find out just to try one of them and see if you get an error or not, if you get the error you have downloaded the wrong firmware and it will show you the correct build number in download mode. (Their partition table size is also different)
2. Download pit file from this link: https://gsm-flash.com/samsung-galaxy-a10s-pit-file-download-a107/
(A107M or A107F)
3. Load onto odin BL, AP, CP, HOME_CSC (*ITS IMPORTANT TO SELECT HOME_CSC NOT CSC OTHERWISE YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST*)
4. In Pit tab , attach the pit file you just downloaded from the link above. next make sure in option tab , re.partition check box is checked.
5. HOLD VOLUME + & - TOGETHER AND PLUG IN USB CABLE CONNECT TO YOUR PC DOWNLOAD MODE WILL COME UP VOLUME UP TO CONTINUE AND ID COM PORT WILL BE ADDED ON ODIN
6. Press Start and Flash
Enjoy!
* My phone version was A107F. and build number A107FXXU8CUG1

Encountering problems when doing an OTA update is *very* common - on ALL models. It doesn't mean that the update wasn't tested, and it doesn't mean that every single user is going to get the same issue. It just happens because technology isn't perfect. That's why it's your responsibility to keep your data backed up at all times
