SIM is HD capable - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I've got my Mi A3 since saturday and I am really satisfied with it until now. Only one thing sucks - Everytime I go back to a 4G network, there is a notification that the SIM is HD capable. I can't disable it, seems this problem was also for the Mi A1, but the process com.codeaurora.ims isn't listed under app info...
Another thing is Wifi call. I could enable it (in the menu) by *#*#869434#*#*, but it doesn't work for me (O2 Germany).

1. Disable/Turn Off Enhanced 4G LTE Mode in Settings>Network & Internet>Mobile Network>Sim
2. The file that you're looking for is "org.codeaurora.ims" not "com.codeaurora.ims"

Thanks, found it . But I can't disable notifications for it and turning off VoLTE also isn't an option, I have some regions where I have only 4G, so when I disable it I can no longer take a call there...

Realy only 4G? Most Cells also provide 2G.

Yes, in my cellar for example. 4G with full power. When I disable VoLTE, phone turns to 3G when I take a call with only 1 bar and sometimes the call breaks off. Also had the case when I go up that I get a message that I lost a call. Didn't check what's the behaviour when I switch to 2G only, but I think that would'nt be a solution. I've got a phone that provides VoLTE, so I want to use it. My wife's Mi A2 also has VoLTE, but there isn't such a stupid notification...

My phone kept switching to edge because the wcdma signal in my area is very low but 3 bars of edge is worse than 1 bar of hsdpa+ (no lte in enterprise al) so I choose wcdma only and I always have signal. You can set preferences or choose certain signals only but be aware if you change to a specific signal only and it's not there you will loose service... If you ever need to reset the settings and can't remember the code removing the sim card and reinstalling it resets back to default.
Here's where I found this I take no credit but I can confirm it works on the at&t version of the One.

I thought I saw it in the user manual. Looking at tech specs, no LTE. I read this thread because I wanted to disable Edge, I would rather have no data connection at that time then the frustration of NOTHING connecting on edge.

Awesome! I just got mine today (Australian version) and don't have the mobile carrier menu, which I think is ridiculous. This did the trick for me to disable LTE
This is the procedure I have used to disable LTE after finally figuring out that my "missed calls with no notification whatsoever" issue (unless caller leaves a VM) was caused by having LTE enabled. Something to do with the One having to switch to HSDPA for voice and the handoff not working right. Sucks not using LTE but I can't be missing calls....
Works a treat, too bad we have to dive into a Service Menu to choose our network preferences.... Thanks ATT...

How long will this maintain your selected network? I've used this many times on past phones, but carrier settings have frequently reverted the setting automatically. at the least, it will reset itself on boot (which isn't necessarily that big of a deal, unless you're Dev-ing and rebooting frequently.). If rooted, there are a number of ways to be able to easily select your desired connection type and have it stick. glad to hear this has worked for your needs so far.

It will revert back after air plane mode/disabling data and on restarts. I just use the app if I notice I'm on edge which is rare and pretty obvious. This is my first smart phone ever since my htc excaliber windows phone that I haven't run unofficial software on. it's just a great package and I feel I'll deal with more issues rooted than I do stock. Can't wait for 4.3 next week the ONLY thing I miss is battery percentage in notification bar lol
I would like to have WCDMA/GSM (auto), but that option is not present.
I'm guessing WCDMA preferred would do the trick? I currently have GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto but I don't use LTE..

Here's a little trick for anyone that's rooted - If you want to be able get the Preferred network mode list when selecting Settings>Mobile Data>Network Mode, you have to change your sku ID in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml. Using a text editor (I always just use the text editor built in to Root Browser), find
Code:
<item type="integer" name="sku_id">7</item>
almost at the end. 7 is ATT's sku, and gives you things like ATT's Data Icons and lying signal bars, but will also enable the NFC icon in the status bar when it's on and remove the Preferred Network mode from Settings. Changing this to 11 will set it as TMobile - Tmo data icons and other tmo settings (I believe T Mobile has the Preferred Network mode settings as well). Changing it to 42 will set it with WWE device settings, so you'll get generic HTC data icons, signal bars that actually work, network mode settings, etc. Obviously Save and Reboot after making the change.

As I know that is not a problem . reason behind Switching network lte to 3g is that there is no call support available for 4g.

You are aware that voice over lte (volte) is a thing right?
On most carriers you can absolutely call over lte, so IDK what the hell you're talking about
EDIT: at least here in the states, we have volte, not sure where you live, but sucks if you don't.
On topic though, I'm not sure what's up with your volte. I'm on O official and I just checked and my advanced calling is working fine and not greyed out.
I show it as enabled on mine. How did you update to O? I dirty flashed the factory image via fastboot. I am roaming though currently.
I did have some issues with Carrier Services though a couple of months ago. Have you tried rolling that back, rebooting your device, and seeing if you can enable Enhanced LTE?

Yep, T-Mobile. And it stays on LTE all the time. It's lte before a call, lte during a call, and lte after a call.
I manually flashed (clean flash) the imaged though.

I had this problem and I had a hunch after checking the *#*#4636#*#* menu that everything was enabled. It did say wifi calling was unregistered but was enabled. Same with the volte option, so when I got home I made sure to make a wifi calling enabled call. Then disabled wifi to verify my hunch and made a regular cellular call and viola volte was working. Might be something to try if you have not.
My LTE hasn't functioned ever since I updated to Android 8. I cannot get access to the internet, links pasted in whatsapp chats do not work. I still get whatsapp messages and emails but no access to internet either from links or from Firefox/Chrome. Plus, the LTE band is perenially off.

I am on T-Mobile running 8.0.0 OP6.170623.019 build. I can confirm that VoLTE is working for me.
My phone stays on LTE while on a call.
Wi-Fi calling also works, as does native Visual Voicemail.
You may want to try going to the APN settings and "Reset to default". Afterwards, check the top one if it is not already selected.
The IMS ones are for VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and SMS over IMS.

I have read it is better, but not completely fixed with the new baseband image. Personally never had the issue myself. I am in NYC and we have B4, B12, and B2 all deployed. I am in and out of the subway so my phone drops and re-connects many times a day without issue. I did have some issues after the 6.0.1 update, but solved it by forcing my phone to 2G, then 3G, then LTE. I never had an issue after that.

Anyone have WiFi Calling enabled and working on T-Mobile US?

I really need WiFi Calling in order to reasonably use this phone for calls from my house due to a poor Network signal. There is no Wifi Calling option in Calls -> Settings or in Settings -> Network & internet -> Mobile network anywhere. Also when I do *#*#4636#*#* and go into Phone information Wifi Calling Provisioned option is grayed out.
Nope. Last time I saw wifi calling available was on the XZP. Wasn't an option for the XZ3, and still not an option for the Xperia 1. Try giving tmobile a call or maybe sony support and ask if they can add wifi calling support.

Nope, no wifi calling for me. I originally had the J9110 model (international dual sim, hong kong) but i recently flashed it with the US firmware. No dice, unfortunately. But since changing to the US firmware, I now get VoLTE and group message in Android Messages. It's a start.
Ya VoLTE is working fine and appears as provisioned in the hidden menu. So it seems like I will have to do something similar to what I did on the XZ Premium in order to get WiFi Calling...but I will wait until there is a DRM backup process.

I see the same thing as you. How did you do it on the xz premium?
I had to root it and flash a zip that someone made for it, it might be possible to use the same zip but I'm not going to root mine until there is a DRM backup method. I barely every talk on the phone without LTE service so it's more so just really annoying not having WiFi Calling. I think a bunch of people were using the same zip for the 2017/2018 xperia phones to get it working.
I have XZ premium and XZ1 and wifi calling option is displayed when I use the Jio sim but not displayed when using Airtel sim (using Airtel broadband), so our phones do have wifi calling facility but working only with Jio sim, although Sony is not shown in the compatible phones list. I am in India.
That also stresses me out on My Xperia 5. Don't know If You talked about My Zips for VoLTE and the other Features but i didn't get it to work actually on Android 10. Possible that i just don't have the right Firmware atm (Customized EU / My Devices Firmware isn't Out yet), so i'm using Custom UK Firmware but that should also work... I'm a bit confused so i switched to GSIs which Made it even worse... Looks like we should start making Custom Vendors for our Xperias since the Methods changed over Android 7-8-9-10
Can you flash the dual sim model to work with a single sim firmware and does Wi-fi Calling Work later?
yes, that's what i did with my xz3. volte works with tmobile, but not att.

Can't get VoWifi to work

Hi, I am getting desperate now trying to get VoWifi/wifi calling to work on my mate 20 pro.
My wife has the same phone, and same Carrier (even same plan)
The carrier is called Talkmore which is an daughter company of Telenor. I'm living in Norway btw.
The thing is that on my wifes phone, the carrier says Telenor ViWifi in the top corner, but on mine it says Talkmore HD.
We did have different apn's also, but I changed it on mine to the same as my wifes phone, but still it's then same.
And yes, I have turned on Wifi calling in the settings
I have talked to Talkmore, and everything is okey on their part, and you know there is not much tech help to get from carrier employees.
Does anyone have any tips that I can try. It would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There is a difference on mine and hers. The first photo is mine, the second one hers.
Some carrier are calling Volte and/or Vowifi HD. Maybe yours is one of them.
Disable Vowifi, Choose airplane mode, then enable wifi, then enable vowifi.
Does HD icon shows while still on airplane mode with wifi and vowifi on ? -If so, your carrier use the HD icon for vowifi.
Your carrier is actually using HD icon for Volte.

Cannot enable VoLTE

Hello
I'm having this issue, I cannot enable volte. Vowifi is enabled and working fine. I have tried pretty much everything, the dial numbers etc.
I'm running stock miui global 12.2.7.
I'm posting a couple of screenshots, one is from the dial *#*#4636#*#* phone information and the other from network settings where volte toggle is nowhere to be found.
If you get 4G you have VOLTE. If you get 4G+ you have VOLTE-E. If your connection drops back to 3G in calls its because of either calling another network or the other phone is in a 3G area.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
The area I live in has mostly 5G coverage and when not available, 4G+ and 4G.
All I'm saying is I can't enable it as you can see in the screenshots. There's no option in the settings, and the option is unclickable in *#*#4636#*#* menu.
The Volte sign never shows in the status bar, and in the call history, I don't get the HD sign next to the names, only the WiFi - when the call is on VoWiFi. - which is logic, sign I can't get to turn it on.
Thanks in advance.
