Help with fixing hard bricked MTK phone (PhonePad Duo S7/M-PPAS7) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, i have hard bricked my PhonePad Duo S7 / ppxs7 (MT6737) while installing firmware update by accidentally unhooking the cable. I am wondering if anyone can help me fix this issue. The phone hardware is all in good condition but the software seems to be completely wrecked, the phone doesn't start at all no matter what combination of buttons and how long i hold it. I tried to flash it again, to no avail because my PC doesn't recognize the phone anymore. I tried to charge it and it didn't do anything either. When i connect the phone to the PC i hear the connection sound and a warning pops up "device not recognized", you can see it in the image i attached below ( also image of what it looks like now in device manager ). I am confident there is a way to fix this, i just need to find a way to make it recognizable once more. Ive sent an email to the manufacturer as well but i hope i might in the meanwhile find a solution as they are not guaranteed to respond, i do not have warranty on this phone. I would be extremely super thankful to any input related to my case.

As long the the hardware is not damaged, it is recoverable. First, are you unchecking preloader when flashing? If still it doesn't work., then keep phone charging overnight to see if you get a response. Other than that, you might have to get your motherboard replaced. :good:

I was experimenting on an old device (lenovo tab 2 a7 30hc) and hard bricked it.
I've been trying to install the stock rom from SP Flash tool and installed the mtk vcom preloader drivers but the phone still won't get detected.
Someone please help me out here please.

I had similar soft brick problem with MTK tablet. Generally you need to remove battery (or unplug the battery connector) and install (plug) it back. If your battery has soldered wires you need to unsolder Vcc (usually red) wire and solder it back after a while (like a couple minutes after). If your battery is not able to remove/unsolder/unplug your only solution is discharge the battery and it can takes a long time.

Pleas help is my TG01 dead or ... ????

Hi,
Hope u help me guys as im really sad my TG01 looking completely dead.
What i did. I wanted just flash new soft from Miro so i charged the phone and did flash my phone from SD card as i did many times. After my phone stack in Logo TOSHIBA and just flash over and over. So i found the way how to unbrick the phone. So as they said i conected the phone to charger and after i connected pin 1-3 and press the power button the mobile vibrate and that was the last thing hi did. After that i cant charge it, screen is black, mobile is not connecting to PC at all (pc dont even recognise that the phone was connected to USB no sign of new usb item or start to instal drivers or so) so i dont really know what happend or whats wrong. I installed TG down loader with driver but there is no sign of connection after i connect phone to PC.
Can anybody help pleas ????

why press power button
plase do this step! by step!:
2 Short-Pin unbrick method
1. Copy a functional ROM on SD Card. PRG folder
2. Rename to TG01WP_00.enc
3. Put the battery in and plug Power- Kable. Charging LED flash RED *
4. short pin 1 and 3 (back side under sim card, remove black plastic) Hold the short and RESET. Hold short pin 1 and 3 for 10 sec. Display go on and ROM flash beginn
Yes i did tray this couple of times but with no success , when i plugged charger the charging red light dont flash red but i tray it anyway with charger on and off aswell.
I did it with the power button cose i read that somewhere and im scared i did burn or so something in MB as i had power charger plugged in i then short the pin 1 and 3 and then press power button. this is probably very bad way to go. the mobile is not responding to anything i tray
My TG01 has the same problem. I tried many times to flash a new ROM by "2 Short-Pin unbrick method" but nothing. @mirolg if you have some other ideas we are glad to hear you and to try on our dead phones.

If you can't boot it into recovery, it's pretty much bricked. Look around for people offering to JTAG it to recover.
Before I consider helping you, why on earth would you attempt flashing this? Why not instead flash a 4.3 rom? I have to know you were intentionally trying to lock your bootloader before I try to help....it just feels so wrong giving instructions for locking a bootloader

I bet it would still get into download mode since aboot wasnt flashed, well I guess it depends on whether or not the phone even attempts to boot or not though. I've gotten my S4 out of qhusb by keep the charger plugged in and constantly removing and inserting the battery.

Very likely. It's pretty hard to brick this phone into a state where it can't be recovered.
However, I've seen people do amazing things like flashing GS3 ROMs and wondering why they didn't work. Or less crazy, flashing AT&T ROMs on a VZ phone. People that stupid are why Verizon is so anal about locking down their phones.
I was just trying to update it to 4.3 since OTA didnt work I taught this was stock odin flashable image...

Stock mean locked boot loader!!
What USB cable did you use and what port on the computer? While it's a bit of a stupid question I had a problem like that when doing an ODIN restore and tried all kinds of fixes including a totally different computer and it turns out the USB cable I was using was crap even though it'd transfer files over fine, ODIN didn't like it.
If you can't get it out of QHUSB DLOAD with button pressing, you can try this tool http://forum.legija.net/showthread....g-galaxy-S4-(i9505-and-similar)-via-USB-Cable.

It was COM3 port, and it was OEM samsung usb cable...
I Tried everything i can but there is no way to get into download/recovery mod...
I had a similar problem the other day, don't worry. Depending on whatever build you were on before you bricked it, download that baseband and odin it on there. It did wonders for me and should work for you.
Solved... The device was hardbricked.... JTAG did the trick, cost me about 35$

SP Flash Tool is stuck as 0% with Lenovo s860 2GB(non-removable battery)

My phone is now bricked because I tried to flash the stock ROM(4.4.2) to my phone(6.0.1). At the time, I didn't know that you must format the phone before I guess, "downgrading" it. After I searched on google that I should format it, I went to SP Flash Tool to format it, and the phone got formatted. Now, all I need to do is to flash the stock ROM right? So I did flash the stock ROM to my phone, made sure that VCOM drivers are installed, using the latest version of SP Flash Tool. BUT, when I connected the phone to my laptop(through USB), the laptop detected it, when I press the Download button on the SP Flash Tool it's just at 0%. I tried to use the Firmware upgrade but still, stuck at 0%. I tried it on another PC and still, no luck. What do I do??? PLEASE HELP. I have until afternoon to fix it on my own because I'll give it to the local mobile repair shop.
BTW, the phone is still charging as I'm writing this thread
First of all install the drivers to your pc
Then, enable usb debugging in developer options in settings
Then, connect your phone
Now check whether pc recognize your phone if yes
Then, power off your phone
Now find the scatter file in sp flash tool and then click on download button
After it connect your switched off phone to pc with a usb cable
You will see that sp flash tool will recognize your device and start formatting and then downloading....
All this process will takes only 4-5 minutes at most.

I fixed mine by connecting the test point
You must open your phone and connect ground (any wire to ground) and find the preloader testpoint
Mine was the second test point near the volume control and power button next to the sim or black cable under the orange plastic covering the connector
I dont have the picture but i can give you an example (not s860 but similar)
WARNING: FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
BE CAREFUL OR YOUR PHONE WILL BE DEAD!

(not actual photo)
Those are test points, find a wire (any electrical wire) screw it to the screw that's holding the motherboard (for ground) and try each one of the test point, be careful not to connect the wire to vcc, vcharge or any 4.xx pins (if you were checking using a multimeter)
Here's a video for disassembling the phone : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry37RjmnZRo
And here's for reference : http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f672/lenovo-a850-dead-boot-how-easy-jtag-1868940/index2.html
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f958/a850-lenovo-dead-while-flashing-1888753/
After you find the test point, the phone will be detected by the computer as vcom or something, quickly install the mtk65xx driver (if you haven't install yet) and flash the stock rom using sp flash.
Best of luck.

Starting a cracked phone ??

Hi all ! Mods please move the thread if its wrong place, excuse my inexperience
I have an old phone made in 2014 , LG-P705 . Recently i have realized i had much much important files in it .
Whatever.. The problem is the phone's screen was cracked completely tried to fix it , bought a screen from chinese market then i gave up on it in 2014.
So we have a phone that LCD screen won't work at all. But the motherboard has not taken any damage. I charged the phone and it is alive. It vibrates when i turn it on and off .
i want to boot this phone and take the important files out. Is there any possible ways that we could start it guys ?
I have some ideas but not enough knowledge nor i am geeky about this stuffs. I think we could do a kind of a "mirror" between the Computer and the phone so that we will be able to see the files from the computer. Will it work ? Will we be able to see the files in it from the pc without using the screen ?
I am open to ideas. I need some geeks around here
.

Do you have a custom recovery installed on it? There's a chance it has mtp enabled. If you're in luck, starting it in recovery mode will have your phone boot up in an USB connectable mode. So if you can hold volume down + power, give that a try, wait a minute for it to boot in recovery and try connecting it with a USB cable. It's worth a shot.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes i probably do have custom recovery installed . I poked up with it at the time it probably has custom Rom and that android interface which lets you to get into the othercustom roms. So yeah.
I am currently using an iPhone ever since, So the current android charger is partly broken i must hold it upwards until it function properly. I will update it when i get a new charger . I may order some touchscreen plus LCD if i could find .

An iWhat? Never heard of it. Must be some fake knockoff [emoji16]
Oh and if it doesn't have mtp enabled but you can access ADB (check with 'adb devices'), this command should work:
Code:
adb shell svc usb setFunctions mtp
If not, you could probably pull files manually. I'm not sure if it works on folders but it would look like something like this:
Code:
adb pull /storage/emulated/0/DCIM
Path could be a lot of things like /sdcard, /mnt/0, /mnt/sdcard, etc.

Carefull gingerbread i warned myself :fingers-crossed::victory:
When I was at Junior High in 9th grade I broke my Samsung GT-S5300 due to improperly install of incorrect custom rom (lollipop) to my phone that's why the device can't read my sd card even the gallery is empty. I broke it on last 2017. And now 2022 I tried to repair it via odin because our school allow us to borrow a laptop (which is I don't have) then repair my phone there and boom! I got my Samsung GT-S5300 back again to normal. It's now 5 years old. I love that phone because it's so hard to break it. I remember I throw my phone and then it's still alive. Until now it's still alive (but the home key don't work) but I can still use it. My favorite phone is this samsung gt-s5300. I'm planning to buy the same phone like this but I can't find it in the market (because it's phased out or not available). By christmas I will buy Samsung GT-S5360 (even if I have much money I don't like luxurious phones).
