Fortnite Possible? - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I saw on YouTube that some reviewers were playing Fortnite iny the A3. Is this actually possible? Because even I install it, it says gpu uncompatible.

Nope you can't played Fortnite on Mi A3...those video from youtube is fake as some of them claimed it is Mi A3 but if you look closer you find out it is actually CC9...

BAD N.O.V.A. 3 Graphics on Nexus 9 compared to REDMI 1s or other similar phones!

I just started playing NOVA 3 Freedom Edition on my Nexus 9 and I noticed a huge difference in graphics quality from the Redmi 1s or even other phones version of the game! I think technically Graphics in a Tegra tablet should be far better than a normal Snapdragon Phone! BUT this is just the opposite! Although I don't get any fps drops or stuttering in the Nexus against the Redmi 1s's low fps and frequent stutters, it still is disappointing looking at that quality of graphics. Is there any way to fix this?
P.S.: Have tried downloading the OBB from in-game as well as from Play store. Same problem. Also I have screenshots from both devices but can't post because of 10-post threshold.

i think maybe it is because of screen resolution..the developer should provide hd for tablet instead of play same resolution for large screen..

The game was specifically tailored for phones and 16:9 aspect ratio. The nexus 9 is 4:3 which makes games look graphically weird (like Real Racing 3) even though the tablet is capable of providing a crisp resolution. It's just poor optimization from the developers, or just lazy, I guess.

Netflix HDR on Mate 10 Pro

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but from what I understand this phone supports HDR10 and all the necessary Widevine DRM for Netflix to be able to support HDR (which would be cool), presumably fairly easily. They've just added support for the Razer phone.
I've just opened a chat session with Netflix to enquire about it and they didn't have an update but I asked them to put in a feature request for it. This took a couple of minutes.
I just thought perhaps that if other users on here care about this and were to do the same thing (maybe with Google for YouTube too), it might speed things up a bit?
Got my mate 10 pro and a bit dissappointed because it does not support even HD on Netflix.
I am on their 4K tier
I saw that it had Widevine L1, but I couldn't get Netflix to play above 720x480.

DRM Missing - Fixable?

The Mi Pad 4 is missing DRM, so for example Netflix won't work in HD. That's a real bummer for a media device like this one. Is this fixable with Lineage OS or is it a hardware thing, that can't be changed or tricked?
Most probably not, some oneplus devices (like my 3t) are shipped with support for widevine level 3, and not widevine level 1 which is required for HD. Oneplus offered to "upgrade" some oneplus 5 or 5t to widevine level 1 but users had to send their devices to oneplus so that drm keys could be installed.
This is not something that every one can do.
I searched a little longer for an ultimate answer. There are two major things I learned:
1) there are devices from Xiaomi which have L1 widevine. My theory is, that this could be the global versions, but I don't know if there will be a global version of the Mi Pad 4.
2) for some devices it is possible to fake the widevine L1. There are some Lineage OS ROMs which integrated this, but therefore we need a maintainer.
So it doesn't look very good.
I just received my Mi Pad 4. It has MIUI 9.6.8.0 Stable.
Even though I had to install netflix through apkmirror, it worked perfect and the image quality is crisp HD. Same for Amazon Prime. Am I missing something?

Could you upload screenshot of this app ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfung.drminfo
As you can see Widevine Level L3 & ClearKey CDM 1.0 are available (at least on my device).
I tested the video quality with Teen Titans Go, because it has nice, sharp lines, and it look good to my eyes.

Level 3 won't provide HD Netflix, only level 1. Even then to get official HD support from Netflix you need to have a device whitelisted by Netflix themselves. There was an app which got round this whitelisting though but level 1 is a necessity.

Strange, it looks plenty sharp with the build I downloaded (Netflix 6.8.0 build 28945). Also, when I downloaded Teen Titans Go S01E01 it's 177 MB for a 22m episode. I think that's the HD version, no?

The best way to see if you're getting hd or not is to play the 'test patterns' videos on Netflix and see what resolution it plays up to. In the top right there will be the frame rate and resolution which will increase to your maximum permitted by Netflix. Without Widevine level 1 you won't get HD.
But on the device info page on their website it says that devices with the 670 soc from Qualcomm will have HD: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23939
There are apps in the play store that show DRM support. If you search for widevine in the play store DRM Info comes up which will tell you what is supported on the device.
ctgchaos can you see what it says on your device?
DRM info shows widevine L3.

Jep and usually you nee L1 Widevine for Netflix and Co. But it seems to work just fine.
Netflix will still work with L3 but you just won't be able to stream higher than 480p. This is also a hardware DRM limitation so unless they do something there, no HD netflix or amazon prime video
For me it looks definitely better than 480p so I doubt that..
Edit: its 480p but it looks better than expected
Netflix said HD should be possible: https://twitter.com/Netflixhelps/status/1030121266982907904

I think they mean it's possible if the MFG wants to do it. Xiaomi doesn't really care though since they don't have Netflix in China.
I'm thinking about buying the Mi Pad 4. Is this still an issue? Netflix won't play higher than 480p?

Yes, I guess they designed a single case for both normal and armoured edition considering the measurements of armored edition.

In many YouTube reviews of the phone, I have found that initially they were able to install Asphalt 9 and weirdly not available anymore for POCO F1 lately. So after consultation with POCO officials (reviewers claim) it is being said that it's a Developer Issue and will be soon sorted out. The same issue exists for Asus Zenfone 5Z as well according to them.
I installed Asphalt 9 on my Pocophone yesterday 7AM

If it it helps I have COS7 on the 10XZ and can play full HD content on Netflix and Disney+
"0.46GB/hr" what does this mean? In terms of quality do you mean you are only getting 480p?

thanks for you reply, good to hear that. one more question, can you remember if you can play at 1080P when you were on cos 6?
yes, you are right, in prime video app, when choose streaming quality the "BEST" i get is 0.46GB/hr, meaning 480P. My wife's p30 pro has BEST like 1.8GB/hr.
i was suprised that my old pixel 2xl had same 0.46GB/hr, never notice that before.
also may i ask couple of more question since you are here.
how is your cos 7 experience? i read from chinese web, many users compalint about lag, battery, heating, and other issues. moreover when i read from Gsmarena "Oppo Reno 10x zoom - user opinions and reviews" most of people there had issues with cos7, and most of them suggest stay on cos6.
i am confused.

My experience with COS7
Faster, more fluid usability. No lags. None with COS6 either, but the UI is now even smoother.
I'm using the global model (CPH1919). The Chinese model is inferior to the global model and as such, users will experience some variation between COS6 and COS7.
Ignore any reviews, etc from China. It's different.
In answer to your issue with HD, I can confirm that I had no issues with receiving HD - 1080 or 4K. I'm wondering if your settings on your app are set to "Auto". This can happen with YouTube and if you manually request 1080 or above, then that will be the normal setting (unless a video is specifically of a lower standard format of course).
I have attached an example from YouTube settings. I have overridden the standard setting, so I get at least 1080 over WiFi and at least 480 over mobile data.
Best suggestion I can offer, I'm afraid. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for your reminder, I find there is a option to " use hardware acceleration" on my old pixel 2xl phone. Make it HD now. However, the option isn't even there on my Reno 5G at all. Have no idea.
i installed netflix and in the setting, it shows widevine L1 and FULL HD, i guess it's fine with netflix. on youtube i have no problem watch 1080P content. maybe it is just the prime video had something to do with the phone.
I read online, cos 7 brings some sort of GPU acceleration, not sure if that will help solve this issue.

if that is the case, i guess there is nothing i can do. Maybe one day after a update, it will be fixed. it is pain to watch 480p on a 6.6 inch screen. by the way, may i ask you battery drain during standby? like 8 hrs standby, yestday i reset my phone with off screen clock off, wifi/bluetooth/location/nfc, gamil/photo auto sync, backup on., no sim. it drained 4% in 9hrs. i think it is ok. do not know what normal drain like.

Does anyone know what the status of HDR playback on Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ is? I assume this is down to the actual apps lacking support for the phone, but I had read that HDR used to work on the 10x Zoom at some point last year.

Netflix and Disney+ work perfectly at 1080p for me. I don't have Prime, but I know some people have struggled with it - mainly 5G devices restricted to 480p.

They work well in HD for me as well. It's just that the screen is capable of HDR and whilst sometimes I find HDR can be either not very useful or a bit too much, it would be nice for it to work as the screen is capable. Having said that, I compared my playback in Netflix to that on a Oneplus 7t (which is supported for HDR in Netflix) and there was little/no obvious difference (bar the slightly cool rendition on the Oppo).
