Disclaimer: This overclocks the camera sensor to safe limits. This should be safe as long as the camera is not running for an extended period of time (more than a few hours).
Features:
4K (3840x2160) up to ~50 FPS
1800p (3264x1836) and 1440p (2560x1440) recording up to 60 FPS
1080p up to 120+ FPS
Enhanced zoom in 1080p60 mode
720p up to 220 FPS (Advertised as 240FPS in camera apps)
Issues (to be fixed in next release):
PDAF is disabled in 30/60 FPS recording mode
First few seconds of 220 FPS recording have stutters/frame drops (possible HW encoder issue)
60FPS is very noisy (pixel binning is disabled and noise reduction isn't that good in 60fps)
FreedCam 50/60FPS recordings are laggy
Notes:
Only tested with GCam (Arnova Pixel2Mod V8.3, newer GCams record 60fps as 40fps), OpenCamera, FreedCam
Untested with 8.1 and below ROMs but might work as there aren't major changes from 8.1 to 9.0 camera libraries
Installation:
Move libmmcamera_imx298.so to /system/vendor/lib/
To enable 1440p in apps: Move libmmcamera2_mct.so to /system/vendor/lib/
Reboot or type this in terminal
Code:
su
stop qcamerasvr
stop vendor.camera-provider-2-4
start qcamerasvr
start vendor.camera-provider-2-4
Use FreedCam profiles below to record in FreedCam

Doesn't work in OOS Camera or in all 3rd party camera apps?
Also slow motion fix might help because in OnePlus stock HAL3 slow motion is broken for 3rd party apps.

No slow motion module installed. Stock OOS 9.0.5
OOS camera wouldn't open (some toast message regarding camera services IIRC). Gcam black screen. Freedcam wouldn't get past that black screen that enumerates câmera capabilities (on first start up)
Just for curiosity, what setup are you running?

No,but it seems like nothing happened

No news?

I've managed to edit the slow motion fix magisk module with these libs.
There are 2 versions. quickly assembled by me, altough credits are due to the original modders
Slomo mod + these libs:
-Working with open camera: 240 fps slow motion full FOV, 120 fps 1080p.
Expect the bugs described in front page.
moded libs only:
-4k 40 fps in gcam works.
-Slow motion in 3rd pary apps broken. Stock camera slowmo is 120 fps but has aditional field of view.
-Expect the bugs described in front page.
Tested and partially working in stock 9.0.6 OOS OP3T
Run these if you're facing issues/crashings when trying to use HFR modes
su
stop qcamerasvr
stop vendor.camera-provider-2-4
start qcamerasvr
start vendor.camera-provider-2-4
@3liteking148 Are you still interested in further development of this mod?

Does it affect stock camera? (in terms of quality, stability and bugs, not features) or it just unlock other possible recording options?

It will only work on RR ROMs, or the patch will be universal?

Off topic. I keep seeing the words 'battery backup' being used quite often here. I'm guessing it means battery life right?
CAMERA FLASH\RANDOM REBOOTS FIX:
-INSTALL NITROGEN OS
-DOWNLOAD SNAP CAMERA HDR
-ENABLE IN SETTINGS FORCE HAL1
-REBOOT APP
-ENJOY YOUR FULLY FUNCTONIG CAMERA
FOR VIDEO:
-DOWNLOAD FOOTEJ CAMERA
-MAKE VIDEO
-- don't make videos with snapcamera because won't work.
Its important for you (until you answer to me: camera is working dude, even with api2.0 blablalba) that api2.0 are INSTABLE. They work for limited times, and 80% of times you get no flash, no manual ISO, reboots etc. Camera HAL1 will make your camera STABLE again, with flash synced in EVERY photos you makes. Only Videos won't work with HAL1 in Snap Camera HDR.
Also in snap camera you will find some interesting goodies for our crappy cameraphone. Its important that you will enable:
-ZERO STUTTER LAG (your device will capture the image at over9000 speedo)
-LENS SHADING (it gives better image quality in borders)
-MEMORY COLOR ENCHANE (better colors)
-DENOISE (remove the exagerate noise of our thin sensor)
-Sharpness -2 (remove the exagerate noise of our thin sensor)
So yes.. try it, for me its working for 2 weeks now.

[MOD] 60 FPS 1080P Camera RN3P SD (MIUI 8, 6.0.1, Root)

Recently I have discovered you CAN record 1080p video at 60fps with stock MIUI8 just needs a few simple mods and specific camera apps.
This mod is only for and tested on the Redmi Note 3 Pro Snapdragon variant (kenzo).
For this mod to work you will need a few things to get started.
--- Select a Camera App ---
1. MotoCamera (MotoCamera_V6.0.62.1_ModV4.apk)
2. In MotoCamera set the mode to 1080 60 FPS in the settings pane (swipe from the edge to access options).
-OR-
1. FreeDCam -
2. you must edit the 1080p video profile in it's settings under 'video profile editor', set/change video frame rate to 60 fps and 'record mode' -> Normal then save, back in settings make sure Camera2 API is selected.
(3.3.147 is the current stable, but has a bug switching from 'pic' to 'video' and back where camera will appear to freeze, that bug is fixed in version 4 alpha but it has another have an issue saving some settings, I suggest starting with 3.3.147 to test it out.)
----
--System Changes---
3. you need to put the modified 'media_profiles_8956.xml' (found attached to this post) to enable 60fps on the device, use a file-manager like MiXplorer or similar to replace the file it can be found in /etc/ (make backups first), you can also just rename the old file to something like '/etc/media_profiles_8956.xml-'.
OR
I have also created a Magisk script for systemless modification., if you don't want to change / modify system files and happen to have Magisk installed just install the zip file in Magisk Manger - easy.
if you are going the non Magisk route then I suggest you backup your original media_profiles_8956.xml or just rename it to something else just incase you dislike the mod and want to return to stock.
4. reboot, and try it out, [email protected], you do need to be in nicely lit area otherwise fps will drop in low light -
.
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 59fps 16931kbps [V: VideoHandle [eng] (h264 baseline L4.2, yuv420p, 1920x1080, 16931 kb/s)]
-
Pros:
60 FPS 1080p
very smooth such a noticeable difference
media_profiles_8956.xml mod ups the stock bitrate for audio to 320k , and raises video bitrate for better looking videos.
Cons:
Breaks stock camera video recording (camera app crashes)
still has the FPS lag in low light
60 FPS only works in specific camera apps, if you find others please let me know!
I have tested this on MIUI 8 Global beta 7.6.15, I am not sure the results of other OSes or MIUI versions, so as with any mod try it at own risk and make sure you have a working twrp or recovery.
good luck.
BTW there is also a 960P mod for 90fps, but it cannot coexist with the 1080p 60FPS mod .

I tried
Open Camera,
Snap Camera HDR (all CameraAPI levels),
Lumio Camera (btw this is another awasome camera, if you want a steady 30fps video with no FPS drops even in low light, just no 60 FPS though ),
Camera MX
but they all record at 30 fps
So far the only ones known to work at 60 FPS are
Moto Camera
FreeDCam
cyngn.cameranext (not tested)
CameraNX (only for android 7.x)
Have you figured out any way to make the camera record stable 30FPS even in low light without any third party camera app? Thanks man, I'll be using Lumio Cam for now. Haha.
Edit: It actually works! Seriously, how can this camera do this kind of stuff?! It actually performs better, but kinda hated the UI lol, at least the video camera can be usable now.
Will it work on Los based ROMs?

Afaik there is no way to make stock camera app record steady 30 fps, I edited kenzo.xml inside of miuisystem.apk and I can enable a few extra options for the stock camera like video image stabilization, 4k video ..etc but still suffers the fps lag in dark, I also dislike the zero shutter lag feature of the stock camera since images come out looking like watercolor (when zoomed in), where if you compare a image that was taken with another camera like SnapCam or Lumio the water color effect will be gone and have more detail for far away objects (but at the cost of shutter delay) ,
btw I can make a magisk script for a miuisystem.apk with the stock camera mods enabled, but you might have to be on the same version of miui 8 (7.6.15) since I am not sure how often that file changes and if it can work across different miui8 versions

What I mean is, are there any solutions like binary patches or any system stuff that doesn't fiddle with the camera app? Or have you found any other camera app that can do stable 30fps in low light?
Sadly, I'm already using NOS so I can't test stuff, but that's a good idea. I don't think MIUI doesn't change it's files that much. Good work man! :highfive:

Just Lumio that I found so far (that can do 30 fps without mods in low light), besides it costing money its pretty nice .
I have heard if you first set a manual shutter speed to a fixed 1/30 in snap camera hdr it might also work in that app, although I have not tried it, I might mess around with it later after it finishes charging

Yeah shame this feature is limited to one app tho, luckily Lumio is a nice all around app with lots of settings, it's a pretty new app so maybe more features will become available with future updates, I think lumio manually controls the shutter speed so it never drops under 30 perhaps that's how they defeat the fps drop, I tried contacting the developers but never heard back sadly.
but still since now we know what this camera can do, it sucks that it's being held back from its full potential by xiaomi, it should work like this out of the box, variable framerate was a bad idea.

[PORT] OP5 camera ported to work with OP3T on Oxygen OS

First of all, I didn't make this port just found it here, so I just wanted to share it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73295122&postcount=10
Things are I confirm that are working:
-Shot on OnePlus watermark
-OIS in 720p, 1080p (not with EIS tough)
-Manual mode with the histogram (Max ISO 800 only)
-4k recording in front facing camera (MX Player, and gallery shows it's 4k, but I can't test it if looks any better than 1080p)
-Panorama, Timelapse(?)
Things that are not working:
-HQ looks the same as normal mode (Still max ISO is 800)
-No 1080p60 option
-No HDR option
-Slow motion records only in 30fps
Install it as a normal apk. Tested on Oxygen OS Ob11

Because it has a feature that I and some people really needed: OIS for 1080p,720p, not only for 4k and 1080p60, and it won't replace your stock camera app, so you can use the stock camera app if you want something else.

When installing this "port", it basically kills postprocessing on the stock camera app until you deinstall it and reboot your device.
See for yourself. Not only does it not improve the camera quality, it also deteriorates the stock camera quality.

How can I get slow motion video on custom rom?

I have installed android 8.1 pixel experience rom on my redmi note 4, and I can't get slow motion recording to work, gcam always crashes, I tried open camera and set fps to 120 but it doesn't seem to work, it just records normal, I tried snap camera HDR and doesn't work, I've seen something about installing a magisk module fore the OP3 that enables HEVC ,and apparently works on some Xiaomi devices, I tried it and at first it seemed to work, slow motion didn't crash gcam and the viewfinder showed an image quality similar to that of MIUI stock camera in slowmo mode, but when I record the video it works for 1 second and freezes, then every time I try to open the camera the image is frozen until I reboot the phone

Install on Pixel Expirience or Mokee, this is port for aosp roms
I have been testing it (with default settings, HAL3 enabled and gcam front camera fix) and I found some bugs.
Sometimes, the shutter does not respond correctly and when I move the camera I can appreciate some lens distortion. I also noticed that the pictures taken with the rear camera are saved with a lot of background noise. It is normal?
If I disable HAL3 (into /vendor/build.prop), replace libmmcamera_platina_imx576_sunny.so (into /vendor/ lib/ ) and restart the device to be able to use the front camera, it takes photos but camera interface freezes instantly.
I am using Pixel Experience Pie (aosp version 2019 05 08) with Acrux Kernel 1.0.1 Stable

Put beauty mode to 0 and then you can shoot with front camera without freezing, noise is there, but pictures have much more details in comparation with stock mi 8 lite camera. I will post new version with night mode and longer default shutter speed soon, also i find how to fix beauty mode. Lens disortion is associated with cameraservice lib, stock lib from mi8 lite make lens totally distorted and wrongly oriented. I will try to fix disortion if i can. Miui camera from Pixel expirience don't use second lens for depth ??
Can i install this on RR Rom?

keep a good work devs

Try to flash module with magisk, if camera app don't get installed you need to delete other camera apps manually via root file manager and flash again. With some roms camera won't get installed and after flashing you need to extract module and copy from priv-app miuicamera folder together with other libs in miuicamera priv-app in your phone
Good work, working on pe caf ?
Edit
After replace lib, 3rd party app like WA, IG cant access front cam ?

Use lib form my post, disable camera2api, and add this line to vendor/build.prop persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=0 Every app should work then with Pe, there is no benefit from Gcam if you broke everything with camera2 api enabled. Miui camera taking great photos now and portrait work perfect

So i need to edit build.prop
persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=0 to disable cam2api?
Prefer front cam from miui 24mp, and back cam from gcam, but i will try..
Exactly, copy lib in vendor and turn off HAL3 to 0, and everything will work perfect, but Gcam will be broken.
It works on BootleggersROM, thank you very much.

Yes, HHT mode can be fixed, accidentally i broke something and now seems like don't work, also different scenes can be added, problem is with Platina xml in device feature folder, some lines are wrong ??
Why does the interface look like this? Did I do something wrong? Please help me [emoji24]

It's something about nav bar and gestures. With nav bar active there's no problem View attachment 4782697
