[Solved]Less memory after flashing custom rom - Xiaomi Redmi 6A Questions & Answers

Today I flashed AospExtended 5.8. Before that I wiped everything, what was necessary. Now my phone reports it has just 4GB total internal storage and about 2,83 actually available via PC. Any suggestions?
Solution: Flashing stock rom, reflashing twrp (don't let the OS boot up!), make_ext4fs on /data and mounting it.

can please share, step by step to restore back to stock rom. i am on phhusson 8.1 oreo

But last time i was flashed Cm13 based rom, rom wont boot 'encryption unsuccessful' error came, after that i lost all of storage to remove encryption..
Now with zcx twrp can i flash Nought based roms without encryption error..?
Your data will be wipe if you flash Nougat based right now, nothing can save it, better back up it to a microSD card and copy it back later.
pls suggest me to installing this rom

TWRP on samsung galaxy s7

Hi I have a brand new samsung galaxy s7 SM-G930F on which I want to install twrp and lineage os.
However when I flash twrp using odin and booting into it there is a problem - I cant mount nor access or wipe / change any parttion so I cant install custom rom. it says data parttion is 0 mb. I had to revert to stock but I still wish to install lineage os.
What am I doing wrong? Is twrp coruppted?
thanks
On my device I have the same problem. The only part it on I can mount is system
soultion
I think I found a soultion!
data parttion is corrupted somehow so you have to format it to FAT using twrp then formatting it back to EXT4 using twrp again, then you should wipe all parttions and install rom from USB OTG.
Tell me if that works for you

[Semi-fixed] Internal storage accidentally deleted after trying to restore backup rom

Hi,
My current problems are: my internal storage is completely deleted somehow and when I try to start the device it's bootlooping.
What happened before that was:
1. I was in MIUI 10 globe rom and had the regular TWRP (before treble thing I think)
2. I installed orangefox recovery so I could install a treble RR rom.
3. I backed up my MIUI rom and installed the RR rom without problems
4. Then I wanted to go back to MIUI rom
5. First I installed normal TWRP img into my recovery, because I couldn't recover the MIUI rom in orangefox (couldn't find the file)
6. Then I tried to recover the MIUI rom, but I didn't factory reset before i recovered. I thought that would happen anyway if i recovered a rom. But my recovery file didn't include bootloader and firmware. I had 2 recovery files in my internal storage. One of everything except the bootloader and firmware and the other recovery file was of the bootloader and firmware (i forgot to include them the first time i backed up)
7. So anyway, I recovered the first file and everytrhing was fine, but then immediately i also recovered the second file (the bootloader and firmware only). But the second file failed to recover.
8. I tried to boot the device, but it bootlooped at the MI globe image, then went back to MI logo, then mi globe image, etc. And finally it goes back to TWRP automatically.
9. Went back to recovery to see what's wrong. First I did a normal factory reset (only system, cache and dalvik, no internal storage) so I could install the RR rom I still had in my storage
10. Suddenly I see NOTHING in my internal storage in TWRP. Shows 0 gb.
So can anyone tell me what went wrong??? I never touched the 'format internal storage/data' thing in TWRP, but somehow it deleted it??? Wth happened?
And more importantly, what do I do now? Do I treat this as a bootloop or a bricked device? I know I have to use ADB and stuff to reset the device, right? Or Do I have to do something else?
Anyway, thanks in advance!
Edit: wait, i formatted /data now in TWRP and it booted into MIUI 10 after but with internal storage gone now of course. But I'd still like to know what went wrong.

Cannot Flash Rom / Restore - Error 7, Error 1001, Cannot mount System

Hey everybody,
I was on LOS 15.1 for a rather long time and I wanted to try RR, so as usual I backed up my system and tried to flash the RR-rom.
It did not work at all and I got several errors among which error 7 and the unability to mount system partition were the most prominent.
The device got bricked several times but I got it back to life with MiFlashTool, running either MIUI 8.5 or MIUI 9.
The strange thing is that even after flashing the MIUI-img - and basically bringing the device back to its factory firmware - I could not flash a rom.
I tried several recoverys; the latest TWRP, the TWRP linked in the LOS15.1 thread and OrangeFoxRecovery. None of them would work. I wiped all partition, nothing worked. I got different errors shown, most of them were error 7 or not being ablke to mount system, as stated before.
Right now I am back to MIUI and rooted it, which worked from OrangeFox, but I actually would like tzo run a custom rom again.
Any idea what I could do?
Cheers!
Noone who has an idea why it would not work?
I thought that after flashing via Flashtool the phone would be as good as new and all prioir changes would be gone? Wha can I not flash anything via recovery and get erros?
Or are there different versions of Orange Fox Recovery? RR would be treble, so I would need a treble recovery.
Cheers!
Have you tried to format internal storage?
If not backup data in sdcard or pc and format it using recovery.
Are you using trble supported recoveries?
Did you encrypted your data while using Lineage OS?
Hey,
well, yes, I encrypted data but since reinstalling MIUI via Flashtool this is gone. And I thought that this should be enough and reflashing it via MiFlash is like a factory reset? Is there anything I did not consider?
After Flashtool did not do the trick, wiped everything but External memory in TWRP, no kelp either.
I also did the normal wipe (where you dont have to choose which partition), this did not help.
As I said, I am currently on the latest OrangeFox Recovery but I also tried the latest TWRP and the TWRP in the LOS 15.1-Thread, which did not help.
To my knowledge all of the are treble recoverys?
I also tried to restore a vackup of LOS which did not work...
I flashed

When you reply quote, I didn't get notifications for your reply.
Your bootloader is unlocked and you installed Twrp recovery.
Try copying Rom zip to SD card and wipe system, data, cache, dalviks cache, internal storage (exclude sd card off course). Then install it.
It should work
As I said, I did all of this, yet it does not work.
After wiping I tried to flash RR rom...
I get "Patching system image unconditionally...
Then I get E1001: Failed to update system image. (in white)
Updater process ended with: ERROR 7 (in red)
Error installing zip file 'patch...' (in red)
Updating partition details (in white)
Failed to mount '/system' (Invalid Argument) (in red).
As I said, that happens with different recoverys and different roms (treble and non treble)

Are you sure the Rom you installating is for your device because error 7 occured if the rom you are trying install is not for your device.
Yes, of course, it was the correct ROM. Before error 7 I got error 1001 and I guess this was the initial problem.
My guess it that the problem was the decrypted partition which I did not format in twrp in my first go. Every wipe and format afterwards somehow did not help...
Now after having flashed recovery and different roms 10 times and using miflash 10 times it worked and now I am on RR. Don't ask me what eventually did the trick.

Great to know
I hated MIUI because of the bloatware and ads. Have fun using RR. If you want you can use Liquid Remix Pie its a great ROM.
Yes. I also did not like MIUI that much, that's why I was using Lineage before I wanted to try RR: Thanks for the advice for anothe rom.
i fix this issue by format data, not only wipe then restart the recovery and install the ROM, then finally it works !

If I format data, then I have to reboot into the recovery menu to be able to use data again. But this is impossible, because it gets stuck into the bootloop every time I try to reboot. Any other option to fix this error?
EDIT:
I could fix it myself:
1. MIUI latest version; flash with MiFlash.
2. flash TWRP with e.g. YUware
3. flash latest fw_vendor in TWRP
4. full update pixel expierence (NOT incremental) rom flash
5. Partitions/Data/Format
6. Reboot and ready to use

Question Back to stock

OK, flashed a custom ROM but accidentally backed up the stock ROM to the internal storage (which are later formatted data) rather than my SD card. So now I have no backup.
If I wanted to go back to the Stock ROM can I flash something like the following file in recovery mode?? :
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/mojito/stable/V13.0.9.0.SKGMIXM/
yes , you can flash recovery roms with PixelExperience or LineageOS Recovery
but MIFlash is Recommended
