Volume keys arrangement - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

The arrangement of the volume keys isn't good for a tablet. Because it's a tab, people use it more often in the landscape mode then in the portrait mode. But the volume keys are arranged for the portrait mode, like on a phone. If changed to the landscape mode the key arrangement is unusual, left key launder and right key volume down. It should be the opposite way in landscape mode. Or key's arrangement should change automatically when changing the view mode.

I'm glad it worked. My previous tablet was Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and the volume buttons were positioned correctly in landscape mode (Decrease the volume to the left, increase the volume to the right).
And BTW for quick volume changes I use One Hand Operation app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.sidegesturepad&hl=en
For long swipe gesture i choose Quick tools - very handy and useful features like volume change, brightness change and several others

FastSettings (volume and backlight control for SE xperia x1 and HTC)

This is a Windows Mobile program that allows you to control volume and backlight level. The main advantage is a finger friendly interface. It works fine on SE xperia x1, also, all the features suppose to work on most of the latest HTC phones such as touch HD or Diamond. On any other device the backlight adjustment feature will not work, but the volume control should work. This is a first release, and I plan to update it step by step. Currently the application supports only VGA and WVGA resolutions. Bellow there is a list of features:

Finger friendly GUI – done
VGA and WVGA resolutions – done
Hook of the volume buttons – done
Landscape mode – done
Hook of the volume icon in taskbar – in a progress
Add autostart – in a progress
If you can please leave a feedback about bugs or how does the program work with your device or may be the feature that you want to see in this program.

i like this app, havent used it for very long but no bugs so far and everything is working fine
Thanks
Mirko
Great little app. No problems so far and automatically mapped itself to the volume keys on my HD2 which I really like. I really needed this.
Nice work Maxmkh and big thanks.
Just a quick update. I know Maxmkh has stated that an autostart would be in progess but I thought I'd try and add the exe to he start up folder. This, however, didn't work. For anyone who was gonna try it.
Nice, I'll try on my Xperia X2. If it works i'll post here.
TY.
DayLon.
it works on my mega, qvga except the backlight bar not there as it for wvga. good. been looking for it . android have seperate volume control for ring, message, media and seperate alert tone. hopefully this can go that direction
Key hooks
Hey there! nice app! I really like it, but there a little problem regarding key hooks when I use X1BC. Is it possible to release a version without the key hooks or trying to use the volume key through X1BC. thanks!

[Q] Alphanumeric-style keyboard like on the PSP?

I was wondering if there was a way to use the playstation controls as a keyboard very similar to the way it is on a PSP when typing. Where the hardware buttons help to type. For example, The shoulder buttons move the cursor left and right, X confirms the key, [] backspaces, start is enter, select changes the style of onscreen keyboard. etc. etc.
I do not have an Xperia play yet, still have my htc fuze, but it would be nice if it had this feature because im very proficient with typing on my PSP. Thanks.
No...but it can be used to scroll through the home screens and the app drawer.

umm, i guess that's cool. As long as the buttons are usable for other things than games. I was kinda hoping other people had the same idea as me, and used those buttons for more. i was either hoping to find the PSP style on-screen keyboard, or the makeshift keyboard from gt4, which uses the analog to select a block on a 3x3 grid and the face buttons to select a letter. It's called the Danzel keyboard.
Sigh, i wish the PSP homebrew community was on the Xperia play. I guess it's time to learn to program.
How about the below idea

Tried to describe it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187053
Maybe also making square PS key to backspace, triangle to shift (single press upper case next key, double press Caps Lock), X and Start buttons Enter, O and Select buttons spacebar. Unless Select button could be used to switch qwerty... row to numbers 1234... etc. Turning the touchpad into 2-mode keyboard, so main mode lettering could be printed in black on the touchscreen as above and secondary (numbers, symbols, etc) in grey next to them in grey and/or smaller size...
Menu button below PS directional ones to popup the built-in onscreen keyboard for numbers/symbols, etc input?

Opaque on screen buttons.

So with the drawer locked (little button) it's not see through but with it unlocked but on screen you can see through. Why can't I see through on locked mode like on Google phone.

EDIT: SORRY, re-reading for like the sixth time I see I did misunderstand your question. You are only asking about ONE on screen button that is opaque vs translucent -- and the conditions WHY -- not about the entire navigation bar (which LG calls Home Touch buttons) being translucent or even visible. Anyway, hope my answer below this helps someone else!
To answer YOUR question... maybe LG feels that one button being opaque is an easy visual indicator it is locked. Then, unlocked it's translucent. Whereas Google doesn't have such styling concerns.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, and I admit I may not...
It had to do with whether you are in full screen mode or not. Sometimes called immersive mode. When NOT in that mode, you will always have the navigation buttons at the bottom. LG calls them "Home Touch buttons".
When in that mode, navigation buttons are translucent or even missing (invisible). When missing you can swipe up from the bottom to make them appear. They will then appear and be translucent. You might want immersive mode for videos or such.
There's a Settings menu to decide which apps you always want to be in immersive mode. Or you can manually do it by clicking on that very left small arrow button on the by navigation bar (unless you've rearranged the icons). I think you referred to it as "locking the drawer" which confused me.
I really only want video to be immersive. With this V30 tall screen, I don't mind visible navigation buttons at the bottom.
I found this issue because my corporte email app, called Nine, didn't have arrows at the bottom for me to go back easily. I could swipe up and force the navigation bar to appear, but other apps were not that way. Sort of irritating. So,I found the Settings menu with all my apps listed, where Nine had this "feature" enabled. I disabled it for that app.
This may not be exactly what you're asking about, and if so then I apologize.

I don't think there is a way and personally I haven't found anything. This appears to be something Google did with Android Pi, it shows up in Nova Launcher also. From what I can tell by reading and useage (during the beta) the button appears when orientation lock is activated, when it is set to auto-rotate the button doesn't show up at all. I don't see any app or setting that controls it, so it maybe something that requires some form of app or other modification to get rid of.
I have only seen it appear when rotation lock is active and the phone has detected itself as being held opposite of what the rotation lock is set at. For example if the screen is locked at portrait orientation then the button only appears when it is held in landscape orientation.

How do you take a screenshot?

I've tried power button and either of the vol keys and nothing.
ok, figured it out - just use the Screen Write function using the s-pen

Or use sidebutton and volume down simultaneously. Or use the side of your hand and wipe from left to right.

The Bixby button. On top off of the volume keys.
For me the gesture works. Just hold your hand if you would shake somebody's hand. And then swipe across the screen from left to right. Works for me everytime.

Press the power button and the volume down button together for about 1 second and then release the buttons EVEN IF YOU DO NOT SEE the white flash confirming the screenshot. Only AFTER you release the buttons do you see the white flash. This works differently from previous versions of Galaxy Tabs, and it can be quite deceptive.
Of course, you can also use the S-Pen and the palm swipe action to take screenshots as mentioned in the other posts.
Same way on the Note 10+. It's hard to get used to, as holding down the volume down button and power button now brings up the power menu. I have to retrain my brain to just press them both down at the same time and release.
Its a quick press of volume down and power at same time. No need to hold them down for a 1 sec or anything..just push let go[emoji16]
