iPhone 11 Pro Vs Redmi K20 Pro - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Guides, News, & D

Can't go wrong for K20 Pro price. Can't believe iPhone still has 4gb ram. MOD EDIT: YT link removed

Comparing Android specs to an iPhone is like comparing apples to oranges.
IOS uses less ram than Android and Android is typically more bloated. However the apps are designed quite different, typically Android apps offer better performance and integration.

Stop being so childish and quit trying to compare the phones.
The iPhone's camera is in a completely different league, build quality and materials are much better, security is so much better etc. Every phone is fast today and performance doesn't matter as much as it did 3 or 4 years ago. The iphone is aimed at a completely different market where people have money and don't complain spending so much.
I have the mi 9t pro and it's an amazing device for the money, but the iphone is overall a better and more polished phone.

No iPhone discussion in Android forum please.

Iphon ed vs android

I wish I had an iphone. All I have is a galaxy s6 and the LG g5 doesnt look too good. If it was a iPhone e it would be Considered great. Who how is better android of apple and shy?
It's subjective, they both have pros and cons.
I prefer Android as it offers more freedom and customization. IPhone lacks any kind of customization and with the very limited color selection, you end up with the exact same phone and layout as half the planet. The lack of homescreen widgets is also a negative.
The only real benefits to an IPhone, for me, are that Apple doesn't cater to carriers and let them bloat the phone with their bloatware/custom UI's, which leads to the second benefit of immediate updates. I also like that they support all bands, so you don't need to buy a new device when jumping carriers.
There is no best with phones. There is only better for you. Some users (like myself) prefer android. It allows me to customize and do things I cannot on the iPhone. Some users love the UI of iOS and love how simple it is and hate android because of how complex it can be. I find the best way to make a ex iPhone user happy with android is to go Nexus. It is similar in simplicity and provides a familiar ease. My wife just did that and she hated android before but not loves it with her Nexus 5X.
Really it depends on the person. These debates can be irrelevant and get heated for no reason because people will argue points that are better for them and not the other person in the debate. I find as time passes the gap between iOS and android is closing in. The non-stock android devices are becoming closer to stock and slimming down their skins and it is helping iOS users to come over. I have owned a lot of iOS and Android devices (see my signature) but eventually I find the iPhone to be boring and want more features. But once again the features that I use and the features that you use will differ so there is no reason for me to state android is better.
I do think that Apple really needs to shake up the market. They have been dry the last couple of years and allowed android to take off with the market. They could easily lock up the market permanently if they just add some of the features android users love (quick charge, front facing speakers, slimmer bezels, larger batteries, wireless charging and the list goes on)
This is my unbiased opinion, hope it helps
If you wish you had an iPhone, get an iPhone.

Everyone that I know says that their iphone is better. The iphone does look nice and it is faster and doesn't lag or get stuck like android phones do. It also has better features and I would buy one but i can't afford the iphone.

It doesn't matter what "everyone" says... I know a lot of people who would disagree with your "everyone". By the statement you made and my comment above , clearly if they own an iPhone then they prefer iOS to android and it is better for them. But it does not mean it is better for everyone. My 6P and my wife's 5X do not have any lag. In fact I had more lag on my iPhone 6 than I have on these devices. So you may buy an iPhone and still get frustrated with issues. My wife's iPhone had issue after issues which led her to get an android after everything lagged and would crash.
Well either save up and buy one or sell your phone and buy an older iPhone. I do not get the point of this thread if you asked for which is better but then you stated you have already made up your mind. This thread is irrelevant now unless your plan was to public state how you think iOS is better. I have owned many iPhones in my life and I have never had a better phone than my 6P. It is crazy fast and handles any task I toss at it. Future android phones will be similar.
EDIT: oh @Dgball40 I will admit that the S6 is a laggy mess with horrible battery life so if you are judging your android experience on that phone try a real phone.

Why is the Redmi 5 getting so little attention?

hey everyone so i'm clearly enjoying me Redmi 5 but when compared to the other redmi phones or even xiaomi phones overall, it's getting very little attention, like only a few roms and all are nougat roms while others like even the redmi 4 already got an android P rom even though our device is newer and actually better in overall performance, so i think we really should make the forum more lively if we want more interest and roms to come this way
What ideas could you guys have to make our phone a bit more popular? comment below please
Hi, glad you happy to use it. The phone did not get enough attention because it has very little amount of developer for the phone. Cheap ***** don't really turn heads, so does the phone at the eyes of the devs.
Just hold on, we will get oreo sooner or later. If not, try to be rich and buy a better phone.

well, this is a good answer but still i think it should get more attention cause according to gsmarena it has 5,873,306 hits and it sold very well, i mean a 3gb ram device with such good price with 18x9 display, that's not something you see everyday, but i think it just needs some more activity in this forum like people making more threads, replying so that way the devs could get interested and we could get custom roms faster, just my opinion though, thanks for the answer anyway

I think a lot of people who interested in purchasing this phone end up buying the redmi 5 plus model as the price increase is quite low by comparison based on my country market. Anyways, I do agree with having a 3gb ram and a 18x9 display with the range of price given by the market is quite good. TLDR, I think the Redmi 5 Plus does overshadow the redmi 5 model, thus causing low number of custom roms development.
Slightly offtopic. In my country there is a bigger price difference between the Redmi 5 and 5 plus in most mainstream online stores, and I've been able to get my mother a Redmi 5 2/16 gb for literally 107 dollars converted and adjusted for vat! Dirt cheap. In comparison my oneplus 3 costed 500 dollars 2 years ago.
I am able to run Blokada no-root adblocker on the Redmi 5 if I turn off battery optimizations and turn on "keep alive". That's all we need from a cheaper phone isn't it? MIUI gets kinda regular updates and recent security patches, and is an overall solid and lightweight ROM. Not a lot of bloat unlike other cheaper phones.
I'm not even expecting much custom rom's when Xiaomi provides such good support for their phones
The new Rom packaging has screwed a lot of developers. The Market range is far to High to obtain any User investigating for Development.
This device has a neat Stock Experience. The optimisations decreased highly with any Update of the Android version. The Graveyard of Technology is high, with all the cluttering, Invention of Removal of Bloatware, Security Improvements and alternatives of existing Modifications, Hardware that went in and out it was like launching a Rocket. Much will be missed..
In common, Developers go there where is the most of Sources provided. Mainly Google. Hardware manufacturers who change poorly their Hardware providers are favourites, like Samsung.
The Application security is Poor. So, here in the End developers meet Apple as their Dead End.

My first Android phone : Mi 9T or Nova 5T ?

Hi
I want to migrate from iPhone 7 to a mid-range Android device. I investigate a lot and liked these two phones. ( Huawei Nova 5T and Xiaomi Mi 9T )
They have their pros and cons and I really can’t decide which one to buy.
1. I use my phone to check Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, watch movies and sometimes taking pictures.
2. I usually use my phones at least 3 years.
3. I really care about software update and ROM. I really like MIUI it’s so beautiful. EMUI looks old.
4. I don’t care about screen technology.
AMOLED fans say IPS is old. IPS is color accurate with really good white color. It has less cons than AMOLED and better for long term usage.
AMOLED is really good specially when using dark mode but burn-in can happen and also I saw many people complaining about jitter and ghost touch problem which some YouTubers think is normal on AMOLED. Many people are complaining about Xiaomi AMOLED display ghost touch and jitter problem on 9T. So I think it’s wiser to use IPS + guarantee service is not good in my country so if it gets burn-in or ghost touch problem they will not replace the phone.
5. Battery is really important to me.
Nova 5T has a 3750mAh and Mi 9T has a 4000mAh battery but it looks Mi 9T is a lot better than 5T. Reviewers say MIUI is very battery friendly. Video loop test was 15h for 5T and 27h for 9T.
- I saw many Mi 9T users complaining about their battery after updating from Android 9 to 10 and MIUI 11.
6. Mi 9T is using Gorilla Glass 5 which is really resistant to scratches. I can’t even find a video of Nova 5T scratch test. But people are saying it uses a Chinese glass company which is similar to Gorilla Glass 3 which is not strong as 5.
7. Nova 5T beats Mi 9T easily in the performance and the difference in benchmark is huge !!! But I’m not going to play with my phone a lot maybe 30-40 hours/year Call of Duty or PUBG.
So ... Which phone should I get? I really love to read both phone’s users opinion.
Thanks

Hi,
First of all, congratulations on joining the right side of the force.
Second of all, there is a place to post "which should I buy" posts : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
Now, regarding the phones, you have to know something, I really hate Huawei device, not especially because of trust issues and scandals they had in the past, but because they removed, and don't want the user to unlock their bootloader, which would allow the user to take full possession of the device, and customize/ replace the system.
It's like jailbreak, but it's legal and even encouraged by some brands, it can extend the life expectancy of the device, because it allows you to install the lastest version of Android, if one person who own this phone decides to "port" the lastest Android version to your device.
Talking of updates, they last more or less 2/3 year depending on the manufacturer, so it isn't too hard to make a phone last that long.
Now for the objective choice I'll still recommend the Xiaomi, because battery life is a big factor if you want the phone to last 3 year. The battery wears out through the years, and since you're not a huge gamer, you better prefer the longer battery life.
You'll learn soon enough that this place has many device forums in which people with the same device talk, ask and post their own customization.
For now since you're really new to Android, getting used to Android is what you should do first, and if your a little curious, you'll have really good fun customizing Android and learning. The possibilities are almost infinite.
Have a good day

Mi note 10 lite community expansion

Hello friends,
I've been getting more and more afraid of the lack of development and expansion of our device's community, and I've been suspecting that the sales for this device aren't what xiaomi targeted.
There hasn't been much time since the release, but xiaomi keeps on pumping new phones by the minute, burying this phone into the enthusiast segment.
As an example of stagnation from xiaomi is the miui 12 update, and the android 11 which was in the internal testing stage since september.
Is this something normal or temporary, as people don't want to void their warranty, should I and you be worried? How are the device sales in your country?
Sadly people go for the cheaper Redmi lineup here which are god awful screen and quality wise even though there are a lot of nice used flagships floating in markets. I guess the borderline scammy marketing works for them...
Personally I'm not a huge fan of this phone after buying it but would love to see the community activity spiking, even wrote a thread about testing GSI's and listing them together for ease of search.
If we speak about camera (main one, other 3 suck) then with GCam it is WONDERFUL!! It is better than my old OnePlus 3 was with ported GCam 7. Oh yeah don't get fooled, it is a 16MP sensor not 64.

I don't like stock camera at all, pictures seem like HDR oversharpened even when HDR is not on. Can you please send me links of GCam and xml setting that you use?

Question Time to stop using Pixel phones? Terrible experience through 1 year of ownership

I've got a Pixel 6 pre-ordered, using it as my main phone since launch. My experience with random bugs, but especially frustrating Bluetooth devices randomly disappearing or being forgotten, random Bluetooth disconnections and so on have frustrated me beyond belief!
I stopped using Samsung phones back in the Note 2 era as Samsung when on a tangent and lost their marbles, and before my Pixel 6 I was using a Xiaomi Mi 11, which was an excellent hardware, but I could not get on with their buggy mess and poorly implemented dark mode forcing apps and making buttons disappear as consequence. Never again...
Now the Pixel 6 is making me feel the same way, a frustrating half-baked phone which was meant to be exactly the opposite, it should be the flagship Google phone with the latest and most polished software, not this mess.
So I'm considering perhaps moving to a Samsung flagship, but I've no idea if their software will be any better. I'm definitely not going for the Chinese brands anymore, Oneplus lost its way, Xiaomi is a proper mess, Realme and others also not worth considering. Ah, I evne forgot to mention I had an Asus ROG phone once, excellent phone but very slow update cycles, another disappointment.
So what is left for me to try? A Samsung flagship that promises 4 years of updates? The reality is that I'll keep the phone for 2 or 3 years max anyway, but nice that samsnung is finally focusing on providing updates more quickly. Or, go back to an iPhone and forget all this mess, but I'm way more keen on keeping an Android phone due to its flexibility.
Any thoughts guys?
i know how ya feel mephisto.. it was either a samsung A53 or pixel 6a for my budget and the 6a came in £100 cheaper ( argos offer ) so far i have 2 issues . first of all the battery life reminds me of my old galaxy s5 .. lucky to last a full day and I'm not a heavy user either . I've read it settles down after a while once it gets to know your usage patterns , then again I've never really seen that happen in previous phones . And secondly the camera .. yes its good but the jpg compression is way too heavy . I've installed and tuned up bigkakas 8.4 gcam mod and it's pulling out a lot more fine detail than stock . they should give users more options as far as the camera goes.
anyway it still blows the redmi note 11 out of the water so i suppose i shouldn't complain .. but i do
I wonder if I'm alone feeling this disappointed and if there are any good alternatives
It is a result of market expectations (imho). The number of people interested in customizing and tweaking their device is too small to get the attention of the manufacturers. They will target their preferred (ie easiest) audience, and whoever isn't in that audience will have to deal with the results.
i am hugely disappointed in my s6. battery life is poor at best uses 1.5% an hour if i don't touch the device. ( my other 3 phones only use 0.3% an hour, same sim , same service, same place). battery use while on at 5-6% is pretty good.there have been bugs since day one. the camera was advertised as 50mp but software makes it 12mp, that was annoying. and developer support on xda is just ok.
i should have bought the last pixel5
