Touch not working on Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G9250 (Custom Rom) - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the China variant of S6 Edge. Which probably has the exact same specs as the other variants. I found an interesting custom rom that was originally for Note 8, ported for all the variants of S6 Edge EXCEPT MINE, THE CHINA ONE :'( So I was able to install the port successfully. The phone also boots properly. But once the lock/home screen appears, I can't do anything because the touch doesn't work. My question is, Is there any tweak I can do to the rom.zip file so that I can make the touch work on my device? Like take some attributes from the stock rom and modify it on the custom one?

That's pretty obvious. This is NOT what I'm looking for. I'm asking what change do I have to make to the custom rom so that I can make it compatible with my device. Because it's like the rom is tested for G925F/I/AND_ALMOST_ALL_THE_REST. The official thread doesn't say its tested on G9250 (CHN, TGY, BRI variants). So it's obvious it should not work. But the specs of those variants are very close. So I believe it can be easily ported for my device. Can anyone help me with this?

[Q] Ulefone U7 - enable softkeys or custom rom

Received my Ulefone U7 yesterday and so far impressed.
Intention is to use in my car to replace the OEM satnav.
To do this, I need to enable the softkeys/navigation bar as the physical buttons will be behind the dash.
I've rooted OK and have so far tried what I thought would work..
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in build.prop
Xposed and as many modules as I can find!
Play store apps like softkeys enabler
So far, no soft keys
To enable softkeys on my Samsung Note 10.1 2014 I had to install a custom ROM
Any advice welcome.
Do I need a custom ROM?
Thee Ulefone U7 is the same as other MTK6592 phones I believe, can I use one of those ROMs?

Hey bro i want to ask you if you have problems with the camera ? it keep flickering purple ?! for me
I have a Tronsmart PS7 incoming which is the same device as far as I can tell with different branding, I'll see what I can work out for you, I'll be working on a clockwork build for it eventually.
Have you considered rooting it and installing https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.udn
there is another program https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey
Button Savior I do not particularly like, because personally I think its ugly, but it is functional as far as I can tell when I have used it on a device with broken buttons, it is not strictly speaking a navbar, but it has home and back etc on it, so it may work without needing the rom to be navbar aware.
There is also a mod for xposed that allows you to complete navbar functions using swipes for example swipe left to right = home, swipe right to left = back, see more here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gesture-navigation-multitouch-t2690180
There is a factory image here http://www.needrom.com/mobile/ulefone-u69u7/ it may be possible to edit that image to include the navbar
DO NOT FLASH IMAGES FOR OTHER PHONES
Yes the SoC is the same, but the button config, screen, camera, usb/otg functions hdmi output are likely to be different and so the driver sets will most likely not match and leave you with either a device with broken features or a device that will not even boot, so be VERY careful with that.

You device ps7, maybe OEM model, then check your phone's information firstly . setting->about devices->(1.Kernel version:? 2.Build number: ? ) ,or press volum- and power button together to get factory version details. After the information be confirmed, you can download ulefone u7 firmware at ule-fone dot com

could we get a link to the KitKat ROM, I can't find it online
hi david,
you can download the ulefone u7 firmare here: http://www.ule-fone.com/downloads/ulefone-7-0-inch/
before upgrade, you have to check the sensor types firstly,to get cameras 100% work..
s view
Hello,
I bought the 'created N7' that is like the ulefone u7/tronsmart ps7/luftco a onex/orientphone mega pro 7 etc..., and is sold by the factory with 4.4.2 installed
I found a bug in this product
The bug is about the bad working of the s-view window.
I link here a video where is possible to see how it should work:
http://youtu.be/lk1P9jziw64
The problem is that with the created N7 it is not possible to answer
to the calls without opening the flip cover:
when the N7 receive a call, the s-view window is not sensitive, so it
is not possible to answer
The sview with cover closed is sensitive only for a few seconds after the cover has ben closed, specifically only before the sview goes in standby (black screen)...after the standby, wakening the phone by a call or simply pressing the power button (without opening the cover) the sview seems not sensitive
These are two videos that shows the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG6DMPL5ImE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-By6dqV3xrk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This should be fixed, because is an important feature that is missing:
the phones like N7 of other brands (like ulefone u7/u69, luftco a-one
x, tronsmart ps7, orientphone mega pro 7) instead have a fully
functional s-view window
I already informed some created online sellers (kent wang, peter
yang... ) about this bug,
they told me that they will contact the engineer... but i have
not answer yet...i think they are not able to solve this problemi...
A seller told me that they send the leather case for free,
Its a gift , so i cannot ask them to fix this problem
Can someone help me to fix this problem?
I tried installing firmware of other device (luftco a onex 4.4.2)
But nothing has changed ...(and by the way i found that the luftco firmware
does not fit with my n7...the camera does not work with it)
Any hint?
Any suggestion?
I did some tests i found that actually the sview is sensitive also after the standby, but not enought to feel the touches through the screen...
in the settings there is an option 'increase touch sensitivity to allow the control through sview screen',
seems that this high sensitivity status is not reactivated if the cover is not opened after the phone goes to standby...
How can i fix this problem? perhaps some fix on touch drivers is needed?
Please help me!
Thank you!

Any CWM/TWRP porting tool for MT6580 but 5.1/Lollipop?

Even the auto-search after entering thread title returned only threads with 0 replies...
So i have some no-brand chinese MT6580 running Lollipop 5.1 - not KitKat.
All the automatic and semi-automatic recovery porting tools work only for GB/JB/KK
Sadly the MT6580 kernel source was never leaked, so no compiling also.
Any way to get anything working? i would be even happy with a non-Touch CR...
Bumping this one as I am also looking for a way to port TWRP to my Galaxy S7 clone. And yes, it seems that none of the recovery porting tools seem to work on my end either. :/

I've hacked together a TWRP image for a FiGO "Virtue 2", 512MB, 8GB, MT6580, 5.1 but it is larger than the upload limit so I can not attach it for you. It seems to work with the possible exception thus far of not finding OTG storage, an issue which shall not keep me up at night. Installs, backs up, recovers ..... so far so good.
DISCLAIMER: As everyone says, use at your own risk. If the aliens come and take away your house pets or you experience any other device related or coincidental calamity of any kind, there's nothing I can, should, or will do about it.
Used the Carliv Image Kitchen, my stock recovery image, a TWRP image I found for an Infinix "Hot 2" and the general procedure found at this URL
http://www.xposedgeek.net/how-to-port-philzctrcwmtwrp-recovery-to-your-phone/
If you have the flash stuff for your factory build like I did it is probably a piece of cake, because I am pretty new at this sort of thing and if it can be screwed up I usually can find the way to do so. Took about an hour including thinking time before hitting the button. I was either brave or stupid and didn't even set up a virtual test first, but it works :cyclops: The Almighty must approve of my actions at some level.
Proceed with appropriate caution.
Hope that helps.

The lack of OTG support is indeed something of a shame, but at least this is something. Thanks for the tip mate!
EDIT: OK, so I managed to port TWRP to my device. Only problem is that I had to fiddle with the partitions, and for some reason there seems to be no other way to flip the screen back other than compiling another TWRP image or google my way through a compatible prebuilt by some kid online. I'll post my flipped-screen version ASAP when I get to compile that thing myself.
Sorry for the double-post, but here's the source-built port I made for inverted framebuffers:
https://github.com/huckleberrypie/android_device_alps_z6u030
I made it for clone devices in mind, but feel free to port or fork this in case you need to use this on your phone.

N00b Question regarding Kernel/Custom Os

So i've installed this custom os [ROM] [N6F26Q] AOSP Nougat (12 Jan 2017) on my Galaxy s2 plus, and then my DSLR camera connection stopped working (OTG), but the os says it should be compatible with OTG, i'm not sure the DSLR has anything with OTG to do tho?. Now i have googled around and found files neccessary for it to work, installed them and USB Host Controller detected them, still not recognising the camera.
So is there a way to install what's "neccessary" from the original stock firmware into some kind of kernal or "added function" via Custom Recovery or perhaps Odin?
Thanks to anyone that can potentially help to solve this!
This is something you give up when you use aosp. The otg works only if they use the open source version which most do not.
With aosp only the very basic functions will work.
Any custom rom for s2 plus that it works on if you know?
If anyone else have the same issue, it was never a problem with the os, i've tried it on several custom Os aslong as your phone is OTG compatible it works, it seems.
Buy a new OTG Cable and it will work again, or rather say buy the adapter version of it, better then the ****ty cable version that i bought, that broke out of thin air.

ROM Help?!

I am brand new to XDA and the Android mod world. I am looking into the possibility of purchasing, rooting, unlocking the Bootloader and installing either a Custom ROM or AOSP on a SM-N950U T-Mobile US/Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The goal is privacy and the hope is that these elements can be included:
+Latest Android OS possible
+MicroG (no GAPPS)
+SPenCommand* App
+XPosed Framework (for more advanced SPenCommand features)
+F-Droid
+Retain or add back in as much T-Mobile functionality as possible.
*Unless a Samsung based ROM exists retaining S-Pen functionality with no GAPPS.
There will be other Apps/Utilities I am sure, however, this is the main bundle I am desiring. Since I am just starting out, I do have some questions:
+Is all of this possible on the “SM-N950U” Note 8 Model?
+If so, what ROM options are available?
+Is there a LineageOS with MicroG ROM for this phone?
+Does the Note 8’s 80% Battery situation exist using a ROM?
+I’ve read of TWRP and Magisk, do these have any relevance to this process?
+Do you know what “XPosed Framework” Module(s) I would need?
+If all of this needs to be pieced together to work, do you know what files I would need?
+Are there any other apps/files you would suggest?
+Any newbie Tutorials you would recommend?
+Would a Note 4, Note 9 or Note 10+ be better options?
What I have been reading so far is a lot to take in and I appreciate any help received.

Not going to happen. You'll need to do some research because the N950U has a locked bootloader and there is currently NO WAY to unlock the bootloader so you can't flash custom roms like that.. However if you buy the international version which is N950F you'll be able to do that..

Thanks MrMike!
Do you know if the N950F Model can be setup to retain all T-Mobile features like VoLTE, WiFi Calling, etc? Is there a better International Model Note (9 or 10?) that retains or can be configured to work mostly or fully with T-Mobile's Network? I appreciate your time.
The only way you will get those features on International version is if a developer were to include multi csc in the rom you flash

Well worth the money, I got them for gaming and watching videos, web surfing, really great tablets.

Impreza thank you for making me rest.....I've been surfing online finding answers if that tablet can be rooted...please let me know if you guys found more info..thank you
Bought this thinking it was an upgrade from my Galaxy tab a 8.0 but since it's one ui core it's missing many features. Trying to trade it in now but it's past the 15 days. There's no smart view to mirror to any tv easily, theres no network file manager in my files (can't access G drive or any others).
Just make sure you know what you're buying. It's not lite because of being smaller than A7, it's a stripped down OS and the features can't be installed afterwards (have tried many apks). I didn't want a big tablet, wanted a mid size tablet with upgraded CPU.

I agree with that. If you are sure you know what you're buying, the experience of the A7 Lite isn't bad. One UI Core is the same stripped down OS in the regular A7 (Snapdragon 662) and in the A7 Lite. CPU works very fluid if you tweak some settings (default One UI animations are awfully slow). Battery lasts A LOT (8,5-9 hours SOT). Smart View was removed and changed in all One UI devices with the upgrade to Android 11/One UI 3.0 (regular and Core), and it was replaced with Google Cast native screen mirroring (ergo Chromecast).
Use Solid Explorer or Amaze if you want to access network file places. It works well on my side.
Despite being a Mediatek tablet, you wont't find anything MTK-related in the tablet. Samsung has its software very well masked. And I think that, in Helio P22T, Mediatek vulnerabilities have been fixed with security monthly patches.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that I successfully rooted the tablet using the same method for the Lite as the regular A7 using THIS GUIDE. Obviously it tripped Knox but I needed it rooted for my use case. One note is that when you download the stock firmware with an application like Samsung Firmware Downloader, make sure you choose the correct Model and Region. These can be found in the settings on the tablet.
Is it possible to enable Google Discover for default launcher?
I bought Galaxy Tab A7 Lite LTE SM-T225 3/32GB and it works quite nice. Small and good device. Would be cool to see on it clean Android or LineageOS (fingers crossed). There is not too many ~8 inch tablets today with the latest Android version.

I've been working on porting TWRP for AOSP Android 11 to this device but have run into some roadblocks.
I currently have TWRP running but touch is not working and I can't seem to get Data R/W with the current tools available. It's possible it's an error in my build or maybe a workflow problem.
If anyone out there with more experience is doing the same or wants to help me sort some things out, please let me know.
I purchased the SM-T225 LTE 4/64GB model, a good device, but there was a problem on the latest T225XXU1AUH5 & UI3 firmware, specifically with a modem... after the end of the call, the mobile network disappears, and after rebooting Baseband Unknown Flashing does not help, only resetting the data helps, but before the next call... The device had Root rights, but is now installed stock firmware and blocked the bootloader, but the problem remains... At the same time, if you install the old modem UDA,UE3,UF2 , it works without problems... Has anyone encountered anything like this?
My only disappointment is that knox is included. I came from tab A 8.0 2019 which has no knox
