Minimum brightness - Realme X2 Pro Real Life Review

You don't want to give your significant other yet another reason to yell at you while you're reading XDA in bed. Rate this thread to express what you think of the Realme X2 Pro's display minimum dimness. A higher rating indicates that the display can get extremely dim, ideal for reading in very dark environments.

I heard from two people at least there's a problem with this phone that it has visible greenish tint on lowest brightness. Is that true. They said it's a widespread problem...

Confirmed. Sent mine back for this reason.

I can confirm this is a problem when display is low brightness. But if Flicker-Free mode is turned on the tint disappears completely. And the colours change just a little bit (only when display is low brightness), and not in a bad way. It makes white more natural. I will keep it.

It's an issue due to how amoled display's lower the brightness

Other AMOLEDs do not have this issue. It's not normal.

Let me correct, other 60Hz amoled do not have this issue.
Rest all high refresh rate have this viz.

Merci beaucoup !

good minimum brightness
It looks like the minimum brightness is on the same level with my old Moto G4+, which seems to have a minimum brightness of 25 cd/m².
But I can confirm a greenish tint (but I think it's not only in low brightness but in all brightness levels, just less visible with higher brightness). It doesn't make a difference if I activate DC-Dimming ("flicker free low brightness" or so) or not. And it's also visible in cold as well as in warm display color temperature. I use 90 Hz.

Yes they do... I've personally seen it on 1x S10, 2x S10 plus, 2x note 10 plus, 1x X2 pro, 1x op7t and recently on the galaxy tab 6. I've also seen people say they have it on mi9t pro and iPhone X.
Edit: Believe me this is a wide spread issue among Samsung oleds... I'm not saying every single person has the issue... But I definitely think most do but don't notice or don't know what to look for. There's no way that it's a minority when I've had 2x S10 plus and the X2 pro and my brother 2x note 10 plus aswell as tab 6 and his partner standard s10 and all have a green tint just to different degrees..
Edit: I'd also like to say it's not limited to region or batch... The first S10 plus I had was from Argos UK, the second from eBay and it was a Hong Kong snap dragon version, my brother's note 10 plus both was eBay, his partner standard s10 was if I remember bought from EE when the S10 range first came out.

No Greenish tint on lowest brightness

So, those who were able to spot green tint, must apply for replacement then.

Well yes if it bothers them enough... Although good look getting a screen without this as my above message it's been on them all... As far as I'm concerned it's probably on most if not all recent Samsung panels... That's not me calling people who say they don't have it a lier... I just don't think they have tested enough... It's slightly different on each panel.

Just to add to this I've seen a mi9t pro tonight with the green tint.

You probably saw it on someones Mi 9T Pro who overclocked screen to 81Hz or 90Hz because on default 60Hz Mi 9T Pro have perfect display. You also said that you saw it on 1x S10, 2x S10 plus, 2x note 10 plus, 1x X2 pro, 1x op7t. Well guess what, I also saw that phones and they have perfect display.
Don't talk bad things about other phones if you have issues on your phone.
X2 Pro is really great phone but most of them have some issues with display because Realme had to cut somewhere to give phone with this specs for very low price so they ordered lowest quality amoled from Samsung.

Don't tell me what I saw or didn't or make out I'm talking rubbish.. the s10 is my brother's partner... The 2 note 10s plus was my brother and the 2x S10 plus was mine... The mi9t pro is also my brother's and he only received it yesterday no screen overclock.
Little update regarding the mi9t pro... My brother got the phone replaced due to heating issues... The new one has less green hue over grey but is still there but this time grey is not uniform and lighter or darker on certain areas and this gets worse when brightness is lower.
This comment is pure speculation.
"Realme had to cut somewhere to give phone with this specs for very low price so they ordered lowest quality amoled from Samsung."
I've attached a photo of my brother's first note 10 plus and I'll have a look later if I can find anymore... He actually posted this on Sam community.
https://ibb.co/Bj0HBzZ
I've attached a good image for others to test... Download the image and double tap in the gallery to expand to full screen... Slowly adjust your brightness while checking the image... This on mine is hard to see any issues unless in a full dark room with no light.

Does people with the green tint tried the 60Hz mode to see if changed something ? Wanted to buy this phone but if the screen is bad...

Makes a small difference but the 90hz is not the problem... As I said above with the other phones of which most are 60hz.
Edit 17/04
Pixel 4XL, S10 lite, a71, s20s showing to have this aswell... Like I said previously this is a wide spread Samsung panel issue.

Outdoor visibility (max brightness)

Rate this thread to express how well you can see the LG G6's display outdoors. In case you've been playing Minecraft for 18 months straight, you might not known how to get outside anymore. Well, find the door and walk through it. A higher rating indicates that it has very high maximum brightness and thus fantastic outdoor visibility in direct sunlight.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Would've loved an amoled screen.
Well that's sure to help anyone considering getting the G6.
Are you sure it's not Amoled? Did you research reviews and specs before you were forced to get your G6?
Please don't reply.
Well i have used the phone in direct sunlight and cant really say anything bad about it is readable so tha i can take calls, read texts but i wouldn't go out and start watching a video since when i say direct sunlight its like 90+°F lol but if i sit in a sunlight area with a bit of wind then yes phone is plenty bright enought for me to watch content on and enjoy it
For me it deserves 4 stars. LG G6 is more than sufficiently visible under direct sunlight.
It's pretty amazing to me that nobody other than Samsung has figured out oled for mobile screens. You know lg has been working on it for years, but for some reason they just can't mass produce it. Samsung has it mastered.
Actually LG isn't really starting to dabble in small OLED until next year.
As far as screen quality goes I saw a review stating measured 557 nits, as bright as the iPhone 7. Color accuracy was better than the iPhone and S7. Gamut was a little disappointing with 136% sRGB vs 197% for the S7. All in all a great display, probably the best LCD ever put in a phone.

im very impressed with the lg g5's display. super bright, very rich in color. and crazy sharp.
It's summer season where I'm at and yesterday I was at the beach. Visibility is low in outdoor bright light.
Probably a weird question, but how is this phone when using with polarised sunglasses?
My Z2 turns to black in some angles in portrait mode and completely black in horizontal.
Cheers
I will have pretty good comparison. HTC 10 was having highest ppi and regarded as the best lCD display. However outdoor visibility was extremely bad. I am not sure but I think it is a characteristics of LCD display . One thing I notice that even for camera HTC 10 was relying on display. Whenever I was opening camera app the screen was automatically turning 100% bright and then comeback to normal after closing the app. It happen with third party camera app as well. I will report once I get G6.

my experience: under sunlight (outdoor) in automatic brightness it is very difficult to see..... the always on display is completely invisible!!!!
wrong buy for me this g6

Don't use auto brightness. Auto brightness is buggy in most devices. Try to do it manually.

You can see the display in all angles. Slightly worse with rainbow-effect in some angles, but still visible.
Anyone know how it compares with the LG V20 display?

Yes it may be buggy however according to http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g6-review-752130/
the LG G6 display actually gets brighter than 100% when it is set to AUTO.
"Putting it through our testing, we found the display to have a max manual brightness of 556 nits, which is boosted to a very respectable 663 nits when auto brightness is engaged under direct light. In sunlight, this is likely to be even higher"
I have no way to test this myself. The display is just barely usable in direct sunlight. Better than my G3 though. I wish it was better in this regard since I use this as my motorcycle GPS sometimes.

Do you use auto brightness and/or a screen protector? I guess some phones have brighter screens than others...

Buy recommendation please :)

Hi,
i wanted to buy a new phone with a budeg up to 500 euro (580usd) but if possibly more around 400€
it has to have an oled display and an atleast okayish camera.
The mate 10pro is my favorit but i heard some annoying things about the display.
1st of all that the display isnt birght engough. Sure oleds arent as bright but i heard that the mate 10 pro's display is just to dark for normal use
2nd that it changes brightness when opening apps.
3rd that auto birghtness is auto activated after locking the phone
4th thing i heard is that the Kirin overheats preatty fast and just isnt good overall (i know it lacks behind its Snapdragon counterpart but thermal throttle after a few mins shouldnt be normal)
What can you tell me to this points?
Oh and i have not choosen any phone atm so i am open for other recommendations but iPhones and S8/S9 because they failed badly at droptests.
Thank you all

1. Display is definitely bright enough, not sure where you read/heard that but it's great on sunny days.
2. I've never experienced it changing brightness when opening any apps.
3. Auto brightness turns itself on when the phone is rebooted not when the screen is locked.
4. The only intensive game I have on my phone is asphalt 9 and I can play it for well over a hour with minimal heat, it gets warmish but nothing out of the ordinary.
I'd definitely recommend this phone over any other

TheAndroid do you own the pro?
I read a lot about the phone here on xda and it seems like that the pro with the amoled changes brightness and got clouding (bright spots).
Don't know if every one got it or just a few. It's always kinda hard to tell because if everything works fine you don't open up a forum randomly and say that you don't have clouding or brightness changes.
In generell it sounds pretty good and, at least I read it here, there will be a really big update that increases performance and battery life

My Mate 10 Pro has 0 problem
Sent from my BLA-L29 using Tapatalk
Im bored atm so i scrolled a bit and copied multiple statments from other mate 10/pro (idk) users in this forum
*One little flaw to mention. I have some clouding. At moderate to low brightness level, grey color is the worst. (screen shot was taken by another phone, so in real life it isn't that bad)
The problem is less prominent at higher brightness levels.
Anyone else have the same issue?
*yes same problem on mate 10 pro FRANCE ... REGRETE ALMOST MY PURCHASE
*I've got the same green tint on lower brightness (30% and lower)
Did any of you guys exchange it and got a better screen with no green tint on grey screens?
*I got my replacement device today and it also had that clouding issue! Really pisses me off because one of my main use cases on my mobile devices is reading pocket articles in dark mode. This is where I could see the yellow clouding very clearly. The replacement also had a defective fingerprint scanner (did not work at all not even during setup).
Now I'm waiting for my third device, if that one still has clouding (even if it is slightly) then I'm going to switch to the XL2. At least it doesn't have clouding.
This is meant to be huaweis high end device, such issues are nogos for me. Even my much cheaper but beloved Moto Z Play doesn't have this issue.
To summ it all up: There are many ppl with problems like clouding, brighter on left/right side and i somewhere read that a guy got a greenish matrix over his display. But there are also alot saying that theirs works fine and when you buy a phone and everything is fine most ppl dont open up a forum to say that it is fine but when there is a problem they all do it....
This awnser is not really for you two guys but for the ppl who maybe visit this thread and want to know whats up.
I'll get to a store next days and see if they got one there if it is fine i'll buy it and if i still remember or if it is broke you'll see me agian here
I don't have any of those problem on my Mate 10 Pro BLA-A09, the only time that you will see that the brightness changes is when watching hdr videos on YouTube

No issues for me with the same variant. Had the phone for almost a year. HDR with you tube does impact it, and moving from a light to dark environment will change as it should. This phone handles auto brightness much better than my Galaxy 8 + does.

Bomber... I bought a brand new one on swappa recently and it remains as brand new. I want to root it and do advanced things, but it is not as easy as I thought. I will probably sell mine in the next day or 2. Pm me if you are interested. I live in Florida and have good ebay and swappa ratings. The phone is in mint condition with all original accessories, box, and plastic covers.
Don't have the Mate 10 Pro, have a Mate 10 and 2 Mate 9's, one Mate 9 is my spare phone and the second is my wife's main phone. No quality issue's whatsoever, no heating when using normally like for example the Note 4 (have also 2 of them for the S-pen function) which melts nearly when doing normal updates. No issue's with brightness, true they have no oled display's. What I am trying to say is that you can always find negative feedback over ANY phone and ANY brand. Some people will ***** about anything. Sure, you can have bad luck to...but I almost have the feeling you are searching for an excuse not to buy the mate 10...Good luck!

It really seems a bit like I'm searching for excuses but there are a lot last Gen flagship for around 400€. It is hard to find out what's really up who is just hating, who is just a fanboy. Watched hours of YouTube about phone x, y and z but they all say something else. BTW the comments on videos where they compare phones are hilarious
Yes, you will reach a point - have reached a point you don't know any more what to believe or think...Don't forget that you will only find negative feedback on the net. People in general don't post how happy they are with a phone, no they will post rather how dissatisfied they are.

True. I'll probably buy the mate 10 pro becasue idk it just feels better to me. With the upcoming updates to emui 8.2 and android pie it should be near perfect. Sure it got problems with custom roms twrp aso. but if i want to do it i'll find a way
The only way i wont take it is when the OP6 drops to 400 too
I think the Mate 10 Pro is a brilliant phone for the money it now goes for. Sure it's not perfect, but is there any such thing? It has one of biggest batteries you can find in a phone today with fast charging, a brilliant 18:9 OLED display with no notch and very slim bezels, face unlocking, Leica cameras with a fantastic b&w sensor, night mode, stereo speakers, ip67, 128gb storage, 6gb ram, kirin970 with npu, ir blaster... All for a THIRD of the price of a Note 9. Yes the K970 is a bit slower than the Sd845, no it doesn't have a headphone jack and it doesn't have expandable memory. But I personally never use these, and K970 is still more than fast enough - I have never seen one hiccup or stutter. With the right launcher and wallpapers etc your can pretty much make EMUI look like 'stock' Android if you want. Just buy it!

Btw in case it's not obvious, I own one and I'm super picky about stuff like screens etc but there really isn't anything I can fault with it. Everything just works. The only real negative is the lack of updates - Huawei tends to push out updates every 3 or 4 months which isn't great, but better than nothing and is no worse than most of the other OEMs. If the latest updates are the most important thing to you, stick with pixels, OnePlus or Android One.

Actually the camera is not by Leica just the lense and it is one made out of plastic.... Oh and you probably ment the SD835 the kirin lacks a bit behind it but it should be okay with the gpu boost update and android pie is incomming for the mate 10
Im using mate 10 not pro. Only have problems on my screen at bottom have yellowish tint. Already send to huawei and change the lcd two times, still the same. I guess i must live with it. To be honest, this is the best phone i have ever used. Very snappy, top notch camera, proc not have overheat issue when playing heavy games unlike my sd821 before.

I meant the 845 as it is the latest available Snapdragon chip in phones like the OnePlus 6 etc. My point is that the chip although not the most powerful is still plenty fast enough for most people's needs and it comfortably handles pretty much anything you throw at it. The camera in my opinion is good - when I take a photo the results to me look very good. Am I a professional photographer? No, if I was I'd have a DSLR.
As an overall package, including price, I believe that this phone is one of the best you can get right now. Of course, this will change, and if OnePlus release the 6t with stereo speakers and a 3800-4000 mah battery, I may well get that.

Colours are dull

Anyone know how to increase the saturation of the display? The display looks quite dull compared to oneplus 6, galaxy s9 and iPhone x. Had them all side by side. I'm always finding I have to increase the saturation of photos too after taking them to match the colours in scene cause they are clearly muted. If you transfer the unedited photos taken on the mate 20 pro to another phone or computer, they look fine. So glad it's not the camera, just seems to be the display having poor vibrancy. And yes my display is set on vivid in settings.
Would like to know if others have noticed this as I checked out another mate 20 pro on display in a shop and seemed to have the same problem
Try settings - display - colour and eye comfort
I don't find them dull myself but a change in settings could help.
Yeah is on vivid in settings ?
Even my pixel 2 XL looks much more vibrant! It's lovely to pick up and use after the M20Pro. I have BOE screen
Mines is more vivid than my note 9! BOE screen here

Interesting, seems to be some major inconsistencies then with this phone. Samsung phones I find over saturated so I can only imagine. I have a green LG screen atm and didn't want to switch to a boe cause I heard the LG display was more vivid than the BOE and I'm finding the saturation on my LG display already so poor so couldnt imagine what it would be like on a BOE screen.
The screen is fine. Seems people are just opening threads now to make baseless accusations against the phone because it's so much better than the competition.
I have Pixel 3 and Mate 20 pro, and just sold my Note 9 and while the whites aren't as blinding as the Note 9 , the saturation is just fine. The Pixel 3 on adaptive is too saturated and the photos from the camera are just fine.
Bringing up the saturation in the camera photos to match the scene? please.
I would advise the op to sell it and get a Pixel.

screen resolution

Hello,
Today I went to a xiaomi shop in France and the paper near the mi a3 says 1080p screen !!!
So I asked a seller why on internet it's 720p.
He said the screen is 1080p but android display only 720p (because on other models a bug happens with android auto and 1080p. Maybe with an update it will become 1080p)
This is very weird. The screen doesn't look like a 1080p
Do you think this is true ?
And why it's written 1080 !?
(Sorry for my bad English ^^)
they probably messed up the product info paper. the explanation they gave you is ridiculous.
mi a3 = mi cc9e with android one.
Okay thank you for your answer.
I'm thinking maybe originally the mi a3 was supposed to be 1080 and they change it very late in the device creation. so they still have paper with 1080p screen ?
(Btw I bought one hoping the community will be big. My 2013 nexus 5 is pretty old ?)
i was hoping we get a rebranded mi cc9 (non e) too. not getting an a3 as it stands.
Actually the 720p screen is not that bad (okay we can see the pixels) the battery life is suppose to be better and games are running better

if you can see the pixels that's bad. the excuse for better battery is just wrong. the 4k battery would easily survive a full day on a 1080p display too. and if they had used the cc9 that has a better graphics for games. no, this is just a bad move from xiaomi, no point to sugar coat it. they should have used the cc9 even if it brought the price over 300-350 or at least upgraded the screen. it still would have been a very good value device. as it is... it's a missed opportunity!

I have a Xiaomi Mi A3, the information you can see the screen pixels are wrong, it is not possible to see the screen pixels since unlike the IPS screen, in AMOLED screen this is not possible. You will not notice so much the difference between an AMOLED screen and an IPS screen. The only difference I noticed is that on Full HD the screen is sharper, but the difference is not that big. If you want to buy, you need not worry about it.

you shouldn't be "OK" with it. in 2019 you should be able to pick the features/things that you want on a phone instead of having to live with bad decisions from xiaomi. we are not sheep having to buy any turd they put out. there are many more manufcturers and many more phone models. if you have any second thoughts about the phone, return it, get your money back and pick something else. it's a free economy, you dont like something, pick something else. the market will bend xiaomi and not the other way around.

There are actually more than a few Xiaomi phones that are cheaper or almost as cheap as the Mi A3. I'm not sure where you got your SAR specs for the Mi A3, but I suppose this can be fixed by using earphones, preferably not Bluetooth (since they have their own radiation issues). Myself I normally don't use my phone as a phone but as an ultraportable tablet, so I'm not too concerned about SAR.
I got the sar here : https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model-sar/51c75175
And also in the store (you can also see the 1080p resolution here) :

He is saying the truth cuz as all of you know the iPhone 8 currently my social phone is 720p resolution but when I open youtube for most Android phone with 720 p screen they limit at 720p but my iPhone can max out at 1080p the other one is my brother's Xperia 1 all of you must know that it has 4k display but it is not 4k Everytime.when you game on the Xperia it will compress to 720p also when you are multitasking it switch to 1080p the only time when 4k is applied when you web surfing like YouTube or Instagram and when opening the gallery and camera
It's 720p screen and it's ****, no honest person gonna deny that,, that's just not acceptable in 2019.
Xiaomi is a bad company they are putting an end to the mi A line up in favor to their ****ty miui os,,
I got Mi A2 Lite (FHD) and Mi A3 (HD) - i personally cannot see much difference in everyday normal using. There are options for interface and font size, i was allways using custom ones, so the screen is not a problem for me. Mi biggest problem is navigation buttons missing, but thats different topic.

If this is true, big mistake from xiaomi that doesn't announced the entire A3 line at once. Why announces one in July and one in August? This will really frustrated a lot of A3 owners, including me.

I used to think like you, including the bits about how xiaomi is probably trying to make us buy its MIUI products. However, I've since gotten an A3. And I can tell you, the problem is not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. It does save battery life, and pixelation is not nearly as noticeable as I thought. I have to look pretty hard to see the difference that the complaint seems moot. Yet OLED is obviously brighter and more vibrant than IPS LCD, and also necessary for the in screen fingerprint sensor. To have all these specifications (OLED, imx586, 4000mah, SD665, sd card, headphone jack, gorilla glass back, etc) at this price point itself is a sincere effort.
You have to check it out yourself before you make your final judgment. I personally am an unlikely convert and I'm loving it. Although I still wouldn't mind having a CC9 a3 pro, I honestly think xiaomi did a really good job with A3, and it's probably a more thoughtfully balanced package if not the best spec'ed in the latest xiaomi lineup, in my opinion.

General Mi 11 Lite 5G Review

It has been a week since I started using this phone and here is my review:
- So light and so thin. There is no other phone like it.
- Everything is very smooth and fast.
- No heating issues. I usually take a break when I first setup a phone (large file transfer, mass installation of apps...etc.) for I do not like holding a hot chunk of glass, plastic, or aluminium. I did not experience that with this phone.
- Display quality is excellent. My last phone had deltaE score of 1.4 and I assume 11L5G is probably in that area too. In other words, near perfect white balance and color reproduction.
I am not sure if I have the pentile or the other inferior display. All I know is that it is indistinguishable from AMOLED used in S10 Plus and top notch LCD screen of my previous phone.
- Camera. It has noticeable and annoying lag in low light situation. I am not talking about dark dark settings but just indoor situation. I press the shutter then it takes a photo just when I start wondering if I did not press the shutter button. Since such shutter lag is just a strange problem I never experienced on other phones, I expect it to be fixed on next update.
- Build quality is quite good and its back panel looks very premium.
- Vibration motor is excellent. This is the one area where manufactures cut corners and I am glad it is the not case this time.
- Widevine L1 even after unlock. But you cannot install NetFlix from Playstore but APK install works fine.
Overall, I am very much pleased with this phone. If you want a phone that is light and thin, you have no other choice but to go with this one. Ever since introduction of 5G, the market kept pumping out thick and heavy phones. Xiaomi too until this phone. What's great is that this phone is not just light but comes with great CPU, display, large battery, build quality, vibration motor and everything. It would've been perfect if no shutter lag issue. I do expect the issue to be fixed since it cannot possibly be a hardware problem.
EDIT: I retract what I said about display quality. It is, indeed, distinguishable from AMOLED used in S10 Plus or my previous phone which uses LCD with 441 ppi. Text do not appear as sharp as those. It is micro blurry and you may not even notice it if your sight is not so very good. I am still not sure if my phone came with pentile or delta though.
Tried Gcam 8.1 forced 4k60 on main lens, works well, Snapdragon 780G 5G version

It's been a while, around 2 years since I used Gcams. I am currently trying various copies of Gcams. Many works well but it sucks is that there seems to be no config file that is for S5KGW3 sensor.

I'm having the same issue. Last week I have ordered the Mi 11 Lite 5G and when watching videos (War Thunder for example) the lack of details in those videos is big compared to my Redmi Note 8 Pro. The screen is also slightly brighter and discoloured. That probably means we have the RGB Delta screen.
Hi,
I'm planning to buy a Mi 11 lite 5G.

I checked and confirm that I do have delta panel. However, I cannot tell a difference when watching a video. The difference is only noticeable when reading fine text. That is compared to my previous device Honor 20 which has superb 440 ppi LCD screen.

Battery life is highly subjective - everyone's usage patter is different.
AccuBattery Battery Health shows that my device has 3561 mah estimated capacity. And it gets me about 10h 30 min. of on screen time. Note that I do not game and use phone mainly for browsing stuff and apps that are not heavy.

I am very disappointed about it. The capacity of the battery is only at 90%. I have to reload several times a day. My old Poco F1 lasts longer.... With the same apps.

I came from a oneplus 5T.
5T I could not get past a whole day without charging once, warp charge is still fast but still.
Mi 11 lite I can go the whole day and it charges fast if needed.
Yes, fast charge is very efficient, with 33W it's better than the OP5T with 20W.

I have an issue with Bluetooth, it doesn't automatically connect to paired devices like my car (most importantly), speaker or laptop.
I have searched for a solution on Internet but couldn't find a fix. BTW same problem on my Poco F2 pro and Oppo X2pro. All are global rom.
Has anyone a solution for this problem?
What about carriers AT&T won't work with it the 410 MCT won't stick on apn
Guys I'm having issues with heating. Could you check your battery temperature while doing some normal app browsing? I'm getting 33-37c
