You shouldn't have to do this every time, is there no other way to edit the twrp to make it compatible

stable update problem
i updated yesterday. but alot of fetures are not working like force dark mode, screen pulse notification LIGHTS ETC.

I used 7-Zip on my PC to edit the first two lines as instructed then transferred over to my Redmi K20 Pro and it worked. My phone was bought on AliExpress with Global ROM. I flashed it to Chinese then to Indian ROM. I was on 10.4.8 before installing this update. Booting up now...
Thanks!

Can I dirty flash 10.3.5 and go back to miui 10. There are lots of issues with miui 11

Tutorial: Going from stock Lollipop or Marshmallow to Nougat.

I will tell you how to go from stock to a custom rom running Nougat.
Notice:
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in these ROMs
* before flashing them! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

First, you must go to Marshmallow from Lollipop. If you are already on stock Marshmallow, skip this step.
1. First off, you'd need to download and extract two files. SP Flash Tools and the 6.0 stock rom.. You should use the first link, but if you have an idea what you're doing, nothing's wrong with flashing with TWRP rather than SP Flash, if you already have it installed for whatever reason.
2. In SP Flash Tools, set the download agent to MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin found in the SP Flash folder, and the scatter file to MT6753_Android_scatter.txt in the extracted rom zip file.
3. Turn off and unplug your phone.
4. Click on Download in SP Flash, then plug in your phone.
5. Upon completion, boot directly to recovery by holding volume up and power until the BLU logo appears.
6. Do a factory reset with a Wipe.
7. You can skip the next part.

Now, you need to flash TWRP to your phone.
1. Go to this thread. I know, it's Lineage OS. The ROM you decide to flash does not matter. The recovery works for all ROMs.
2. Download SP Flash Tools if you have not already.
3. Flash the recovery to your phone with SP Flash Tools.
Click to collapse
Now, you need to copy some files from your phone to your computer.
1. Boot into TWRP.
2. Under mount, enable system.
3. Under the Advanced tab, open File Manageer.
4. Copy the following folders to a folder accessible to your PC. I recommend a USB drive (/usbotg/) or the external sd card (/external_sd/).
/system/etc/firmware
/system/etc/mddb
5. Copy those folders to your PC.
Click to collapse
Next, you must select your custom ROM of choice.
Lineage OS 14.1
AOSP Extended 4.6
Resurrection Remix 5.8.5
Viper OS 3.1.1 (My current ROM of choice)
Cr Droid 3.8.4
Download your ROM of choice and if you are on the following devices, download the patch as well.
BLU Vivo 5, Condor A55 slim, and Gionee s6
Click to collapse
If on the BLU Vivo 5, Condor A55 slim, and Gionee s6, you open the PATCH zip file and delete the following folders.
/system/etc/firmware
and
/system/etc/mddb
Then what you do is you copy the firmware and mddb folders from your phone into the patch file, taking the place of the folders you just deleted.
Click to collapse
If on the BLU Vivo 5r, Condor A8, or Gionee s6s, you open the ROM zip and delete the following folders.
/system/etc/firmware
and
/system/etc/mddb.
Then what you do is you copy the firmware and mddb folders that you copied from your phone into the patch (taking the place of the folders you just deleted).
Click to collapse
Lastly, you copy the rom and patch (if applicable) files to your phone.
Then you flash through TWRP. Always make a backup before flashing anything.
Enjoy your new ROM.
I personally recommend you download the latest Magisk and Gapps micro packages and flash them too.
Thanks for this guide. I will try to get the Marshmallow firmware and upload for making the process faster.

What do you mean?
Is there a reason this will not work with Fastboot?
Okay, so it looks as if Fastboot is disabled on my device. I went into the Stock Rom, and I found there is a switch on the Stock Rom that turns Fastboot on and off. It says: Allow Oem Unlock.
I've heard of some folks bricking their Phones this way by flipping this switch in the stock rom. Is that true?
My choices seem to be:
1. Use SP Flash Tool to Flash TWRP. Then TWRP to load AOSP Extanded, or Lineage.
2. attempt to use that switch to see if it will let me do a fastboot oem unlock.
I'd like to try the second, but I want to know if thats a land mine to a bricked Phone if I flip the switch to allow OEM Unlock of the bootloader.
If on Android 6, use SP Flash.
If on 5, use SP flash to repair rom, upgrade to 6. Flash TWRP
Updated today. You can now upgrade directly to Marshmallow with TWRP installed using SP Flash thanks to onasre. Skips OTA entirely.

The Ultimate Guide for Redmi K20 Pro [Raphael]
Fake Global ROM to Chinese ROM to Global ROM/EU/Mi-Room
ATTENTION!*All that you will do with the phone is guided by this guide - it lies in the area of your personal responsibility only.*Neither I nor other members of the forum, not the administration of the forum are responsible.*
If you do not understand something and the written guide below - contact the LS to knowledgeable colleagues, as I did!*Hide created for the Chinese version of the phone K20 Pro - Global ROM.*(for India it will not work!)*
I will explain in stages what to do, giving my comments in my simple language: what?*What for?*Why?*Don't be scared that there are a lot of points - I tried to chew everything up.
So what do we have?*
• K20 Pro - Global ROM (Installed by the Chinese firmware, with no updates, poor translation, with not working Gpay)*
• You must create an official mi account and link the device to it.*
What do we need?:*
• Installation Recovery - Orange fox (Advanced replacement of standard Recovery, and installation of any firmware) - Wildly necessary thing!*
• Installing the firmware MI Room 9.7.4*
• Proper operation of the GPAY through the patch*
Introduction)*
So, you got a phone from China.*What do you have in your hands?*This is the device on which the Chinese put the left firmware and at the same time did not unlock the bootloader officially - which is not compatible with the transition to any, really good firmware.*
Before we begin - the most important thing!*(further quote from the forum):
ATTENTION!*CHINESE VERSION REDMI K20 PRO CAN BE BLOCKED ONLY ON THE CHINESE FIRMWARE!*Before carrying out any operation, read the materials that are referenced in the header themes, check Search by topic, and if not found the answer to your question, or do not understand something, ask more experienced users.*
Do you understand?*Now read again 20 and memorize this phrase!*
INSTALLATION OF THE CHINESE OFFICIAL FIRMWARE AND LOCKER DOWNLOAD AND UNLOCK!*
What for?*Your phone needs to be unlocked officially.*To do this, you must put the official firmware and file for unlocking officially.*
What is needed (all in the header):*
•Firmware file - *10.3.6.0 China Fastboot
• Program MiFlash 2018.11.15.0 (we need administrator rights) - a program to install Fastboot-type firmware and lock the phone loader.*
• Driver for computer - ADB Driver Lite
• Program - miflash_unlock*
• Phone*
• Type C Cable*
1) Download all of the above and check that everything downloaded*in the right “size”.*
2) Install MiFlash 2018.11.15.0*on the C drive:
3) Go to MiFlash 2018.11.15.0 - it will offer to install the drivers.*Do not hesitate to install everything - exit the program!*
4) Install ADB Driver Lite (by default it is set by MiFlash but will not be worse if you additionally install the latest driver from the header)
5) - CORRECTLY unpacking the firmware 10.3.6.0 China Fastboot!*By default, you download it with the extension .tgz!*The file you downloaded will be called raphael_images_V10.3.6.0.PFKCNXM_20190516.0000.00_9.0_cn_ed862b8182.tgz*
- Unzip this .tgz file and get a file with the .tar extension.*The full name will be - raphael_images_V10.3.6.0.PFKCNXM_20190516.0000.00_9.0_cn_ed862b8182.tar.*
- Unzip this .tar file and get a folder named raphael_images_V10.3.6.0.PFKCNXM_20190516.0000.00_9.0_cn.*Here we will work with this folder in the future!*You need to move it to drive C:!*It is important!*
6) Switch the phone to debug mode via USB.*(I think there will be no problems here)
7) Transfer the phone to FASTBOOT mode.*Turn off the device.*Clamp the power button + volume rocker down.*If there is a hare and the inscription Fastboot then everything is OK!*
8) In MiFlash, press the Select button, specify the path to the folder with the firmware raphael_images_V10.3.6.0.PFKCNXM_20190516.0000.00_9.0_cn and click ok.*
9) Something like this should appear in the line:*С: \ raphael_images_V10.3.6.0.PFKCNXM_20190516.0000.00_9.0_cn
10) Put a clean all and lock checkbox at the bottom.*This parameter means that the*
phone will be erased while all data is erased, and the bootloader is locked.*(only for the Chinese version of the phone)*
11) We connect the phone (in fastboot mode) to the computer through the official drawstring.*And without any USB hubs and adapters!*
12) Press the Refresh button.
13) If everything is correct then a line should appear with the id of the phone and the status ready.*
14) So, the phone is recognized.*The path to the folder with the firmware is specified.*Galka clean all and lock costs.*Press the flash button.*
15) The phone starts to sew!*Do not unplug the power cord!*don't touch anything at all.*Do not breathe!*The firmware time is about 10 minutes.*
16) At the end of the firmware, complete will appear in the line with the execution status and the phone will restart (up to 10 minutes) to the initial welcome screen.*Disconnect the phone.*
17) Hooray you flashed to the Chinese firmware and officially blocked the phone.*Let's start the activation and application for unlocking.
18) The first thing that will meet you is the screen in Chinese.*With two button in Chinese.*Push first you are asked to enter something ... This is the password from your mi account.*We enter.*
19) Tap on the second button connect to the Wi-Fi or skip.*
20) Choose the English language.*Customize your phone.*
21) Transfer the phone to the developer mode.*In the settings of the developer, we go into the unlock status (I don’t remember exactly how to speak English).*We see the closed lock, below we see the button.*Click on it!*And we will register the phone for the official unlock (Wi-Fi should be turned off and mobile networks on).*
22) Next, go to the mi account and check that your mobile phone is tied.*Are you convinced?*I recommend to look at the corresponding topic on the forum with the video.
23) On the PC, run miflash_unlock.*Log in to your mi account.*The phone is transferred to the Fastboot mode (point 7) and connected to the computer.*Press the unlock button.*At the same time, we confirm a bunch of times that we are sure that we want to do this.*All your data will be destroyed.*
24) The PC starts to unlock and at some point gives a message that the unlock failed and should be tried again after 168 hours.
25) Congratulations, you activated the counter before unlocking.*You walk with the phone 7 days on the Chinese firmware.*Is it hard?*Well no.*You can take the apk with Google services from the page on this forum and install what you need.*
26) It's been 168 hours, and you're ready to unlock.*
27) But before you do ... Update your phone over the air to the latest version - nowhere on the forum it is not written (I have not seen) but this is important.*I will explain later why!*Remember this item.*
28) Start and repeat paragraph 23. And lo and behold!*The unlock process has begun.*And at the end there is an inscription that the phone is unlocked.
29) Now, when you boot your phone, you should see Unlocked.*Check out what it is!*
30) Configure the phone again.*Turn on USB debugging mode.*
31) Further, in my opinion the most dreary, because the forum has a lot of conflicting information.*I will tell you how I did.*But before continuing, I can say that since you have already received unlock, it is almost impossible to turn the phone around (but everything is possible)*
32) So, download three things:*
- TWRP-3.3.1*
- OrangeFox R10.0 Recovery*
- MI Room 9.7.4 firmware
33) Everything that you downloaded in the zip archives.
34) Unzip -TWRP-3.3.1 to drive C. Transfer the phone to Fastboot (item 7) and connect it to the computer.*We find in the unpacked folder TWRP file with the extension .bat.*in different versions of TWRP called differently.*I called Flash_twrp.bat*
35) And before*proceeding, I’ll*remind you about clause 27).*The fact is that I could not install TWRP without updating over the air.*Therefore, you must first install the update.*And on the firmware 10.3.6.0 China Fastboot.*- It will not work to put TWRP and you will have to do a lot again*
36) Start and get the menu in my Russian language, where we select the auto installation (1).*After a couple of seconds, your phone should reboot into TWRP recovery.*There we choose the language if asked.*
37) And
so, we are in the main menu of TWRP.*We need to take a series of actions*(in a strict order)
38) Go to the Wipe point and select FORMAT DATA -> svayp -> type yes.*The formatting process takes a couple of seconds.*What does this item do in my understanding?*He decrypts the data on the phone, which is necessary to throw on the phone firmware and Orange fox.*
39) Exit the main menu by clicking REBOOT Recovery.*The phone should reboot into the main menu again.*And on the PC, it should be defined as a phone with Internal storage.*Go to the Internal storage on the PC.*See the TWRP folder?*If yes, then everything is OK!*
40) On the phone, go to the Wipe point and select Advanced wipe -> svayp -> select all the items*except System and OTG* svayp
41) Exit the main menu, press REBOOT -> Recovery.*The phone should reboot into the main menu again.*
42) On the PC, go to the phone -> Internal storage and next to the TWRP folder, throw the downloaded OrangeFox R10.0 recovery directly into the zip archive.*
43) On the phone, go to the Install item and see our Orange Fox.*Choose it.*AND THERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!*He will ask you to install two checkboxes before installation: one of them Verification of the ZIP signature (in English) and so this checkbox must be removed, otherwise the error will be.*We start the installation.*Your phone must reboot into Orange FOX.*
44) So what is Orange Fox?*This same TWRP is simply much more convenient and stable.*
45) On the PC, go to the phone -> Internal storage and next to the TWRP folder, throw the downloaded firmware to the worlds.
46) In Orange Fox, select this firmware, also remove the checkmark ZIP signature check (in English).*And start the process of installing the firmware.*
47) Hooray you got the best, in my opinion, firmware)*
48) Disconnect from the computer.*Customize your phone.*
49) Installing a patch for Gpay is easy.*Straight from the phone, download the patch file.*
50) Put the phone in orange fox recovery mode.*Turn off the device.*We press the power button + volume rocker UP (not to be confused with the power button + volume rocker DOWN for Fastboot boot mode)*
51) In the Downloads folder we see our patch and install (also remove the Check Signature ZIP checkbox).*
52) Congratulations!

Yes, you can flash it with TWRP. That's the multilanguage rom with Google Play preinstalled and without the bloatware of the Chinese version.

Hi. I really appreciate the post.. just one question though? What are the firmwares for? Coz if I am not mistaken, to be able to install twrp and root, all I need is to unlock the bootloader then flash the twrp.img. Please enlighten me.. thank you..
---------- Post added at 07:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:33 PM ----------
Also, will bootloader unlocking and installing twrp wipe everything I have in my internal storage?

The firmwares are the stock roms, should you need to recover the phone. The fastboot ROM is the absolute failsafe and flashes almost all partitions. This can be updated using scripts within the package or using the Mi flash tool. The recovery roms will just update the system partition and flashed using recovery, either stock or TWRP or any other recovery.
Installing TWRP won't touch anything on the phone except the recovery partition. However bootloader unlocking will perform a factory reset. In theory the internal storage should remain untouched, but best to back it up.

9.6.11 is China Beta
9.6.13 is EU version which is from Xiaomi.EU . Unofficial global version based on China ROM that removes all chinese bloat and adds more languages.

[Guide] How to install Magisk on MIUI and How to install GSI roms

Hello everyone, firstly, i'm not a dev. I'm just someone who really enjoying tweaking phones, Windows... So, in this post i'll show you how to install Magisk and GSI rom. Most of resources i took from 4PDA forum. Redmi 8A section on their forum is very active. My phone is Chinese variant (4-64), using MIUI 11 Xiaomi.eu rom / Havoc OS 3.1 GSI
Backup your data before doing anything!!!
Code:
#include <std/disclaimer.h>
/*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear
* war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following these
* directions. YOU are choosing to make these modificiations, and
* if you point your finger at me for messing up your device, I will
* laugh at you.
*/
#1. Install TWRP
- First, you must unlock phone with Mi Unlock tool. Which can be download from http://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html The unlocking process normally will take about 14 days.
- After unlock the phone, flash twrp from @milankragujevic thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-8a/help/twrp-redmi-8a-olivelite-global-miui-10-t4006827
Now you'll have a working twrp.
#2 Install Magisk
1. Download lastest Magisk Flashable Zip from @topjohnwu thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
2. Download patcher tool (thanks to @YaAlex3): http://files.yaalex.tk/patcher.7z
3. Reboot the phone to TWRP, on the computer, open adb and type command:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img
This'll pull your current boot image to sdcard
4. Unpack patcher.7z, copy boot.img to this folder. Open boot-patch.exe.
5. You'll have new_boot.img, flash this to boot partition using TWRP.
6. Flash Magisk you download at step 1
Caution: If bootloop happens, you may have to WIPE DATA.
7. Now you should have Magisk installed and working
If you can't patch the boot image file for some reasons, you can download here, choose the correct version, unzip and flash. If bootloop happens, wipe data in TWRP.

#3 Install GSI Roms
Our phone is arm32binder64, so we'll download A64 A/B GSI rom to flash. In github of @phhusson, there is a list of GSI roms: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-%28GSI%29-list
After you choose a rom, we'll follow these steps to flash a GSI rom:
1. Unzip the rom you choose and you'll have image file (.img)
2. Copy to your phone, Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_10.20.2019.zip to stay encrypted (optional, you can backup the /data but you can't setup password)
3. Make a factory reset and flash your unpacked image to system partition using TWRP or Orange Fox.
4. If you like Gapps, you can download Bitgapps or Opengapps (Arm) and flash (optional). But you must resize system partition first (advanced wipe -> repair or change file system -> resize system partition)
5. Flash Permissiver_v5.zip and Certification+Patch.zip
6. Go to Reboot and reboot to bootloader. Flash vbmeta using command:
Code:
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot reboot
Otherwise, you can flash vbmeta.img directly to vbmeta partition, no difference though.
7. Now your phone should be reboot.
After trying some GSI rom like Pixel, RR, Lineage OS, AOSP... There're some bug like:
- D2TW is present in phhusson setting but not working. Use Magisk module: magisk_force-d2tw.zip to fix
- Auto brightness
- Brightness Slider: Can be fixed using adb:
Code:
adb shell su -c setprop persist.sys.qcom-brightness $(cat /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/max_brightness)
or using Terminal:
Code:
su
setprop persist.sys.qcom-brightness $(cat /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/max_brightness)
- Camera Recording: You can use 3rd camera apps if bug occurs.
- When set password (pattern, etc...), next time you enter password, password will be wrong. (if you flash disable_dm... above), temp fix: boot to TWRP and remove some files in /data/system then reboot, password will be removed
Code:
locksettings.db-wal
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db
- Fix auto brightness, power consumtion... : copy treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi8a.apk to /system/overlay then set permission 644, reboot.
- No Mac, IP address? Install the correct boot image.
- Some rom specific bugs...
UPDATE: On Havoc OS 3.1 from ExpressLuke, all the bugs are fixed, if any still present, just follow instructions above.
That is. I don't know why our device development is so slow after 2 months... So i decided to write this post. My main language is Vietnamese so if there's a grammar error, feel free to comment below. Thanks.

Edit: was having problems at first and ended up in a bootloop but eventually got Magisk and Root working finally. Thanks a lot for your help!
Hello everyone, I send you my best regards.
I comment. -
I have a global 8th redmi (olivelite), I unlocked the bootloader and continued to install the unofficial TWRP, but there is a problem, my touch screen does not work.
That's why I tried Orangefox and the touch panel worked without problems, I could erase everything except the micro SD, and continued to install Mi Globe 11.0.7, the most recent.
But at the time of finishing and restarting, restart only in recovery, no more, again and again.
Try once installed the rom my globe, flash twrp and force start by fastboor reboot, but it didn't work either.
Also install by fastboot, boot.img of the rom eu, of the global and also the patched by magysk and it didn't work either.
I am NOT looking for root, I am NOT looking for magysk, just install rom MY GLOBE clean, as in all my xiaomis, then I ask.
Has anyone been able to install Xiaomi.eu successfully on your device? With orangefox what was your process? With TWRP and the OTG, do you think I can start?
I would greatly appreciate your response. ):

Yeah, the same as mine. I'm just waiting for a device specific rom so that we have a more stable rom, full-features, not miui. I hate the thing that after update i have to re-patch boot image to install magisk, if bootloop then wipe all. That's inconvenient.

Excellent, thanks for your reply.
Could you be a little more specific about the steps you took?
Formatting before installing the ROM, or after?
For example, I followed these steps.
Unlock the bootloader.
Fastboot, install the vbmeta first (or something like that).
install the Orange fox recovery, then the orangefox zip.
Clean EVERYTHING (dalvik cache, intertnal storage, etc), except SD.
Install MY GLobe ROm Olivelite.
Start in recovery, restart again, without changes, continue to start in recovery, and so, for eternity.
I did not do the formatting, and I do not use TWRP because the touch panel does not work with that, so I only have Orangefox as an alternative, could you try to install the MI Globe ROM please? https://mi-globe.com/miui-firmware-rom-builder-features/41/
Thanks for everything.

Backup everything on your phone.
From what I understand; if you flash an OTA zip you'll end up on MIUI without root or TWRP unless, whilst still in TWRP after the zip has flashed, you immediately flash TWRP's image again along with Magisk without rebooting even once so that both persist.
That's if TWRP let's you flash whatever file ends up in /sdcard/downloaded_rom to begin with. Flashing MIUI zips - typically only supported by OrangeFox if I remember correctly. And if I'm right MIUI updater will download the full rom instead of an OTA if it detects a custom recovery.
I'd advise backing up everything before going ahead. If you want OTA your best bet might be to go on your PC and do "fastboot boot twrp.img" instead of "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" then use the temporary TWRP to install the OTA zip and Magisk zip - that way it'll patch the stock bootloader.
I'd wait for someone with a little more knowledge though. I could be deathly wrong as I've only read this stuff and not updated MIUI with OTA before.

They're still trying to fix a few minor Q bugs like battery drain and camera app issues; on top of that the development for MIXM in particular has been a bit behind - probably due to Chinese new year and/or Coronavirus. Though it's possible the MIXM (or Global) branch is compiled outside China; truth be told I have no idea why the Q update has been handled so badly for this particular device channel. The Mi9T Pro's development has been seemingly 'paused' as of late for Global users.
Reminds me a lot of my Redmi 5 Plus. Development was paused for much of the product's lifespan and they never fixed certain bugs on the device; just merged MIUI branch changes. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to the Mi9T Pro. It is a flagship-esque device and barely six months old (August 2019).

I had to download the OTA zip someone sent here and ended up manually updating. Tap a few times on the 11 in the updater until a toast message pops up saying that you enabled additional options and then tap on 3 dots and select Choose update package and browse to the zip you downloaded and select it.
Honestly I have like since forever used custom ROMs on my phones and this time I wanted to have the "stock experience", but if they keep delaying updates like this I'll just switch to xiaomi.eu weekly builds.
Since 31st of January Xiaomi suspended temporarily all updates due to the Corona virus outbreak.
How do i flash ota file manually on non rooted phone?
1. Be sure you have the correct OTA file
2. Place the OTA file in a folder of the internal storage named "downloaded_rom".
3. Go to settings/about the phone/systemupdate and tick the 3 dots on the right top
4. Then tick "choose update package" with this text or similar and go to the folder where you copied the Ota file and choose that file
Then let the Ota file update do it's work and after reboot it is done.

The option "Choose update package" doesn't show up unless you tap the 11 in the Updater a few times, because manually installing a .zip is an advanced (duh) option.
Was assuming that people here would know.

Soft Bricked
yes, had a soft brick. phone was only booting in to fastboot. so used the "XiaoMiTool v2" and recovered the phone with MIUI 12.0.3.0 and then downloded the ota update 12.0.5.0 and then updated to it via manual update. now not thinking of doing it again for a while , don't want to get the device bricked again.

How did you get your phone bricked?
By installing this update?
If yes did you use the latest twrp 3.4.0.0?
Did you wipe data/system before doing this?
Please give more detail so other users doesn't brick their devices

TWRP - Latest = Yes
Wipe - data/system = Yes
1) adb reboot fastboot
2) fastboot flash recovery twrp3.4.0.0....
3) fastboot reboot
4) held volume+ n Power
5) TWRP came
6) advance wipe - dalvik cache/system/data/cache
7) back to main menue
8) install - select storage - OTG
9) taped on the zip, slide to flash..
Everything went well successful.
10) reboot system -- came to fastboot, repeated the same step still fastboot
Please correct me if I've done anything wrong, this is the usual step I did to flash V12.xxx earlier.
Used XiaoMiTool V2 and recovered to 12.0.3.0.. and OTA update to 12.0.5.0..

I think unlike previous iterations, we don't wipe system partition with these Roms as long as the vendor is same. (Means, If within MIUI Roms, no need. likewise with others such as AOSP)

If your boot-loader is unlocked and have twrp, just FORMAT DATA, cache & Dalvik and flash the A11 Weekly Rom. Clean installation means formatting DATA partition and setting up as new.
I'm on weekly 20.09.17 and will be flashing the latest A11 weekly end of the day after work.
Edit: When you format DATA, your internal storage too would be wiped. So Make sure you have a PC (To mount twrp and copy the file) or OTG to push the Rom file to internal storage after formatting data.
