can we use another rom instead of PixelExperience?

2 things:
1 - I seriously messed up my phone with that twrp. Although I was using a more recent version, I don't recommend it. Use redispade twrp instead
2 - You can and you should use another ROM. PE is dead. Just check vendor required and,if different from the one suggested by OP, flash it instead.

Of course, in the example I use this room and in phome is working with some minor bugs, but @elpaablo say that it's nor longer getting support. I recommend you use another room with active development and support

How to root the Homtom HT16

Hi there,
I recently got the Homtom HT16 for just 50 bucks. I've always rooted my phones with a one-click rooting app(kingoroot etc.), but it seems not to work. I did some reading and saw you need TWRP to root the device. Now there is no TWRP for the device, saw on xda there was for the HOMTOM HT7.
Anyone knows if I can use the TWRP for the HT7 or is there any other way to root my phone?
Sorry for late response. On Russian forum you may find way to install recovery with Flash tool, however that didn't worked for me. Their TWRP recovery is useful for rooting. This is 100% tested, I own HOMTOM HT 16.
1. Install adb-setup-1.4.3 to enable adb, fastboot and Google USB driver on computer..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wvsyab1iakpsswu/adb-setup-1.4.3.exe?dl=0
2.Settings-Developer optons Enable USB Debugging and Allow OEM unlocking
3.Put on sd card SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115 (this version worked for me).
https://www.dropbox.com/s/84xm1m7rxerg6kt/SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115.zip?dl=0
4. Turn off the phone, press Power and Volume up. You'll see new menu. Move with Volume up, choose Fastboot and press Volume down. Connect computer and phone with USB cable.
5. Find the directory where adb and fastboot are installed and position itself there . Hold Shift, right-click and choose Open command window here. ( If you are not the administrator, Windows 10 Start, Command Prompt (Admin) and position yourself in directory where fastboot is installed with cd command).
Copy TWRP recovery (recovery.img) in that folder.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t26oax8n96izp60/AACq00Cgo1iMFOWPAT8leRXZa?dl=0
5.Type and execute commands:
fastboot devices (check if device if recognized, you'll see the serial number)
fastboot oem unlock (press Volume up to unlock bootloader)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (install new recovery on phone)
6.Pull out battery, push it back . Hold Power and Volume up. You'll see new menu. Move with Volume up, select Recovery and press Volume down.
7. Don't make attention to blinking and bad performance of Recovery. Select Install, find SuperSu on sd card and install. If everything is ok, you will see notification that superuser is successfully installed.
8. Reboot phone and check with Root checker application root rights.
(optional) If you need restore factory recovery and remove Superuser, to keep warranty valid.

I downloaded the original fw from needrom, then I put back the original recovery.img, so now it's as original, but without root...
I don't know what is the problem, this procedure worked on my phone.
Look here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/twrp-mount-data-unable-to-crypto-footer-t3360331
**** my phone factory resseted it self
No matter what I do, my phone doesn't allow to be found when I make "fastboot devices".
Can someone that have rooted the phone please do a readback of the entire rooted rom and upload for me?
I'm facing a lot of problem installing the recovery , so if someone can please post a rooted rom it'll be useful ...
Edit : can someone backup his nvram partition? I lost my imei and with this phone any trick wont work...

Hi, for me the SuperSU from holocen (see above):
togeter with the TWRP image, flashtools v5 and the description from needrom worked for me (not every emailprovider can be used to create an account):
needrom.com/download/homtom-ht16-4/
Greetings Rikski
Solution found in here!!
Use TWRP for cyanogen after installing it with sp tools v5.
Put SuperSU v2.82 or above in the phone or sd memory card go to custom recovery and install the SuperSU v2.82.zip file. Reboot and that's it. It works like a charm. :good:
7. Don't make attention to blinking and bad performance of Recovery. Select Install, find SuperSu on sd card and install. If everything is ok, you will see notification that superuser is successfully installed.
How long does blinking take usually? It blinks all the time, I can't select Install ?!
This phone has now nearly 30 ROMs on needrom.com
Plus a non blinking custom TWRP recovery, go check it out:
needrom.com->Doogee->Homtom->ht16
I tryed to follow the guide of holocen (also used much of external information) but right now i'm stuck in a bootloop.
First of all i needed hours of reading and troubleshooting to get my adb "cmd" working proberly with the "bootloader mode" (cause of a driver problem).
After i was successful ("fastboot devices. fastboot oem bootloader) , i tryed serveral twrp recovery *.img's (officials first, holocen's later on), but i can't get the ht16 out of bootloop. Recovery flashing seems to be successfull though.
If i try "volume up + power" and start up the recovery manually, i got the twrp splashscreen, followed by a huge chunk of red "unable to mount xyz..." with a following bootloop (there are only seconds to see whats happening, an then the "HomTom" splashscreen reappears). I tryed "fastboot erase userdata" with no help. Was insecure about the "fastboot erase system" command though.
Maybe some of you guys are eager to help. I really tryed to read up as much information i could about this topic. I thank you in advance.
Target was to root the phone and to install some kind of lightwight custom rom (just to get rid of those frikk'n "trojans, bloatware-viruses, marketing horrors" which are messing with the stock rom. Hopefully everybodys know right now what i'm talking about).
I try to respond quickly, but i can't garuentee.
Thank you very much for reading.
Best regards

I've tried erecovery and it's signed into my Google account but no word of a lie it won't let me sign out or erase the device also the twrp was the preditorian edition j think it's on one of the Huawei P20 lite threads also if you think you could help could you email me at [email protected]
tried using the erecovery to download and install original firmware?
One way is to try to recover your device using E-Recovery and download the ROM within E-Recovery itself(it will be autoflashed). But e-recovery might fail to download the ROM if your kernel has been changed. In my case, it has failed even though kernel was default kernel. E-Recovery might fail to download if you completely wiped out all partitions. If you completely wiped out all partitions you will find hard time to get back 1 particular partition back i.e. HiSuite package Partition(though you can download from internet), unless you have taken a full nandroid backup or just backup of that partition using twrp.
Now if the above method doesn't work,
The other way to recover is to first download the dload version of the ROM(the links have been provided in another post belonging to P20 lite thread). Instead of 3 files(used in Hurupdated method from Firmware Finder site and app), these links will give you just 2 files. Open them and just extract the *.APP files only. Rename both the files into UPDATE.APP. APP should be in capital letters only if not, just make it in uppercase by yourself. The update.zip will give you some UPDATE.APP which will be around 4 GB and the other one around 1-1.2 GB. The only method by which this will work is to use external SD card. Now if the UPDATE.APP is more than 4 GB then format the ext sd card in NTFS or ex-FAT format. If you dont have sd card adapter then use "AParted" app from play store to do the job. Now copy the first APP file. Keep pressing power and vol up and down buttons together(after switching off your device) till you get the bootloader unlocked warning screen. Now your phone will automatically flash the file and reboot. The process might take around 5-10 mins.
After flashing, your phone will boot successfully. In some cases after flashing, you will get a warning that some serious problems have occurred(but after a successful flashing). It will ask you to completely wipe the device. Just wipe it and then it will reboot just like a new phone asking you to sign for gmail details etc etc(you can skip them if you want). But still flashing is not complete. Now you need to repeat the process with the smaller APP file(after renaming it to UPDATE.APP), but now no need to wipe the device.
Voila!! Your phone is in a working condition now. But bootloader will be locked again. But you can unlock it again by enabling OEM unlock settings and then under fastboot(which again will factory reset your device) and use Magisk for your enjoyment.
In case you are not getting the dload version of the ROM of the desired variant( i.e. C432 or C675 or whichever you want), there is one paid site to get that. Google "easy-firmware" for that. Huawei P20 lite dload ROMs are available in that site. You might have to pay 15 $ for 40 GB downloads from that site. In case you dont want to pay, then you just need extra high speed data because you have to download a lot of files. So if your ROM is not available for download and you have to use a different variant ROM then after flashing with the different variant ROM and unlocking the bootloader, use HwOTA to rebrand your phone to the correct variant and then use Hurupdate to flash the final ROM(this time you have to download the 3 zip files from Firmware Finder and rename according to the tutorial).
I hope this helps you out from the doldrums

Hi, I would like to update to the latest xiaomi.eu (android q), I currently installed the TWRP (LR team 3.3.0-0523), I would go to Mauro's .41 ... I would not run into bootloop and brick problems (reading there are several cases) .. using this tool, can I feel comfortable? or is it better to proceed via fastboot? grazie mille
I would like to know, how to use this tool to flash device. Should I boot the device in fastboot mode, then connect the tool to flash it?

You can connect the device powered on on in fastboot mode, the important thing is that debug usb is enabled. The tool will eventually tell you that the mode is not good for what you want to do

I did everything and connected to the tool looks everything is fine, after it I flash factory images, the pop out other screen to input the ROM, then click flash ROM then nothing happen. No respond at all..
I am planning to flash TWRP on my Mi 8 but I get a warning message saying if I don't root afterwards, my device will be bricked. Is this holding true? I want to keep my stock ROM and no root.
This tool is stale and not working anymore.

did you got it to work again? I got the exact same problem
Just bought a US version XT2010-1. Stock ROM Android 9 with newest security updates (just downloaded all of them). Build PPHS29.59-49-8. I unlocked the bootloader already
Can anyone confirm this process works and all phone functions will work (cell and WiFi) if I follow all the instructions as written?
To clarify, this is a brand new phone with stock firmware. The only changes I made were updating security patches and unlocking the bootloader. Haven't even set up Google account on phone yet.
Thanks

Did you get your phone to work with this method? I have a brand new phone want to root it but don't want to F it up.
If you have problems with WiFi and mobile network after downloading to TWRP, install boot.img of stock firmware and then install TWRP-installer.
But there shouldn't actually be any such problems.
TWRP should fit all models.
TWRP isn't installed, it's loaded.

Thanks. I'm going to give it a shot.
Sort of a noob. I've rooted 2 phones before but used a pre-made script on one and used TWRP on my Moto G4 with a custom ROM.
Where do I get stock boot.img if I need i?. I saw multiple posts on different forums about "extract the boot.img" but I don't know where to extract it from. Sorry to bother you. Thanks for your work on this.

From the archive of the stock firmware. The same firmware version that is currently installed on your phone.
Worked!
Followed all the instructions as written and BAM! I have TWRP recovery and rooted phone.
You da man. Thanks!!!
Finally the TWRP website has an official Recovery Page for Motorola One Zoom! https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolaonezoom.html
Hopefully soon we will see TWRP itself.
There is an official TWRP !!!

Question [HELP] Back to original ROM

Fist let me thank you for helped me successfully rooted this phone before https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/what-is-the-easiest-and-safest-way-to-root-redmi-note-10.4359843
But now some of my bank applications just refuse to run and magisk hide doesn't help and my first objective to root is not needed anymore plus some more inconvenient things from bugs now I want to go back to official MIUI ROM how can i do that?
There are plenty of guides show how to Install the custom ROM but i can't find one about go back the original.
Unlike the last time now i known the basic of recovery, flash, fastboot etc
But i still don't know how to "Completely" go back to the original MIUI ROM but also want to keep the OrageFox recovery just the ROM.
Can i just download the MIUI ROM from here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/mojito/stable/V12.5.4.0.RKGMIXM/ and flash the .zip file normally? But what about Recovery/Fastboot type? The fastboot type is twice as big as the recovery type but it's not the zip format guess i don't need that and stick to recovery/zip format right?
And what is Frimware https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/mojito/stable/V12.5.5.0.RKGMIXM/ do i also need to flash this too?
I'm currently on OrangeFox recovery and Sakura ROM (https://projectsakura.xyz/download.html)
Thank you.
You can't flash recovery miui with twrp/orangefox... in order to reinstall the Stock ROM you must flash the Fastboot ROM through MiFlash Tool... Firmware is not needed.
1- Download this MiFlash version : MiFlash 20210226
2- Download the v12.5.4 Fastboot ROM from Xiaomi Firmware Updater and unzip it
3- Install Drivers if needed
4- Select "Clean All" as you don't want to lock the bootloader to keep OrangeFox and start flashing
5- Wait for MIUI Boot
6- Reboot to Fastboot and flash PE Recovery or boot TWRP
7- Flash OrangeFox Zip
8- Done , you have Stock MIUI with OrangeFox
i hope this can help you , Cheers

you must unzip the .tgz file and write the path to the ROM into the bar above... example : Desktop/RN10/mojito_global_12.5.4.....
Note : Don't use Clean all and lock otherwise your bootloader will be locked and you will have to unlock it again in order to flash another custom recovery

Now i'm just curios if this flash tool also clean my root folder or not since my root folder kinda mess from my trial and errors and it take up quite amount of disk space and my phone storage show as 29.1GB/128GB after clean flashed. But its not a big problem i can live with it.

Yes , MiFlash clean everything... can u kindly share screenshot from About Phone > Storage? 29.1GB seems too much space for a fresh MIUI installation ...
