[GUIDE][UPDATED]Kali NetHunter on Mi 9T Pro / K20 Pro (wlan0 monitor mode working!) - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Guides, News, & D

Introduction:
You can read on your own in the official site: https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-nethunter/
Basically, this installation allows you to run the official Kali Linux, a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing, over Android. It should work fine also for Xiaomi Mi9T/Redmi K20 as well as for any other Android devices, but I share it for our device because I've tested it before and I would like to guide you through some device specific(I believe) issues I faced during the process...
Disclaimer:
Before we start, I would like you to know that if you follow my guide, you get yourself in the risk of possibly bricking your device, so I'm not responsible for any bad consequences... Proceed at your own risk!
BEFORE EVERYTHING:
INSTALL BUSYBOX (magisk repository is recommended)
Process:
1. Install nethunter app & nethunter terminal app from Nethunter App Store.
2. Open nethunter app and navigate to Kali Chroot Manager.
3. Install latest chroot (minimal or full).
4. When the installation is finished, click start chroot.
5. After that, DO NOT choose to install Kali Metapackages and close the app!
6. After, open Nethunter Terminal and choose "Kali"
7. Now, type in the commands:
a) apt-get update
b) apt-get updgrade
c) apt-get dist-upgrade
8. Done! Enjoy some Pen-Testing!!!
Notes:
1) MONITOR MODE WORKING FOR THE INTERNAL WI-FI CARD for stock MIUI kernel and any other kernels you can achieve it by testing,
BUT PACKET INJECTION ISN'T WORKING!!!
(check custom commands)
2) HID attacks are working but you should first change the device USB function to "hid", through the Nethunter app, on USB Arsenal section.
3) As for EXTERNAL WI-FI ADAPTERS support, a custom kernel is required specifically for that purpose.
(Take a look at this thread) or you can join a maintainer's telegram group who's making one: https://t.me/onett_boots

Anyway, solve the issue using stericson busybox instead of the one available as magisk module.
Btw, did you get a chance to use a wlan external dongle ? Seems I can't get those to work

Me neither... I suppose a custom kernel that supports monitor mode for Kali Linux must be built... As I am not the kernel developer, someone else will have to build it... I hope we figure this out!

Also, when I try to activate a module, it says cannot write to /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/modules.list

Yo. Xposed is pretty unstable at zenfone 5. At least for me I can't run the greenify module and didn't tried the amplify but the greenify keeps rebooting the phone and so...Now I only use greenify @ root and it's fine. And I removed the xposed

Xposed is not at all unstable. The only issue ZenFones ever had with Xposed was the installation bit, and that's why we have this tool. I haven't used Greenify so I can't write anything about it but so far I have had no issues with Xposed framework.

Installation was fine. Greenify can run and how it works. Other modules for xposed well. I have a problem that applications that are not part of xposed causes the system rebooted. For example, e-mail, weather, 2SD card, and many more. I was very much looking forward to xposed. But for restart other applications we have to uninstall it.

It might be possible that Greenify is causing all your problems. So what I suggest is a clean Xposed Install. And not use Greenify, at least for now. It sure is worth a try.
Xposed installs normally on my ASUS ZenFone 5 (A501CG) without this thing. No bootloops, no problems, nothing. Everything just works fine.

quite interesting post, totally run into this thread by accident.
having lenovo TabS-50F, which comes with Intel processor. Checking some users who has the same tablet, many did report that normal xposed worked fine, but some got issue with random reboot...i wonder if this is related to using normal xposed installer..

I think it depends more on the modules. If you use normal install xposed you will soft brick your zenphone ( not 100% sure but pretty sure).

WIth the Stock ROM you won't be able to use all the functionalities provided by GravityBox however universal modules will work. If you want to use Xposed to it's fullest I suggest that you flash this AOSP ROM.

Thanks! Added to the index. I will try this out myself. I suggest putting "[GUIDE]" at the beginning of the thread title so people know this is a guide and not a question.
If there could be a thread for installing Viper, or maybe somehow shoehorn it in here making this a CyanogenMod modding guide thread for our phone, that'd be awesome!

Several members wanted one hand setting back. Anyone tried that module? I am sure they would appreciate it. And gloves mode. I know there are modules for both.

That's Huawei's term for high sensitivity mode. So phone works well with gloves etc.
It was part of CM but I think it got removed. Never used it myself. Even though I now live in Ohio. Lol. Guess it's handy. Maybe for work gloves for people. Dunno.

I'm in NY so during the winter it gets pretty brutal. Glove mode works wonders, but if your gloves are too bulky you'll still need to take them off for accurate taps.

[N950U] ROM customization

[N950U] ROM customization
As Title suggest this thread is to look possibilities of ROM development for N950U (snapdragon)
As we know N950U have locked bootloader and no custom recovery but still we can try for similar changes to ROM which offers for exynos variant
I don't own this device so can't test anything myself, If you guys ready to test we can move on to ROM customization further
Starting from basic need of customization, we need Busybox
Here a application N950U Busybox. Try it and report back.
How to test
Requirements :
- N950U with root access
Install :
- Download and Install attached N950U_Busybox_1.0.apk as regular apk
- Open from drawer - Grant SU
- Check for Busybox status
- If you don't have busybox installed, you will see - Long press to install busybox as status
- Long press there and wait till toast notification appear (usually take 30-40 sec) "busybox installed Reboot device"
- Reboot device and again open app and see if Busybox showing installed
Busybox installed, ready to test.

As a heads up to you. The snapdragon model can do most modifications that do not touch the boot.img. Some things like xposed do not work though. Something to do with the way it calls the libraries.

I was thinking that same thing! As long as we use a firmware thats before the patch issued by Samsung then we should be able to use the same method used in SamFail to flash modified system images.
Hi guys, stumbled across this thread looking for something else. Every mod i have tried has been successful on the Snapdragon variants, I have an app in the T-Mobile section that adds audio mods, 3minit mods, clock positions, bixby reassign, navbar color. Im not sure on whether Flashfire is an option as i never went down that road, i simply have rom control running scripts to place modified files.

AOSP 9.0 GSI October security - A and AB Arm and Arm64 Legacy - No Modifications

I compiled the GSI overnight, its aosp_arm64_a Legacy GSI, because the ones I keep downloading are all August security patch and I wanted it a little more up to date. I got the source directly from google and built it myself. AB is now uploaded as aosp_arm64_ab. A only is also up as aosp_arm64_a-aosp. I ran it on my One Plus 5, NFC was buggy but the camera, ril, Bluetooth, wifi, and everything I tried out worked. this is vanilla, so its bare bones. no apps besides the basics, no mods or any customizing. As this is a GSI it should be useable on many devices, I can only help you with the devices that I own, pixel XL and one plus 5. If you have a device other then that, you will have to find help from someone knowledgeable about that device. I have had success using twrp and fastboot to flash the system image. I was told doing it via fastboot is the best, so you can disable verified boot, then flash, then format all in one shot. My device did not require me to disable the verify boot. From my end it was literally as simple as 3 commands via fastboot and then restart the device and I was in. I flashed a 50mb gapps package from xda here, and magisk. took some photos, connected my Bluetooth speaker, made a call. sent some texts, installed a few apps. I will be staying on stock. But only because my device has stock pie, and the theming from one plus far trumps google.

It's very fast. install and boot was very fast. but I just discovered my home button does not work. however I don't assume that would be a difficult fix. the back and pages button are working. its very bare tho, you need to install everything you want manually. Which I prefer, it gives me more control over my phone I find. Hydrogen works ok too, it just requires a bit of work to get play store going and remove all the bloatware. GSI camera worked fine from boot.

It shouldn't. But its twrp. Weird things happen. Use fastboot. Its only 3 or 4 steps. The tutorial is on the google gsi website. I tried via twrp and had no issues however. It started to launch then rebooted, second boot it loaded OK
