QC 3.0;Need help and advise please - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello xda, previously I was on xiaomieu fw 10.3.8, ever since after updating to miui 11,my phone is not charging normally as it would, there is no more QC indicator on the notification bar, also no more fast charging shown on the lock screen.
I've send it to some shops, and were told it could be the charging board, but even after exchanging with another spare part, also the same.
Same goes for FCB.
So I went to an authorised xiaomi service center and they just simply told me it was motherboard issue and to fix it, it will cost me almost the same to purchase a new unit of Poco F1.
but here's the funny part, despite no quick charging or FASTBOOT mode not detected by Pc, if i use a PD rated delivery charger, it will show CHARGING TURBO on the lock screen and the qc icon will be back.
can anyone advise me is this a hardware or software problem. i hope is a software as my warranty is just a few weeks away over and Im trying to talk to xiaomi about reconsidering because my phone was faulty while I was in Japan and there isnt a authorised shop to fix it at that time.
thanks!

I've said it so many times and I still keep reading these posts Please order a USB charger doctor or so. These things are a couple of Euro or Dollar and you don't start guessing and spending more time.
Invest, measure and know.

fyi, when I tried my stock charger, stock cables with phone of other brands, quick charge is functioning. I've also tried sending it to a shop to check on the usb charging board. everything is fine.

My friend had same problem.. QC did not work.. just go to service center ask them to make your phone work
. They can't, so they will give you a new device.. i dont think they will ask you to pay because it's internal problem.. my friend got a new device :good:

[Q] Phone Wont Turn On/Charge - Not Bricked

Hi Everyone,
After doing a deep search i did not find the exact problem I have.
Specs:
Phone: SGS2 i9100
ROM: CM10 Nightly 08.09.2012
Kernal: CM Stock
You can see the symptoms of my problem in the video I found below (it wont allow me to paste link with less than 10 posts so i shortened the URL)
youtube.com/watch?v=BCyp1iCTW2M
This is what happened:
1. I had an Adapter from Car Outlet to USB so i connected my phone using it but it seemed they did not like each other.
The phone was stuck on a black screen so I restarted it and noticed I lost 40% battery in those few minutes, looking at BBS i saw the RIL wakelock so decided its just a coincidence and i'll let the battery drain all the way to calibrate it at night (the phone worked perfectly fine)
2. After the battery was fully drained I connected it to the PC to charge and turned it on and everything was fine, noticed it was at 0% so after a few minutes it turned off, after doing it a couple of times i let the phone charge "turned off" (thought maybe its low voltage of PC charge) through the whole night
3. at morning it did not charge at all, I managed to "almost" turn the device on but now the battery is really drained so i cant even do that
4. when i tried going into download mode (just to see if my phone is OK) i managed, when i am trying now i get "Battey is to low, cannot download"
5. I cant get into recovery mode, but i tried it after all the process above so its probably because of low battery
6. I tried it on 2 diffrent batteries (unfortunately my old one was also drained before)
- Anker 1900
- Original Samsung 1650
I am going to get an AC charged and try using it.
Any Ideas what should i do or what the problem is ?
Thanks in advance!

This is the way to go. First make absolutely sure the battery is charged, if possible by testing it in another device. With a fully charged battery it should be possible to find out if your phones hardware is still fine, especially the charging board.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
So far i got an AC charger for the phone (not a battery only cradle charger kind of thing) but getting the same problem.. it just wont charge the battery through the phone..
I'll try to get a fully charged battery to give feedback that the phone is fine and not bricked in any way as i mentioned before.
If everything is fine i'll see that the battery is chargeable when not completely dry and we'll be smarter after that.
in case it really became unchargeable and it is a problem in the charging board as you mentioned
Could you please expand on the functionality of the charging board ? and whats the process for fixing/replacing it ?
Thanks in advance!

Excellent! If it is not bricked then chances are good that it is 'only' a battery/charging problem.

If, in the end, the phone does not charge by the USB connector (no matter if from PC or wall plug) then it could be worth to replace the flex print with the USB connector and parts of the charging electronics. This flex print is quite cheap and you can get it from ebay. With the help of some video from youtube you should be able to replace it yourself
Well,
I have an update on the issue.. unfortunately can't say its a good one..
I've tried turning on the device with a diffrent battery (charged) and it workes perfectely fine.
since I live far i didnt want to wait a month till i get the USB flex from ebay i went to a repair lab and let the test the phone.
Unfortunately it is not the USB Flex but a deeper problem,
apparently the u500,u501,u504 parts got fried on the MB and they don't have them at all.
I am going to try to restore my phone (using a full battery) to the way i bought it and try go to the store and work the warranty (it voids as soon as i changed ROM), going to have to read a lot on how to do it perfectly and erasing traces of changes (go an old nand and need to unroot afterwards)
do u know a good guide for restoring the phone to full stock ?
Also,
is it possible to buy a complete MotherBoard for the GS2 or its not worth it ?
Thanks for the help!

There are quite a few guides around here that deal with unrooting and getting the device ready for official service. Personally I just make sure the flash counter is reset (TriangleAway or JIG) and then flash a stock firmware.

You might find one on ebay but I think replacing the MBO is not that easy, even though never did it myself.

I had the device opened several times. Replacing the MBO should not be too difficult. There are only some screws and connectors.

If the warranty wont work than I saw its around 150$ but if that will solve it it might be worth it instead of buying a new phone.
Thanks Again!
They are a lot more than that unless you are in USA/Canada.Theres a firm on eBay that give you $30-$50 for your old board, and they sell theirs for around $180.
Samsung would be around $250...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
So.. After a long time (!!) I have an update.
No lab fixed my phone as everyone said its "unfixable" or need to replace some parts that they don't have... so I did what I planned to do.
I took a full battery from a friend
Restored the phone to full stock (the same official "partner" ROM I got the phone when bought it (even putted Android 2.3 on it LOL)
formatted my SD card , and of course did a "Triangle Away" to reset the flash counter
basically returned the phone to the way i bought it..
Since I still had around 2 month on the warranty I went to the store i bought the phone from and they accepted the phone based on warranty, as i didn't install any ROM's (LOL )
Only TODAY after more than a month and a half of wait, while it was at their official lab, after that was sent abroad to the Vendor itself, after nobody was able to fix it I got a new phone (14 days used phone) so, considering i was ready to throw my phone and by a new one it turned out OK.
since no one was able to fix it, it was probably a major problem.
Of course its better i got a new one, since even if they fixed the issue, who know what else it might effected so its a very good result.
Don't know if this helps anyone a lot, but at least its some closure to the thread.
Thanks for everyone who helped here!

[Q] SGS2 dead after freeze

Hi,
today my I9100 froze while in the browser. It didn't respond to any touch or button activity. So I removed the battery and reinserted it, but the phone didn't boot up. There was nothing, a black screen, no matter which buttons I pressed.
I tried the Download Mode, Pushing the Volume-Up/Down while plugging in the USB cable. The battery is fine, I tested it on another phone.
The phone was rooted with cm-10.1-20130606-NIGHTLY-i9100. It does not matter if a SIM is placed or not, still no response from the phone.
One odd thing tough: The phone gets warm in the right corner, near the flashlight when the battery is inserted for a while.
Can I do something or is it dead?
Replace motherboard; service centre - new motherboard (most expensive option), source 2nd hand motherboard from 'donor' phone (with a broken screen, etc; search online) & either replace it yourself or pay a local mobile repair shop to do it (cheaper option).
And if your warranty is good, you could always take it to a service centre & play dumb (obviously they're under no obligation to repair or replace it under warranty tho given you've voided it).
Herbert Heaheye
Wouldn't it be have to repaired in order to determine if a custom ROM was used? The phone is not showing any reaction at all, so I guess the only way finding out is reading the flash chip itself, is that possible or is this the normal case?
Anyway I purchased a USB JIG, just to be sure before I give it into repairs.
They might be able to tell. You might get warranty service. These things are never guaranteed either way. Take it to a service centre & find out.
Edit - Jig has 0.00000001% chance of working, but try it anyways. Heat around camera & no life = dead components on MB.
Similar or probably the same issue

My phone is a I9100, rooted, running CM 10.1 Nightly (I don't remember which exact version but definitely not the latest nightly). My phone was in my backpack along with my laptop. When I tried to use it, it remained unresponsive so I turned it off by holding the power button and then turned it on again. It showed the "Samsung Galaxy SII" boot logo and was stuck.
So I pulled the battery out, waited for about 15 secs, put the battery back in and turned it on - no reaction. The phone won't turn on, my computer doesn't detect, not charging. The service center says that my Mobo needs to be replaced.
I have ordered an USB Jig but I'm not sure if it will work. Did you try the Jig? Did it work?
My phone does get heated up near the rear camera even before it died. So not sure if it really is a fried mobo and bootloader failure.
If a service centre has told you its a dead MB, a jig ain't working. Save your time & have it repaired now.

He could maybe try the jig 6 times a day for 6 months to see.
He either didnt read your earlier post or doesnt want to accept reality.

[Q] s2 not charging and OTG not work. URGENT help neeeded

Hello. I just bought a s2 i777 unlocked from eBay and i have been having charging issues:
when i unboxed the phone there was no battery juice available and would not turn on. I connected the phone to the default charger(ETAOU10EBE) that came with it and let it charge for 30 minutes and powered it up and then let it charge. i was not home when it was charging...so when i got back 3 hours later it had stopped charging at 74%.
I also noticed it detected the AC charger as USB PLUGGED. I used my nexus 7 adapter and after more than 5 hours it reached 100%. the next day i rooted the phone by flashing siyah kernel and flashed shostock3 4.0( it was on stock 4.0.3 before flash). here i noticed that with any adapter or cable i use the phone takes a lot of time to charge and does not get past 70%.
The phone showed it was charging but actually it was discharging. i powered off the phone to charge it but after sometime when i turned it on to see if it charged the battery the battery has lost all its charge in less than 15 minutes while the phone being off. I searched about this problem on the internet and some people are saying it might be a faulty battery or DAMAGED USB FLEX CABLE. OTG is not working also. i can use my usbdrive on my nexus 7 correctly but it does not detect on the s2. I am thinking the problem is with the USB FLEX itself.
OTG worked before i flased shostock3....
i also reflashed a rooted stock 4.0.3..but that did not solve any problem..so i flashed shostock again. i even flashed pure stock i777 jb 4.1.2...it booted the first time but as soon as i plugged a usb cable to pc or ac it turned off and kept on showing flashing charging battery...so flashed siyah kernel again via ODIN and restored a shostock nandroid backup. And now the phone do not get charged at all and OTG also does not detect,
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
i would gladly ship it back to the ebay seller for another one but shipping is high.
UPDATE: The problem was solved by replacing a USB FLEX CABLE...

Well yes, but if you can do that, it may be the most inexpensive way. One other possibility is that you have a bad USB port in the phone. You can replace that yourself, but you will probably pay as much for the replacement part, and then there is no guarantee it will correct the problem. I have seen several people post that they tried to replace the USB port but that it was not successful. Sending it to a reputable repair shop is also probably not practical or cost effective. So I say, get a working phone from the seller if you can.

creepy's probably right (a usual occurrence), but it could also be as simple as a bad battery. Buying things like this second hand can sometimes give you trouble like you're having, because you don't know what's really OEM or some shoddy off-brand. Another option for you would be to get a cheap battery that's been confirmed to work perfectly on the i777.
Several of us are using this $5 battery from Ebay; it isn't 22000 mah like it promotes (it's more in line with the 1650 that shipped with the phone), but I'm using it right now and have never had any issues. If you want to read further about those of us who've used it, read this thread starting from here.

The seller described the phone as new....it looked new to me when it arrived but it had screen protector perfectly aligned on it...i had the charging issue since day 1. I thought that the battery was new and needed to be broken in...hence the long charging time. The seller refunded me the $9.98 i asked for the defected AC charger supplied(it showed up as usb plugged in any device).
I already contacted the seller several times and after i got his/her approval i left the device at a repair shop for verification of the charging issue....will see how it turns out....i cant buy another battery as it takes more than 30 days for items to arrive here in mauritius...i asked a friend to lend me his s2 battery... Still no sign of him...lol
The local repair shop is taking around $35 to change the usb flex and other short-circuited parts....did you guys had any problem with your usb flex???

I had a problem with the usb flex, I bought two of them on amazon or ebay (I can't remember), did the replace my self and my phone is back on business
4.0.3 has the brick bug, don't perform a factory reset if you're on stock kernel.
I don't believe that bug is causing the issues

redmi note 3 charging fix
I too had the same problem and I tried flashing in fastboot and other things stated in internet. But I replaced charging port newly purchasing online. If your mobile is still in warranty period fix it in service center or replace it yourself. Check YouTube for how to replace charging port. You can buy charging port from eBay or Amazon or any other desired site. Check your phone has 24 or 30 pin in charging port board of your phone. Because Redmi has two variant. If you have any doubt just google it.

I don't think it's ROM or kernel,
I have the same issue.
It doesn't charge even in power OFF mode, and also with the STOCK ROM.
I changed the charger/cable. doesn't work.
I use an app called 'ampere' and it's saying the phone is discharging. but the cable is plugged.
probably it's the charging socket.

Had the same problem & solved it
Hi,
I had the same problem - when connecting the charger (any charger/laptop etc I tried) the phone started charging, then stopped and started charging randomly.
What I did: Open the phone, brushed the USB board, took dusk and dirt out of the USB port, and it works like a charm again.
I used this instruction video and followed the steps exactly, apart from taking out the USB board which isn't necessary if you only clean it. You will need some tools (most importantly a small screwdriver and an (old, used) toothbrush.
I'm a new user so I cannot post the link. Search on youtube for the video with the title: How to Replace Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Note 4 , Redmi 4A , Redmi 4 and Redmi 3s Carging port ( Pin )
Good luck.
I have solved this problem
Turn on USB debugging from developer mode then put your phone on charging for 1 full night in switched off mode ...
It will charge normally
.
.
.
Tell us if its work for u ... your feedback will help others
its work for me after researching for 3 days
If you guys are using fast charge or QC chargers with custom kernel, Sorry to say that charging and discharging randomly is because of that. You are gonna destroy zener diode which stabilize current passing thru it. If input current suppress 5V it will burn your zener and your device will completely stop charging. (Only working aftermath way is removing burnt diode)
I highly recommend you guys to stick with stock chargers. Or use kernel that limits its current to 2100mA (approx) (Agni kernel has it) to avoid damage to zener diode.
P.S:- Once you replace your USB board, I am pretty sure that you will face some serious network issue like most of users (those changed board) are facing.

Question Interesting Development of my Galaxy A52 5G

So a few days ago, when I got up in the morning for work. I noticed my phone was off, even though I leave it on the charger turned on.. Turned it on, and got a message , the phone was powered off because it detected it was overheating.. Weird? While coming home from work, I had it plugged into my car charger and it seemed fine.. Was up to 69% once it was unplugged, it went down to 49% in 10 minutes.. Put the phone back on the charger in the house, and after a couple of minutes it powered off again.. That same evening went to use a different charger from the wifes Samsung work phone.. The phone would not charge, but would charge hers.. I tried a different charge block and her power cord.. it would show for the phone to reach 100% from 61% 3+ hrs. A couple of seconds later it was not charging.
Ok, tried a different charging cord, and my wife's charging block.. Time to reach 100% 14 hr 57 min..So today I took it to a Samsung repair center not far from my home.. They told me, the phone would not connect to their computer so they could diagnose it.. it was charging fine, so the told me the main board was bad.. They are ording one and will install it next Tue. I never had a issue with my other Samsung phones overheating, or needed to have the main board replaced..
I will say this.. Best Buy is suppose to be a Certified Samsung repair center.. But what I found out, they only service their Flagship phones.. I asked Samsung directly. when I called them first about the overheating issue, before bringing it into them.. Best Buy does not have all the tools to fix all their phones. But they do have all the tools to fix all their flagship phones???????? I find that odd for sure.
I purchase this phone, because it suits my needs.. I have always have flagship phones, but they are not needed for me at this time.. I'm was so pissed about this issue, and first getting alot of running around from different sources about this issue. I was almost ready to trash the Samsung and android all together and go Iphone..
Best Buy is a certified Samsung repair center. It is posted on their website. They just seem to do their high end phones. They also are listed as which devices they fix. Which is Samsung latest flagship phones S9+ and up.
I brought my phone to a actual Samsung repair center. The new board for my phone will be in next Tuesday.
When I started to read this I was constantly thinking this is a battery issue because its charging is so erratic. Now I wouldn't normally question the repair centre but I'm not certain how the main board would cause this. You mention charging a lot but not if the device can be powered on or used. If it can then theres no way there is a main board issue. Virtually all Samsungs have a secondary board which handles power and since your issues seemed power related, I would have thought that would have been culprit number 1. Anyway, I hope they informed you about data loss? The mainboard contains the storage and if they say it won't connect to their computer and you can't power it on for a cloud back up then you will lose all data.

The phone powers on and off just fine.. I purchased a new charger as I had mentioned I think my other one was overheating because of heavy use.. They said the main board and charging port will be changed. The main board because it will not connect to Samsung's computers fo they could diagnose the issue.. I'm not worried about losing any data, as all my stuff is backed up...
