Once the phone is paid off, sprint will give you an unlock code.
As far as root goes, the US versions of Samsung phones will not be rootable.

( take a look below. it even has a antenna that you can pull out! FOR WHAT?! lol)

anyways apparently it is. (video)

i did my research with the phones model number and all. so it seems plretty legit. the installed rom does come with korean and english language option of choosing. i was wondering i can root this device the same way you would root a regular samsung galaxy s ii, install custom recovery, flash OTA Rom or custom, etc. what we androidians mostly do with our devices. forgot to mention that it is a cdma phone and if it is possible to unlock to use here in the u.s.
if anyone could shed some light on my current situation, i would highly appreciate it. thanks in advance.
Don't do it.
Apparently, LG U+ SGS2's have some kind of special rom that is difficult to find. I have been living in Korea for a while and happened to get one of these. I'm sure one of the XDA hackers will eventually get around to giving us a good root solution, but until then we are rootless.
BTW - the antenna is for DMB reception. I'm pretty sure the DMB signal is only in Korea though...Maybe in a few years someone will start tinkering with it and get normal TV somehow.

*#7465625# dosent work

i try to check if my s3 is locked or not i put the *#7465625# but nothing shows up , is there is another way to know if its locked or not
Why would it be unlocked?

Put a different SIM card and if ask for network lock that means it's not unlock

The code works on my international (european) S3. Result: not locked
Perhaps you mistyped it?
*#7465625#
My cell is the SGH-I747M (Rogers Wireless) and the code doesn't work on my phone either.
Some of you need to some reading. Why would it be unlocked if you pay discounted price with year agreement? Think about it.

Code itself does not work but market apps like sgs secret code can access it.
Mine says unlocked all and don't have bell or Telus card to test. It's unlocked with Fido, but then again all Rogers samsung phones are working with Fido. So only way to know for sure is to test with bell or Telus card. This screen might not even be used for this particular locking method if they have it.

code works for me.

I received the unlock code from T-Mobile and unlocked my phone. I tested it by making calls with an AT&T Sim Card and my screen is identical to the screen above. It doesn't say on or off. And my phone is definitely unlocked!!!

Anyone get LTE working AT&T/tmobile

Just got my Tmobile variant unlocked and using on AT&T. Only getting 4G. I've seen users having the same issue. Has anyone got LTE working? I've tried numerous APN's from AT&T as well as other suggestions and still nothing. Thanks in advance for any help.
Yes I have lte working on cricket(att). I have attached some screen shots.

I have a T-Mobile phone as well, and I had a more complicated problem getting mine to work. First thing's first - make sure you have your phone properly activated at an AT&T retail store, which is to say you can't have hotswapped the SIM; it needs to be tied to your IMEI. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're using the nxtgenphone APN. If you still have no luck, maybe you have the same problem as me. On AT&T's end, for some bizarre reason, my IMEI got registered as one that could not support LTE, so my line didn't get provisioned for it. I kept calling back, but no one could figure out how to change my provisioning. Finally I got a rep who tried something out of the box. He generated a "dummy" IMEI number for me, one that would be seen on the system as one that supports LTE, and registered that to my line. Lo and behold, that did the trick. I called Technical Support for this (you can ask to be transfered to that department if you call AT&T), so you might have to go through that - the good news is, it was rather quick, and I didn't have to get a new SIM card for it.

No more official chance to unlock bootloader

I found this thread, it is related to the Honor10 but i don't hope it will be extended to all Huawei products

IT will extend. As I read that's the deal Huawei had to take to launch devices in the US. No more unlocking, rooting and so on. All pages will go down soon.

Damn. I really wanted the M5 with LTE. I have the M3 and the only thing I don't like about it is no LTE. I know that one of the models has all AT&T bands except for band 2, but in my area I've only seen band 2 except for a few instances of band 12 and it was only 2 bars.
Just saw that today. I was really disappointed
And there is an additional requirement for requesting unlock from Huawei:
2. 用户必须在申请解锁的设备上登录华为云帐号并使用超过两周;

That is not written in the English version. It means:
The device MUST log on to Huawei Cloud account for over 2 weeks.

I just started my Huawei Cloud account (I feel using China's service is not right and disabled them on my first run). Hope I cloud pass through their requirement within the last 60 days ?
Otherwise I must pay for unlock, which does not seems right to me
Got mine now in case it's needed at some point in the future.. Thanks for letting us know.
OK, I'm new to this concept. So if I ever want to unlock the bootloader, I need to get a code now before the service is discontinued? But that code will be good forever, for repeated unlockings if needed?
And in order to get that code, I need to use Huawei cloud service for two weeks?
@Obveron: Yes, yes and no. I have not used the cloud thingy.

I also checked on ATT and Cricket's web site said the phone is not compatible.
