How to enable AOD on MiRoom MIUI 11 - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I think the MiRoom port for miui 11 is from mi8, so the aod components should be there right?
Is there any way to enable the aod designs?
I don't care about battery really but the aesthetics, I hope someone can help ?

I'm guessing it was deliberately omitted considering POCO has a LCD. There probably is a work-around this limitation but trust me it isn't worth it. I know you don't care about battery, which means you're probably around a wall outlet at work/school.
There are some apps on the Play Store that mimic this feature, but the battery drain isn't worth it. Plus they require so many permissions, that you have to wonder what exactly can they access and can't.
When MIUI 11 was announced I too was madly in love with the AD skins, they're so unique and downright sexy. But even if I had a phone that supported it, I wouldn't use it. I prefer longer battery over anesthetics.
I'm sorry I didn't answer your question.

Heads Up Stoplist in MIUI 10?

Hey guys, I've been using custom ROMs for an extended amount of time, and I'm thinking of going back to MIUI to see if I can live with it, since I find the scrolling screenshot quite useful, and also the swiping on the hardware buttons to enter One-Handed Mode.
However, there's this thing about custom ROMs that I really like, which is the ability to add an app (example a game) to the Stoplist of Heads Up notifications, which prevents them from popping up while I am in that specific app. Is there any way to achieve the same thing in MIUI?
Thanks for any response and help

From Marshmallow to Oreo there is lot of difference in the core of the framework. Oreo brings u lot of features further in blocking notification individually.
miui marshmallow is fully stable but u will miss those more customisation in MM.

One of the reasons I'm thinking of going with MIUI 10 Beta is because of battery life. I own this phone for a little over 2 years now, and most of the posts or videos I've seen says Nougat has better battery than Oreo, and Marshmallow has better battery than Nougat. Is it really a big difference, now that Nougat and Oreo have been released for quite a while now?

U can install pixel experience rom oreo. I think it has good SOT.
I m on cardinal treble rom. I m getting good battery.
If u getting like 1. 5 days of battery after doing normal use on marshmallow then better switch.
If u want miui then u can install Miui Eu rom. Its lighter miui with only playstore. No unnecessary stock gapps running background. May be will offer u more bttery.

Dont know dude.
Pixel experience will give u stock android experience. Very minimal customisation.
I use cardinal aosp or aosp extended. These are my favourites. I will stay with oreo atleast for another 6 months before pie gets android 9.1 update.
Now cardinal aosp is in treble format. If u want to try it then use treble recovery. Check battery by urself. I cant tell.
I m not much into notification blocking. Neither i spend time in setting permission for every app.

Oooh thanks for pointing this out!

New Pocophone user here with a couple of questions.

After a couple of time, I managed to unlock the bootloader (Xiaomi pls) and start rocking my new phone.
I flashed Pixel Experience but camera doesn't work properly . I tried also MIUI camera port but it doesn't save the taken photos until I restart the app. Is there a working camera app? I don't care much about IA or beauty enhancements, I'm ugly af anyways lol.
Also, there's a way to hide the notch and use it as a normal phone? Like clock and system indicators in the right and a whole screen for notifications. I picked Poco besides of the notch, but in fact I hate that new trend among manufacturers. For me notch is a mistake and I want to get rid of it.
Besides that, Pocophone is an amazing budget mobile. Performance is outstanding and I never had a heating issue (like Moto G4 Plus, my former phone).
Thanks in advance.
I can recommend flashing NitrogenOS and sideloading gcam + magisk module if lagging (not sure if needed, dont have a poco)
You can hide the notch there and gcam works well from what i know
You need to flash the camera fix zip in Pixel experience then it works smoothly/
look on this page for mega link https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3857076/post78127106

Update your vendor+firmware first before flashing PE
0 problems with GCam on PE
You can hide the notch in developer settings

Thanks, the PE thread don't say anything about flashing vendor nor firmware, but I flashed what @Mooatreides posted here and now the cam works like a charm.
The notch issue is the other thing. I managed to locate the option to hide it, but the UI still shows the status bar as there's a notch covering it. I want the clock and system stuff in the right, and notification icons in the left, just like old Androids. I google'd it without any success.
But thanks for everything, at least cam is working, notch is just a cosmetic thing.

Apps to Adjust Brightness

I have noticed that apps like Tasker and other brightness adjustment apps cannot change my Poco F1's brightness to higher settings compared to the stock MIUI brightness slider.
Do you experience the same issue ? (for those who tried these type of apps)
Thanks

I thought it was a custom kernel issue as I use Franco Kernel, but it seems like the phone itself. Still looking for a solution.

I'm on stock rom and non-root, I think there is some security on controlling brightness by any 3rd party and it should be disabled

Then it really could be some security or restriction, argh. I agree it must be disabled, have to find out how. Maybe I'll check with the 3rd party folks, they probably need to know anyway.
Ok, the developer of my favored app to adjust brightness fixed the problem, BFC app.
Now, I hope Macrodroid and Tasker can fix it, it might be the same problem for new Xiaomi phones.

Doogee y9 plus

Sorry, I don't know where to classify
Would anyone advise? Girlfriend has Doogee y9 plus, no notification LED and I didn't find ambient display in menu. Is there any way to activate or install? The phone has a rom pie. That's why I'm surprised there's nothing like that
I guess there won't be any custom rom..
Thanks for help..

I rarely reply to these type of posts but, here it goes...I guess
-The LED light it's a psychical component added to the device. Not sure how this could get "added" to the phone, if it did not come with one already . I found the scpecs on this website and could not find any comments regarding having LED notification light https://www.doogee.cc/detail/y-series_y9plus/159
-Regarding the ambient display. Doing a quick search I found this link: https://www.techbone.net/android/9/user-manual/ambient-display
Hope this helps!
PS: Don't PM regarding any technical support in regards to this phone as I don't own it nor plan to...:cyclops:
Okay. That I will not add the LEDs of course I know ? unfortunately, if the notification comes and you do not hear him, so he knows nothing. Ambient display in the settings I find using search, but there is only a line "when to wake up" and below it nothing. Is it possible that a factory reset would help? Wrong load of rom on first run? I thought ambient display was a standard feature
Thanks your answer
Edit:
According to the link ambient display has. As I thought. So I'll try factory reset. Thank you for your time. I haven't found anything like that myself.
Thanks
Hi, will somehow allow camera2 api? Camera probe shows "full". I found instructions on how to do root and eventually upload the original rom for doogee n20, it should be the same phones. I would like to solve the quality of photos because I think he should take better pictures. I think the phone focuses too long and in worse light when it focuses, so it can not stay focused until the subject is to take pictures ..

ambient lighting is there but its called "adaptive brightness" in settings but as for led there is no support unless you install app "on screen led light " works exactly the same but probably eat battery like geyser
to ensure it works always, till 0 %battery :
disable battery optimisation for it
and enable to run in dura speed (in settings)

Question Hide Notch option

Hey All !
I'd like to know if anybody knows if there's an option not to hide the notch in the system, i can't find that in the settings, even in Notifications & Control Center/Status Bar.
That's kinda annoying because i have a black bar on some full screen apps.
(Btw i'm running MIUI 12.5.7 China Stable)
Kind regards,
P.N

If the issue is with the notch, you want to take a look at developer options, but if the issue is with full screen apps is in the settings from the app to allow or not displaying them in this mode.
Thanks for your reply !
I already looked for these 2 settings,it doesn't remove that black bar on my status bar. I didnnt have that on my mi 9t, that's why it bothers me

Mm, I guess it solves if you hide the notch but moving the status bar, maybe an update? I remember some versions didn't include some features. In the meantime, you should read that https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/non-root-ota-hide-notch-fit-status-bar-with-notch.3838642/

Hey Guys !
So I flashed the xiaomi.eu ROM and there is the same issue, i tried SubwayChamp's method without success because i can't install the apk found in the guide
I don't know what to do, it's really dumb to have such a bar with the mix 4 screen...
Crazy isnt it, buy a phone with an under display camera and still get screen missing, i think the only phone i had that worked perfect was the Oneplus 7 pro.
Probably you can try by "moving" the screen (or simulating to do that) by reducing the screen tall.
If this method is still available in the current android version, you can try it https://nerdschalk.com/change-screen-resolution-adb-android/
For example, the resolution in MM4 is 2400x1080 if my source is not wrong, so you can do by trial-and-error 2370x1080, if not then 2350x1080 till get a comfortable view.
In MIUI-12.5 there is no option of moving screen smaller by reducing screen tall. They removed this option. This is causing problem, some notification icons get hidden under the front cam notch. Irritable thing.
Once you have Magisk installed, use this module
Tried with Xiaomi.eu, works perfectly
Without Root, any solution?

Hello guys, I am considering to buy Mi Mix 4 and it is really difficult to find info on this other than youtube reviews all saying same stuff.
My question is, if I use the stock ROM and no root, will I get this black bar or notch sometimes? I thought the camera was always hidden?
Second question is, how invisible is the camera really? On some video reviews, when the screen is off or on a white background, I can see the circle for the camera, but someone said it is just the cutout on the screen protector. So the screen protector has a hole for camera? Anyone tried removing the screen protector? Is the cutout or the camera completely invisible then?

Hey !
I had that black bar when i received the device on an official ROM, it may be fixed later tho (or have been fixed on official).
As i'm using xiaomi.eu Rom atm i can't tell but i still got that issue on some apps with EU rom, to me, that's the only drawback the phone has atm.
The camera is really hard to see, you can see it when you're screen brightness is low mostly on dark grey colors. When you're using it with full or 75% brightness it is slightly visible on dark colors (except black where it invisible because of the OLED) but it is really good and million times better than a hole punch.
Imo it is not an issue : I never bought a phone with a notch because i can't stand this and believe me, the UPC on the MIX 4 is amazing.
