Bluetooth audio codecs - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

I'm interested in buying the Tab S6 and using it with a bluetooth DAC. Probably going to pair it up with a ES100 (MK2), Fiio BTR3 or Shanling UP2/4 DAC.
I was just wondering which bluetooth audio codecs are supported by the S6. Could someone enlighten me on this as Samsung doesn't list the specifics on this?
Thanks in advance.

I can say that LDAC is OK wih BTR3.

Today I used aptx low latency with my Fiio BT receiver.

Thanks for the input. So at least aptx ll and ldac are supported. That should be good enough for my needs.

Ok I got some time, lets go through every protocol with the BTR3 and the original control app:
I get the pink flashing APTX and light blue AAC accepted.
No luck with HWA, LDAC and APTX HD sadly, the FIIO app just states SBC instead. And SBC really sounds like crap.
Not sure about aptx LL, this always activates the regular APTX which then gets connected.

Hmm strange because civciv seems to be getting LDAC running with the BTR3.

LDAC is definitely supported. Just be sure to enable it in Fiio BTR3 submenu at system BT settings. The LED turns to white while listening to music.

Thanks for the update. Now to make up my mind about which bt dac to buy .

I have a FiiO BTA10 Bluetooth adapter for ATH-M50x headphones. It's listed as supporting AAC, SBC, aptX, and aptX LL.
On my Tab S6, when I go to Settings -> Developer Options -> Bluetooth Audio Coded, I see it's connected using aptX. I don't see an aptX LL option.
So my question is, how did you get aptX LL to work?

I was able to set it up in the FiiO Music App.

How to change audio bluetooth codecs in Android Nougat.

Hello guys,
I have a Note 5 and want to listen to music via my Bose QC 35 II. As these headphones only support SBC, which is quite basic and the slightly better AAC codec, no Aptx streaming is possible. It is sad that the good sounding aptx is not available, so i wanted to get the best out of it and try to listen with the aac codec. Unfortunately, it is only possible to manually change the bluetooth codec in Android Oreo. Is there a way be it an additional app or similar actions to manipulate the bluetooth audio codec even in Android Nougat?
Thanks in advance*

Change to aptx HD does not work

I have tried several ways to change the Bluetooth codec to aptx hd on my mate 10 pro. I have a pair of aptx compatible Sennheiser headphones.
But in the developer Bluetooth options the changes does not seem to stick.
When the headphones are paired i can not change anything. It jumps to aptx automatically.
If i disconnect i can change all the Bluetooth audio settings. But the change back as soon as i leave the developer settings or connect my headsett.
Help please!
No fix available. Emui8 has had this issue forever. Just be glad that your device goes to aptx.

Poco only streams bluetooth audio using SBC

I've got a Bose Quietcomfort 35 bluetooth headphone. It reportedly supports SBC and AAC codecs.
Pocophone reportedly supports both of those codecs, but it only streams using SBC.
Even if I go to developers options and manually choose AAC, this options doesn't stick. If I go to another app and come back, it's back to SBC.
Can anyone help me solving this? I'd like to stream using AAC.

Yup, same problem here. The only audio codec I can use is SBC. I'm using the Bluedio TM bluetooth 5.0 headphones.
In my case, I think the problem is with the Bose headphones
I can stream audio to my Yamaha home theater and use aptx
I solved the problem by renaming the headphones to have the name "Bose Quietcomfort 35" it it. E.g. : "Bose Quietcomfort 35 AA"

mate20 pro support aptx-ll Bluetooth codec?

Hello comunity have anyone triyed with the m20 pro using the codex aptx-ll ? I only watch videos of YouTubeMusic and YouTube in high quality and researching i see that this service compress the music using AAC. But i read that aptx-hd and LDAC are far better codec with more bandwitdh. I see a pair of Bluetooth headphones that support aptx and aptx-ll but i dont know if the mate support this or only aptx and aptx hd.
Should i instend look for a pair of headphones that support AAC?

Not true according to the official www.aptx.com website.
Also I own a Mate 20 Pro, and for aptx there are only the basic "aptx" and the "aptx hd" options on Developer Options' bluetooth codec settings menu.
Are you 100% sure the Mate 20 Pro supports the aptx-LL codec specifically? How can you tell?
As for bluetooth audio lag.. lots of streaming apps and media players artificially compensate for that, i.e., they delay the video a split second so that the laggy audio catches up and everything is sync for the user to watch.
But realtime audio does suffer from lag. App sounds, or games, etc. All cases when the app or system cannot predict or tell in advance when and which audio is supposed to be played. I have never tried aptx-LL though and that seems to make the realtime experience almost completely lag-free, and looks like a really nice alternative.
But as I said, I do not believe the Mate 20 Pro supports it. If it does please let me know as I am very interested in this.
I have jabras 65t and jaybird x3. They both connect with aac and sbc. When they connect with the default aac, both have a half sec lag. When I got to developer string I can manually change the setting to sbc. When I do that the lag goes away. The only issue is the phone doesn't keep the setting. It will default back to acc when you use the earphones again. Just to prove I have a cheap pair of insignia hear phones with connect vis sbc and there is no lag.
It seems to me that the Earphones dictate which codec will be used. You can see this in developer settings where it will highlight which of the several available code s to choose from such as aas, and sbc. I would I am actually looking for a wireless headphones that do t use @C And use aptx. It's hard to check the settings on Amazon or any other site.

Well i have purchase from amazon the soundpeats Q12 and those support aptx and aptx-ll
I streaming spotify in very high quality and they sound perfect the mate 20 pro set them in aptx. In youtube and instagram livestrams i dont see any lag. Maybe beacuse aptx has more bandwith than ACC the pair of headphones cost me $30
I m using Funcl AI earbuds and It supports APTX .
Same problem.
I contacted the Huawei Service. No answer were given. They will e-mail me later

Mate 20 PRO - No APTX for wireless earbuds

I recently bought a pair of earbuds only to realize mate20 pro does not support APTX.
Launched developer settings, did not find APTX to be available under bluetooth codec when i paired my earbuds.
Can anyone else confirm on this? Emailed huawei, only for them to neither deny or confirm the missing driver. Huawei only mentioned that they will look into the matter.
I have a SHIVR and a SoundPeats bt headset/phone, both working with aptx , no problem under 9.1 or 10. Maybe headset fault?
Hi I have sabbat e12 ultra no problems with aptx
Its using aptX HD if device supports it, and falling back to regular aptX the rest conditions. There's no toggle, its not controllable manually.
