Hi,
I've recently been lucky enough to acquire the European version of the Honor 7 on their official website vmall.
I had the chance to use it for a little bit and everything seems great but I'm facing one major issue which is: I can't get anything coming from Google Play...
Every time I try to do so I either get an error or my Google app just spins and keep spinning for no reason.
On another thread, I saw that this is due to the phone being Chinese therefore Google is blocked.
I don't know if anyone found a solution to bypass this limitation or if I'm the only one facing the problem with the European version of the Honor 7 but I just wanted you guys to let guys know that it might be an issue you'll have to face. (there's no need to erase you cache or delete the GApps, it won't work)
Hope someone will come out with a solution !

i bought Honor 7 last friday from Vmall portal. I receive the device today, and fortunately my Google Play Store works fine.
I'm sorry.
Just tried again and after waiting for a while, it seems like I got to download some applications.
It took me a while but I managed to get something so I guess it might just be coming from the network I was using.
Hopefully it'll work better as I keep on using it.
Here the same, no problem with the h7 received by vmall.eu on italy.
I had the same problem on my chinese PLK-AL10, 64GB.
Removing google account, deleteting cache and data on download, play services helped for a few hours.
Looks indeed it is connected to using the chinese Huawei apps.
Did a stock ROM reflash, which left my personal data intact, now it has been ok for 3 days.
Here no problems too with Google Play.
Check if your version is same of me in Setting / About Phone / Type is PLK-L01
I had same problem, just go to parameters in Google play store and clic on the version number, the play store will update and that's good no more problem
Apparently the biggest problem was to update the Google Play to the latest version but once done, everything went as smoothly as usual.
I guess it must've been some trouble with the Google Services the phone came up with but everything's got fixed as soon as the service got updated.
As mickeydeplage said once done no more problems.

could you confirm the subversion sent in italy from vmall.eu ?? it is PLK-L01? could also confirm that it works with sim LTE Wind?

Got it to work by re-installing the google play store, now 3 days later, back to the same issue. Fix is pretty simple
- clear play store and play services cache
- add google account (Apps will work but store will give 7S error)
- remove google account
- add google account
- All working again.. for another 0-72hours.
ADB logs to follow as soon as I have some free time.. Any ideas are welcome

For me solution was to install older version of Google play. I've installed version 5.7 and everything went fine, however I just noticed that it was automatically updated to 5.8.8 - however it still works fine.

I recently got a Honor 5X. I am totally happy with the phone except for the GPS problems.
Whenever I open Google Maps it locates my position for couple of seconds and immediately looses it. It's like the phone couldn't hold on to my position more than couple of seconds.
Has anyone faced this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I am having the same issue on two brand new honor 5x with the marshmallow update. Navigation does not work in Google maps either.
I updated the phone to Marshmallow immediately after I got it. So I never got to test if it was working in Lollipop or not.
I've had my 5x since release and had no GPS problems. I'm still Lollipop as I've been so busy I haven't sat down to upgrade the firmware yet - I've even been playing Pokemon Go on it and the GPS behaves yet.
You might have a bum GPS that needs to be exchanged for a different phone.
It's definitely Google maps and the Marshmallow update not playing nice with each other. I have two Honor 5x with the same problem. Have to use waze for turn by turn.
Same here. I tried Here maps and it works perfectly fine even in offline mode.
The issue seems to be specific to Google Maps.

I just had an email conversation with Ron from [email protected] He said they are aware of the issue and apparently there is a patch available from the Huawei. After giving them my IMEI # they will be pushing down to my phone over the weekend. Hopefully it works. Reach out to them
I have also contacted the Honor Support and they have pushed a small 509kb ota update to my phone.
After applying the update Google Maps is working without problems.

I actually fixed it by downloading TopNTP from the Playstore. You install the profile for your region/area. Google Maps works flawlessly.

No more updates for OnePlus X period. And Google Assistant is done from google app side.
All devices running 6.0 Marshmallow and up will recieve Google Assistant through Play Services. The rollout just started so it might take a while.

get assistant is the app I used to get google assistant working on my oneplus x with lineage OS
got it yesterday, having issues with "Ok Google" detection at first. But it turns out the culprit is that Google app not being system app(i flashed pico Gapps package). So i reflashed my gapps with the nano package and everything works!

Went to search something on Google now on my OnePlus X today, and Google Assistant just popped up. Thinking it has something to do with Action Launcher: Pixel Edition, I switched back to stock Oxygen launcher, and it was still there.
I've just got my Huawei Mate 10 and absolutely loving it. Just can't help but noticed that there are certain apps in the google play whereby i just couldn't install the app. Anyone having this issue? Oh, and there's the Tap&Pay thing but I couldn't download Android Pay, is it resticted by region?
Some apps havent tested with Kirin 970 i guess.
You can simply download the apk from apkmirror and install it for most of the app

These problems are solved by updating your phone to B119, assuming it's the C636 variant.
You can either use FunkyHuawei and update now, or wait for Huawei to push an OTA.

Ah I see.. Thanks for the prompt reply.
And I've noticed something. When you're in silent or vibrate mode and you take a pic, you can still hear the shutter sound.
In apps like Instagram and whatsapp, shutter sound is on even though you're in silent mode. You can change the settings in stock camera, but not in 3rd party apps. That's what I've noticed so far.
Hello I was wondering how can I get the stock OnePlus Dialer and Messages app on the Nord N20 5G, originally it came with Google dialer which I find absolutely awful for a multitude of reasons.
I tried using a Magisk module to add them but the apps from it crashed so I was wondering if someone had another solution to get these apps on this phone.
currently running Android 11 if that helps.

If you just need a nice dialer, there an app called Kohler that is FOSS & available on github, f-droid, etc.
