When you rotate the screen, there should be a small square icon in the upper right corner of the keyboard. Press that icon and the keyboard will drop to the second screen.

Wow. Small trick, huge impact. Why is it hidden?
And can one changes the keyboard while using this mode?

There's not I think lg backup from my v30 overwrote my LG g8x keyboard. You have the app by any chance

Unfortunately this mode only works with the LG keyboard. BTW you can also split the keyboard when in this mode to type easier with both thumbs.

Sorry I don't have the app. Not sure, but it might be available in the LG app store.

Damn would be great if this is extentable to custom keyboard !!

I'm really considering this phone but I'd like to 100% clarify something brought up in this post:
You can use an entire screen for a keyboard but ONLY with LG's keyboard app. Not with SwiftKey or whatever other funky third-party keyboard you might want to try out.
Again, just wanting to clarify.

Thanks mate. It's the little things you want to make sure about before plunking down your cash, ya know?
Yet for some reason I still feel oddly compelled to this device...

I got mine yesterday, if you have any questions let me know, I'm like a little kid happy with this beast

How do i add emojis on my keyboard when saving contacts?

Work like this except LG keybaord

How about Google keyboard?

[Q] Can you restrain the keyboard?

Is there a way to keep the keyboard from popping up (temporarily)? So I want to keep the keyboard from showing on a certain website.
Here's the deal: on a website I like to visit there is a small animation and a place to type in your response. The keyboard pops up and covers the animation. I actually don't care about typing my response - I just want to see the animation. Thanks

Not exactly the answer you are looking for ... but you can close the keyboard by pressing the back key once.
--L.
One way you could do it is to download Smart Keyboard Pro and go to Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Hide in Portrait.

Thanks, mattdm - that should work and I may very well use that suggestion. Does anyone know of a free alternative?

TouchPal keyboard has that. When it pops up, there's an arrow pointing down on the right side and it'll disappear. swiftkey has that feature too .

The thing is that the keyboard doesn't disappear quick enough before the animation starts and it is a quick animation so I miss the beginning. In case you are wondering what the heck I am doing... I am learning ASL fingerspelling. A hand spells letters of a word at different speeds for practice so if I miss the first letter, I miss the word.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

My suggestion will do it instantly. I know there's a free trial version of Smart Keyboard on the Play Store...try that one and see if it has that feature.

single dot home screen?

So I removed all of the home screens, save for the main one. Before there were four or, but now this last one won't disappear. Is there a way to remove it, without launchers or roms, all that? Just a setting somewhere... Thanks
Well, you have to have one home screen, right?

Oh, I see. You'll have to use a custom launcher (like Nova, Epic, etc.) and disable "page indicator", or an Xposed module like GEM Xperia if you want to keep using the stock launcher, but also want customization options.

LG G5 keyboard?

Hey good people. I am thinking about getting this phone. Can someone who has it post screenshot of the keyboard, especially emojis section. Really hate the blobs/droids. I wanna see how they look. Thank you.
It looks like this. Why do you care about stock keyboard?
What a bizarre topic. There are dozens of free keyboards out there, all usually better than stock manufacturer ones as well....
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
And it does not matter how the emoji looks on your screen, when you send it to another phone it is interpreted as an emoji using whatever emoji graphics they have.
Personally I HATE the stock LG emojiis on the LG G5 Keyboard. They are really ****. I don't even use the G5 keyboard (I use Swype). I want the vanilla Android ones back, but I have G5 H860, so no root for me...
Somewhat related though, if you choose to use another keyboard (other than the LG G5 stock one), you still get a damn annoying notification that you aren't using their keyboard. More frustrations! LOL!

Using SwiftKey from 4 months, never had such Notification.
This is what I see in terms of the notification. See screenshot. The fourth icon from left. It's nothing to do with the Swype keyboard I'm using it's just showing cos I'm not using the LG keyboard. I looked into it, and others see it too. Apparently no way to remove unless you have root.

Nope, that is a notification that appear when you use any type of keyboard, Even the lg one, it allows you to Change the keyboard quickly.
I know. That's what I've been talking about. I never said it was otherwise.

Nope, you were talking about an annoying notification that appear only if you choose another keyboard other then the lg one, and that remind you that you are using another keyboard, and this, is totally false.
Maybe a quote of your post will help you:

Another thing is that this, afaik, is not a "LG thing", it's present also in other Android devices.
It's the same thing. That is what I meant. It's a notification that cannot be turned off. Unless you know a way?

It's not the same thing. What you meant? I can't, as other users here, read your mind and understand that a "notification that reminds you that you are not using the lg stock keyboard" and "notification that appear on many (if not all, because it's an android thing, you know) android devices when you use any keyboard" it's the same...
Really, back in topic after this useless discussion, go to settings, general, language & input, current keyboard, select more, disable all keybaord avaible but one.
Have a nice day!
You ought to stop twisting my words and misquoting me. We're all on the same side here dude.?*
Have you been able to go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Current Keyboard > Select More, AND THEN unselect the LG Keyboard? If so you might have root. I however, like a huge majority of G5 users do not have root and cannot unselect the LG Keyboard from this screen. See screenshot attached. Because of this the notification is ALWAYS present when a keyboard is in use, UNLESS we disable all other keyboards except the LG one. Get me??*
I can only find a thread about this topic relating to the LG G4, but it is the same scenario as the G5:http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lg-keyboard-persistent-notification-t3130697

Have you tried disabling the LG Keyboard in "Apps" in Settings? The screen you have is different to how mine is displayed on an H850. I have no issues with any keyboard.
Yeah, tried a while back. I cannot disable them (there's two, one is the black theme). They are greyed out.
I have also blocked their notifications, but it hasn't helped. See screenshots...

You mean like this?
I'm running stock 10i on T-Mobile. No root.
Will likely root again soon, emoji and a couple small things keep calling my name.
I wish mine looked like that. I'm guessing you have H850?

Really, i'm not twisting your words, you wrote wrong things, and that's it, next time choose wisely the words you use
Yes, i'm using a branded Vodafone H850, and no, i'm not rooted, i can disable all of them without anything special.
I just Added a screenshot, maybe the H860 has not this possibility? Strange, usually the dual sim variant has the same software as a the mono-sim one, with the management of the Sims...

How to set homescreen to middle?

Hi there, I just got the Moto Z (Droid). Its got its quirks but it's a pretty good phone. Who in their right mind decided that the left-most panel is good for being a homescreen? It's completely nerve-wrecking for me! I do not like third-party launchers like Nova or even Google launcher. Is there some way I can set the homescreen to the middle?
Thanks sooooo much in advance!

Yes but when you press the circle button to bring you to your homescreen it goes to the left-most panel, not the one in the middle.

No solution then...? It's a relatively easy thing to patch in, I wonder if we can get motorola/lenovo to add it in.

Does anyone know if this keyboard will come to the Mate Xs?

Looks like the Mate X2 has a new keyboard. Does anyone know if this will come to the Mate Xs as an update?

Meanwhile, you can try the Sfiftkey Keyboard. It has such a split layout.
Problem with swiftkey keyboard is that it doesnt have the option to automatically toggle between the split keyboard and normal keyboard (when the phone is folded) . You need to do it manually all the time. So irritating.

Oh, I see... That is a bummer... I'll leave a comment in the app store. Maybe Microsoft will add it someday.
