Disable AF in the FM radio app - Sony Xperia XA2 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I'm reaching out to signal a problem regarding the FM radio app on Xperia XA2. The AF (Alternative Frequency) function implemented into the app is constantly searching for a stronger signal for the tuned station and pauses the reception during these attempts. Because the tuner sensitivity is pretty low and therefore the reception quality not so great, these pauses occur very often, especially on the move. Most of the times AF can't even find a better signal and the tuner reverts back to the initial frequency, but the process restarts moments later. This is interrupting the reception to the point the radio becomes almost unusable.
Could someone please modify the source code of the FM radio apk in order to disable the AF function?
My phone’s model is H4113, running on latest stock ROM (Android 9) and rooted with Magisk. If someone figures it out, please upload the updated apk or highlight the modifications that have to be operated in the code.
Thank you in advance.

So I found this video on youtube (Sony Xperia XA2 Review & Impressions - Using LineageOS 16) which shows a different FM radio app on a phone running LineageOS vs the app in the stock ROM. To anyone running this custom ROM, do you experience the same issue with FM radio? If not, please upload the apk here, maybe it'll work on the stock ROM too (at least it's worth a try).

FM Radio standalaone app, modded

Hi folks !
== modded APP for FM radio on the defy ==
The FM radio of the Defy, only work with the "ConnectedMusicPlayer"...
There's not a single FM app on the market.
AFAIK that's because of the lack of API. or closed source of motorola's API.
based on excellent droid2 radio hack by "slayher".
this app from slayher works out-of-the-box.
The added-value of my version is that it will work even in flight-mode, and without headset.
of course, expect crappy reception without headset . put a metal wire or some stuff on the jack !
And I don't understand why FM is disallowed in flight mode, when WiFi is allowed ... that beats me ....
the new app is modded with apktool, signed with "Auto-sign" from "Dave Da illest" so i bet it is not official signing
should work on other moto/FM phones too.
yip
XDA is awesone ! can't have done anything w/o the hackers here !
no warranty, this app could damage your phone and (more probably) bug because I'm not a skilled hacker and made a dirty hack.
Reciving without antenna quality is really bad. Catches signal almost only "from hands".
yep, it is bad, but if you stick some metal stuff on the jack it is way better.
Also you can turn the phone around, the position of phone is important for receiving quality, especially without antenna.
I did this because in rare occasions, I would have like to listen radio ( forgot the headset ) and could have managed a home-made antenna, or I was in a area with good reception.
I hate it when you know it should work, but the limit is the software.
the "flight'mode" feature is perhaps more useful. that was a nonsense to prevent it. FM is a receiver-only...
Does not work for me. Still wants the headset plugged in, either it doesnt start
Edit:
After rebooting it is working.
So, thank you for sharing
U should delete original app/apk first, seems like this one was not installed.
Hi,
How do I delete the original apk?
I have android 2.2.1 3.4.2-145
I'm new in andoroid.
thanks
2.2 ? I don't know if it will work. it has been tested on 2.1 only I think.
fedorfl is right, seems like the new app is not installed.
What is your original app ? do you have a defy with ConnectedMusicPlayer or something else?
You might want to backup your original apps somewhere first. These are not available on the market, and not easy to get on internet.
After reboot, works well.
Thanks.

and never worked without the hedset at allllllllll
no sound or anything..till i plug it in
and my house is 500m away fromthe Radio station. still did not work
thanks...
Just one thing left to be done
Hi yipyipyip,
Thanks a lot for your modified version! I like very much the fact that the wired headset is not required anymore. Mainly because if the USB cable is attatched (usual way to have your phone charged whilst listening to FM radio for hours), it is enough to have strong stations sinthonized.
The only thing I miss now is: whenever an A2DP connection is found to be active, all current sound souces (MP3s, notifications, etc.) are routed to it. Would it be possible to have the same behaviour implemented here? I mean, if either the sound is currently being sent to the speakerphone, or through a new button, dedicated to bluetooth headsets, perhaps?
Thanks, anyway.
Regards,
Carlos
Hi,
Really thanks for this app.
the only thing is that ir seems I'm the one who has the app to close (hide and sometimes crash) when I edit one channel's name. And from that time on I can't use that channel anymore.
Do you have the same issues? Can you help me?
Thank you, bye!

flight mode
Great app, thx
But it doesn't work in flight mode
Just found this thread & thought I'd give it a go - works fine on froyo 2.2.2 on the Nordic 3.4.2-177 ROM.
I needed the headset in to get a signal but picked up the stations easily & sound works fine in loudspeaker mode.
Thanks
Can not install on my cm7 beta 6.

is there any way to change the frequencyrange of the app?
there are some stations i'd loke to listen to wich are not covered by the original app :-/
something like a world receiver??
or is it possible to modify the program itself??
tnx
does this work with latest cm7 ?

FM Radio [CM10.1BETA1UNOFFICIAL]

Hi guys
I switched from my stock legend rom to the CM 10 beta last week. I am TOTALLY in love with the rom, exept it doesn't have a FM Radio app, and the app "FM Radio" doesn't work either (with the red ruler like logo)
Are there any fm radio apps known working on cm10 for legend?
Thank you!
The only FM radio app that could work AFAIK is Spirit FM
As its developer states:
"How many other "Real FM Radio" apps are on Google Play ? Two: 1 for Galaxy S only and one repackaged Motorola app.
Why ? It's extremely difficult. Google doesn't support FM radio and carriers suppress it. Intensive reverse engineering is required.
Almost 2 years after Spirit was first created, nobody else has been "crazy" enough to attempt to compete in this niche."

Galaxy tab p7500 CM10.1 bugs

Got some bugs from cm10.1 nightlies.
1) music sound is low (music, youtube, etc). But notifications, keyboard sounds are normal.
2) when was on 20013 01 20 buid my cellular network indicator worked, after updating to newer versions indicator stopped working (shows -1db)
3) battery drain is a bit faster than on original 4.0.4 version
Couldn't post it to cm discussion topic in development section, no permissions
Thx to the developers.
signal bars are now fixed
also the sound is now seems to be fixed too, now i can listen music in youtube normally without need to connect to external speakers
Battery drain issue seems to be gone over time (maybe there vas some fix, or kernel somehow adopted to my tablet over time)
One more time, thanks to Devs

[Q] Xperia U - CM 11 - Stuttering audio during voice calls and music playback

Hello,
i am experiencing some really annoying problems with my Xperia U on which I installed CM 11.
Model: ST25i
CM version: 11-20141012-UNOFFICIAL-kumquat
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband: u8500-49020908-P2H_EC01
Kernel: 3.0.101_by_Munjeni_and_XperiaSTE-g844830a
CPU: ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v7I)
RAM: 377 MB
Build number: KTU84Q test-keys
I have also Sony Media Pack installed, as described in the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621492
Everything works fine except for some random reboots during intense CPU usage but I think it is a safeguard system.
The really annoying problem is that sometimes the audio blocks for a fraction of second and then comes back; this happens when playing music, when the navigator voice is speaking, but most of all during phone calls!!! Making very difficult to understand what other people are saying :crying:
I have managed to provide some "bypass" of the problem doing the following:
Editing a macro with MacroDroid to disable Data, WiFi and GPS during a call; this improves the quality but is far from being a definitive solution
Setting the network preferably to 2G connection. Results? Same as above.
Doing regular scan with SD Maid. Don't know why, but it has improved overall performance, including random reboots and audio issues.
Trying to reinstall ROM without installing Sony Media Pack, but, as long as it didn't seem to solve the problem, I decided to keep it because I like it (LOL)
Any suggestions are welcome, except for upgrading to CM 12 because I really need A2DP working and I have read that is still doesn't work in that version.
Thank you very much in advance.

The FM Radio (Sony Xperia) app does not work on Android 13. Ideas? Help.

Hello XDA Forums, My phone does not have the preinstalled Sony Xperia FM Radio app, thankfully I have another one.
So I downloaded from APKMirror the Sony Xperia FM Radio app, APK version 8.1.0, for Android 12+, then I installed it.
Then, I accepted permissions for microphone and files/media, but now it crashes after the please insert headphones message. I tried again, it appeared the permission to activate notifications, but until then, it said FM Radio keeps stopping. Then I allowed notifications permission.
Then I got no choice but to try one last time. Same thing, crashes.
I don't have another FM Radio app APK, what I searched is only TuneIn, which is useless, and other apps don't have much sense. So, can we please get a fix for the Sony Xperia FM Radio app to make it work on Android 13?
My phone is a Sony Xperia 10 IV, which runs Android 13.
Please help me, I can't live like that.
Thank you!!
Files in attachments.
Guys, I need your help. Please, give me a fix for the FM Radio app.
First of all, are you sure that your phone includes integrated chipsets that offer FM radio feature?
No, but I wish yes.
