rooting moderns sammy devices runs the risk of exactly this. i still dont get why people root anymore? its so unnecessary anymore these days

Because in pakistan duty of mobiles r higher then the mobile actual price. So if someone import mobile from other country then must have to root to use in pakistan

Try custom rom, my G965F with LightROM connects and restore from samsung account just fine. Samsung health works too. Additionally, I had 2 SIM and 1 SDCard trick work. Sadly, samsung pass is never gonna work again after first root.

I had the same problem, give Soldier ROM a try.

no i am using stock android 9

So every one knows it's a mismatched kernel date with security patch. Nothing to do with root.

racism and other aggressive posts is not what this forum is about in my personal opinion. I remember back in the day when there was some elite-ism going on from the people who thought that every person who (on their first day on the site) should know every acronym by heart and know how to use the (at the time, VERY broken search tools) to find out how to do the x-y-z thing theyre trying to do. Luckily, that seems to have subsided greatly and people are generally very helpful. Thats why i love this forum, its people just helping people usually.

Same but elitism isn't an excuse for slander but I agree with you the current forums are super friendly and helpful that's why I love this website

[Q] Samsung Fascinate 16 digit password?

Does anyone know the 16-Digit Password for the Fascinate? I have tried brute forcing it with almost every known samsung password but none work! Does anyone know the method used to retrieve the password? Is it done by dumping a specific memory range or do these passwords just get leaked by samsung? Willing to pay for the password at this point if anyone can point me in the right direction. TIA!
I too like to know.

yeah, so this is completely unknown at this time. Can you find this info from looking @ phone files or filesystem? Or does it need to come direct from an insider at Samsung ?

where did you get the code from that you had to pay $50?
Guys, as per the forum rules, you can't solicit payment up-front.
That's not in the spirit of the forum, and I would suggest the user claiming to have the code may wish to post it, and accept donations to make up the cost.
Selling this code isn't allowed on the forum, so I have removed the offer of sale from the thread. I will leave this open, but if it returns to talk of selling it, this will be closed.

Attention rom devs

Just posting a reminder that any rom posted here has to have the MI store removed from the rom. The app is banned as it provides warez.
You've effectively killed this forum, the only source of ROMs for our device. Thanks.

All it takes is having the app removed. Not really hard.
This app has been banned since the beginning of Xiaomi producing miui roms. It's nothing new.

Same. Some stupid policies and some stupid myths. Perhaps there used to be some sort of warez there accidentally and everyone is still being anal about it. As you can see mods don't really care about this phone. You can see by posts like "I would never get their devices". So childish

It's not a matter of childish. I have many reason why I would never own one of their devices and that being the fact that the oem is on my jobs banned list.
Also all you have to do is look at any of the so called. Free apps that are paid apps on the Android market.
Make no mistake it was not accidental at all. China is known for things like this.
As for the mods. We have been around long enough to know the story with them so, no none of use would ever touch one of their devices. But that is pointless as it's up to the users to do something with it.

You can look yourself. Just do a compare between the 2 stores. That was part of the reasons why miui roms were banned for the longest time.
You have to remember that MIUI started here on xda before Xiaomi bought them out.
Warez or not, MI Store sucks ass, but banning ROMs is pointless, MIUI forum is trash, I still don't know how it works, and some ROM's has backdoors and for example, they send paid SMS to vietnam, That sh!t costed me 50 bucks!!!

First let me make one thing very clear. I have nothing against Chinese people that make software. You have to understand the Government that runs the country there, to have a small understanding. You see In china they have the right to monitor everything their citizens are doing on the internet. This is part of the reason for the great firewall of china. So spyware, malware and other software that helps in this are normally sponsered by the Military to help in doing just this.
I have never used it myself but as it is an open source based OS it should be good. You can see just what it is doing. The hard part will be the coding translations, as things dont always translate right.
Any non MIUI based rom should be ok. The problem with that is CM is normally buggy and all the roms use the patch rom setup which is never really stable nor is it something I would trust as that is injecting stuff into a rom that I cant VET.
In this day and age one has to be careful with all these new toys that are coming to many markets across the world.
Remember, You get what you pay for. So if something is too good to be true then you have to find the catch.

You are right about the store, i was quite surprised when i found paid apps there. This is correct.
But i'm not sure if this is still the case, i saw them a year ago, now i couldn't find the apps,
maybe they've cleaned the store in meantime.
And a script removing apps isn't hard, just search for "updater-script remove apps".
BUT i've tried such script on Sony Xperia P, not in MIUI, i don't know if deleting Mi Store (com.xiaomi.mipicks) would cause bootloop or not.
I know that Mi Store enabled/disabled is region dependent, you can disable it when switching to another region in Beta rom.
But deleting? I know that when i've deleted Updater apk, or changed its permissions, it caused bootloop. Needs to be confirmed.
But with government spying - if you want to be honest - maybe we should ban all ROMs tied with Google, which means all Androids?
Remember about PRISM and Edward Snowden?
American's NSA (National Security Agency) ?
I have nothing to American people, just sayin.
But according to former CIA employee, Edward Snowden, Google joined to the NSA spying program in 14 Jan 2009.
I think that you simply have a choice - either give your personal data to American or to Chinese people. (or both).
You can minimize the risk by disabling for ex. Analytics app... etc.
But saying that chinese are spying... USA govt does the same
And better not looking for Echelon project...
But - the main topic here - yes, it's a good idea to remove Mi Store from roms.
One can always add it himself/herself, there are also other stores, F-droid, Aptoid, there is a choice
American companies aren't communist nor are they guilty of some of the most sever human rights violations in the world.

Android Pay

Sorry if I breaking forum rules but I can't post on "Android Pay" thread. It says I haven't entered image verification????
Anyway....
Have Some BAD NEWS!!! on this subject guys.
Have been emailing customer services over the last few weeks, to try to resolve the problem that is Android Pay. Had an email back at the beginning of the month saying and I quote
"Hello friend,
We haven't got answers from our technician. They are still working on it.Pls wait for more days.
Best Regards,
Lynn
Team Elephone"
Been on Holiday and haven't had time to chase it up until lately. Not some days, but 3 weeks have passed and 2 software updates. I emailed customer services again for an update as I hadn't heard anything. Again got an email from Lynn and here is her email response
"Hello friend,
Sorry to tellyou that the problem can't be solved so far.
P9000 doesn't support Android Pay.
Best regards,
Lynn
Team Elephone"
No resolution, so its up to you guys now to continue to spread the word for Elephone's customers services and technical support as it's useless to me. I will sell it and get something else that works fully. I bought this device with good will. As it was one of the few devices with NFC around that price range. Stupidly I thought Android Pay would just work!!! Clearly not. Lesson learnt!!!
This is the same response I posted on the Elephone forum BTW
It's not up to Elephone to make it work, it's up to Google.
They need to have a signed, certified, and approved by banks OS to make it work.
So basically Android Pay will only work on Nexus, HTC, Samsung and LG phones. All major manufacturers. It doesn't even work on OnePlus phones, as it runs Cyanogenmod.
Also, your phone has to have a locked bootloader, stock recovery and has to be unrooted for AndroidPay to work.
It's a ridiculous requirement that makes 80% of Android phones not compatible. Read the comments on Google Play, you will see the disappointment.
Google says they will try to negotiate with the banks to require fewer security measurements, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Again. Not Elephone's fault. Not up to them.
Nonsense!!!!! OnePlus 3 comes with Android Pay pre-installed. So an uninformed thing to say. My handset has a locked bootloader, stock recovery and is unrooted. It also works with various banking apps So YES!!! it is down to Elephone to sort the certification out. This is the response I got from Google themselves:-
"Hi , Unfortunately, the Elephone P9000 is running test-keys that were not registered with Android's Compatibility Test Suite. Until the manufacturer resolves this, all users on Elephone P9000 devices will be unable to use Android Pay. Please feel free to contact the manufacturer to ask about their plans for enabling you to get setup.

OnePlus 3, maybe. Not the older ones though. I can literally post screenshots of users complaining.
The OnePlus 3 is running OxygenOS. The older ones Cyanogenmod, which, I do not think will be supported. Ever.
Sooo I'm not the one who is uninformed. (A billion exclamation marks)
Lastly, what's the point being on XDA-Developers if you have a locked bootloader?
Google Wallet used to be much more open, all you needed was a device with an NFC.
Now you need to adhere to some ridiculous security measurements...
Elephone is running a modified version of Android. I don't think they will ever get the "test-keys" registered.
You are both ridiculously misinformed on the matter.
Elephone needs to switch from signing their ROM with test-keys to signing it with release-keys. If you want to know the difference between the two then please search.

Therefore it is down to them. I wish I would have known this before I bought the damned thing. Other than that, not a bad handset for that cash.
I was merely quoting an email I got this morning from Elephone and an email I got from Google a few weeks ago. I was not being informed or misinformed, or trying to be clever or anything. Just letting everyone know what the outcome was. End of story. Thanks!

Everyone's ridiculously misinformed! Misinformation all around. On the house.
Getting back on topic, are you saying that anyone who makes a ROM and signs it with release-keys instead of test-keys can make a Google-Pay-friendly ROM? That wouldn't make sense? I don't know. This info doesn't just lie around, so apologies if I sound daft.
Cheers
I'm going to jump on the "wish I had Android Pay" bandwagon.
I use contactless payment all the time and have backed the Pagare strap for my Pebble Time Steel watch but that has been delayed until next year, so in the interim it seems I can only use cards. Would like to be able to leave my wallet at home sometimes.
So is the only solution likely to be if Elephone themselves stop signing their roms with test keys, and use release keys instead, and users who are on custom roms go back to using the standard one?

I asked Elephone on their FB page if they knew when Android Pay would be supported on P9000.
Reply:

Disappointing
FWIW I have read that it's not possible to get Android Pay working on phones with unlocked bootloader, or Cyanogenmod. Also Chinese phones generally.
As such, not sure how I just managed to set it up on my wife's Oneplus One running CM13. Added card, verified, no error messages.
I thought the OPO had an unlocked bootloader from stock, and it's still running CM13 not Oxygen OS?
If so, why can't we get Android Pay on P9000 in the CM13 ROM that is being developed?
I think it was something to do with the rom signing keys, I wish they would sing the rom with release keys instead.

That's the first part of it, there are other parts if the CTS that need to pass as well but signing a ROM with test keys is a big deal breaker as it really isn't secure.

Root and XPosed needed, so some MIGHT be out here. I'm using rootcloak and device Faker in combination with the App boon.

Guide to flashing on a g930a in post two, although its pretty straightforward. i included odin inside the .rar
Download the firmware from the post above, which includes odin 3.12.3, which worked for me. if you have problems, try the odin in the root post
once downloaded, extract until you have all four .tar.md5 files
open odin, press the BL button and select the BL_G930UUEU2APEH-blah-.tar.md5 file
do the same for AP, CP, and CSC

Goal acheived. Firmware is on its way!
Very exciting! As soon as I saw the Edge U firmware thread I got super excited before I remembered I only have the flat s7. Can't believe it took this long for someone to get it!
I found that site about a week ago and determined it wasn't legit because the firmware has been uploaded for over a month and no word of it still until recently.
Guess I'm going to be proved wrong?

you already have, its just persian and weird.
i got the g930a PF2 firmware from it and works fine.
in fact,
persia is right off the coast of south korea,
which is why i determined it was probably legitimately illegitimate.
the site does, however, take 1-24 hours to process payments. which is what im currently waiting on you guys. coming soon i promise

Did you check the files for malware? Is there any way they can inject stuff into them to compromise the phone or PC? Why would a Persian site be the only one that has a US carrier FW?

Omg dude chill.
They literally can't inject anything into these files. Their signed. You get that's the whole reason we need these specific files right? Chill out. As I previously explained
PERSIA IS RIGHT UNDER SOUTH KOREA, LOOK AT A MAP PEOPLE.
Samsung headquarters=suwon, South Korea.
People are corrupt and broke in Persia
Deduction; legitmate site doing illegitimate things for money so the guy probably risking his job to leak these files onto an incredibly well organized (albeit persian) forum so he can eat and pay rent and get laid. Just like the rest of us
The world is corrupt dude.
But your phone doesn't have to be.
I didn't scan for malware, and don't need to.
It's a firmware file signed by Samsung that successfully restored my LOCKED BOOTLOADER phone back to stock.
It's not an executable, and it cannot harm you or your precious fragile bubble of false safety.
I hate people who don't understand how malware works.
I haven't used an Antivirus since I was 8
And everyone I see who have Antivirus programs have Hella malware and I remain clean.

The guy probably has an inside source at Samsung that provided him the files for a fee, which is why we have to pay for it.
These files are signed by Samsung, which is why the bootloader accepts them, so there's pretty much no chance of their being malware embedded in the files.

I personally don't use any commercial Antivirus software on my PC either. Just what is default with Windows and I haven't had any major problems.
BTW, can you link the site please? I wanna see if I can get the 935A FW.

There's a problem with that one. Everyone who restores to it loses the ability to receive calls. I want to try the site you used to see if maybe the one we have isn't complete or something.

you click that, it takes you to a persian site, you switch to english at the top left, signup and buy premium, the 15$ option gives you 5gb of bandwith and 4 files per day per month.
it took a full day for me to be bale to download the files after payment with a new account.
i believe the phone problems are related to yalls EFS partitions though. and you just should have made a backup
Links posted, guys. sorry, fell asleep last night while they were uploading
At work so I can't flash it yet.
Can you confirm if band 17 works?
Also according to post 413 on the page below enhanced lte and video calling may work with the below edits.

chances I won't get permission to unlock?

I only wrote that I plan to study android development (though that's a way in the future). And I got paranoid and tried to submit more detailed explanations, though I believe they were automatically rejected (I couldn't read the Chinese pop-up). It's only been a couple of days or so since my first attempt, has anyone be been rejected? I'm just a little worried. If I were rejected I'd have to sell this phone(though I really love it, I think if I get to unlock the bootloader I'll just flash twrp and magisk and keep the stock or modified stock rom, I've never bought an American phone with so little bloatware and so many useful tools built in) and find another Chinese phone that doesn't require manufacturer permission for root...

Is it a new Xiaomi account? Most likely you will need to be more active with your account to increase your chance of Xiaomi granting you permission to unlock your device.
So go to the Official Xiaomi forums and participate in the polls, contests, and replying to threads to increase your account activity. Do it daily!
Also for the unlock applications, use your forum username as opposed to your real name to increase the chance.

If you don't get approval after a certain amount of time can you request it again? I put my real name because it said not to lie on it... I would really like to keep this phone, but if I won't be able to configure it as I please...

Use Proxy/VPN of china server for submitting your form. It worked for me.

If your application gets rejected, you can always apply again. I followed this guide not too long ago. It says you can use your forum name or real name.

Since I had my account since 2013, I got permission to unlock instantly after I applied. When I tried for my dad's account, he had to wait about a week.

Well my plan is to go to community college (all I can afford) and get a two year degree in IT with a specialty in programming (you learn c++ and Java) so I want to be able to have a career that pays well enough to finance studying various things online.
