Broken screen, phone is still working but need software help ( if possible) - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Guys,
unfortunately I broke my phone's screen. the damage is very little,it is not disturbing. but, there is a cyan line appeard around my notch, which is very annoying. My phone's screen is sometimes vibrating as well.
Do you know how can I disable my top part of the screen? (turn off, while the bottom part is working) just a few pixels where the damage is located. Is it something kernel related, am I right? Do i have any other options to solve it without replacing the whole glass?
cheers

[Q] Help Please With My Screen :( i9100

Hi,
I dropped my Galaxy S2 Yesterday (have no idea if this relates to it) But i plugged it into the charger this morning and everything was blue & some of the screen had turned black and some icons had burnt into the screen it looked like.
After taking it with me because it was still usable, Its not completely black except for maybe the faintest part of blue.
Im running Lite'ning rom, The newest one im pretty sure.
Just wondering if this is a virus? Or the screen is dead. I just cant see how it could suddenly die when it was flat and not turned on.
Phones not under warranty by the way. So maybe you could give me some options?
Thanks heaps guys
Probably the problem is hardware related due to the fall, but you could back all your data and try to do a factory reset to see if it fixes or not. If it doesn't fix maybe you should check your screen hardware.
Thanks for the reply,
I just reflashed Litening with Odin 1.85 and still nothing, I get the vibrations, touch lights, sound ect, But only occasionally a tiny little strip of blue along the top.
How would i check my screen hardware? Because i pulled apart my galaxy s after it died and accidently cracked the screen & Glass
How would i do a factory reset by the way? Since i cant see anything
I'd imagine it's dead. I'd take it to your local store and ask for an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. If you can't see anything, then the screen is either broken or it got disconnected (or maybe some of the ribbons did at least).
Yeah, I just dont really wanna take the phone apart unless i know its likley to fix it.
When i first got it, I noticed it had black splotches on the screen in very dim light on a white background. Nd im guessing id have to almost buy a whole front screen assembly to replace the front screen D:.
Would i be better just to sell the phone how it is? Or repair it?

Need some help, phone is dead, Vodafone playing silly buggers.

Hi guys,
Going to pick my Mum`s phone up from Vodafone today after it was placed in for repair and they stated it`ll be £150 to repair. She took it in as the phone started to bootloop, Samsung screen the reboot. She took it into Vodafone and they sent it off, the answer back was that the "chip behind the screen" was damaged and that was her fault and would cost £150 to repair.
Couple of question, what is the "chip behind the screen"?
If the chip is there what does it do and would it stop the phone from booting?
Is it repairable and if so could it be done at home cheaper?
Should I try a Samsung Service Center instead?
She said that she was having issues with the phone before it died, sluggishness, unresponsiveness and random reboots, then dead.
Cheers in advance guys,
Blinky
"Chip behind the screen" doesn't really mean much. I would ask them to be explicit. Since the screen covers 90% of the front of the phone, almost all the chips the phone has are behind the screen.
Sorry, I have just been informed that she was told it was the chip that controls the LCD screen? I would presume that if the touchscreen chip is dead then the phone would boot to the OS and you wouldn`t be able to control it and if the chip was good and the screen was knackered then you would not see the screen come on.
If the phone is stuck in a bootloop then wouldn`t that be a system board problem?
cheers

yes

Well hang on.....
Its an SAMOLED not LCD, but thats not the main thing I need to identify here. Just FYI, the SAMOLED screen (Display Panel) and the touchscreen, although on this phone, mostly provided in a single unit - are actually 2 individual parts. You do not touch the display panel to get touch input.
Essentially from the outside in, you have:
1) Gorilla glass tough glass protector
2) Digitiser film (to translate electrical disturbances into input)
3) SAMOLED Panel (Display)
I don't really understand what chips control what so what VF are saying still seems ambiguous to me.
But a hardware failure could be picked up by the kernel drivers at boot. The kernel would see an error and a boot loop could ensue, definitely. It just depends on the fault.

[Q] [HELP] Xperia Mini Pro Broken Screen

Hello! So my Xperia Mini pro has been broken, it doesn't show any image anymore, I think there is a problem with the screen but I want a confirmation or recommendation to find out what the problem is.
First the screen "touch" capability stopped working, and then two weeks after that, the back and option buttons stopped working too. And a week after that ,there was like a screen "flickering" (I tried to recreate the problem in the attached image) when I tried to either open or close the slider.
Finally the screen stopped working anymore. I tried to connect the phone to the PC but says that windows cannot recognize the hardware. And there's one more thing: I can turn on the phone, it vibrates, but the keyboard lights seems that are not working, they are permanently off.. and when I try to Increase the volume it doesn't sound either... There is only the black screen and a backlight.
Please Help me to find out what is the problem, I'm thinking to buy a screen replacement on eBay, but some people told me that is the "flex" cable. I'm not sure if there is a fix for my phone's problem.
Thanks!
Hey there.
Based on my experience, yes, your problem is most likey a flex ribbon issue. Your flex has been ripping apart lately, causing many of its wires to break. This can cause a lot of unpredictable problems, such as a misbeheaving notification LED, inactive ambient light sensor, or "dead" display/touch digitizer. Your problems have gotten worse over time, which is clearly a symptom of a broken flex.
You phone is no longer booting up to android because the kernel no longer detects a proper "response" from the display driver and halts the bootup. This is why you can feel the phone vibrating when pressing the power button, but nothing else happens. Your screen assembly is fine, I can assure you that, unless your glass is broken, of course.
Here's one hell of a good teardown guide: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Sony+Ericsson+Xperia+Mini+Pro+SK17i+Teardown/7275
I used that very same guide when I repaired my own xmp. I regret messing with my screen assembly because I destroyed it and had to buy a new one, which is costly
Thank You so much for the advice ! Now I'll try to repair it, It doesn't seem too difficult. Thank You Again!!!

GT-i9300 Display Issue

This may seem a bit strange, but I have an old i9300 that has run into a bit of an issue. The device itself runs fine, boots CM12.1 (Unofficial port, I know), but the issue is that sometimes the LCD Display goes to a point where it's unreadable. It'll look fine on a normal startup (Displays the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 Logo), but then the display dims after that. While in Download Mode, it'll do the same thing. Attempting to reboot into recovery with this display dimmed causes a bootloop. I know that the AMOLEDs don't have backlights, but every so often, the backlight (I know that's not what it's called), will function properly. It's a very strange conundrum. Could it be that either something is loose, or the AMOLED is going out?
There is no backlight on AMOLED, each pixel illuminates individually so your problem is with the screen driver or connections. Water damage can cause the symptoms you describe, first step is to strip down the phone and check the connections.

I gave it a thorough strip-down and checked for signs of water damage, but there wasn't any water damage to be found. I checked the strips that indicate water damage and they were still white. I also checked the connections, reseated them firmly and restarted. I haven't had the issue again since, but it's not a consistent issue, it pops up every so often.

Turning off part of screen

Hi guys!
My phone's digitalizer doesn't work on bottom part but I don't want to replace it right now. Is there any solutions to this? Can I turn off bottom part of screen?
