App that changes ringer volume based on which wifi you're connected to? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I remember bixby routines was able to adjust the ringer volume based on which wifi network you were connected to but the updated one cant adjust the ringer anymore. Now i know tasker can obviously do that but it needs location to be on and i constantly have it off, anything else out there can do this without location being on?

Is it really impossible for Tasker to read the SSID? Funny.

It was able to do that before but in android 8 google changed something so location has to be on to read the ssid. What's funny is that bixby routines doesn't need location to be on so samsung bypasses that somehow but the new routines can't adjust the ringer volume anymore

Possibly found a solution, bixby routines allows you to launch an app with different shortcuts. So i can open the camera app and it goes straight to video or an email app and it goes straight to composing. Just need to find a ringer/volume control app that allows me to edit those shortcuts/profiles.
Found an app that can add these shortcuts https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.punksta.apps.volumecontrol&hl=en_CA then added it to bixby routines and voila it works

Specific NFC tasks

Hi guys.
I'm hoping someone can recommend an app for me for a project I'm working on basically to mount my phone in my car and have it read an nfc tag when it is in there and perform a set of specific actions only while it's in range of the tag.
So essentially the app will know when is in the car and keep maps or torque app open and adopt a certain data/power profile then revert to previous settings when it's removed from the dock.
Does anybody know of an app that can achieve this?
☆ Sent using tapatalk for Samsung Note II ☆
You should take a look at an app called tasker... it requires root tough
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
NFC task launcher will do most of this, but I don't know anything that will reset the state when removed from the tag, I think you would have to tap the tag again, or use another tag to reset the state.
You could just have a second tag for when you leave the car to put phone back to normal
Shame through!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I use Llama, find it more user friendly than Tasker. You'll need to tap the tag twice, apparently Android's API doesn't notify apps that a tag was lost (although it does know about it, that can be seen in logcat).
I'll export my configuration if you want to use it.
Yes please Mohammad that'd be great as it looks like exactly the sort of thing I wish to achieve! Thank you
☆ Sent using tapatalk for Samsung Note II ☆
You'll need
* Car mode control or change the Llama actions enable car mode rather than running this app, the reason I used this instead of the built in function is that it auto launches the car home app, rather than just turning car mode on, and do the same for the off event (again, I used the app instead because it closes car home and returns to default launcher).
* Driving mode widget, this is optional, but it provides an intent that turns on/off driving mode, which is for spoken alerts.
* Rotation locker, locks orientation, invisible notification bar icon only visible when in car mode, so it shouldn't affect you, the service doesn't run in the background when car mode is turned off.
* Llama, obviously
You can hide all the icons for those three apps, you don't need to interact with them yourself.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/68401892/Llama.zip
Put the Llama folder from the zip file in /sdcard, open Llama, open action menu, and import settings.
You will need to reconfigure the NFC events for your NFC tag, rather than mine (I disabled the built in Tags application using Titanium backup, either do that so "Empty tag" doesn't show up or simply format the tag in Llama).
VW Golf is a wireless AP I had in the car, you should probably remove that too unless you have a similar setup.
You will probably need to reconfigure the sounds, they're in the Llama folder, but since it uses content URIs specific to my device you might need to reselect them.
And that's it

[Q] Disable lock screen when driving in Android

Is there any easy way to disable having to input my lock screen pattern for when I'm driving?
I use my phone for music but I never have it docked, so I don't want the screen permanently on. It's just dangerous to have to do my pattern unlock whilst I'm driving. I'm using InDrive app to control PowerAmp but I want to be able to go straight to that by just pressing the awake button on my S3.
So is there anything that will easily allow me to disable this but won't stop the screen going off? Ideally a widget I can place on my home screen.

Well.. I never came across a widget or app like that but there is an option in my rom to disable lock screen. I think there will be an option on your device as well. Just turn it on and off whenever you need.

Cheers. If I go through the menu settings then I can disable lockscreen. It's a bit of a pain to do this every time I get in and out of the car though.
I just assumed this would be a common problem for people using their phone to play music in the car. Seems like it might not be!

Well yeah.. But you got few ops. Disable and enable from settings (lockscreen settings on my phone), or you can make a playlist of your music which will save you from touching your device while driving. Or you can copy your music to a usb drive and plug it to your car's audio system.. Or the most complicated but the most useful thing you can do us try making an app or a script will do the job of enabling/disabling the lockscreen everytime you run it. Well.. Thats something for devs and can be really complicated.. But worth trying..
If you're rooted you can install the xposed framework and per app DPI module, then set specific apps to show over the lock screen such as poweramp so its fully use able while the phone is locked

[Q] Tasker and Turning on GPS

I have the ME7, Rooted Verizon phone. I'm trying to use Tasker to turn on my GPS when it detects BT is connected. Basically i only use BT in the car, so i have it set to have the display brighten, not time out, full volume, etc. so i can use the phone through the car radio. The problem is that GPS won't turn on. I downloaded the extra services thing it said to, but still no joy.
Any help?
Thanks

I have MDK running Tasker but I use start of an app to trigger GPS ON. Can you set your profile to start GPS when you start a certain app?
I also have profiles that when I'm at home or at work (cell near) that GPS is off. GPS may have to be in the default state of "ON" in order to do what you're asking. You may have to create profiles to turn it off as well, but leave the default to "ON". I hope that makes sense to you. Make sure you have the latest version of Tasker: 4.1u3.
I don't think that ME7 to MDK would make a difference in Tasker, but it may.
You need to download secure settings AND install the helper from within it and then to use the GPS on off feature you use the option under plugins>secure settings NOT the one under networks and then edit the configuration for the plugin

SecHolutils & Phone Weaver
I've been using Phone Weaver for my profiles. I have "drive" set up to turn on GPS when I would normaly leave for work, then it turns off at 8am then back on at 4:30, off at 5pm... I needed to download secholeutils.apk and toss it in /system/app and set permissions. Works flawlessly. If I need to drive somewhere during the day, I just hit the "Drive" profile.

In order to do this you will need secure settings and helper and tasker installed assuming you have all this based on this thread
First you will set up two tasks
1) Task to turn on gps
example: Secure settings: GPS on then Flash "Happy Driving
2) set up a DIFFERENT task to turn off GPS using secure settings
create a profile that activates on an app launch. then tasker will require you link this with a task, choose the gps on task.
Next long press on the task (while in the profiles tab not the tasks tab) an option for "add exit task" should appear that will allow you to link the gps off task
exit tasks are tasks that tasker executes when the conditions are no longer true Maps is launched=gps on task upon app close=gps off task is run

If you want to turn on GPS install secure settings and helper from inside secure settings. Your going to need root. When making the task click plugin>secure settings>GPS and select the state you want. (On off or toggle)

Hi,
For me following worked:
Duplicate the Profile where you turn on GPS
Edit the duplicate like this:
invert the selected apps (press the invert button) so all other apps are selected
then set the action to GPS off.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Philipp

While true that will work I would recommend using the exit task option. When you get more advanced with tasker it will benefit you greatly plus the way you said it is kind of "incorrect". It will work in this case but in others it won't correctly

[XPM] XposedMTC - multipe mods for MTCB-Headunits

Discontinued
Due to a lack of free time and newer hardware (MTCD), I am no longer supporting this module. The code is freely available on my github.
XposedMTC -- mods for Huifei/RM/KLD/GS/JY headunits
Right now, the mod consists of the following features:
Change preferred music app from MTCMusic to something else
Change preferred video app from MTCMovie to something else
Ability to override the default mode switch behavior to include only the sources you want (in addition to Music)
Overridden mode switching can add your selected Nav app (in Settings->Gps) to the rotation
Ability to apply Loudness on boot (newer system images persist this setting)
Time-based dimmer and adjustable brightness level when time is outside dimming period
Ability to automatically set dimming start and end times based on current date, timezone, and GPS location (no data connection required)
Ability to learn your radio presets and re-apply them if/when the presets get lost (usually on hard-reset)
3 replacement launchers for user-selected Music, Videos, and Radio apps for non-SWC vehicles
Preference to allow all BT OBD adapters to pair with headunit
Intents to start and stop the XMTC service
Preference to override the stock volume OSD and place volume level in the statusbar
Launcher to manually start the reverse camera view (BackView) -- disabled for now
Screen Filter integration for ultimate dimming control
Changelog
v1.0 - Initial release
v1.0.1 - Added Playerpro control intents -- forgot to change startService to sendBroadcast for Playerpro -- redownload this if you previously downloaded it
v1.2 - Added dimmer control, debug preference
v1.2.1 - Fixed switchpreference controls that were disabling themselves
v1.2.5 - Added replacement launchers for Music, Video, and Radio for non-SWC users
v1.3.0 - Rolled all beta and experimental changes into a stable build
v1.4.2 - Fixed BT OBD override (tested on latest Malaysk rom with a generic BT ELM327 v1.5 adapter with name CBT.)
Things for the future
Hard button remapping -- mtc-keys works for this
Add user-selected app to the mode switch rotation (e.g. Torque)
Fix system crash when Line-In (AUX) source is added to modeswitch rotation
Figure out a way to turn off the backlight completely, and allow it to be mapped to a button press/long press -- Screen Filter integration allows for complete backlight adjustment
Add preference to enable full backlight brightness when BackView is foreground
Add preference to enable dimmer control via headlight switch/illumination wire

This module requires that you first install the Xposed Framework and enable the app_process.
Added the module to the Xposed Repo for easy updating from the headunit.
Don't know if this is the right place for this, but I've searched around and can't find an answer.

How are you switching between PA and Radio? Mode button or launcher icon?
If you're not using a mode button on steering wheel controls, then you have to use the included launchers called MyMusic, and MyRadio in order to properly switch audio sources.
My unit has hardware buttons which launch the sources, so I use those, I did notice launching MyMusic did mute the radio (think it launched MTCMusic), but the "Media" button on the unit just launched poweramp (after changing default app in xposedmtc) and left the radio going.

I believe the proper mtc-keys.ini syntax would look something like:
activity_##=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.Music
activity_##=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.Radio
Where ## is the keycode of that particular button.

Hi,
I have been having similar issue with my Pumpkin head unit which also has hard buttons. I'm running XposedMTC and mtc-keys modules and I'd already used mtc-keys to map my "MEDIA" hard button to music app directly as XposedMTC on its own didn't do it for my chosen music app. When I switch from music app (Mixzing) to Radio the music app is still playing.
I hadn't spotted the "MyMusic" and "MyRadio" activities in the app drawer screen before (only had the unit just over a week) but even using these these instead of the hard buttons the music app still plays over the radio and vice versa (i.e one doesn't stop the other). Shame as when I found your posts above I thought these activities would be the solution to my issue and I could just remap hardware buttons to these with mtc-keys. :crying:

Originally the only supported media player in XMTC was Poweramp, but I've since added PlayerPro, and few others that utilize generic Android intents for control. It's possible Mixzing doesn't listen for these intents, and specific support would need to be added.

Hi agentdr8,
Thanks for the information. I will try Poweramp and PlayerPro as Mixzing is just one of a few alternative apps I'm trying out so not committed to keeping it at this stage. If Poweramp or Player Pro work well for a car head unit in terms of user interface and hardware abilities (i.e. hard buttons working as I want) then I will purchase one or the other.
Will get the trials for each app and give them a try tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Steve

Hi agentdr8,
I have now tried Poweramp and PlayerPro and both will switch the radio off if I use the MyMusic/MyRadio icons. So I tried using the above syntax in the mtc-keys.ini for the appropriate key codes but this doesn't appear to work. I amended them on the off chance that it may have needed to be "MyMusic" and "MyRadio" at the end of each line (as that is what the icons are called in the app drawer part) but either way nothing is triggered on pushing the buttons.

Hmm. I may have to export those activities in the manifest, based on what I read on the mtc-keys info.
EDIT: Since I have an intent filter on those activities, they should be exported by default. The mtc-keys syntax might need tweaking. Try activity_##=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/Radio

I'm getting the same thing. When I change mtc-keys, my home screen just receives a home key press (I think).
If I change activity to app and set a package name, it loads the app, so just an issue with activity_xx not resolving.

Hi again,
Just to update. I am still not having much luck with getting the hardware keys to work. I have tried the following combinations in the mtc-keys.ini file (only one pair at a time) and rebooted the unit each time
43 is my "MEDIA" button and 42 is my "BAND" button which I would like to map to Poweramp and Radio respectively.
activity_43=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.Music
activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.Radio
activity_43=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.MyMusic
activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc/.activities.MyRadio

activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/Radio
activity_43=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/MyMusic
activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/MyRadio
activity_43=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/.Music
activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/.Radio
activity_43=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/.MyMusic
activity_42=com.dr8.xposedmtc.activities/.MyRadio
NB: I tried "MyMusic" and "MyRadio" since that is the name of the icon if you go to the apps drawer.
With some of the above, pushing the hardware button would take me back to the home screen, but wouldnt stop anything playing or launch anything else. To be clear, if I'd launched Poweramp with the MyMusic activity in the app drawer and then pushed the BAND hardware button, the unit would return to the home screen, but poweramp would still be playing and the radio would not launch.
Other combinations would do nothing at all.
Are there any other possible combinations I could try i.e. dots and slashes being in different places?
Just for information to anyone who is going to try and suggest help I know next to nothing about android programming or how apps work behind the scenes so please feel free to be very patronizing in how to possibly get this working in the mtc-keys ini file. :fingers-crossed:

I'll take a look at mtc-keys and figure out what the proper syntax is. It definitely wouldn't be the My* names, as those are just the labels for the launcher icons. The activity classes are named Music and Radio.

You can try writing app_43=package name instead of activity_43=activity. You can find the package name of the application using an app from play store, search for package name viewer.

For most packages, that's fine, as there's only a single activity within it. But with XMTC, the default activity is the preferences, and then there's the 3 My* activities.

Question Seperate Ringer and Notification Volumes

Recently switched from Galaxy S8 to Pixel 6. One of the biggest differences is not having separate volume sliders for ringer and notifications. I've had to resort to assigning notification sounds to "None" in order to silence notification sounds with the ringer volume on. Does anybody know a better solution for this issue?

I've been using this for years. Works really well for me. Toggle in settings to separate ringer and notifications.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=netroken.android.persistalternate
EDIT: I should mention that sometimes when you get a phone call the notification volume will get reset to the ringer volume. But you can reset by going to the native volume sliders and change the volume and then go back to the app to adjust.

Super happy I noticed this thread, because this has been driving me nuts! But....
Your link to the Play Store is broken. (Hopefully it just got cut off during your edit and the app hasn't been removed from Store)
Can you please update link or share name and developer?

The link is working fine for me, but....
Volume Control + by Netroken
The link doesn't work for me either and there is no "Volume Control +" by Netroken in the Playstore, only an app without the plus sign by him, Volume Control.
Even clicking on his name doesn't bring up any + version, so I'm guessing this must be the correct one?

I guess that's the non+ version. Not sure why the link isn't working for you guys. When I click on it I'm directed to the screenshot below. I imagine the regular version will work as well as it looks like it has that same feature.
EDIT: Maybe the link is only working for me because I have it installed? I don't know. Weird...

Maybe it turns into the + version once you donate to unlock the features? No clue, but it's definitely odd lol
You can also try the SoundProfile app - definitely allows me to set seperate ringer and notify volume levels on my Pixel 6.
I have actually combined it with Macrodroid to map my Volume Long Press up and down to set to normal and Vibrate mode - without having to interact with the screen - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-silent-or-vibrate-mode.4352081/post-85908539
Or you can just create widgets to select a specific profile..
Oh and Macrodroid itself also allows you to set individual volume levels for Ringer and Notification. I prefer the SoundProfile app - cos that can show a Vibrate icon in the status bar as well - so you can check with profile is active.
EDIT: Just realised that Macrodroid can also show icon in status bar and even on the lock screen.

Oh yeah. I had forgotten about this. I've used this in the past as well and if I remember it worked pretty well. Not sure why I stopped using it. Going to give it a spin again to see if I like it better than Volume Control +.
