Google Assistant Ambient Mode - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hey Guys, I've bought the phone a week a go and I really like it. I would like to turn on Google Assistant Ambient Mode but i don't see the option toggle. Are there alternatives or maybe a way to turn it on?

If you open the Google app,
go to settings,
then choose Google assistant,
then the assistant tab,
scroll down to devices and choose phone,
turn on option under voice match.
Done! :good:
(Hopefully I understood your question correctly. Lol)

Thank you for your reply! I dont see ambient mode toggle.
I found a screenshot online to explain what i mean:

Ah! Ok, now I understand. And yeah, ambient mode has only rolled out to a small number of phone models, and there's no word that I found on when or if it's coming to LG devices.
We have always on display (AOD), but it's not the same at all. And there may be apps that can do something similar maybe, but I haven't seen any myself.

Disable the swipe up feature for Google Assistant on Mate 10

I recently installed Nova on my mate 10. Every time I try to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the drawer (all apps), both drawer and Google Assistant will show. I tried so many way and did so many research and still could't figure out how to disable this Google Assistant shortcut feature. I drive everyday so I enjoy using Google Assistant to make phone calls when I am driving.
Does any one know a trick hoe to disable this Google Assistant swipe up shortcut in mate 10?
Thanks!
Hi, its simple. Follow this:
1. Go to Settings then search "Default Apps"
2. Select "Assistance & voice input" then select none
Enjoy your new mate
Thank you @deodass, my same problem solved perfectly!
If you do this on Pie, however, you can no longer access Google Assistant in any other manner (as far as I can tell). I have a Mate 10 and am using the off-screen navigation gestures (i.e., relying on the home button). Any thoughts?
Isn't it easier to disable the Gesture?

Read again, I'm using off-screen navigation (I have a regular Mate 10 with a home button). That choice is not offered unless you're using gestures.
deodatts, you litteraly saved my life. I had been searching for months for a solution to deactivate this pain in the a**.
Created this account here especially to thank you !!!! cheers
I want to get rid of it too, but I want to keep Hey Google. When I initially disabled assistant, Hey Google still worked. Then, while looking for a way to change the tts voice (only two options, red and orange, showed up in the Google app) I installed Google Assistant from the Play Store and deleted it afterwards, and "Hey Google" under Voice Match in the Google app settings has been greyed out ever since unless I enable Google as the assist app and not just as voice input, which again enables the annoying swipe up gesture. Any idea how to go back?

What's that icon?

Hi
After I got the December patch I activated the gestures.
now when I swipe from the right or left bottom there is an icon which appears but nothing happens.

That is the new icon for the virtual assistant but if you don't have the assistant activated it won't do a thing

But there is no assistant which I can activate

You must have the Google APP installed...It's literally impossible not to these days, try to settings via the 3 dots on the right corner of the google app, then Google Assistant and see if it's ON.
Cheers,

Ok I thought you mean a assistant from Huawei itself. I don't use Google I deleted it

Ok, for example Huawei doesn't have one so on their China models they have no assistant, not even Google XD

How to remove this EMUI "feature"

When I drag the button of the screen this strange icon comes up. What is its purpose, and how do I remove it? Thanks a lot.

It's Google assistant
Go to settings, search for gestures, go into it then into setting right next to the "gestures" option and turn off Google assistant.

When I swipe right to left and hold, it is working.
Hope you are doing the same.
Also deactivate gestures navigation and check if it works.

wierd update... it started working! i guess its a fluke... this is the choronology of actions i did unintentionally
1. i enabled the one handed mode.
2. i opened kaspersky antivirus app
3. i guess i swiped from bottom of the screen upwards(not intentionally) and voila it asked if i want to allow the app to go full screen on which i clicked ok. than bang! it started working...

it seems the problem is in the app fullscreen mode setting which might be conflicting with one handed mode setting, i think we should tweak it once or twice to resolve the conflict there.

Try to disable all apps using accessibility permission. I don't know which one so you try them all. This not only make one handed mode unusable, it also makes url bar on chrome stop auto hiding

Question How Replace Google Assistant instead of Bixby ?!!

Hi there
I have A52s 5g ( A528B )
Bixby is too slow in process of my Commands .
How Can I replace it with Google assistant ?,
When i install it ffom google play , it gives this error !
From Settings, search for and select Device assistance app. Tap Device assistance app again, and a list of available assistants will appear. Choose your desired option, and then tap OK.
Once done, head back to Settings and you'll see the search button, tap Bixby and disable everything related to. And you're good to go
Forgot to mention that the Google assistant app from the Google store is more of a shortcut. The actual app is embedded in the Google app

Weird message as Google Assistant is installed as default on this phone... ^^
Just need to do a long press on the the middle squared button (Home button) on the bottom of the display and it will popup !
You can then disable Bixby via settings or uninstall it via adb commands if you don't want it anymore.

Thanks guys
