When I swipe right to left and hold, it is working.
Hope you are doing the same.
Also deactivate gestures navigation and check if it works.

wierd update... it started working! i guess its a fluke... this is the choronology of actions i did unintentionally
1. i enabled the one handed mode.
2. i opened kaspersky antivirus app
3. i guess i swiped from bottom of the screen upwards(not intentionally) and voila it asked if i want to allow the app to go full screen on which i clicked ok. than bang! it started working...

it seems the problem is in the app fullscreen mode setting which might be conflicting with one handed mode setting, i think we should tweak it once or twice to resolve the conflict there.

Try to disable all apps using accessibility permission. I don't know which one so you try them all. This not only make one handed mode unusable, it also makes url bar on chrome stop auto hiding

[Q] How to take screenshots after ICS update?

Before the ICS update, I thought taking a screenshot was as simple as holding the recent apps icon. It does not seem to work after the update. Does anyone know how to do this in ICS without third party software or root?
I just tried and it still works for me. Just for giggles, you didn't happen to turn off screenshot mode did you? Before I understood what that pop-up was I had hit YES and couldn't snap anymore screens.

Ah, the setting is under Settings > Asus Customized setting. I do not remember having to enable this before but after the update and factory reset, it was not checked. Thanks.

Back Button Does Not Function

For some reason, my back button has stopped working. Regardless of which button I press, I get the application task list. I can not figure out how to fix this. I have rebooted a number of times and it still does this.
Same thing here! I already contacted Samsung and Sprint, they don't know how to fix it! Take it to the store to get a replacement !
Same Thing here
Everything was working as expected and the two buttons (Back and running apps) stopped working, i made a factory rest and it did not help, I am suspecting the cover that have magnets in it and I removed it, shut down the phone for few minutes but it did not help, I will try extending the time it is shut down and see the results.

Guys, you can try to pass to Simple mode, and then try if both work, if yes, come back to normal Mode.
Leaving the mobile without my cheap cover that have many magnet resolved the issue and both buttons worked again. Please check if you have a cover that is not supported which is probably the reason for these issues.
I have a similar issue with the note pro using a cheap cover which causes issues pushing the pro to standby while being used.
I can not be sure that the cover is the reason for that, however this resolved the issues for me at least for now. I will try to reproduce it again and check,
Left the Phone with the cover on and same problem pops up again, and when I took the phone from the cover the buttons started working again but after few minutes, the buttons goes bad again (without the cover) so the issue is not the cover. Too bad and don't know what to do except to send it for repair.
Here is a "solution" that has worked for me. My S6 is the Verizon variant, but I think these steps will work on any Service Provider.
Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction > Assistant menu
From here, toggle the switch to "ON". This will create a hovering circle with a window with four panes inside it. If you interactive with the hovering circle it will open a new window in which you have access to the back and recent apps buttons via an onscreen button.
Not sure what has disabled the hardware buttons, but this should give you access via onscreen software.
I know it's not a true fix, but a work around.
If someone finds a true fix, please post it! But in the meantime ...
I hope this helps!
Found a Solution for me
My back button stopped to work. After trying many different things.
I plugged my earphoneson in..... and surprisingly . Came back to life.
BAck Button & Open Applications Button Not Working on Samsung Glaxy S7 Edge
Hi
i bought Samsung Glaxy S7 Edge just few days ago, up to yesterday everything was fine, but suddenly back button & Multi folder/Application button stopped lightingup and working.
i have tried all the things i knew, rest, factory reset , cache wipe, factory wipe but nothing is working with me.
i cant take it back to the shop where it was bought from because it was in other country.
Any body else having same issue ? or any suggestion ??
BR
On my Galaxy S6 Edge that if you press the back button with your finger covering the whole button, the recent apps thing comes up. Buuut if you press the right side of the button (but don't cover the whole button) then the back button works.....I dunno why. I have to use the Accessability thingy like some iPhones have though for the most part...if anybody finds a better solution then please reply!!!!!
Here is a tip: if you have problems with a hardware button, try using the application "all in one gestures"to change the functionality of some of the buttons. Some features require root, but most just require accessibility
Root yours and enable onscreen navbar.

Thanks for the temporary fix..
But has anyone got a permanent fix? Having issues with unusable back and recent buttons on my s7.
Buttons were pressed unknowingly whilst in camera mode, perhaps holding down recents button which brings up split screen..looked abit odd when i picked it up!
Very frustrating that there is no fix!
My issue solved by initiating this update.

Get rid of animations in home screen

Hi,
I am on latest version of coloros 7. I have tried everything I know but have not been able to get rid of these home screen animations which look like brackets at the border of the bottom edges.
Please help.
Attaching pics for clear picture. Note the brackets () at the bottom edges.

I have tried resetting themes to default. Home screen settings to different drawer styles. Changing icon types. Assistive ball off.
Everything literally in home screen and lock screen magazine menu.
The thing is it happens only in full screen mode. With navigation buttons, those brackets dont exist.
Btw, do you have these jn your mobile?

Very strange.
What is "Assistive ball"?
Sorry but I can't replicate this on my device.
Maybe someone can help who has the same issue

Ok. Thats new.
Donno why.
There is also a line in the middle which is aligned with the bottom edge. Its not associated with home screen settings. I have no idea what it is.

I have absolutely no idea to be honest.
Have a look and see if there are any toggles you can turn on or off.
One at a time. Check. If no...turn back on/off. Check another.
Just a thought.
As I said...I cannot replicate the issue you have and it is clear that you have some settings on your device that I don't, so I'm kind of looking at this blindly

Ok ok. Thanks anyway ?
On a different topic, could you suggest me a good back cover and screen guard for the device.

No problem.
I still have the original case and film screen protector that came in the box.
Found the solution
This is pretty much a swipe up to trigger google assistant, it appears when you turn on gesture control and it's a prompt (albeit not a very good one) to make you understand how to trigger it .
Since you can't swipe up from the middle to activate the assistant you need to swipe from the corners , do so 5 or 6 times and eventually the prompt disappears.

Question Quick tap - one hand mode

I enable quick tap and it works for a few minutes then does not. Change what it does or on and off works for a sec. What's up?
One hand mode works for a little bit then full screen on it's own.

As much as I don't like to bump a thread I'll make the exception here once.
1. Under system - gestures - quick tap, you can set a few different options for double tap on the back of the phone. I tried a couple of the options but decided to go with open notifications. I exit out and double tap and voila it works. Then I turn off the display or flip to shh or even put it in my pocket. When I take it out it no longer works. If I open settings and close it without doing anything it begins to work again. Wait a few minutes with screen off and it stops working. Am I missing something?
2. One handed mode. Either enable it for swipe down from bottom or a shortcut on the homescreen and it works. But as I'm reading it all of a sudden goes full screen again without even touching the phone.
So if anyone can replicate this behavior I'd be curious. I understand it's not a most used feature but it seems like a bug to me.

I have turned Quick Tap off because it doesn't work consistently for me. As you noted, it seems like it only works once you turn it on and/or you go back to the setting. Maybe this will be addressed in a future update?

I haven't used one handed mode much, so I can't weigh in on this one.

After the last Android update, I cannot click the menu bar or access the pull-down menu.

It's quite annoying. I cannot access the menu bar anymore. Looks like the first cm of the screen cannot be accessed.
If I go to settings, I can use it. In other apps, such as WhatsApp it's not accessible. It happened after the restart when it updated Android to v12.
Does anybody know a workaround?
To be more precise, the upper part of the screen can't be accessed. If I rotate the screen into landscape mode, it's fine. I can also not click buttons or text on the upper screen area. It's about 1 cm from the top. Everything else from down there works.
And as I said in my original post. If I open an app, the upper screen area works as well, so it's not a hardware issue.

Do you use an app like Energy Bar? I reset my phone for the same issue and whe reinstalling each app I found it was Energy Bar causing the issue, I guess because it requests screen overlay permissions?
