Screen Protectors - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Accessories

Does this phone already come with a screen protector? if not, what are the suggested compatible brands?
Thanks

It's going to be a nightmare just like all past Galaxy phones have been.

Normally comes with a thin screen protector which you should leave on , on my note 10+ i took it off and installed a whitestone dome glass protector which was a mistake as the ultra sound finger print sensor became very unreliable , something i only found out when i was ready to send my hone in for repair ( because of the finger print issue ) took off the dome protector and the finger print worked perfectly , whitestone state thier protector works with the under screen finger print sensor.
I see whitestone sell the s20 ultra protector , while there protectors are great ( on my old note 9 ) i shall give it a miss this time.

That's good to know. Did you redo the fingerprints after you installed it? What i read is that you're supposed to redo them all.

For me whitestone dome is expensive. I was using gadgetshieldz screen protector on my S10+ which was of pretty good quality. But I don't see them having the screen protectors for S20 series. I hope they have them soon.

I believe Max Weinbach has confirmed that all S20s come with a preinstalled screen protector.

Yes i redid the finger prints at the start i did not use finger rints until i got the whitestone dome protector , did notice the dome glass was way thinner than the one on my note 9

Looks like it comes with one on already

Ordered a 2 pack of the Whitestone dome protectors. Had a 30% off code. Don't know if it'll work for others.
Code - 30OFF2OZZUH

Is the gadgetshieldz one the spray install one? If so, have you both tried out ArmorSuit? It's the same type of wet install. I've always used them and have been happy with their product. I've been browsing around trying to figure out which screen protector to get also.

There was updated instructions. Cure top and bottom 15 seconds each. Then take it out and press very firmly on the scanner for a minute. Then cure again. It will work 99% of the time. The only time it doesnt work is if your finger is very dry. Like very very dry. And I dont have to redo my finger prints. That's how big of a difference it is when you press on it for a minute then cure fully.

I already have the Whitestone Dome glass on my desk along with the Spigen tough armor case. I'm ready

The phone's off right while you're pressing firmly? May sound like a noob question, but how would you know where the fingerprint scanner location is? Just a general estimate of where to press down? The Whitestone Dome protector looks pretty neat, so I'm thinking of getting it. I just never did that kind of install before, so I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing. Looks pretty easy though by watching the videos. Thanks!

I never really turn my phone off. If anything the light from the screen let you see if you're missing liquid on the sides, and if you leave it on you should be able to double tap the screen and see where the fp scanner is going to be. I know its located higher up this time around. On a scale of how hard I press for a minute. From 1 as a hold and 10 as trying to break it. I'll say a 8. So a very good amount. Just make sure you only cure it for 15 seconds only top and bottom. The light runs for 30seconds before it turns off. Then fully cure after the minute of pressing it.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. Samsung just cancelled my order again. I think I'm done trying to order it. The first one went through fine. I had to cancel to modify my order. The subsequent orders afterwards have all been cancelled. It wasn't meant to be.

Exactly.

I've just ordered the Amfilm Ultra, haven't tried it before but feedback seems to be positive regarding the fingerprint scanner

Yea. I've been happy with my armor suit wet application. I've emailed them about the fingerprint compatibility and they said it'll work. I might go with that again for 8 bucks, if not I might just shell it out for the whitestone. Let us know what you're going to decide.

What screen protector are you going for?
Lots of unknown and untested brands out there. I'm looking for thet tempered glass protection out there that doesn't break the bank.
No Idea, let's see how good the preapplied Protector is. On my prior P9 Lite it lasted 5 Month before i saw some little Scratches.

True, now you mention it the pre-applied screen protector is a brilliant thing to have. It saves us all those early super dread moments while we get accustomed to a larger, slipper and more fragile device ( I come from an all metal, smaller yer sturdier HTC 10). But, as you say it's only a short fix, I'd like to have replacement at the ready for when the scratches do evidently appear.
I think use the preapplied as long as it works. In 5-6 Months the Market will be flooded with good working Screen Protectors, Cases etc.

I'm currently looking at this https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/collections/huawei-p20-pro
I have used ultimate shield before and they've worked well. It's out of stock now. The page is mostly a placeholder until the phone is released. So hopefully it'll be available soon.
Mobile fun have official accessories listed https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/huawei/p20-pro
Anybody have news if rhinoshield is gonna release for the P20 pro?
I purchased this screen protector here in the UK as I didn't want a mis-alignment of the tinted ones to affect the front camera or sensors: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BLQHY5X
It is really good. I did use the glue that comes with it to bond the glass together to the screen to fill in the air gaps, does a great job. It is very light as I accidentally touched some of it and put some on the screen that I simply wiped off. i.e. not like super glue!
Also there are 2 of each item inside just incase or for future.

Initially when I applied it there were slight air gaps all the way round, but much better than no glue of about half a centimetre gap. However overnight all air gaps disappeared and it's perfectly flat right now. No issues so far, really loving it. Obviously lets see in a months time how it goes.

Alternatively contact them to enquire on availability.
6 months on and I'm yet to find a screen protector that I'm entirely happy with.
I've tried these via Amazon:
G-Color Huawei P20 Pro Screen Protector, [Updated Version] 9H Hardness Tempered Glass
OMOTON Huawei P20 Pro Screen Protector - Full Coverage Tempered Glass Screen Protector - [
Ibywind 2PCS Pack Huawei P20 Pro Screen Protector,**Bubble Free Installation Applicator:
G-Color is the best of the bad bunch as it's full adhesive. The issue I have is that it seems to scratch more easily than others and the black surround is slightly wider than that on the device so when viewing white pages you notice that some of the screens is slightly hidden under the edge of the screen protector.
Anyone got any other recommendations?
I use nillkin tempered glass 0.2mm. With my UAG plasma, Ringke Fusion X and Spigen rugged armor case.
Pros: No airlifts, No fingerprint smudges
Cons: Easily chips on the sides.
Already on my 2nd nillkin tempered glass.
hth.
Just bought this two from Aliexpress. The front one is HydroGel screen protector. It is very soft plastic but covers the entire screen. They said the plastic self-healing. True enough, the surface feels like the back of my old LG G Flex 2 (which also have the self-healing coating). I try to make few scratches and they slowly disappeared. As you can see in the first attachment, it is almost invisible and covered all the corners and curves.
For the back, it is transparent 3D carbon fiber vinyl. Really pleased how it turns out.

I have the phone for about 10 months and I still have the pre applied screen protector. It began to deattach after I dropped it few times on the floor, otherwise it would have lasted forever, I suppose

[REVIEW] Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector

Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector
Hey guys, here is my review of the Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector and I must say - I'm converted!!
Read on....(also see the attached pictures)
Contents:
- The tempered glass screen protector
- Screen cleaning cloth (wet)
- Dust stickers
- Microfiber cloth
Installation:
Be sure to do this in as dust-free environment as possible. I like the kitchen for this reason (no carpets for me there), or the bathroom works great too as you can use the steam from the shower to help any dust settle whilst you complete the install!
1. Using the wet cloth helps to give the screen a good clean removing any oily fingerprints and/or dirt.
2. The dry cloth dries the screen (don't worry, the wet cloth doesn't 'wet' it that much!) and the dust stickers are there to ensure any last little bits of dust aren't present.
You'll want to spend time on ensuring there are no little bits on your screen as this can spoil the look, at least to those who won't be able to stop noticing that little eyelash hair in the middle of the screen!
3. Carefully remove the protective layer of the screen protector, keeping the exposed glass side facing down. There is a slight adhesive, of some form, which any bit of dust/hair ending up there may be tricky to remove so make this step as swift as possible, taking extra care. Keep your thumbs/fingers away from that side of the glass to avoid any fingerprints getting stuck there, holding the protector by the side only.
4. Lower the screen protector towards your phone, but don't place it on quite yet. Really line up the protector, looking at it from directly above and I'd recommend using the camera cut out as the guide. Ensure the selfie-camera lines up nicely in the hole but also that the full length of the protector runs parallel to the phone.
5. Once you're happy with the alignment, place the protector on the screen, with the selfie-cam side down first, then slowly but firmly lowering the rest of the screen protector down. Or to say another way, press the top of the screen protector down and then press towards the lower end of the protector, until you reach the bottom speaker end.
6. Some bubbles may be trapped underneath the screen. Don't worry! Use your finger/thumbs to firmly yet carefully press out the bubbles, pressing it out toward's the edge of the screen. You can also wrap a credit card in the dry cloth, and use that as a way to force out some air bubbles.
If you're not happy with the alignment and/or have anything stuck under there, then it is possible to remove and reapply. Do this very carefully though, by using your nail to lift it up from the corner, taking extra care not to fingerprint that side of the protector. Use the dust sticker to remove any bits. Though again, be as quick as possible as whilst that side of the protector is exposed, more stuff might land there!
Impressions:
From being a long time user of the film screen protectors, those being 'wet installed' etc. I must say I have been converted! I did have my hesitations about using glass protection, as a while back I used one and it failed to impress me. Previously I had found this type of material, glass vs plastic film, would add a mirror-like reflection to the screen, even more so than the Gorilla Glass screen that the device already had. Also, with my love of AMOLED devices I found glass screen protectors would detract from the 'deep black' the screen would display, and make such colours more of a grey, which affected viewing pleasure.
But not with this one!!
Feel - I instantly fell in love with how this looked and felt. It has no loss of sensitivity and I have not felt the need to have to swipe harder or change the way I interact with the phone. It feels just as responsive as it did prior to installation!
Looks - There is no glare/mirroring effect and so as far as it's looks are concerned, it's practically invisible! The screen colours look as vibrant as they did before and blacks still look as deep as they did
Fit - As you can see I have this installed with this rugged case and it fits PERFECTLY. This case slightly lips over and so there is no dust being trapped around the edge of the screen protector. I'd presume it will also be compatible with other cases too, as it is full coverage, going right to the edges with it's own bezel, not just covering the screen.
I highly recommend the use of this screen protector, for the added peace of mind that the screen is further protected against scratches etc.
Any questions please do ask!
@cd993 thanks for the nice review. I also normally don't like the complete glas, but bought a similar one. I'm also quite happy with it except one thing which disturbs me a little bit. Mine has the black frame around it ( which is in itself not a problem) and this is taking away just a tiny bit from the screen (maybe half a millimeter on the left and right). Is it the same with your one ( from the pics it looks like it also has the black frame). That it take away a bit of the screen is only noticeable when using apps which really starting text completely on the left side ( like the netguard log for example )

Email them, perhaps they'd be willing to...
I have applied this protector too....
Always had phones without screenprotector because I hate them... It takes away the feel of the phone... Bubbels underneath glass etc etc.
Bought it because I saw some scratches on the screen coming.
So after this positive review gave it a try. But man I must say it's a great quality.
Applying is very easy off course look for dust... Becaue I had one.... Took it off which is very easy to do... Rinsed it off under water....
Take two was a succes.... Didn't dry it just putt it on the phone and wipe wipe wipe and a lot of patience....and rubbing. It was bubble free.
But glad I did it.... In fact I find the screen better looking.. Bit of 3d effect...
Fp and typing is as normal.
Only con its a bit heavy....
Don't compare this to a 5 dollar screenprotector which is also the reason why I hated them.

I'm using a chinese version but have some issues. The protector have some kind of bend and it causes a bubble impossible to remove just in the front camera. Because of that my front cam don't focus right.

@cd993 from the pictures you attached it seems the screen protector has real curved edges. Am I right or is just my impression? If you could add more pictures where we can see how curved are the edges without the case, I would appreciate.
I'm looking for a good screen protector that has curved edges so I can use a slim cover.
Currently I have a Cafele full screen protector (bought on AliExpress for 4 USD), which is good and has a nice feeling, looks very similar to this one, but it doesn't have curved edges and because of that it doesn't stick very well in the corners, if I use a slim case.
Thanks.

S21 Ultra comes with pre-installed screen protector. A Samsung representative confirmed this to me. I don't know about the S21 and S21+, but my guess is that it is the same.
yes mine comes with a pretty good screen protector and i dont know if i should remove it or not since i think it give a little bit of yellow tint to the screen!
have to find a screen protector first before removing it , i did go nude for my note 8 and its ****ed up on the screen so ill try to be more protective of this beauty from now on!
The S21 vanilla comes with an integrated screen protector as the S20 did.
My exynos S21 purchased in Dubai came WITH a screen protector on. Have not taken it off yet but even with the screen protector on the fingerprint reader is miles better than the version on my S20+ without the screen protector.
It may even have a screen protector on top of the screen protector.
Mine does NOT have a preinstalled screen protector. Unlocked Ultra 512GB directly from Samsung
got my 21 plus unlocked from samsung no preinstalled protector just a peel off piece of plastic it has a pull tab on the top right.

Mine too!!
mine came with one. feels like some sort of plastic film like the s10 had on it. Peel off the packing plastic and its obvious.
It has x2 screen protectors rip the first one off or finger print sensor wont work they should state this lol anyway it has a second one on so all good.
Would anyone that has a screen protector preinstalled be able to take a pic of it? I can not see it or feel it. and i dont want to end up putting a screen protector on another screen protector.

The screen protector has a hole for the front camera.
The factory screen protector is rather good I must say, it has an oleophobic layer so the fingerprints come off quite easily and I don't see it creating chromatic abberation which sometimes happens with cheap protectors when there is any liquid like sweat on the display. Of course being perfectly aligned and without any dirt or air bubbles is also a plus.

Interesting. I looked at the camera to see if I could see it or feel it, but I couldnt find anything. I dont understand why some have screen protectors and others don't. Oh well. Thanks for the help.
Nope, no protector here. Bought unlocked s21 direct from Samsung upgrade program. With Gorilla glass 3 may not bother.

Question Screen Protector Recommendation ( impact Protection+Fingerprint Unlock)

Dear Community,
Received a S23Ultra and now I am on the lookout for a glass(but not limited to) screen protector which allows for working Fingerprint Unlock. I wrote Glass because i guess something like the whitestone dome would dissipate the impact forces in the glass protector, instead of transmitting it to the screen. Previously i know zagg had a impact protective Film, but now they changed their products too much, it confusing.
What is your experience ? what do you recommend ?
Thanks
My phone is due to arrive tomorrow and I'll be trying these screen protectors. I've looked through all the usual brands I'd use but the S21 was a nightmare with the fingerprint reader so I had to keep it bare in the end. So, I'm going to try these and will report back ASAP.

Thanks, i just ordered the whitestone dome tempered glass, although in the past with my s10 I had it crack in my hose pocket . Most probably will order some other, based on other ppls experience as I expect it not to hold up too long

Thanks for the tip, if that one has no issues with the touch, fingerprint. And no ugly cutout for the fingerprint area then its a good candidate
I bought this.

Can't say I am overly happy with it though. I hate screen protectors with borders around the tempered glass, which wasn't mentioned in the description.
inwas looking at that one.also but you could see the black border in the pics and I'm am.guessingnit only has glue on the outer edge. I ordered the same.brand but the one that has the UV light.

Hello, You are not too satisfied because of the borders or the sensitivity of the fingerprint?

A bit of both. It also doesn't want to stay fully down for me. The edges have lifted but there is a second one in the box. The rear camera covers though are great.
I brought this one, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004031147265.html
I previously had one from Mocolo and their glass is silky smooth, you can definately feel the difference between other brands.
It also works fine with fingerprint sensor!
So, just to update this thread with my choice at the moment. I installed this whitestone dome glass, fingerprint works after readding my fingerprints(actually worked with the saved ones from the naked glass but slower/had to press firmly) and now it works better, but still noticebly slower than without the protector. Having face unlock with this also on, i find it a good tradeoff.
Tbh , on my s10+ had the same glass and on some vacation found it crack in my jeans , so lets see how long this will last. Probably i will buy some other cheaper brands mentioned here after this first glass cracks. They have a really cool and easy installation procedure, got a nice fit. The glass has some dots to ensure an even separation from the screen glass, so i guess the impact protection is better that way given the depth which allows the forces to dissipate inside the hardened glue.
BR and thank you for sharing your choices of glass protectors with fingerprint working!
I use Zeelot. Fp working good and it's tempered glass

23ultra is more flat... i wonder if the adapter will also fit to align the screen protector. For s22u is half price cheaper than for 23ultra and i already destroy one because of dust and second in almost perfect but still some dust on the edges. I like Samsung protector as feeling with finger is almost like original gorilla glass. And it is not easy peel off on the screen edges... But i can't find anyone who already try it.
Ok I have used AmFilm for years. No issues with it sticking and fingerprint sensor worked. This year with the s23 ultra they are using different glue that doesn't stick well. Screen starts coming off for me after less than 24rs. Good product in the past terrible product now. Unless they update the glue there product this year is garbage.
On a good note I just installed the IMBZBK. Sensor working great and glue seems to be stronger. Still too early to tell but will give you guys an update after a week or so.

I installed the Samsung one. It's plastic not glass. It's fine. Hardly notice it.
I had previously installed a glass one, but I prefer the Samsung one.

Problem with film protector is that it is not very smooth hence hindering playing game which require quick and precise swiping (rhythm game)

Actually so far the Samsung one feels great.
My Ringke lasted exactly one week before delaminating. I will install the spare but then probably move to something else.

Question Biometrics huge problems

I have a huge problems with ****y S23 ultra. I had tempered glass screen protector... I had huge problems to add fingerprints.... after a day noone worked... I have to set new recordings after every day....
I gave up and bought plastic screen protector.. everything working great.... after a day again no fingerprint can be read..... I hate this phone.... is there any other solution? On S20 there was an option to remove battery optimization on com.biometrics app....
Thank you
I had same problems with a glass protector - i had to press very hard to recognize my finger.
Now with matte folio i dont have a problem. Have you resetted your fingerprints after instaling the new protector?
Deceiving thread title. Even the cheapest screen protector works very well with Samsung's in-glass finger print sensor.
Please be so kind and change your screen protector with 10 dollar one, you'll be fine.
Don't create thread to everything.
Not all tempered glass is capable of FPS. Option is to use a Hydrogel screen protector or just buy the tempered glass with hole on the FPS portion which looks like sh*t.
There is also what they call a Dome Glass that can make FPS work, but the attachment uses some sort of a liquid glue. Just make sure to avail the one that doesn't stick like a super glue

Man, i have tried 4 different brands tempered glass, 2 of them was with thinner glass on the fingerpring area - all didnt work good or didnt worked at all. I had many phones before that, never had this problem.
I have used a cheap matte plastic screen protector on the S21U, S22U and now on the S23U with no problems whatsoever with enhanced touch sensitivity turned on.
I have the same problem. Fingerprint reader is s* on S23U. I've tried many different screen protectors and it still sucks. My previous phone was Huawei P30 Pro and the fingerprint scanner was amazing even with a $1 protector on it.
The moment they tried to install that ass looking protector with the hole in the shop I was thinking what's going on here and what's wrong with a fingerprint reader.
This sux. So I have to try different sceen protector.... that could be expensive
Which one do you suggest, that wors 100%?
Is there any option to have them install screen protector?
i use samsung screen protector and i do not have any issue with biometrics... I don't even use enhanced sensitivity. Om my local forum everyone that use Whitestone Dome Glass have no issue with biometrics too, they put it exactly like in instruction using this metal weight during mounting. Some ppl that experiment with other brands have issue here and there.
I have use the Spigen Neo_flex and works great only issue is that like to smudge with fingerprints easy, and the I have the offical one on the S22 ultra and work great too, I have official one coming for my S23 ultra, for me the FPS works no better or worse than my S22 ultra.
Have you tried recording multiple copies of your fingerprints, in my experience, this vastly improves recognition?
1st, no screen protector the finger print reader is not the best... Cool tech tho, but not perfect yet.
I went to a cellphone shop, and the guy told me not only glassprotector will limit the reliability, but this reliability will change overtime.
- He proposed to me a film of gel protector, which I did use for few weeks, and indeed , it was like no protector at all. +/- 90% success rate.
- Then tried Axessorize Amor gLass, the matte spot bother me. around 50% success rate on multiple register same figer trick.
- Then tried those UV glass Ni-shen. Depite the fact those glass dont stick and do bubble, I have around 70-75% success rate with again same finger registered many time.

Maybe you have defect one, I never had issue with the FPS on my 22ultra or the 23 Ultra, I know people complain of it, but if your thumb is really dry that effects it, and its ultrasonic, not optical like lot of the other phones that have the in-display finger print reader, I like the samsung better since when I`m on the lake with my seadoo and in the water and my hands are pretty wet it still works, the optical ones won`t work unless you dry your thumb.

Doubt, I had 2x S23, was the same.
My hand are all over the place. Calm and no coffee = dry.
Sport or coffee or both = sweaty.
Most reviewers state the same. And this is partially because 4-5 years ago, we were use to ceramic one.
Those are way faster, and 99% success rate.
100% sure this is because people comparing 2 different technologies, and expect the same result. Under screen reading, is somewhat recent, and has a hader challenge to read between pixels a small print that never get positioned the same way each time

I use a Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector myself (been using them ever since they came out).
It works fine with fingerprints.
With all screen protectors one needs to increase touch sensitivity in Settings-->Display-->Touch sensitivity.
Yes, Dome Glass uses a UV-activated liquid glue. It comes with a jig to assist in placing the protector on the screen and a UV lamp to cure the glue. For me, the installation jig makes the procedure smooth and flawless every time - no bubbles and perfect placement of the protector. I would not use any other protector than the Dome Glass one.
I used to use the AmFilm but there glue is crap this year. The best for me now is the IMBZBK tempered glass UV glue installation. My fingerprint sensor with glass on works as good as with screen protector off. 95 percent success rate with glass on. Follow the instructions and you should have a perfect installation with this glass.

I have the exact same bad experience with FPS with tempered glass screen protector on, sometimes it works perfectly but other times it doesn't work at all, it's so frustrating...
I had Huawei P30 Pro and the FPS worked flawless everytime with any screen protector I've used.
Or y'all could save yourself some trouble and stop using sh***y screen protectors in the first place and you wouldn't have these problems.

I tried that one and finished in the garbage, bad quality product, is a screen protector that covers the front cam degrading the picture quality. Screen protectors should not cover the cam. Even from that brand I tried the camera lens protectors and after a while I saw slight scratches on it, now I have another brand that works fine.
The only way to not having issues with the FP is having a TPU screen protector and that's it, I have one and I have a rate of 80%-90% aprox and I will live with it.
Another very important point is this FP reader doesnt work at best with very dry skin, put your finger in your mouth, blow your humid breath and it will work better. I do this sometimes with other FP readers like when I enter in my house.
That is not true. If you install the glass correctly you won't have any issues with camera or fingerprint sensor. My accuracy is in the high 90s with the glass on. In all honesty don't feel any difference between glass and no glass.
