Why is there such a lack of development for this phone? - Samsung Galaxy A50s Questions & Answers

I was wondering if there are any reasons why development for the A50s is so dead. Is this phone just harder to develop for than others?

Probably because it's an Exynos phone. It's easier to develop Snapdragon builds. CMIIW

looks like the devs are using a50 , not a50s i guess

How can I create a rom for Huawei P9 or Samsung Galaxy S7 (Edge) from Stock Android

My last and my current smartphones were nexus devices. Since google revealed the pixel I thought about other smartphones. But I don't like update speed from non-google companies.
How difficult would it be to convert the current Stock Android (for example android 7) to the Huawei P9, OnePlus 3 or the Samsung Galaxy S7 or any other top device.
And how much time would you need to support also the curved Display from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or to support the notification button from the OnePlus 3 and the fast charging.
To myself: I would say that I am quite good at Java but not in a professional way.It is just a hobby.
In general: If I buy the latest smartphone of a company like Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus or LG would it be possible to convert the current Android version to my device? How much time would I need for that if I only want the Stock Android functions and the fingerprint sensor (Cyanogen features are not needed) and how long would I need if I also want to support the device specific features like a pen or a curved display?
How dangerous would that be? Breaking my device would be pretty easy right?
If that is possible how do I convert the Stock android to my device?
Thanks a lot
p4
short answer: very difficult. Huawei uses custom SoC from HiSilicon, and the specs for these chips is not published. similarly for Samsung devices using Exynos chips. Samsung phones running Qualcomm have a better chance.
if you want to learn to build AOSP (or something like CM), start with the AOSP documentation, then the CM wiki. Or go to the device forums here and check if someone has already started progress. for Huawei and Samsung (exynos), it's a long journey.
it goes well beyond knowing Java.
relatively speaking, modern devices are tough to permanently brick as long as you don't touch the bootloaders.
Thanks for the answer

Where Are the Roms?

Hi All
I Was thinking of getting me a s6 edge, but i am now shocked to see that small amount of custom Roms.
Why is that??
Regards Ken.
The exynos platform is not open, so the only roms available are thr stock based one... A port of lineage is in development, but really slow, and only one is working on it
Thx for the answer.. did not know that about exynos.

Community development strength

You're a power user. Can the Xiaomi Mi A1 keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Xiaomi Mi A1. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No kernel source after 4+ month.
Community development will die this way
I just found this one. I hope its true!!

Appearently the sources have been just released : https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-needs-to-adhere-to-the-rules-of-android-832599/
Development is dead. No real progress from the time we did not have sources to the time when we have sources. Sorry mates, I personally do not have knowledge to build roms or kernels myself, else I would ahve contributed. We have a semi functional build of LOS 14.1 and that is all we got.
Development pretty much dead i think. Developers shows no interest to develop for the device anymore, this pretty much caused by Xiaomi themselves.

Sadly it looks that way, maybe something will change, redmi note 5 was released last week and already have official twrp and first custom rom.
But mi A1 is still a great phone, it will get androdi P and I personally love stock Android.
I'd say pretty healthy, especially loving the italian dev community
Plenty of ROMs nowadays for our MiA1.
Any change since mid-April? I'm considering moving on from my Galaxy Note 3 onto this device, since it has all the latest features I'm looking for. (Dual cameras, fingerprint scanner, USB-C port)

Wonderful development community !

Can someone explain to me why this topic is important?
What are the benefits from a "strong community development"?
Thanks

The principal benefit is a long life of updates.

As of now, there are no samsung phones with a snapdragon 625 chipset, so porting the rom can be a bit tough, or maybe impossible especially considering that samsung never releases the source code of their touch wiz os.

Don't care about Bixby, just the whole rom with looks, touchwiz and everything.

Project Treble For Honor 5X

Hello everyone
Has anyone tried to port Treble to this device?
It doesn't seem that way, but we should. Porting project treble to this phone would make it future proof and compatible with a huge number of other ROMS out there. Then, devs could focus on the ROMs themselves rather than supporting individual devices. I wish i could help out, but I dont know much about android coding.
