Information! - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Just got my 10 Pro delivered yesterday and for the most part it is absolutely fantastic. However for those in the UK like me considering (wait for the global) I say this as on the Chinese version Band 20 is disabled and you won't be able to get 4G.
Having bought many Chinese devices Vivo, Oppo this was the first one for me not to support band 20. I never looked into it as from previous all was fine.
Currently there is no way from what I have read to get band 20 working , So consider this before you purchase.
That aside I'm delighted with it ......:good:

I have one to, I can't get 4G on O2 but I get great 4G on Vodafone. What network are you on?
It's shame there's no way of getting band 20, I was hoping it could be unlocked. Didn't realise until it was delivered [emoji24]

I'm with Tesco Mobile (essentially 02) but have tried with my Voxi sim which is Vodafone and that doesn't work either , let me try again though, if it's working for you then I'll try adding the APN settings manually for the Voxi Sim :good:

Vodafone uses band 20 for 4g but has 2 other bands also, you must be in an unlucky area that only has band 20, in a few months 5g will be up in more places so I'm not too worried

[Q] No network on Unlocked titan 2

Hello guyz
I suggested my bro to buy a titan 2 so he bought maniacstore DOT COM (forums not allowing to post links)
so he agreed as the phone was unlocked & the specs were great at this price point
He got the phone today but the problem is whenever he inserts his sim (NOT mini sim) he doesnt gets any network, im damn sure the phone is unlocked bcoz it doesnt asks for unlock code when he enters his TATA DOCOMO sim card...yes, we live in India
I've searched the web but with no luck so finally i saw no other choice than asking experts like u guyz...plz help i dont want to get blamed
PS:- will hard reset work...i read somewhere on web about this
there were 2 instances where he got network & then it again disappeared
Do you have LTE-network in India? What band widths do have? These are the networks the phone is compatible with:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE
850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G - UMTS/HSDPA
UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz
and 4G LTE

A word of the wise...a carrier with one star average from 329 reviews from this web site would have me take notice if I were you; next here in the US and many other places there is eBay...one of the things I've learned along the way is what a company is selling or advertising is not always the truth. You need to find out if this phone is "clean". You need to find out what the network specs are for this carrier and if they are compatible with the Titan II and please do your homework. I never heard of this carrier until now; I did a Google Search and found this - http://www.mouthshut.com/mobile-operators/tata-docomo-mobile-operator-reviews-925107377 and this - http://www.tatadocomo.com/customer-care.aspx
You have try with HTC Connection Setup?
##3282# >>setings >> Network type >> 2G only or 3G only.
I have a htc titan 2 in CLARO Colombia and was working form arround a month and now doesn't work , i have tried in the 3 companies, claro, movistar and tigo
any suggestions
thanks!
Perhaps your phones have been IMEI blacklisted? By the way does anyone knows where can I buy an HTC Titan 2? This model never got launched here in Europe. Cheers

Sprint S6 Edge unlock LTE for international use?

Hello guys,
I just got a S6 Edge purchasing from US.
I recently discover that it was from Sprint, and since I'm living in Europe - to be specific Czech Republic, I couldnt get the LTE signal.
3G is working tho.
In setting, there is something like activate phone and uicc unlock and so on.
Can somebody give me advice about what I need to do in order to use it on LTE?
Thanks a ton!
How did you get it unlocked for international use in the first place??
Well, to be honest, I didnt know. When I received the phone, I just put my Czech Sim in there and it just works. Except LTE

No network will work on the Czech republic because the antennas on the phone aren't made for most European frequencies including the Czech Republic.
The only way you can get around it is by using 3g or getting a new motherboard which will cost you around 300 USD.

Sorry for the earlier comment.
Can you try these steps:
Prep.
Make sure you're rooted. You can use root checker from play store
If you're not rooted then follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6-edge/general/root-sprint-s6-edge-available-t3079114
then
1. dial ##3282#
2. then click edit (for MSL code - install msl reader from playstore)
3. then click LTE
4. It will show LTE ( also known as Band 25), Band 3, Band 26, Band 41
5. Enable all bands
6. Reboot
Did you found any solution?
could not find the msl reader for the samsung sprint note 4 from play store please give the location of the msl reader or the apk

LTE bands

Am I the only one who is mad that no one is following apple on the one thing they did perfectly? Apple has almost every LTE band you could need in one device. I travel for work a lot, I have to go to Japan and middle East. The bands in the American nexus devices lacks every band used in Japan on DoCoMo (1,19,21) except the 5X has band 1.
Right now I'm debating nexus 6P (can't do a 32GB device do no 5X) or the iPhone 6S plus. I'd grab the nexus in a heart beat if it had the bands I need. Ugh I hate these decisions lol.

Aye I know it has the Japanese bands, and all of AT&T's current bands, missing is the T-Mobile band 12 and AT&T band 30. I'll probably get the international version, assuming I can order it (may have to order from Google Japan) I just want as many bands as possible for the ability to easily change carriers.
Maybe someone will do what was done for the Moto N6, combine most of the bands into one QCN file.

Is this due to licensing, physical, or software limitations (binaries not supporting certain bands)?

Licensing or physical (no one would be able to tell until they have the devices). You have to pay per band for licensing, and some bands need certain filters and amplifiers that are external to the modem chip. Those obviously cost money so sometimes aren't included (though sometimes are just not activated in software since they could save money by not having to retool the production lines to make different models)

Well we know band 12 is just locked right now for Tmo, but should be available by launch.

This is admittedly where the iPhone just crushes any android device honestly. My ex went to Canada and had excellent service. She then went to Italy and the UK and never had to swap sim cards (some kind of T-Mobile service) and had 4G everywhere. Obviously she wasn't thinking of LTE bands, but I was impressed when she told me about it. But I now have to worry about phones that support bands in the UK and U.S.

Aye, though T-Mobile will show LTE (since that's what it connects to) its still throttled though which is why I get local SIMs overseas.
I'm honestly thinking of buying a 6S plus for myself for Christmas. Great LTE coverage and maybe I'll save money buy not buying a new phone every few months, since there's only one new iPhone a year (not counting the 2 sizes) lol.

Dennis, I currently live in Japan, and use DoCoMo. According to the DoCoMo rep I spoke to on the phone, DoCoMo uses bands 1, 3, 19, 21, 28.
Are you saying the American version won't work at all? The difference in price between the American and Japanese versions of the nexus 6P is laughable. ¥74,000 to ¥59,000 yen respectively.
I'm in Japan right now too. The only band the US one has is band 3. I don't know where or how saturated band 3 is, or if it would work well. I'm debating very much right now. Buy nexus 6P for $800 and get the 128GB and stay with Android, hoping it works for the next few months here. Or buy the iPhone 6S plus and get less storage for more money and have to switch to iOS.
Edit: meant $700 for the 128GB N6P (approximately after tax), the 64GB iPhone 6S plus is $849 before tax. Ugh.

I have a question. Are you guys getting LTE signal on N6P? When AT&T activated my new sim for N6P, I'm getting an H signal. I asked the guy at AT&T said it's HSPA+. Weird, because when I was on my N5, I was getting "LTE" from AT&T.

Where do you travel to? The 6P will work in most countries around the world. It has Band 2/3/4/5/7/12/13/17/25/26/29/30.
Most of Europe will be fine. Most of Oceania is fine. Most of Asia excluding China and Japan. All of North and South America works.

Hello,
I managed to have LTE Working on te Fido/Rogers Network.
Without modifying anything with QXDM
Juste do that (Test with Rogers and Fido)
Modify directly the APN default with ltemobile.apn (for fido and rogers) and restart the phone
Next check the mobile Networks available and you will have Fido 4G or Rogers Wireless 4G the network will switch automatically on 4G.
I believe in this case only the band 7 is used but LTE Discovery can't show me the band i use (even with root)
Urban legend? AFAIK it was legit when it worked with the Galaxy s5.
Hello,
I tested the LTE on the band 7 today with Fido/Rogers
And so far so good

Even with your suggestion, I'm unable to use band 7 for Rogers, however the tower is like couple of kms away (3-4) so maybe that's the reason why I'm unable to reach it. What I did and that may be the reason why I'm unable to reach it, I reinstalled completly my phone through fastboot since I wanted to remove anything that the seller could have added...
Since I can't connecct on lte, ltemobile.apn removes me of any Internet I could get, I put back internet.com and it was working again but slowly.

Last question on my side, do you use the sim card in slot one or in slot 2 or an hybrid one? I start to think that maybe slot 1 can only achieve 3g connection. I saw couple of answers leading that way.

VOG-L04 Owners in USA - We need your help!

I'm starting this thread to provide a more direct way for owners of the VOG-L04 P30 Pro variant to post some findings for people wanting to buy in the US.... Primarily if you can provide screen captures to prove some of the following:
1. With TMobile or ATT Sim in, Does the phone have wifi and / or VoLTE (use the cell network info app in the play store
2. Do you have wifi calling as an option in the network settings menu with ATT / TMobile Sim in?
3. Where / How did you get your phone? Buy online, cross the border, etc.
4. Any additional info you may want to share
With Band 66 on this phone and the possibility of better compatibility in the USA, we need your help to determine if we should wait for the L04 to become more available or just buy an international L09 / L29 if there's no real added benefit
Help us L04 owners, you're our only hope.....
Yeah, same. Wondering if Canada / Latin America variants have slightly better coverage in the US>
Im interested also
Me too! I believe there is a lot of interest regarding us "USA" consumers trying to find a better fit.
My AT&T SIM has been inactive too long, or I could help out. I'll see if I can obtain another one.
I got mine.
I live between USA and Peru. I just upgraded my plan and got the huawei P30 pro 256gb VOG-L04. For us$600.
Now is I am in San Francisco and using it. In peru I have volte and wifi calling option. But when I change sim cards.. The phone locks those options. Probably os because the phone is unlocked but attached to a carrier..
I get lte speed on 35 to 60 mbps in San Francisco using band 4. I don't know where to find lte 66. I will go to Guenerville, nyc. Boston during the next weeks and try the reception.
I highly doubt it will have VOLTE or wifi calling in any of the US carriers.
VoLTE looks to work just based on call connection speed, etc. Even though there's not a toggle for it. Wifi calling is a definite no
Don't count on getting WiFi Calling or VoLTE using AT&T SIM on VOG-L29
Unlike iPhone where iOS can download carrier settings, Andriod does not.
My dual sim L29 bought in Thailand will have VoLTE & WiFi calling options for all local SIM inserted. When I insert my AT&T, the two options disappears. I can get WiFi Calling using the same AT&T SIM in my iPhone X no problem.

What SIM card did you put in at the switch (carrier)? I think if you reset the phone to factory, then put the US SIM card, you may find you have those features. Just trying to troubleshoot everything here......

Actually it does. The first SIM card you put in dictates what "features" the phone downloads, the bloatware, if you will.
I put my local sim card. The option of carrier aggregation is on. With the tmobile sim card some options are off, like volte a d wifi calling. With my local sim card those options are on.

Not necessarily - it depends on what firmware the phone has. Phones sold in HK and most of SE Asia are, by law, unlocked. Bloatwares and "features" are already there with the out-of-box firmware.
When you update your firmware - that's another story.
Any updates on a reasonably easy way for USA customers to purchase this model? I'm almost ready...
I am headed to Germany in a few weeks again, I keep drooling over the UK model and I keep touching it fondly....
I dont really wanna give in and get one if the canada version fits better for north american customers.

We do know that the Canadian (Americas Model) has Band 66 as opposed to the International Versions... Its on Huawei site... So that's confirmed... AT&T and T-Mobile use Band 66 (launched 2016, 2017)... not everywhere as it is a newer band. Band 66 is an extension of Band 4.... What does that mean? From what I gather and someone maybe able to clarify that is a little more familiar with it, if a phone supports Band 4 and Band 66, it allows for more LTE headroom which results in faster speeds... not necessarily better reception...
With that said, I have the L29 on T-Mobile... do I notice any differences than the other countless phones I've had... No... but Band 66 may also not be a huge thing in Indianapolis either meaning there's nothing to test. In other words, the L04 is more compatible on paper... Is it a deal breaker... probably not. Especially when you can get the International Version on amazon.es shipped Global Priority with arrival by April 30th (if not faster) 256GB / 8GB Version for $918 USD... That's a deal... It hard to even find a L04 256GB / 8GB and good luck getting it at that price, even with the exchange rate.

Is that a no?
For me a no, living in Indianapolis. For you, living somewhere else where Band 66, it could be yes it does matter to wait for L04. Really depends on your current phone and cell company, does your current phone support band 66? If no, and you’re fine with it’s connection speeds for 4G LTE then get a L29... it subjective to the person and requires self research...

Might be a trade off....
Canadian Version will probably be a single SIM, but might have the necessary firmware to support AT&T's VoLTE & WiFi calling.
The former is hardware and can not be changed, the later is software/firmware. For me, Dual SIM is a must so it's an easy choice for me.
Why not get the L29 and try to get Canadian firmware? If that's doable...
