Yota 3+ missing mirror 2back app.. what reader are you using? - YotaPhone 3 Questions & Answers

Hello, I ordeder on Aliexpress Yota 3 / 64GB with plan to flash it later to Yota 3+, but I was suprised, I got Yota 3+ already flashed in phone. There are apps for eInk screen - YotaSnap, 2048, Chess, Sudoku, Checkers, YotaCamera, Second Screen.. but I did not find mirror2back function or aplication, is possible to add it somehow?
Also I migrated directly from Yotaphone 2 and I am missing YotaReader app, I see there is reader from Google, but I have hundreds of books in epub and so far I did not find way how to open it using Google reader. What reader are you using for Yota 3?
Thanks,
Michal

I switched from Yotaphone 2 to Yota 3 too.
I used FBReader, however there are no nice widget like it was on Yotaphone 2.

I tried FBReader too, but some things I didnt like... so I found another - ReadEra and this I really like.. use so far 2 weeks so I will see..
Regarding to Mirror2back - I discover it after some time - long press power button > Move app to second screen
So last anoying thing is often charging.. I think the power management of Yota3 have some issue because if I let phone overnight as it is (4G network active, BT active, location ON) then it consumes 10% of battery, when I turn on Battery saver mode, then it consumes also 10% overnight (no using of course - during 23:00 - 6:30)..

Hints for painfully slow NATPC M010SE?

This tablet was purchased about 6 months ago, and has slowed down to the point that it is now no longer usable, even though I very rarely use it and have only installed 7 apps on it (and have used only 169MB of memory - 839 remaining). I frequently get messages saying "xxx is not responding - would you like to close it?". I even get this for the launcher app. For example, I frequently have to tap app icons several times before the screen responds. I have tried rebooting but it doesn't help.
Is there any way to diagnose the performance problem - e.g. to find out whether there is a specific app running in the background which is causing the performance drag?
The apps I have installed are:
- Mantano Reader
- Google Maps
- Mah Jongg game
- Dropbox
- Folder Sync
- Adobe Reader
- Photo Frame.

[Q] Z2 Prepurchase Questions

Hi!
I have finally decided to upgrade my ancient Nokia phone and am looking at the Z2
I was hoping some of you kind people could help me with some questions as the shops don't seem to be able to help....
1. Email: I have several email IMAP accounts (some accounts with multiple identities). Some of the accounts have folders with over 10000 messages (no that was not a typo ). Can the default Email application handle this?
2. Can the default calendar sync with multiple other Google calendars (e.g. mine, a generic holiday and my wifes)
3. Can the default Music application read MP3 tags and display my music by e.g. artist or albumn ? (and display media art) ?
4. Can the default Gallery application display my photos in folders e.g. by date? Or do I have to view them all at once? (which I imagine could lag after a while).
5. I know the Z2 has a stamina mode which looks excellent. Can it e.g. turn off wifi when I leave home and turn it on at the office?
6. Can I configure the phone to store photos, videos (and for those applications that support it e.g. maps) on the SD card by default?
7. Can I deactivate applications that I don't use (and will that survive a reboot). I am aware I can't fully remove applications unless I root the phone.
8. Is there any difference in time between charging the phone via USB or magenetic charger?
9. Can I customise the home screen i.e. its not locked down is it?
Thanks very much!
No idea about 1, 2 but a yes on everything else. 5 can be solved using location based wifi. The difference between magnetic charger and USB is that you can't transfer data through magnetic port. Apart from that charging speeds are the same. And no home screens can be fully customised.
Hope that's enough info for you, I'm loving my Z2 and would recommend it over any other flagship this year to anyone.
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
1 is possible in terms of the several IMAP accounts, and I doubt you'd see any issue with lag from having 10,000 emails (though I wouldn't know exactly, as my largest one is around ~2,000). The application doesn't load them all at once though, so I don't think there'd be any issues with that.
2 is something I do on the daily. I have an appointments calendar, my workout calendar, my school calendar, and a holidays calendar, and they all sync fine.
3 yes.
4 yes, folders are a thing, but I have several thousand pictures, and if I choose to view them all at once, it works flawlessly.
5 is a no, *I think*. I don't use stamina mode, and I get at least 30 hours of battery life with pretty heavy texting regardless, so...
6 yes.
7 yes, and even though you can't fully remove a few applications without root, most all of them can be disabled without root.
8 no, not that I know of. I use both, and they both charge pretty fast.
9 yes, not locked down.
#5 - there's a built in function that turns off wifi when you're out of range of saved wifi networks and then turns the back on when you are in range again. Works well.
Thanks all for the replies

Pixel 3 - improve battery life

Opening this thread because battery life could be better even though it's only ~2950mAh. Currently I'm getting a bettery life of 20h with moderate usage. So I started to gather infos about how to reduce battery drain and usage.
Improvements:
- AlwaysOnDisplay: off
- Playing now: off
- reduce brightness
Are there any Google APPs which can be safely deactivated without getting the phone lunatic nor have heavy impact on the system?
And why is the Google APP so large? On my Moto G5+ it was around 35MB and now it's ten times bigger?

I wondered the same as you before receiving my Pixel 3. Comjing from a Galaxy S8 battery / SoT was always an issue, I barely made it trough a whole day of work without recharging at 5 PM.
With the Pixel 3 I did the following:
- Set it up and migrate everything from the S8 (via the Assistant in the Setup screen)
- Restored my ringtones and Notification sounds
- disabled the following Apps (because I don't use them): Action Services, Android Auto, Chrome, Connectivity Health Services, Device Health Services, Device Policy, Gmail (I use Aquamail instead), Google Connectivity Services, Google Play Movies, Google Play Music, Google Suport Services, Live Transcribe, Pixel Ambient Services, Youtube (I prefer Youtube Vanced and MigroG instead)
- Set up a ton of Cal and Carddav Accounts for my personal cloud services
- Disabled the automativ battery saver (which would kick in at 15% by default)
- Set up Automate: toogle WiFi on automatically when I reach a specific location (I know this is build in, but with the build in version it doesn't switch of when I leave the location) and disable it when I leave, Disable Bluetooth when not in use for 5 Minutes, automatically activate DnD when I'm charging after a specific Time (I charge every night) and disable it when I remove it from the Qi Charger
That's what I set up because of my experience with the S8 and because I want most things automatically done.
Yesterday I pushed the phone to the limit (a whole workday plus 2 Hours Spotify and 3 Hours Gaming):

Why don't just turn on Battery Saver? It shuts down some functions, like instant response for "Hey Google", idles background running apps etc. It also switches on dark theme at least in settings. I didn't measure exact battery life, but it feels, it lives longer. However, there were some days (I think, once in a couple months) when the battery drained almost in half in literally some hours. Since I registered it aftermath, I can not recall what could lead to that, but since I live in Los Angeles with some areas of pretty bad coverage (in hills areas, on some freeways), it's possible those caused the drainage. Also it could be the result of some glitches that Pixel is famous for, so I just rebooted it and it stopped drain the battery for that reason or because I was already out of bad coverage areas.

Your setup of apps and syncing is very close to mine! Some of the services you mentioned are still running on my Pixel. That's a good starting point for further optimisation. Very appreciate your help!

I applied already the standards for saving battery life (AoD, etc.) and as I don't use the Google services also those I was sure it doesn't break anything. Getting rid of the services I don't use is a good start for optimise it.

Well, it's not about the process of unlocking and rooting the phone, but just the legal side.
I would not get any service for free if I unlocked it.
I rooted every phone I had but as my Pixel is new I will wait till I'm sure that there are no hardware problems occurring.

Do you mean you applied that after special mode "Battery Saver" as additions to it? That standard mode was enough for me to keep my battery charge mostly over 50% after full day.

Yep, that's what I ment. I identified already one of the drainers - my Openvpn client is consuming quite a lot. After switching to Blockada (as AdBlocker) battery consumption is quite okay.
But let's see what can be achieved by further optimization.
Try to use the private DNS setting instead, I figured this would save even more battery than a locally hosted VPN

I will try, but one after the other. Otherwise I don't know what was a good setting.
Seems like I found descent settings to make battery last longer. So let's see how this turns out during the week (this is my normal use case - mail, some music, business stuff, photos; I don't play!).
I'll let u know what I did, so maybe others can profit as well.
While in standby/mails/some browsing the drain is descent. While listening to some music using BT the drain is quite visible as you can see.
What?? When you use the device it uses more battery then when it sleeps? crazy

Factory Reset - restoring any configuration/settings?

Hi there,
I've been upgrading to a S21 9910 from a S9. Tried with SmartSwitch - but battery life was pretty poor (3-4h SOT).
Now I've done the factory reset and I'm still in the process of restoring - which is kind of a pain the ***** somehow. I've also disabled a few things with ADB, just basic (Bixby, etc).
Is there any "allowed" way to restore maybe things like settings / configuration / with Samsung Cloud / Google Backup AND not to impact the battery life or so?
Any help/hints would be useful.
THANK YOU!
SmartSwitch creates more problems in my opinion (but I had a Huawei so that could have also been a problem) and google backup is still an obscure thing for me (compare to ios backup).
Usually the battery improves after few days but don't expect 10hrs screen time.
This is what I did with mine to improve battery life:
- disabled AOD
- changed to dark theme
- set a routine with bixby to disable mobile data when on a specific wi-fi (like home one) and switch to 3G (if you disconnect from it the phone goes back to 4G/5G+ mobile data)
- put screen to 60 fps (i don't use social network and I mainly read on watch videos on phone so I don't need 120 fps)
- with "package disabler pro" I disabled few services/apps (OneDrive, all game related plugins, samsung kids, led cover service, google Duo, facebook services)
- switched from youtube app to youtube vanced
- blokada
- I use brave as a browser (not tested if it is better on battery side compared to samsung's one)
With these setting and without disabling bixby I can get at least 4hrs if I game a lot (tested with Genshin that takes aroung 20-25 % / hrs; obviously not 4hrs of Genshin or the phone would melt down on 60 fps setting). On general usage whatsapp, youtube, music, phonecalls, 30 min gaming, bluetooth always on and connected to samsung watch (Gear fit 2) and location on (but limited to some apps) you should get more than 6 hrs.
If you are setting up phone I also suggest you Good Lock from samsung store (a lot of customization for the phone).
Thanks for sharing your approach!
I've also AOD disabled, and a few others.
120Hz I would like to have still.
Let's see - if I get anything more than 5h I would be happy already. Will share my experience after few days and finished set-up.
What exactly is this "Good Lock" - you mean the screen lock app?

Good Lock is an app that you can download from the Galaxy Store. It lets you customize lockscreen, AOD, Quick Panel, launcher, task changer, notifications, navigation bar and much more.

General Me and My OPPO FIND N

1. Me I have had almost every kind of phone you can think of form early palms, blackberries, Sony Ericsson P900, Nokia N9 (One of my all-time favorites) Surface duo (wanted to love but horrible experience) most of today’s flagships including all the Samsung folds. Got rid of my fold to get the pixel 6 pro mainly because of the camera and I loved it, I had no issues whatsoever. But I didn’t realize how much I would miss the fold and was going to go back to it when Oppo Released the N and it looked like the perfect hardware for me. After much consideration and reading I purchased from a Hong Kong Seller. And have been using for about 3 weeks now. Daily Driver. I absolutely love the phone, the size, the solid feel, great battery life. So far one of my favorite phones, I have used.
2. Once I got the phone, I researched all I could about the small and major quirks.
3. First thing I did was factory reset, the phone once it arrived. (They installed Google Play for me). Wanted to make sure nothing was installed, that I didn’t know about.
4. Easily found and installed the Google Play apk.
5. Next I download Apk Extractor and removed all the Chinese apps, that I could using it. (I didn’t want to use adb commands, fear of removing something needed). All the other leftover Chinese apps I placed in a folder and moved it out the way.
6.The Launcher is no big deal for me, on most of the phones I’ve had, I stuck with the default launcher. (Group text is an issue will discuss that later)
7. Started loading all my apps that I use games, banking etc. (around 250) tested them and everyone of the work. When I got to an app they didn’t display correctly on the open screen, I adjusted through the phone setting no app download.
8. Download new keyboard changed from the Chinese one.
9. Notifications limits, I set my main apps I need notifications from, but what I found was a lot of the social accounts Facebook, etc automatically was added to running in background and notifications and did not go against the limit. All my main apps I set to run in the background and made sure notifications was on and that a sound or vibration was set (the customizations for notifications are a lot) So far, I am notified we notifications come in. because I have a lot of email addresses I use home, work etc. I have always used Blue mail and it only counts as one notification.
10 Group message was a make or break for me, because send and receive a lot of group messages. And I have researched everywhere, tried different apps and no luck. The solution for me and it’s working well.
11. I decided to use Google Voice (I have had a number for years, so I tested it first for couple days) And now has officially ported my number to google voice, I can now get group messages etc. I will keep using until I they update the message issues or swap phone. I saved all my texts using SMS Backup & restore because you can not import the texts into google voice, but you can export them out. I saved all the old text on the new phone using SMS Backup & Restore, because if I need to find an old text it has a search fixture on it.
Conclusion so far, I am very happy with this phone, it’s an amazing piece of work. I know my post was long and for give me if it doesn’t make since. But if you have any questions on my experience just ask and I will do my best to answer.
Me too, this phone Is very good and pleasant to use as a daily driver . I have imaginée this phone before (i used the nec 05e,thé royole
flexpai 1,thé fold1and flold2 and several zflip). A little'more slimmer and lighter would bé perfect...but its ok.
M'y only complaint is about wifi calling with erratic behavior and disconnection ..maynbe a solution will occur..(more accurzte localisation or wiffi setting
i missed...)

Useful info here, thank you very much
Thanks for sharing your experience.
The Nokia N9 was one of the greatest phones ever.
And I too love the Oppo Find N.
After rolling with the Asus Padfone seriess for years (used the first gen Padfone for 1.5 years, and killed 3 new Padfone Infinities after that ). After that I had to switch to "boring" Asus Zenfones (had the 3 and 6)...
But now I finally have a fun and special phone again!
The best foldable ever this phone shifted me from iOS back to Android
To share my experience:
- The phone setup was painful and challenging. Reset, Install Playstore (with a Chinese Keyboard), delete and remove apps, Locale2 but now it feels like a normal phone I always use.
- The 5 apps notification limit is challenging. I use a messenger consolidator (Matrix based) so I only use one app there. You will need one for private and one for office email and I also needed one for the galaxy watch. So I had only one remaining. 2FA or Secure Code apps I normally need to load manually, same as credit card pushes.
- Hardware is amazing. Very solid construction. Guess I need to go caseless as the case adds to much bulk for me. But coming from a flip I feel those phones are unbreakable as long as they are closed. Charging speeds are decent (coming from a flip) and battery is holding more than one day in general.
- Software: There are nearly no apps optimized for big screen use. I miss the Kindle app from my surface allowing me to read a book "normally". Watching filmes is ok but you wont have more screen estate than on a S21Ultra by comparison. Fotos, Web is fantastic though. The OS Software is flawless, e.g. splitting screen with 2 Fingers is perfectly implemented. My hope is on Android 13 which is announced for this device in July, It should allow 3rd party developers to optimize their apps in a standard manner working on all foldables.
Generally: Very happy with this device. Caseless it is a one handed device for me and I use it as my only daily driver (except when near water or sand.)

I absolutely love this phone and form factor. It's the perfect size.
I've had a pretty easy time of it thanks to a few posts on here and Gadget goddesses videos as well as my own know how. Maybe it was a little cleaner and easier for me than others since I've been using using google voice since before google bought grandcentral and I'm also on T-mobile.
0. Clone my old LG v60 dual screen over using the phone cloaner this thing came with.
1. changed all my app's notification permissions, battery permissions in app management section to ensure notifications
2. added some important apps that I want guaranteed notifications to the auto launch and recent apps manager sections, but so far even the apps that aren't in autolaunch or recent apps seem to be doing ok on notifications. I use tasker to launch my hotspot automatically when I get in my car and have the car connect to it, so I suppose if I really cared I could use tasker to ensure all my apps stay running and notify me. But so far haven't had to.
3. Under apps, under the "associated launch" the "Blocking records" log to figure out which apps were important to support notifications or proper operation of some apps, and then just activated associated launch to those apps that were blocked from launching(launched by other apps in background). For instance, outlook needed to launch the "company portal" app in the background to properly function and also give me notifications on incoming mail. So I jsut activated associated launch for Company portal. I didn't allow associated launch for all apps, as when I really went through the log, there were only a handful of apps I needed to worry about and would rather the rest not able to just get launched in the background to save juice.
4. I set google voice to prioritize wifi and Data. I get crap signal where I live so this is a must. Basically this has always replaced my voice over wifi anyway on all phones I've used past and present. I like taking calls on my desktop as well.
5. I used "Force LTE" app from the playstore to ensure I got 5g connectivity, although I don't think I really need 5g because even on my old tmobile phone, I noticed in the areas I live 5g is slower than 4g lte anyway. This is a known thing on Tmobiles rollout of 5g in rural areas and I'll probably turn off 5g. I'm just mentioning this to let people know 5g on T-Mobile works fine with this phone.
6. activated google assistant using gestures on the main screen
7. deleted all the chinese apps I could without adb, there's 10 I couldn't delete. I'll probably dump those with adb but it hasn't really been an issue. like everyone else I just stuffed them in a folder and hid it away. Although it seems to be important to at least do the updates in the chinese only app store because one of the updates was to the phones native google services libraries, which is required for a lot of stuff to run correctly including biometric face authentication on some apps.
8. replaced the keyboard like everyone else.
9. Installed Google camera for the heck of it. Gcam
Anyway, I'm not hitting any "quirks" or frustrations. This has been a pretty smooth transition. And again, I just feel this thing is the perfect size for chrome "desktop mode" browsing and reading manga and other reading apps.
I've only found one or two out of more than a hundred apps I use that can't be set to full screen in the display section. I suppose having to rotate the phone for some apps is one quirk I've hit, but it's not a big deal to me.
Anyhow good luck owners, and for those thinking about buying it, I give it a good solid yes.

Good experience sharing - For me 5G always runs - no need to force. I use macrodroid to force the main apps into background when starting in the morning - so far it works.
At the end the Oppo Find N is the best foldable hardware - for foldables and for Tablets - Android is not fully there yet, mainly apps are just not yet optimized. Let's hope Android 13 is the basis for app developers to jump on the train...

Yeah, I just use the Force LTE app because it looks like they removed the preferred carrier band preference from settings on the find n. On all my other android phones, under mobile networks, there's usually a setting that allows you to pick which bands you want your phone to use. Like I said, 5g is actually slower for me than 4g, so I need a way to basically shutoff 5g when I'm in my home area. So without that setting on the android settings of the phone, I have to rely on an app like Force LTE. There's a lot of discussion on the interwebs about why 5g ends up being slower in some areas, like rural areas, than 4g. So it's something that will eventually get fixed and I won't have to worry about. But I just mentioned it in case someone needed a replacement for that android setting, not that people need it.
I've been using a Find N for about 2 months. I set up mine much like other people on this thread . Background on for almost all apps, auto-launch for main messaging apps, Google keyboard, Google assistant, GPay, default launcher, GCam/default Cam, Brave/Samsung Internet, Gmail/Outlook. I set up apps as full screen or 4:3 if they open sideways (still good to use). For social apps I use regular apps and WebApps too because the WebApps take full advantage of the big display (Instagram, Twitter and Instagram).
I've been playing games on emulators for the past 2-3 weeks (Switch and GameCube) and noticed yesterday that the screen protector on the big display has tiny marks (probably fingernails?). Is it ok to remove the factory screen protector and apply a new one? The marks are tiny and only on the "joystick area" so they don't bother me but I'm gonna eventually sell this in the future and may consider replacing the screen protector.
