Screen test comparison - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

So I did a screen test using Four fingers multi-touch. The first one is my old Op3T showing all four traces clearly. The second is my Poco showing first two fingers (to touch screen) clearly and other two are faint lines.
Both phones running same android 10 ROM setup and latest firmware. Tried different ROMs on Poco, same issue. Any ideas?

Yep
Happened with me too
Compared it with OnePlus 7T though
Btw Am having Nvt panel on my poco

I'm having no such issues on my Poco.
I've seen a lot of threads regarding Poco display. From day one to now I haven't faced any issues with poco like low sound, poor network, light bleed etc.
However I do have one issue that is image retention. If I am on a website with static fixed colors and I open an app with white screen, the previous page can be seen. But this is only temporary and goes away after 15 seconds.

That's great, are you on stock or custom Rom, what's your setup?
Image retention-perhaps live display needs some tweaking.

NVT here too.
I don't have ghost touch or serious issues. But the general touch experience is not as good as even an old phone like Oneplus3T.

Disable three finger screen shot and your ghost touch fix
I try on stock rom and its working

I'm on CR custom rom, but actually all my gestures are disabled. The issue isn't ghost touch, i dont have it. For daily use it's fine.
It's just the quality of touch screen as seen on the screen test in OP is sub par.

Fully Stock MIUI 11 (Android 10)
Since its LCD there's no option (nor needed) to have Live Display or Ambient Display. The image retention began about two months ago. It is not consistent. Sometimes the image retains for about 5 seconds, sometimes there's no retention at all. Since this is LCD I don't need to worry about burn in. And even if burn in is possible on LCD I frequently move the UI in different places.
I have a 2013 Moto X as well as a Moto G
I have compared the panels from those phones with my Poco and I see no problems at all. All touches are fine and there is no ghost clicks.
Almsket every day there is a new post about display issues... I guess I'm just lucky to be in the few who don't have any problems.

2 poco with different display

I bought two poco and I noticed that the screens are different from each other. First Pocophone is definitely brighter than the other. The screen in the first is more whiter, warmer. The settings on both phones are identical. Any ideas what could be the reason

its normal, since the manufacturing of the display panel is in batches or made in different factory. There will be some deviation from panel to panel. This applied to all electronics not just display panel.

They had a bunch of color bleeding defects on the first batch around 2 - 3 months after they fixed the problem probably with different screens.

Maybe you purchased one of the first batch of Pocophone F1 and one of their display has screen bleeding problem. You should replace it with another new Pocophone F1. You still have that warranty right?
Hey guys.
I checked what the bleeding screen looks like in Google and none of them indicate this problem. It gives the impression that the second screen backlight was minimal lower but only on a white background you can see the difference. I think koax88 is right. It seems to me that this is due to the different distribution of these lcd panels.

Yes i still have warranty, I bought these phones a few days ago but I do not know if it's a display defect.

Screen burn? BOE & LG, both same

I had Mate 20 Pro with LG display and got it exchanged due to display issues (greenish in total darkness, low brightness). Now I got with BOE display, but I found out one issue that I had on LG screen too. Check the video that I recorded back on LG display. Exact same issue is on new phone with BOE display. To explain:
watching YouTube video in full screen and after a minute or two I exit the full screen and want to check notifications. When I slide down notification bar, the white part of YouTube with description of video is part black, part white.
Same goes if I play for example fortnite. Loading screen show like it is burned. I have new device for less then week.
Any idea, is this display again or something else? No, it's not normal for OLED displays, at least not by my experience in all years with OLED displays..
https://youtu.be/7cqlff7Zm-U
Same issue on the darktheme only visible in youtube though.
On new phone I'm using white/light theme, not dark anymore and issue is still here.
Also visable by me at only youtube app.

Same only in YouTube and when I click back and watch another video in small size the burn is not there, is it a software thing?
This is what I would like to know too. I don't see that problems on Samsung and Oneplus 6 (both amoled). This could be either software or displays are really faulty.
This is a display issue, anand tech highlighted it in their review. I've already sent a phone back because if it. It differs in severity from device to device but I've had this on BOE and LG screens.

Image retention (which I don't have) is normal, is rare, but does happen on LG displays usually.
Screen burn in is NORMAL on amoled. Your years of experience are wrong. I see burn in on every single amoled display within days or weeks of use and over 2 years the burn is is quite pronounced whether you see it or not.
It's not burn in, it's a bug with the content adaptive brightness control (CABC) system they're using that persists even though the screen content has changed. It's a software problem not a hardware one.

I do guess you read only what you want?
1. It is NOT on LG, it is BOE.
2. Phone is 1 week old and this is from day 1. And by your experience it is normal that screen is burned on first day?

They can fix it with a software update (I think).
It is mentioned further in this review of the mate 20 pro:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/13503/the-mate-20-mate-20-pro-review/7
This came out today from total darkness. on every photo is written about camera settings. BOE display

I have a BOE and don't have any of those issues, the only issues are with I am guessing a software graphic driver with the Google dark colour on Huawei video app and occasionally in the XDA app sometimes the colour isn't always the same shade it has gradients of lighter Shades. Although this doesn't happen in Google messaging or the Google phone and contact apps. It's strange that it only happens in the two apps.

Screen retention is a result of using cheap LCD panel. I didn't face it on Poco (or probably didn't notice it yet), but I had it on Mi A1 and it kept becoming more visible with time and I had to sell the device off as the service center didn't admit the issue to be hardware related and kept calling it a software related issue and kept flashing the fastboot ROM.

Poco f1 notification shade pull down.

Hey, I've been using the Poco f1 since february 2019, I very quickly switched over to Pixel Experience. And I've been having an issue (Don't think it was a problem in the beginning), where the notification shade was being pulled down randomly while touching the screen (no matter where). Tried changing kernel, didn't work. Changed to lineage, not sure what I did, but there was like 2 sec delay, phone was super slow. Then I tried rooting back to Miui (newest Beta and then an older version), beta put my phone in infinite bootloader, the stable one had some kind of issues aswell. Any help?
Note : After I did the session with changing the roms, I decided to go back to Pixel experience with Android 10 Beta version, and my phone gets a seizure if its gets a notification (screen just turns on and on quickly for the duration of the notification pop up).
Cheers
Faced this before on PE. Turns out extra sensitivity to touch was caused by my tempered glass. You can never trust those ₹100 tempered glasses for this reason.
Changing the tempered glass fixed it for me. Not sure if that's the case for you.

Unfortunately, I don't have nay tempered glass applied
i am facing the same issue !!!
all i know if I clear cache / delvik and stays ok for a while!
otherwise notification panel quickly pulls its self down in a flickering speed!
its worse on Optimus drunk kernel but a bit better on Franco!
i believe its due to their latest switch to miui10.3.7 touch drivers!
can you try June/july kernels and check ?
on twisted kernel (driver of miui9.x) i didnt face such issue but that kernel was draining battery on my Havoc!
i am using poco since march19 and until Sept everything on custom rom was OK! ( i have 9H glass on)

POCO F1 image retention or LCD burnout on MIUI stock ROM please help.

Hi there, I am using 6/64 GB variant POCO F1 for one and a half years recently I noticed problem like screen burning, on my display. If I use any app for 5 to 10 mins I see a shadow of the same app for 20-30 mins behind the screen. It is more clearly visible in dark mode or dark grey background.
Is there, anyone facing the same issue or knows whether it is a software issue or there is something wrong with the LCD panel? And if its a hardware issue where in India can I change my LCD panel for a good price with good quality?
I posting the Pictures of Screen shadow below, please check it out.

It's a hardware issue. Have an issue like that too. It happens intermittently, but isn't really an issue for me anyway because when I switch to another app it's not too noticeable. Usually happens when I read manga since the screen is mostly white, then there's artifacts for a while then is barely noticeable.
As to where you can get it fixed in your country, sorry I'm not from India so I don't know. But if there's a Xiaomi store/service center they should be able to help you
You can greatly reduce that effect on stock MIUI by going to Display > Color Scheme and change it from Automatic to Standard. Been having the same issue for about 8 months (my device is 18 months old), other than that, haven't had any other display problems, so there isn't much of a reason to replace the lcd pannel (unless you're still under warranty).
Had the same issue with a replacement screen, but after some time i decided that it bothered me too much, so i decided to replace the screen again, and now everything is fine.

what was the cost of screen replacement and did you replace the screen in MI service center or in a local shop?
Well i was able to fix it by using lawrun oc build i implemented the amoled color option and i don't have to suffer from this problem anymore.
