[ROM][SM-T580][SM-T585][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 16 for Galaxy Tab A (2016) - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series ROMs, Kernels, Recover

This is LineageOS 16 for both versions (LTE and WiFi-only) of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016).
All work for this ROM was done by @Valera1978 - I only did the builds based on the current LineageOS sources to make the security fixes available for this nice ROM. So all thanks may go to @Valera1978.
You find all discussion to this ROM in @Valera1978's thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-64bit-20180920-t3845016
Downloads:
Latest builds from 2022-05-06 with security patch level 2022-03-05.
The builds can be found here:
SM-T585: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=307678
SM-T580: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=307673
Migrate-script: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=2188818919693800974
(unzip before use, identical script for both SM-T580 and SM-T585)
Please make a complete backup with TWRP of your current ROM and data, in case anything might go wrong!
The builds are signed with release keys!
If you want to install this ROM over an existing installation of another author's Lineage-OS (build with test-keys), then you first should run the 'migration-achalmgucker.sh' script with the argument 'official', to ensure compatibility to my build with release-keys.
And if you want to move from this ROM to another author's ROM, then it might be good to run the 'migration-achalmgucker.sh' script with the argument 'unofficial' to return to test-keys.
Please carefully read this information from LineageOS: https://wiki.lineageos.org/signing_builds.html
Or you do a factory reset before starting with this ROM. (You will lose of course all your data!)
Further updates of this ROM can be done directly without data loss, no special migration necessary.

Thank YOU for your efforts, very much appreciated.

looks great on my 585.
first the migrate one, boot, then the one from 15th, boot.
added addon_su for root
all data are here.
THANK YOU!

Thank you very much; runs perfect on my t580.
One question: after every reboot I get the warning that Selinux is disabled. Is that a problem, or should I just ignore it?

I also would like to thank and congratulate the developer(s). This ROM is now the only viable option for a T585, since LOS17.1 is practically unusable and Blis broke phone calls and became ridiculously bloated with google crap.
Thank you, I hope you'll be able to keep updating the ROM with security patches every now and then.

For the life of me, I cannot get this to boot on my T585. Tried to use the migrate build to move without data loss. That failed. Tried a factory reset and migrate build again, no luck. Another factory reset and the regular build, no luck. Format and clean install with both the migrate and the regular builds, no luck. I always just get the lineage splash screen animation endlessly. Typically I let it run like that for about an hour before I try another iteration, but I did let it run for 12 hours once just to see.
I've tried flashing with and without magisk and gapps, always the same result.
I started this process off on Valera's 12/11/19 predecessor build, TWRP 3.3.1-0.
Anyone else work through something similar and/or have suggestions for how to get it running?

I'm sorry to hear that.
Do you use Google-Apps? I took the micro package from opengapps.org.
My usual installation procedure (for a first time installation) for tablet and smartphone is:
Make backup
Wipe boot, system
Wipe data if factory reset intended, otherwise keep data
Add lineageos.zip, add opengapps.zip, add magisk.zip
reboot
That's it.
Subsequent updates with the same ROM flavor are only done by installing the lineageos.zip without any wipes or re-applying of opengapps/magisk.
With one smartphone I have trouble from time to time, it would remain in the Lineage-logo for long time, either perpetual or at least longer than my patience lasts. In this case I force reboot (power/volume-) and most times it works then for this phone.
I have not had such trouble with the T585 and the T580 yet.

Hi,
Thank's for the reply
Yep, that's my typical process too and the one I followed. I use the opengapps.org full build since I'm pretty well entrenched in the google ecosystem. It figures though that this is the one time I forgot to take a TWRP backup before flashing the new rom and this is the one that's causing me so much hassle. Thankfully, I don't keep much user data stored locally on this tablet so its more of a time hassle than any real dilemma.
Just to confirm, since I've done full resets and wipes to try and make it work, I shouldn't need the -migrate build any longer since the old keys are wiped in the format, or are they stored somewhere in the device PROM and so I should continue trying to make the migrate build work? I'm curious if its a TWRP version difference that may be flashing improperly, or if the fact that I have a microSD inserted when I'm doing this might be causing some hangup?
My next step I think, unless you have some other suggestion, is to revert to the old build and start the process over from there with just bare bones.
Thanks!

Yes, with factory reset, you start with the normal build, no migrate required.

I also had the microSD card inserted during that process, and I use TWRP-3.3.1-0

Yes, now, as you already lost all your data, you could try to restore some older backup and check, if everything is working again. Then wipe boot, system, and data and install the (non-migrate) build as a fresh start.
Good luck!

Thank you for this rom. Seems rock solid so far was encountering several bugs on the 10 Roms so a updated pie rom was just what I needed

New builds are up with LOS security patches of May 5th, 2020.

Maybe offtopic, do you think it's worth to buy an sm-t585 ( used ) nowadays for 120 €? Of course with the sense to flash THIS rom. Thanks in advance...

I personally like this tablet very much and I would pay that money.
However I use it for reading my local newspaper, online magazines, doing much of my e-mail correspondence, internet browsing, Skype etc. But no games, no memory and processor demanding apps.
The display quality is very good, the sound is acceptable. Very good for office-type work, the battery lasts half a week.
And I like the appearance and stability, but I do not have an overview of other current tablets to make a fair comparison.
Just my personal opinion.

[ROM][AOSP][7.1/8.1/9.0 EXP][flo/deb] Unlegacy Android Project

The Unlegacy Android ProjectIntroduction
Unlegacy-Android started out as the OMAP4-AOSP Project. It was created in late 2015 in order to maintain a clean and organized place for pure AOSP support for various OMAP4 devices, such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series. Over time this evolved to support more than just these devices, but still maintains its roots of supporting "legacy" devices that no longer receive "official" updates: hence Unlegacy Android was born. In our opinion, these ROMs are how the official updates would look.
On top of AOSP, we only include changes which are necessary to support the hardware, be secure, and get acceptable performance. Current features for flo/deb include:
- Linux kernel 3.4.y merged in (currently 3.4.108 - mostly security patches and minor bug fixes)
- BFQ IO scheduler (official kernel 3.4 release), set up so GUI processes have the highest priority
- F2FS support from kernel 4.9 (for /data only!)
- SELinux in Enforcing mode
Installation
If you're planning to install GApps, be sure to read the second post!
Aside from these, installation and upgrading is no different than on other ROMs.
Problems
- No known issues for flo/deb yet.
If you notice anything, be sure to report it in this thread. Stability is our main concern. While I'm kind of busy, I usually read the thread and acknowledge the bug reports, even if I don't reply directly to them.
Downloads
See: http://builds.unlegacy-android.org. Our automated builds ensure that we always have the latest Android security patches merged in, without having to manually start and upload builds
We will have a built-in OTA updater (just like stock) soon (it's a work in progress)
Information about our experimental builds and progress you may find here.
Features?
There isn't much to say here - this is AOSP, if you install GApps, you pretty much get the same thing that's running on the Nexus devices (see the second post). The aim of this project is to create a fast and stable ROM - although, one could use Xposed to add extra features.
As usual, feedback is appreciated

GApps
If you want to install GApps, we recommend Open GApps Micro.
An important note: as this is a pure AOSP ROM, installing GApps tends to be problematic: in order to try to avoid installation issues, be sure to install GApps immediately after installing the ROM, before booting the system for the first time. If you experience any issues with the Google applications, be sure to go into Settings -> Apps, and grant every permission to every Google application - most importantly, Google Play services.
In the case of an upgrade, be sure to re-install the GApps package, as upgrading wipes /system. You shouldn't need to re-set the permissions afterwards.
Stock-like setup
Disable the following built-in (AOSP) apps:
- Android keyboard (once you installed Gboard)
- Browser
- Calculator
- Camera
- Clock
- Email
- Gallery
Install the following apps from the Play store:
- Google Photos (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos)
- Calculator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calculator)
- Chrome (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome)
- Clock (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock)
- Gboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin)
- Gmail (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gm)
- Google Calendar (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar)
- Google Camera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera)
- Google Now Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher)
SafetyNet
The ROM should pass SafetyNet after installing GApps, without anything else. Keep in mind that installing extra stuff (SU, ...) might make it fail!
Rooting
You can flash the latest Magisk to get rooted.

I simply use Darker for night time playing in the bed personally, I reduce brightness to 65% and apply a slight yellow tint. When most websites are white, theming the framework wouldn't matter that much anyways... and we kinda want to feel like a factory image (no dark mode in them either)
@Ziyan
It's a pity)
The rom itself works fine. Good job)
@Ziyan Thanks for your efforts on these older devices. I've used your work on both Gtab 2 and Grouper before I sold them. I just downloaded 0324 builds for Flo and Hammerhead, neither one matched the MD5. I just downloaded Flo again but still no match. I haven't tried flashing any of the roms yet but figured I'd let you know.
Also, don't know if you use Netflix but it's been a problem getting a current version of the app working properly on ANY Nougat rom for Flo. Without any modifications, the Netflix app will load and give you an option to download and watch at a later time. However, if you try to just do a normal streaming of a movie or show, it will give you an error 0013. As is mostly the history of Netflix, it appears to be a drm issue. @Startrek852 was able to compile a zip with drmblobs that will eliminate the error 0013 and allow normal streaming but you lose the ability to download and watch at a later time. Although I don't use Google Movies, it's my understanding that it will not work if you flash the drmblobs.
Anyway, just wondering if "in your travels" you've heard of this Netflix issue and might possibly know of a proper fix. Thanks again.

Very weird on the MD5 thing, as mentioned I downloaded it twice and on a desktop PC so it shouldn't be a mobile issue??? I'm gonna' flash it later, will report if there's a problem.

Updates come out every day ...?)
And why the cache is not f2fs?
I'm sorry that there are a lot of questions. I just made this rom basic and I want to figure it all out
p.s. That there were no problems with gapps - you need to restart the recovery after flashing the main rom
have volume wake option?

Our little build server likes overdoing its job and building even if the changes don't affect flo - until this is fixed, it's enough to update every 3-4 weeks or so to get the security updates, unless I make an announcement here about a change
About /cache f2fs: there's simply no point, as that partition isn't actively used by the system (other than maybe OTA updates). I usually don't support it, as it can lead to more complications than what it worth...

Nice to see you cover this development as well. Maybe it is possible to join forces with Valera1978 ? I will try this build as well of course and report on issues. Hopefully it is not too much of a problem to run it on a T580 (without SIM).
@Valera1978. Your ROM performs very well (it is fast too !).
As expected, it runs well on a SM-T580 as well, you can just skip the SIM part in set-up with no problem at all.
Of course it is still work in progress, so bugs to be expected. However I concluded that sound is working properly ,which is fantastic.
In your opening post you said GPS is not working, but I think it is working (Navmii and Google maps anyway).
I did not find many problems, but I can report some:
- It is a bit strange that in setup you are being asked to put back a backup from the cloud while you have not been able (yet) to set up your internet connection). However this provlem can be circumvented easily by just answering that you want to set-up as a new device. In the next screen you set-up your internet connection and then you go can go back and choose to restore from backup (which works flawlessly);
- External SD card cannot be formatted as "internal storage", which is a pity, because I use a brand new 128 Gb SD card (this works in the stock ROM, so I think it is some kind of a bug);
- On an SM-t580 there is of course no SIM. In the lock screen I now see "no service". On a post to Tank0412 Oves786 suggests to remove an APK, but I wouldn't know which one it is (otherwise I would try, although I realize that other things should be removed as well, like the dialer program). The functioning of the tablet is not impaired in any way by this (as far as I can see);
- Gboard (an app from Google) apparently is not functioning properly: swiping does not work at all, although it is supposed to do so. In the standard AOSP keyboard however swiping is no problem.
I'm waiting for the Bluetooth to work in order to flash this Rom!!

Nice to see you cover this development as well. Maybe it is possible to join forces with Valera1978 ? I will try this build as well of course and report on issues. Hopefully it is not too much of a problem to run it on a T580 (without SIM).

I also have the T580. But this is my wife's tablet, and I can not take it up for a week for develop. But as soon as there is a stable version for the T585, I'll take it for a short time (1-2 days) and fix it too.

"In your opening post you said GPS is not working" - on T580 - this is another key in kernel. On T585 - i'm working with it. Yesterday I had find reason - if I'm manually (via adb) running modem - I see baseband, imei, and gps starting work too. At least now I known - problem in ramdisk, vendor and device config is correct for ril.
"back a backup from the cloud" - this is gapps bug, as I remember wizard ask about backup before you enter your google account.
"External SD card" - strange, will check, T580-585 should be same logic.
"On an SM-T580 there is of course no SIM" - not enough remove apps, need build firmware without telephony. Because settings also included changes in framework.
"Gboard (an app from Google) apparently " - will check, but later, primary problems is first.

I'll check after ril, but I'm on 90% sure - it's the same problem.
Thank you for this, for an Alpha its very good. Its installed now on my T580 . The kernel is Permissive and can't be switched to Enforcing, is this something we could have in a future release, a kernel with the ability to change?
Amazing work, congratulations for bringing this to us, its a game changer for the T585/580. When I look at my Ti Back-up for any missing apps and see all that Samsung bloat-ware and Knox related stuff...well how good to see them gone

Format SD card as Internal memory
@Valera1978. Maybe just nonsense what I discovered but maybe it is not, so I think I should share this.
I discovered Samsung S7/S7 edge suffer from the same problem that it is not possible to format their SD card as internal (which however is possible in the original Samsung sofware for the SM-T580/ 585 as I mentioned earlier).
So I thought it would be a nice experiment to try the solution I found in:
http://www.modaco.com/news/android/...e-adoptable-storage-on-your-s7-s7-edge-r1632/
After having read that, what I did was no more then simply issuing the commands:
adb shell
sm list-disks
This returned:
"CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE "app_process": "/sbin/libcutils.so" is 64-bit instead of 32-bit
Aborted"
I now suspect - without really knowing why or how - that maybe a 64 bit module (or maybe the reverse: some 32 bit module) is interfering some way with the formatting of the disk as internal.
This is not the biggest of problems of course, this build already performs really nice and smooth anyway. However of course I do hope it proves to be is a lead to the solution.

Hi all
Finally I got tab s3 wifi version. And now I have both tablets.
Lte and wifi versions almost the same. Diffs only in radio, gps config and sensors.
Tested for a few days - it's fast and stable.
Yes, we still have a some problems, like camera crashes in logs, speakers (not rotate), may be some small issues.
Many thanks! Will flash this over the weekend and do some testing.
I havent flashed this yet but....I love you! Im stuck with this tablet, And theres been basically no other roms for the wifi model, And the stock rom is so slow its unbearable....Your the best!!!!!
Edit: It flashed perfectly, And...It actually responds to taps ect....Thank you!!!!!!!
You are more than awesome! Thanks for this.
I hope it is not rude to ask, but is there any chance, that you could provide. HAVOC OS for this device?
Thanks in advance.
Omg i was checking this page so often for this thread to appear. I love you Downloading and testing right now.
Okay guys, important to know for everyone. You have to install the repack recovery by valera1987. The ashyx recovery does not encrypt data storage!!!
The rom seems to work smooth and fast so far, but i recognised two annoying issues.
At first the rom sometimes reboots directly after unlocking the device via pin.
Secondly, it is not possible to write something with the spen, because the touch function is not disabled, if the spen is in use.
If i try to write something via lecture notes and i touch the display, the whole text disappears.
I hope this can be fixed somehow.
Thanks in advance for your great work!
Regards
Thanks for your effort.
Be aware that spen is stop working after you turn off your screen while using the spen.

I use LectureNotes myself and have the same issue. You can rest your palm while writing, but as soon as you move your palm the line you are drawing in that moment will be canceled. If this issue is fixed this ROM is absolutly perfect for me.

Wierd, I don't have this problem. Hopefully it stays this way...
@Valera1978:
I use a 128GB Samsung micro SD card in my tablet. For some wierd reason it gets recognized as 256GB in this ROM (No problems on PC or old ROMs). It marks half of it as in use though, so no real problem (e.g. 5 GB of 128 GB are in use, it shows 133 GB of 256 GB are in use). SD card is formatted as internal storage for tablet only. Thank you so much for your work!
For anyone interested in using this ROM without GAPPs: I have no issues so far!
Btw. is there any chance to add xbox controller support?
Reboots - this is keystore problem. Time ago I used softkeystore from samsung (from stock firmware) - now back to normal kestore\gatekeeper. Test version working well. Later today I'll rebuild both 820/825 versions.
About s-pen - need check, how to implement this.

Maybe you can find something on github for galaxy note 10.1 2014 (SM-P600) for this, because they implemented this somehow for oreo on my old device.
Checking in kernel - it's support in code and defconfig. But it's old revision. I'll update code from another samsung tablet to new one.
But right now we have otg issues - need check it first. My otg-type-c cable had arrive yesterday.
In any way I have ps4/one (old)/oneX (new) joysticks - i'll check.

Cool, thanks a lot.
I have also some issues to get viper4android driver inatalled on this rom. Can you include busybix into your kernel?
And maybe you know the app spen command, which is a perfect alternative to the missing command menu for the pen, if you press the pen button. The only problem is, that this app needs selinux on permissive. Maybe you can set your kernel by default to this.
thanks....we appreciate your efforts
i've noticed that using ms note this problem occurs, i don't have other apps with this functionality. but, also i don't have idea how to install samsung notes. this will be the best solution.

Magisk v19.0 works fine for me.
ROM works fine with my T820.
Only issues with camera: Switching from front/back-camera takes about 20 seconds.
Stock-camera, opencamera, Camera-zoom-fx ... same issue
... but camera isnt very important for me ...

About LineageOS4MicroG & LineageOS
LineageOS unofficial fork with built-in microG gapps implementation.
Full Play Services compatibility [Well-almost...YMMV]
Our ROM has built-in microG free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space apps and libraries. This enables you to use every Google service you need without keeping another closed-source binary blob in your Android system.
Native F-Droid support
LineageOS for microG comes with F-Droid already installed. You can use it to access plenty of FOSS applications or even a Play Store bridge repository like Playmaker or GPlayWeb.
About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Rom Built by Bernie_nixKnown issues:
USB-C headphones work for music, watching videos, etc. They don't work in the phone app...yet. (working on this)
Some users report VOIP calls don't work properly. YMMV. Skype, Whatsapp, Nextcloud Talk, working great for me.
Automatic updates not yet implemented but will be in a future build.
You tell me.
Install Instructions(If coming from stock or another rom):
Prerequisites: Coming from stock rom with bootloader unlocked, Developer settings enabled, android debugging enabled.
(1) ADB reboot bootloader,
(2) Fastboot boot twrp.img
(3) Install copy A/B partitions zip,
(4) Select Wipe button, Advanced Wipe, Choose: Dalvik/ART Cache, Data, Internal Storage, System. Then Swipe to Wipe all of these.
(5) Select Back arrow button
(6) Select Format Data Button. Type yes
(7) Select Install button. Choose rom zip. Swipe to confirm flash.
(8) Press back arrow button 2x to get back to main screen. Select Wipe button. Select format data button. Type yes.
(9) Reboot. Phone will mention "no os installed." Ignore it. Proceed with reboot. Phone will boot twice, then take you to the lineage recovery screen. Use volume down button to select Factory data reset, press power button, select yes to delete data. Phone will reboot into lineageos4microg.
DO NOT install twrp installer/orange fox installer until after phone boots into lineageos4microg or it will not boot. After you have setup lineageos, you can then reboot into twrp and install orange fox or twrp and magisk if you choose. Do not ever install any GAPPS on this ROM.
Upgrade Instructions(If coming from one of my previous builds):
(1) ADB reboot bootloader,
(2) Fastboot boot twrp.img
(3) Select Install button. Choose rom zip. Swipe to confirm flash.
(4) Select Wipe button, Advanced Wipe, Choose: Dalvik/ART Cache
(5) Reboot(6) If you had Magisk installed, you can then reboot into TWRP/Ofox and flash magisk.zip
Tips for Use
1. Root can be enabled in this build by going to Developer Settings->Root Access->Apps and ADB
2. To turn off battery led when charging, Settings>Apps & notifications>Notifications>Battery Light
3. To set up Microg,
(1) open MicroG app,
(2) press self-check, press battery optimizations ignored and allow,
(3) go back one screen, select unified nlp settings, configure location backends, press the checkbox next to mozilla location service and ok, configure address lookup backends, press checkbox next to nominatum and ok,
(4) then go through Google services from top to bottom and enter your information.
(5) Enable location from pull-down shade. Open maps, get your location. Go back to Microg. Run self-check. All boxes should show a check.
(6) Microg is setup in less than 5 minutes and fully working.
(7) Turn off location from pull-down shade bc they're tracking you 4. Want a better GPS experience? Install Deja Vu Location Service, GSM Location Service and Radiocells.org Unified Network Location Provider Backend from F-Droid. Works great with Google Maps or OSM.
5. Looking for a great camera? Try Hypercam for Moto G7 from gcambrasil at https://gcambrasil.com.br/motorola
1. After installing, go to internal storage, create folder "gcam" (without quotes), create folder "Configs" inside of "gcam," and place the Pixelmod_byJGB.xml (attached) file in that folder.
2. Open up Hypercam, double tap on black space near camera button, load Pixelmod_byJGB.xml file.

Hypercam works like a charm, thank you for the suggestion! does hyper cam rely on anything google related like services or frameworks or binarys? (not sure what to call it since im not a developer) i'm wondering because I own a pixel 3a and im thinking of installing graphene os but any apps that rely on those ran on those will not work on graphene

Hypercam is ported from gcam so YMMV. Given that it works on this ROM with microg, if it has any hooks they probably aren't deep. I'd give it a go
I've been a user of root explorer (pro) for seven+ years or so now. I side loaded the apk that I extracted from a previous setup on my phone and it works perfect. Some may already know that but just figured I'd share. Awesome job on this rom! Appreciate you sharing your builds!! :good:

Couple questions.. What busy box are you using and where did you get it? I've been using Osmosis’s magisk module busy box for so long idk where to even begin. haha. I attempted to install one from fdroid but it failed install. Can I flash his busy box in recovery? Probably not because we are using the LOS built in root instead of magisk correct? Would all hell break loose if I flashed magisk root now and something would possibly get messed up? Thinking if that's what I wanted I would have had to flash it in the beginning so it would over ride the other root...?
This rom runs better than anything besides ugly stock moto on my device. I was off work yesterday so I started messing with my device, hours went by and my battery barely moved at all. Not having Google play services really saves a good bit of juice. Havoc has spoofing now too. I vote that it becomes mandatory for all roms to have signature spoofing. :victory: Should call it the ImNOtgoingback rom or something. I’ve used micro g and fdroid before on previous devices but never for as long as I've been using this. Im like a binge crackflasher nowadays instead -vs- back when Euroskank CM10 bacon was on and popping every morning at around 6am central time the world would all flash. One last thing.. Do you decrypt your data or leave it encrypted? Reason I ask is I was wondering what method you do or would do if you wanted to decrypt?
This rom really runs great! Anyone who hasn't tried this yet should!
Edit
Ps: I've used many great gcams but HyperCam is most definitely at the top of my list. It reminds me of the pictures my Pixel XL used to take. Awesome camera app! Thanks for recommending it and sharing links!
not being picky, but can we have a regular LOS build please? I mean, without microG.
The last syberhexen one is dated 2019-10-01 so it would be nice to have an update to it.

You're right, but it's not easy to be a maintainer - and use your free time to resolve problems for others.
Maybe you should try to create your own build using code created by more advanced users synced with latest LineageOS repo.
If you're interested in that, here's an attached manifest file which would build working LineageOS 16.0 for ocean with February security patch - I'm using such one right now(built 3 days ago), but with microg. It's all possible thanks to LineageOS team and Dark98 (and many others) work, as you can see.
Good luck

That would be great!
In the meantime, i've built and updated my LOS 16 as attached - forgot to add screenshot previously.

Not from me. I build this for personal use, share it and have no interest in a vanilla los build. Robson is correct. Go with his build of you don't want microg.

Thank you for your kind words! I use busybox from osmosis via magisk module; yes, I enjoy magisk on this rom. Busybox (osmosis) actually makes apps like Titanium Backup work great if you've purchased a non-Google play license file from them. This rom is my personal build that I uploaded to xda and shared, and I plan on maintaining it for some time. So...Magisk flashed via twrp/ofox works great, and so does busybox magisk.
+1 on your comment about Hypercam. Completely agree about hypercam. I've tested a lot on this device and of course am open to suggestions.
I will update this rom via the Lineageos patches, however, the Feb update hasn't been pushed yet so no new rom for now. I have isolated a few bugs, e.g. usb-c for calls and am working on OTA, however, I am going to release a surprise test build in the next couple of days (hopefully). It's building as we speak, and I will test before releasing. Stay tuned, and I look forward to yours and others feedback and questions.
P.S. I am a linux user and believe in the power of open-source. If you or others have any questions or comments, feel free to reach me via the telegram link in the 1st post; I usually answer a bit quicker there but also answer on here. Best wishes and thanks again!

generally audio is lower quality than stock rom, it's not as loud and not as clear.

Indeed sir, it doesn't help all that much for me though.

I accompany this sentiment. It happens with most Motorola Moto G devices I own and use: if kept with stock builds both camera and audio have a far better quality than custom ROMs do. Motorola engineers do hell of a job when working on their OEM firmware. It is a real shame yet not so far from reality that we need to take these tradeoffs to obtain better privacy.
An idea that comes to mind is for us to debloat the stock build, bake in microG and possibly update security patches as they come out. Motorola Moto G1 (falcon) has something alike with IDCrisis - https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-identity-crisis-6-t3324595
Thank you for the heads-up, though. I definitely love the audio on stock.

Unfortunately you can't do that with stock. Microg requires signature spoofing enabled in the ROM which is a patch applied when building a ROM. You could try patching stock to enable signature spoofing with a tool like Heystack but it most likely won't work on stock. Another route is using another ROM with signature spoofing support e.g. crdroid or omni, applying signature spoofing patch if necessary and then patching in twrp with something like nanodroid patcher.
That being said I am working through desired edits and bugs in this ROM but can't provide any ETAs. I encourage anyone with a bit of coding experience or interest to build their own and learn. Making changes to rom builds is not hard, just time consuming and unfortunately doesnt pay the bills...so its done in hobby time. I do plan on maintaining this ROM for some time though and will probably be on Pie longer than most users until 10 is ready; right now 10 has way too many bugs for me to use or build for daily driver material.

ROM ❯ PIXEL 4A 5G ❯ OFFICIAL ❯ ProtonAOSP 11

ProtonAOSP
Android 11 ROM
ProtonAOSP is a minimal Android fork (custom ROM) focused on UI/UX and performance, with a touch of privacy.
Usage with my Proton Kernel is recommended to get the most out of your phone. The ROM does not include Proton Kernel, so you will need to flash it yourself. The ROM will still work with other kernels, but you will not get the benefits of Proton Kernel.

Installation
This ROM is currently distributed as factory images, similar to stock. Flash it the same way you would flash stock factory images. Don't forget to wipe all data using "fastboot -w" before booting the ROM.
Firmware is included, so there is no specific requirement for which version of the stock ROM you are coming from.
You can also use the quick & easy web installer, which allows you to install and update the ROM from any computer or phone without using the command line. The installer works entirely within your web browser and completes in as little as 4 minutes, depending on the speed of your internet connection. Consider using the web installer instead of installing manually.

Thank you very much for posting this. I'll definitely be checking it out. Your Proton kernel is quite good already. Interested to see how the ROM functions too.
Really appreciate you building and sharing this for us!
I saw in the P5 thread that it may be possible to get call screening to work if the dialer gets systemized. It's a feature that has really come in handy for me so just want to confirm it will get call screening working.
To confirm, I just need to put GoogleDialer.apk into product/priv-app?
Alternatively, could I just use something like Titanium backup to make it a system app?
TIA

Check out the magisk module systemizer, it's pretty good. I think you're right about all that.
Says microg support. So is does that mean microg is included? Or are standard "gapps" included?

microG is supported on the non-gapps build, not included. The gapps build includes full gapps.
Thank you for awesome rom, big plus for microg support. Will flash as soon as my Bramble arrives.
did flash all. now google logo, then a fire with beaker on screen.
edit: nevermind...guess that was the loading screen. took a few minutes. didn't seem like a "loading screen"
I am new to ADB AS my old phone used TWRP. Do I need to unlock the bootloader? Is it recommented to Start Form stock ROM, because I am currently on LineageOS? It is MicroG ready, does it mean that install MicroG via F-Droid, or do I install it like it is drscribed there at the Installation instructions?

You do need to unlock the bootloader. Switching from LineageOS should work, but you will need to wipe data as always.
microG should be installed from F-Droid after installing the ROM.

Thank you very much. I flashed it and it rebooted directly to the OS. Afterwards I installed your Kernel. The OS feels fast, but in comparison to Lineage for the same Phone, it feels slower. If you swipe for the action center, it is very slow and laggy. If you swipe for task manager and swipe through the recent apps, it lags. Are there any similar experiences?

The lag in those specific locations is caused by the frosted glass blur effect. Disable it in developer options if you want to trade it off for performance instead. The blur performance problems should be addressed in future versions.

Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to a new release. For now I stick to LOS. Could you tell me the procedure for updating your ROM? Is it possible to dirty flash the update, so I don't need to backup my data externally?

I tried to use Magisk Systemizer and Titanium Backup to move this into a system app, but there's not enough free space in what I'm assuming is the system partition (Titanium Backup just labels it the "System ROM").
I tried to uninstall some of the system apps using Titanium Backup and SD Maid Pro but both failed to be able to remove any "expendable" system apps.

Yes, you can dirty flash updates to my ROM. Clean flashes are only necessary when switching from another ROM.

With dynamic partitions, the system partition is perfectly sized to hold exactly the amount of data the ROM has in it, so there will always be no free space. You need to use Magisk to systemize apps.

Dynamically sized partitions explains the "no free space" (and it makes total sense to layout the system partition this way). I was trying to use Magisk Systemize, took me revisiting it to realize that I didn't have Busybox installed. Installing the Magisk BusyBox module enabled me to Systemize the Phone app. Many thanks!
