T95 Allwinner H616 TV Box - Android Stick & Console AllWinner based Computers

Just thought I would post regarding this box. Not much information on it.
I bought on a whim without realising the one thing I wanted was missing (Bluetooth). However the box has grown on me.
Its powered by the new Allwinner H616 Chip. However its performance sucks. For some reason they have forced CPU to 1.4GHz all the time. No point in my opinion, it just causes it to heat up for no reason.
Anyways, it comes fully rooted. I did try and install SuperSU, ended up killing root. So I reflashed it using usb flasher. There is also a new firmware update, which shows when doing wireless update.
Firmware released is 10.1.12, update takes it up to 10.1.14. So I did update and then factory reset to start fresh. The only problem is, rom is such a mess. App folders every where and system is filled to 100%. I deleted bloat in /system/pre-install folder.
I stopped rooting stuff years ago, so Magisk is newish to me. I thought I would try Magisk manager. Worked great, was able to install Magisk. From then on all root apps worked as I was able to set root access, which is something I could not do before. I also installed kernel auditor and set read ahead on and tweaked the build.prop. This helped speed it up, now stuff like Emulators no longer jerk and stutter.
One downside, Prime video does not work, you have to use Amazon Video (which is their browser alternative).
So hope this helps anyone with the same box.

Can you specify what changes did you to make it run faster? Were you able replace/disable Alice ux?

Hi. Can you please share your firmware file as my android box stops working after 5 minutes. I have tried to do a factory reset but it did not help.

Yes, I was. I installed another launcher like the ATV launcher. Made that the default launcher and then disabled the aclie ux through adb using "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>".

I installed SMART Launcher, but every time I restart TANIX TX6s Alice UX returns as the default launcher.
I did a test forcing to uninstall ALICE UX but the TX6s didn't boot anymore.
I decided to apply the firmware again. I never used ADB SHELL commands manually. I'll read about it.
Very grateful for the tip.

[TX6s] Android TV Box - Alice UX - Launcher Change Help?

I tried magisk manager, loaded on an old version sitting on a memory card and updated it, then I flashed 20.4 magisk with it and both are showing as installed and up-to-date. I still haven't seen any root dialogue and magiskSU is blank. so... do I have 2 root solutions on my device at the same time, one system pre-installed and one systemless ?
EDIT: turning off the root switch and rebooting allowed magisk to pick up the remaining root apps that had superSU through the built-in root. it also allowed adaway to finally install systemless hosts.
turn off root if you flashed magisk via magisk manager don't be a numbskull like me.
I'd be happier if I had TWRP onboard, is there a way to achieve this currently ?

installing titanium from the playstore I was able to freeze the stock ATV YouTube app and replace it with YouTube Vanced 14.21.54 (no more adverts, but tricky navigation) so if Alice is the launchers name freezing that should work with titanium. I watched a video review and using other android TV launchers, works just fine.

I know this is an old thread, but can anyone assist with the TWRP recovery .IMG for the above box or for the H40 Allwinner H616 box..
I need it to temporarily boot into recovery to flash magisk but can't seem to find it anywhere.
PS I have the ZIP but do not want to permanently flash it....

use Magisk Manager to install Magisk, the box is already rooted so this can work.
AFAIK there is no TWRP for this device, nor any roms. we'd need to be passing around a collection plate for donations to a Dev before we were likely to see anything.

Mine is a H40 ....
Same chipset / board, however mine says it's not rooted. I know this rom works on my box, sm1s tested it. How ever all I need is magisk working, so I can fix the gplay certification error. I have apps that need it to work...

check settings / device preferences / about /... see if you have an option called root switch which must toggle root access on and off.

It doesn't. But thanks. I have been able to patch my bootloader to install Magisk

has anyone here tried Edxposed and can report that it works OK ?
I don't have a PC to reflash the device if it goes wrong but I need to get minmin guard onboard as I passionately hate intrusive ads.
if you do have it working which version of Rirucore did you use ?
DON'T USE EDXPOSED both YAHFA and SandHook latest versions lead to a soft brick!
YAHFA let's you get a lot further into the process, but activating 3 modules was enough to ''corrupt'' the rom.
now it's either factory reset or try removing files via ADB on a borrowed laptop. I've suffered so that you don't have to. God I miss TWRP.

Hi!
I tried flash T95's firmware (because of root) i Transpeed h616 (no root), has same device-specification, but It doesn't boot.
Do you know why? Shall I unlock boot-loader first? If yes then fastboot oem unlock works?
Thanks

Yes y are right. I deleted links. If you want to root y can use: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65188654&postcount=45. It works - I did root Z380C.
@vecino:
I did as described in the above link u posted.
I did a Factory Reset, didnt update.
The fasboot method worked, used it with:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem unlock confirm
fastboot boot root-v2-z380c.img
Installed SuperSU, but no idea what it does.
Is it working now?

NOTE: I've managed to root it using a mixture of https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65188654&postcount=45 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...d-10-z300c-t3214802/post65422483#post65422483 .
Solution: It was the SuperSU I had to open up first, running in the background, so it would ask for permission when Root Basic Checker checked it.
@snowseals: Your steps are allright. If you now run SuperSU app what is saying?
It now says it is rooted!

Is it possible to use Xposed on this device to get rid off the ZenUI ?
Xposed - I don't know. Z380 own my kids.
It doesnt have to be Xposed, but atleast I want to make it run more smooth.
1) by removing bloatware (using root + uninstall master app)
2) by custom rom (i.e. Xposed or...) ?
3) any other recommendations? I see Greenify/Amplify being mentioned?
1) Titanium Backup or anything else.
2) Custom rom - unfulfilled wish yet
3) I prefer Naptime - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.doze

Thanks! :good:
1) Titanium I've installed and going to make a backup for System and Apps.
I assume this backup is needed in case you remove something which causes the system to get unstable right?
But if it causes too much instability, like not starting up nomore, how can you run the backup afterwards?
2) I've searched alot, but it seems there is no Custom ROM for Z380C out-there yet.
the_mechanical tried but failed here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71498513&postcount=13
3) I tried Naptime, but it seems not compatible with Android 5.0.2. Greenify it is for me (since Amplify needs Xposed).
the_mechanical has some tips what to disable here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71671116&postcount=15
1) I know what I can uninstall. If will be any problem you can use Asus AFT flash tool with RAW image for rollback - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65929688&postcount=210.
2) Probably not
3) Yes you are right. Naptime is working only on 6.0+.
Thanks for your answers!

[GUIDE] XPOSED on FIRE STICK

For those who use Xposed framework and would like to use it on the Fire stick ive managed to find a way how to install xposed v85 on Fire stick without a recovery.
Ive successfully installed it onto my own Fire Stick and a friends Fire stick.
Before you go on im not responsible for any bricking you might encounter.
Your more than welcome to wait for Rbox to release a custom recovery for the stick.
Please note, im only passing on what i found and tried, i did not make the tool.
Be very careful on what modules you install, again im not responsible for any bricks that might arise.
This obviously requires root. Im rooted with kingoroot.
The Fire sticks i tested where on 5.0.5 and 5.2.1.0
If your on a higher firmware version and are rooted use this guide and come back:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/fire-tv-stick-downgrade-firestarter-3-2-t3399298
Im explaining the guide from a windows pc and using the program ADBlink to transfer files, if your going to do this a different way please modify instructions to suit.
First download this:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=13649473132596741692
Next extract the folder to your desktop.
Open up ADBlink and connect to your Fire stick.
Upload the entire contents to your Fire sticks internal sd card, (make sure the files are going to /sdcard).
Head over to your Fire stick and install busybox, open busybox up and click install and wait till its finished.
Very important to click install inside of the Busybox app, if it wont let you exit the app and try again. You will have problems trying to run the script further in the guide
Install Terminal (not sure if this step is necessary as you will be using ADBlink's ADB Shell, but it was used when i found this info). Finally install Xposed installer, make sure you DO NOT open the Xposed apk yet, just click done.
Now if you used a different way to do this and the files are not in the /sdcard directory now is the time to move them to the /sdcard directory.
Back over to windows pc.
Click ADB Shell in ADBlink (you should have it still open and connected to your Fire stick).
Type the following commands:
su then hit enter.
sh /sdcard/installer.bin then hit enter.
Choose option 1 hit enter.
You will see alot of errors, ignore these and restart your Fire Stick.
It will take a while to boot and go to the optimizing apps screen and take about 10 minutes to boot up.
After its booted go ahead and check Xposed is installed !
Again im not responsible for anyone's Fire Stick and/or any modules you may try.

Ive just got the time to test this on a brand new Fire Stick and can confirm it also.
Thanks @metallica

Working Modules: (not limited to, just ones ive tried or been told work)
AdBlocker
Lucky Patcher
RootCloak
SpotifySkip
YouTube AdAway
RboxFireTvMods v1.4 *This mod will hide stock launcher without disabling settings* (finally got amazon screen launcher gone)
*update*
I should of included this information when I made the guide but in order to be able to select and activate any xposed mod in xposed menu after you have installed it using the fire stick remote alone will not allow you to navigate to the checkbox and put a tick into it.
In order to do this you must have an app to turn the remote into a mouse or some other way to manoeuvre the pointer.
The 3 ways I know of doing this are:
1/ Mouse toggle for fire tv. This is the easiest way but its a paid app. Download it from Google play and send it to your Fire TV.
2/ Droidmote server, agaim another paid app from Google play store but this must have Google play store/services installed as to allow for license check. There is a guide to follow to have this installed on here somewhere.
3/ Use Bluetooth mouse if you have one.
4/ Use an USB mouse with an OTG connector, the commands to start OTG are on AFTVnews.com, I have this command autorun at boot to enable otg after a restart (very handy).
There may be other ways but these are the omes ive had experience with and use myself.
As per usual I recommend that you wait for a working recovery system, if you install something from an Xposed Module & it bricks your Stick you will have no way back! Rbox is working on the recovery & a prerooted rom for the stick. Use at your own risk I would say.... this is just a helping hand & I'm not trolling your thread, just some newer users may not know the risks.

I think I have made my point already about the risks involved and im almost certain that anyone wanting xposed on the fire stick will already know the risks, as with anything involving root/xposed etc.
I have tested this myself and know it works and have listed some modules I have installed that work fine. As long as people stay away from modules that are definitely no use to fire stick and heavily moddify /system (im sure when reading the description of modules it will say in the write up about them) I cant see there being any problems.
I will continue to list any modules that I find are of any use to fire stick and list them here. If people want to wait for a custom recovery that is there choice, as ive pointed out in the guide. In my eyes everything you have said is already pointed out in the first post.
Also I will add as long as your Rooted and have a working adb connection either through WiFi or USB there is a chance you can come back from a bricked state with my other guide I put together.

Ive no idea if this works with gen 1 FTV. With the gen 1 FTV now having custom recovery you could flash the zip the normal way to have xposed on (Im sure you would flash the same version, arm 22?) please double check that first.
I put this guide together for use with the fire stick, as it has not got a custom recovery and we cant use the tool flashify.
I use the latest version of youtube downloaded directly from within the fire sticks interface.

Well it's gen 1 but running OS5 so I'm pretty confident it'll work but was just hoping for confirmation (if not from you then anyone who may've tried it).
That's interesting that the adaway is working with amazon stock youtube. I used to sideload one from playstore and it had it's glitches because it was designed for tablets. Even the android tv version wasn't perfect but the ads got blocked at least.

Since theres a custom recovery in place for fire tv 1 if I was you too minimise any risk id follow the guides on AFTVnews on installing TWRP recovery. Then at least if you run into problems you can restore it.
I have xposed on my gen 2 fire tv and im sure its 64bit version, but the gen 1 and fire stick are just normal arm version(sdk22 for 5.1)
Yes, the stock amazon youtube, whole better experience when ads are removed.
I followed the guide and successfully installed xposed and a few modules (AdBlocker, YouTube AdAway, and RboxFireTvMods).
Unfortunately, somewhere along the way I lost the stock launcher. My firestick is on OS v5.0.5 as per the guide and I also have FireStarter V.3.2.3 installed and running fine, so my firestick isn't useless. I can still launch FireTV Settings from the apps menu but FireTV Home is no longer there. I also made sure that it wasn't just hidden and oddly enough it is still listed under the hidden apps menu, although I have it unchecked so that it should be visible.
Is there some way that you are aware of to get the Stock launcher back without factory resetting?

Ahh, that was the problem. Thank you very much for the quick and informative reply!
I need to do some more research into that module. It appears from the reading that I should be able to use the stock launcher with it enabled since it has options for modifying what is displayed in the stock launcher. Of course this all should be addressed in that post. Its good to highlight that this may occur for other people though. Thanks again!

Your welcome.
The mod is quite old and has not been updated in a while.
It is useful to disable the stock launcher, that is what I use it for, disabling certain things from the Amazon launcher is broke, im not sure if and when Rbox is updating it.
There is a guide I followed to remove some menu features before (photos, music etc) through adb commands.
The same thing can be accomplished by using Titanium backups freeze feature as long as you know which ones to disable.
Here are the ones I disabled on my fire stick:
package:com.amazon.precog
package:com.amazon.recess
package:com.amazon.whisperplay.contracts
package:com.amazon.bueller.photos
package:com.amazon.kindle.cms
package:com.amazon.client.metrics
package:com.amazon.device.software.ota
package:com.amazon.whisperlink.core.android
package:com.amazon.application.compatibility.enforcer
package:com.amazon.whisperplay.service.install
package:com.amazon.device.software.ota.override
package:com.amazon.bueller.music

The latest one downloaded directly from Amazon.
I have the same set up on my fire tv 4k box with latest youtube and xposed youtube adaway and it works on that also.
I might add also make sure you have the latest xposed framework installed.
I can confirm, this Xposed installation work with 5.2.1.0 too, have successfull installed on my rooted Firestick in my Kitchen xD experimental tested *fg*
damn good work. @sconnyuk can you build a installer for fully working google play? Just a idea.

EDIT: Adaway and Rbox Tools working without issue

Thats good news. I will test this myself and update the guide tomorrow.
As for Google playstore, that would be the icing on the cake, its what im trying to find an answer for at the moment.
The closest and next best thing I have is my Google account and Google services setup so im able to use my paid apps that do a license check.
Also using DroidMote on firestick is excellent.
morning, i install it on my firestick (same config) in the living room to see it will work again...
but i'm sure it will work

Only way I can think of Google play store installation would be with flashify:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ery&pcampaignid=APPU_1_kWqFV-OkMevCgAa28oSIAg
With gapps version arm-5.1-pico from this page:
http://opengapps.org
BUT IVE NOT TESTED THIS.......
As im unsure if flashing this would brick the device.?
Has anyone tried using Flashfire?
http://flashfireapk.com
I'm just curious. It works on Fire Tablet running OS5 and I've ONLY used it on that. I'm not looking to possibly contribute to a bricked device, just wondering if it's been tried...
Feels like I'm beating a dead horse, but I can't understand why Youtube Adaway isn't working with Youtube 1.2.0 on my device. Pretty sure that's the latest version because there's no update available. According to others it works.
***What would be cool is to get Awesome Popup video to work fully with xposed. I was able to use it on OS3 but never could get it working right--open youtube video, have option of playing in a smaller window while I go to another app.
All I could do was get it to work with videos from within the awesome popup UI, which is no where near as good (much smaller selection, can't access your subscriptions, playlists, etc.)

You could try the obvious, uninstall youtube disable xposed mod reboot, reinstall youtube from Amazon and re enable xposed mod.
As for flashfire, it won't work as it requires chainfires supersu.
Until a way tp swap kingoroot for supersu comes along then we can only wait for custom recovery.
second firestick running 5.2.1.0 in living room successfull xposed installed after small issue (newest kingo root from homepage must be installed)
think this with Kingo Root is a important information!
after rbox tools, stick start faster *fg*

I think now I can Root. Because my phone now have another rom . I got this new rom from official Jio Care . I went there because I bricked my device when tried to flash a recovery found from the internet. I tried this flashing because the 'factory test mode' was gone after I tried to root with king root .it was showing a 'no command' error when I am trying to go to 'factory test mode' I did that flashing only to restore that. But it ended in a bricked device. So I had to go there and they helped me. I also asked them for stock rom but they didn't give me. I didn't check king root yet with this rom. The current rom i have is same as yours. Ls 4006.
But I don't clearly think which I had before. I guess that was Ls 4007.

Hello.. I tried again. But King Root still not working.
Can you give full details about your OS.
Since you have successfully rooted your device, you are now able to make a full ROM backup of your device. Can you make and upload your ROM and recovery backup here in XDA. ?
That will help many.

So have you uninstalled all those bloatwares from your phone .?
If you did so , you had any problems because of the so-called system app removal?.
I'm asking this because I used to disable all those useless system apps , but as a result this phone was restarting frequently without my knowledge. So I did suspect this app disabling and so I restored all these disableed apps. And then the problem solved. You had any issues like this,?
Now I heard about an bloatware removal tool and I wish to try that to get a rid of this bloatwares.
What you say?

I want remove
Google keyboard
Play newsstand
Play music
play movies
play books
Hangouts
Google Plus
Jio drive
Slides
Sheets
Docs
Google Chrome etc.
I'm a little worried because I don't have any stock rom backup so if something went wrong like something I mentioned in the above post , I have to go again the LYF Care . So you please just check whether all those apps mentioned above are removed or not.
If you still have any apps mentioned above just take it's backup apk using SD Maid and uninstall those apps. So that you can check whether any system instability arises due to the uninstallation.
Please check right now and tell me. I'm waiting for your reply.

You would probably be doing so for freeing up some system space.I will suggest you to update app to system(apps like play store, play services and some other useful system apps keep the original system stock app even if you update the application). So you should integrate update to system which will remove the old system app by updated one so you will have much more free space and whenever you factory reset your device ,you will get the updated system apps installed.

I have downloaded those files you have uploaded. I have a few questions about it.
Did you ever tried to flash it to phones other than yours. ?
If you have done it, did you flash it using just fastboot or used any other special software?
You have also provided a twrp recovery. But that recovery doesn't have boot.img and system.img missing. That doesn't seems okay . Are you sure about it ? Please check it.
How did you root your device?
I been trying Kingroot for a while but it's not working for me.
My build number is LYF_LS_01_12
I am also planning to build a custom ROM based on the stock ROM because in the latest update, they made the icons look really ugly . Also it will be a practice for me learn custom ROMing.
But before I proceed, your suggestions would be helpful for me.
So please make some time to answer those questions above.
Once again thank you very much for your effort to upload those files with that slow connection.
Very thank full to you

I'm no developer yet but I thought you are. I was so happy when I see those files. It's sad when you says not flashable.
But okay , I am learning about flashing and custom ROMing and I will do my level best to help you guys.
I will be soon starting a new thread with full details about those files given by you. Let's see what Devs here talks about it. I really need to root and custom ROM it. Only problem is that I don't have any other phone for testing. I got only this one for all of my needs. I thought you already flashed it in your phone.
Anyway, thanks for your help and let's see what I can do.
Bye. See you .

[SCRIPT] Nougat DEBLOAT Script

Samsung Nougat DEBLOAT script
Hello everyone,
Galaxy S6 comes with much more bloatware than most other phones, it has apps preinstalled that some of us probably will never use.
Some of those apps may even run at boot and consume RAM and CPU. For this purpose I made a small very effective script and that will remove huge amount of applications. This script works on de-odexed and odexed ROMs and you can use it even for Marshmallow ROMs, so this is ALL-IN-ONE solution.
I created the script when Nougat came out and I use it all the time without any problems.
* You can easily edit script and add character ' # ' to exclude certain APP from deleting *

bootlop with a fresh 7.0 rom

bootloop
You may want to keep YouTube. If you delete it then Google Play will crash if you click on a video. Still not a problem because you can always install it back from the market.
I strongly suggest that you keep one of the two browsers. Android must have at least one browser to function properly. Google Play also needs one browser. So either keep the samsung browser or chrome. Don't delete both at the same time.
If the device already upgraded chrome then your script will only delete the "rom" version of it, so everything will be ok and still working fine because the newer version resides in "ram". On a new/clean device, that will boot a rom for the very first time, and/or google play is not yet registered, deleting both browsers might cause problems.
Some programs are there to run only once at the very first boot, just to populate the file system with the default config values and data files/folders needed for the device to function. If a device had its first (long 5-10 minute) boot then deleting those is fine, always assuming you will not run a factory reset at some point in the future.
Other programs are there and run only if you dial specific codes at the dialer. The camera upgrade firmware or the wlan test for example. They don't run if they are not needed. A lot of debloat guides suggest that you remove those but i don't see a reason why.
You can always create some ScriptBackup/{app,priv-app} folders and move the bloatware apks there instead of deleting them. I would like to be able to bring back the QuickConnect and Gear apks back because i have a gear watch and a samsung tv for example.

Just edit the script to not delete those things.. even states how to do it in the O.P.
Bootloop on latest 7.0 - To see if one of the apps being removed is causing the bootloop I commented out all but a couple of apps (the Microsoft stubs) and tried that on a fresh install, but it still causes a bootloop.
I had the same problem... just look for this: Orel_MadK_Extreme_Debloater_V5_Final worked on my SM-G928F fresg Nougat install IMPORTANT: Dont tick one app for yourself...just leave it standard.
Works perfectly, even added all google apps so device runs better
Can we get this as a Aroma installer ?

Android P Debloat

I upgraded successfully to pie, but was getting bootloops after debloating (using same app list i use in oreo), i use titanium backup to freeze or Uninstall apps.
The bootloop was caused when Uninstalling the AVG protection app, so instead this app should be freezed if not needed.
Maybe this info help someone else doing a XZ1 debloating.
u must non-active All the Device admin, then u can start debloat with Titanium backup....
do that step when u want experiment with PIE system
i was not know this method before, i found this method when frustate why my device Bootloop 3 times every uninstall stock App...
I got the same problem using titanuim and debloathed by simply search and delete the files using root explorer

I was debloating as well when my device decided to bootloop. What's funny is that I'd done this countless times on Oreo and never got a single bootloop. Apparently some of the apps are closely attached to the system core, that's my guess.

I don't think so ´cause if I debloat manually by deleting the files in file system it works like a charm.....but it´s of course a very timeconsuming way to do it.
I think there are some other system change with makes inconistencies in the system when titanium backup (and other) programs are used for debloat.
But of course, I have not debloated very "hard", just facebook, amazon, antivirus and some other small stuff.
Basically "debloat" means removal of app; since every ota will bring and active back removals, you should instead freeze annoying apps: Titanium or 3Ctools works fine with latest Magisk 17.3 on XZ1.
I have all these disabled without any hiccups/bootloop (including AVG):

For info, I've uploaded 2 app (light & oos) to check installed apk/statuses & trackers here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/dexdump-xodus-trackers-apk-static-t3833391
(Also uploaded are magisk systemless modules https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/magiskoreo-screenrecorder-t3801150 ; they work fine on Pie exception to wip dimNightLight.)
To use systemwide audioFX on videos, you must use Sony (bloated) Album app : conversely to what said in today xdaNews/XZs, with the 2x speakers or bluetooth only, I have Eq ClearBass and ClearAudio+ working , so it looks to be a bug/hiccup for wired earphones option (?).
If you don't like classic nav, check xda LMT and thread here for full screen : https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/adbnoroot-hide-nav-status-bars-screen-t3780327
EDIT what really bothers me is Swiftkey : Adjust + HockeyApp + GoogleAnalytics

Do you have your code somewhere on GitHub? Someone's asking for twrp for the xz1 compact in the dev section of xz1 forum.
I'd like to bounce ideas at you sometime later as well. @oF2pks

There's only one problem... It isn't part android one..
With latest 47.2.A.2.33-November Security Update and even the October one.
I've just found out that AVG Protection is the culprit that keeps breaking my phone when I forcibly remove it through titanium backup.
For now it's disabled but any attempts to delete it off the phone results in phone bootloop(at the sony logo). Every other junk app is been removed as always except for that one.
I'll dig around to see what I can find out about it's relationship to the OS.
------------------later----------
Using ES File explorer on root I was able to remove AVG antivirus without bootloop.
