Hi! I have a LG Exalt 4 (LGVN220), It's a 4G Flip phone running off of android. Officially it doesn't allow you to install apps unless it's signed by LG, but if you rename the package to com.android.cts."packagename" it allows it to install. The problem is when you try to use the app it doesn't either detect or allow you to use the regular physical keyboard, does anyone know how you can change the code (maybe in the android manifest...) so that it uses the physical keypad and not touchscreen (since the flip phone doesntn't have a touchscreen, only a keypad)?or how to code a cursor into different apps?

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a keyboard layout that has the letters in their "normal" places. I've tried a number of keyboard apps and none of them are laid out like a real keyboard.
While I'm at it, is there anyway to disable what I can only presume is "error correcting" that sometimes doesn't type a letter I press? I'll be typing a word like "well" and it will pop up the little preview on the keyboard as I type w and e, but only e will show up, presumably because it assumed that the w was a mi****. I've disabled all the obvious settings under keyboards in Settings. Perhaps it's a touchscreen thing, however, I'll look into it.
Also, with VEGAn 5.1, it's no longer acting correctly when connected to the PC via USB. It will appear to act correctly until I try to transfer a file at which point the PC hangs up and the connection is severed and the button on the gtab returns to "Turn On File Sharing". Not a deal breaker, but a bit annoying since now I have to transfer files via my micro sd card.
What is a normal keyboard for you ?

You know that keyboard layout changes from country to country !
It changes minimally for most countries using roman characters. But yes, a US or UK keyboard would do the trick. I don't care if backspace or shift or whatever are in odd places, that I can get used to, but I can't seem to find a keyboard that has the three main rows of keys offset in the standard manner. I realize this is undoubtedly a side effect of android 2.2/.3 being a phone OS on a tablet, but I would hope that there would be a real keyboard somewhere. Maybe I'll need to look into what's involved in making a keyboard app.

I suggest you keep trying with the Tnt Western keyboard that is stock on it.
I had never used a touch keyboard before and used the stock kb for the first
time. Since then, I have used a few others that got installed in place of the
stock kb.
I like the spread out letters and the split let's my long thumb also do the "thumb"
thing. I also like the .com and @ and other extra things it automagically brings
up when you need them.
Who knows? It may grow on you!!!

Does anyone know if the stock TnT Western Keyboard is available as an apk? I would really like to run this keyboard under CM7.

Not an expert on this, but yes, I'm pretty sure there is. You might search in the
forums -- this is not the first time someone has asked this. And yes, you might
also use Root Explorer or one of the other file managers to find it on the G-Tablet.

Hey to you, fellow forum members.
Recently I sold my laptop and decided to save a little bit of extra cash instead of buying a new one right away. For all I knew, I already had another personal computer in my pocket - the Galaxy S III. So I hooked it up with the cheapest bluetooth keyboard I could find - believe it or not - Apple's
However, I noticed that no matter what I do, I can not get it to type in my native language when using CM10. The keyboard has the additional key layout (not an international edition). When using stock Samsung software everything works fine, even 3rd party apps that support my language work flawlessly. That makes me believe that it's not a "feature" of Samsung's sotck keyboard app but rather something to do with system files. However the files responsible for keyboards (/system/usr/keychars & /system/usr/keylayout) are the same for both CM and stock, so that means the thing I'm looking for is something else, or I'm missing a crucial element.
So... what are the files I have to get from Samsung's stock firmware to make Apple's Wireless Keyboard work?

Hello. I am a new Android user who has purchased an RCA Viking Pro 10 2-in-1 Android Laptop running Android 6.0 with kernel version 3.18.22(not rooted). I use it to work on various projects on the go, offline about 95% of the time. I'm having some problems regarding the keyboard and cannot seem to root it. I would appreciate any help someone could offer.
My device is labeled as RCT6K03W13-Android6.0-v1.15.0-M00 and runs Android 6.0 kernel version 3.18.22. KingRoot fails to discover a rooting strategy, then tries anyway but fails. Please note that I have no other computer and only limited computer access.
The biggest issue involves to two cmd buttons that flank the spacebar. Pressing them opens Google App for a voice search, which I never use. This minimizes the app that I was using, starts google app, then minimizes that to show the search bar on the desktop (which I would also like to go away). Then a popup tells me that I'm not connected to the internet. Since I rarely am, this is extremely annoying. If I wanted to run a web search I would open Chrome myself. I certainly wouldn't want the results to appear in Google App, which doesn't work nearly as well. I blame RCA for poor design, placing hotkeys at the bottom of the keyboard where they're likely to be pressed accidentally (it is a small keyboard, after all).
I would like to remap the left and right Cmd buttons to the left and right mouse buttons. I tried External Keyboard Helper, but it can't remap the command buttons and won't remap anything to the mouse buttons anyway. The Viking Pro includes a touchpad mouse without buttons, which is fine for most Android users, but I intend to work extensively with Linux ports such as AndrOpen Office and GIMP Inkscape, and they require precision when dragging and dropping small objects.
Also, the two finger touchpad touch that's meant to simulate a right mouse button click works as a back button instead. I already have one of those on my screen and one on my keyboard, I certainly don't need a third. What I do need is a right mouse button. It should simulate a long press and/or the right button.
Unfortunately GIMP Inkscape and Pelya's linux translation layer don't run on Android 6, so I need to either run Linux Deploy, which requires ROOT, or go all out and just install Linux(perhaps Ubuntu Phone), which requires unlocking my boot manager. Perhaps I should have just bought a Linux Netbook instead, but the tablet was cheap and something about Android attracted me to it. I thought I would be able to find more g featured Linux ports, but Google did to good of a job when they monetized the package manager and locked out root access. I would think running x-11 over the framebuffer would be easy, and that people would port current versions of LibreOffice, Scribus, Inkscape, Blender, ext. I guess linux users are sore about google stealing Linux's thunder when they released Android just as Linux on phones, tablets, and netbooks was gaining traction.
As an old DOS gamer and amateur Linux programmer, I'm not averse to manually editing cfg files (or to setting jumpers to configure my hardware). Unfortunately, I'm new to Android and have limited internet access. Any help someone could offer to a 90s geek with out-of-date computer skills due to some legal problems would be greatly appreciated (the empty wallet hardly helps things).

notice not all apps have this prob. mostly apps built on cross platform engine like xamarin etc have this prob, but if app was developed in android studio it definitely works . unfortunately, your only way around this is to rewrite the app in android specific ide... good luck
I was hoping that someone can help me with a couple of Ready For questions:
Wanting to try out Ready For PC that is present in the newer Motorola phones, does anyone know if it is possible get the APK and try it out? This phone does wired Ready For just fine when used with an external display.
I also wonder if anyone has any app recommendations or knows of any apps that allow the use of widgets on the Ready For desktop when connected to an external display? I really like being able to dock my phone and use the phone simulator on the display while opening up another app or two to use while working, but I think using the standard desktop widgets would be killer. I have tried a few apps meant for DeX without much luck, the only one that has been useful is SecondScreen to change the density of my 3200x1800 14" touch display that I am using with the phone.
