International x global version - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

Sorry If i'm being dumb but i am considering getting a Mi A3 this week and i want to know If I can find out If its global or international right at the store?
I saw some have an extra simbol on its back like an C.E. what does It mean?
What is the diferences between booth versions? I Heard some dont run apps like Netflix and dont get OTA ... is that right?
Thanks

Global and international are the same thing.
The 2 versions are EU and Global.
The differences is the EU version respects European legislation when it comes to data protection and the like.
There is no difference. They are exactly the same. You can flash EU onto global and vice versa.
Global version receives updates slightly quicker than EU version also

Last update was to 1.1.0.5. version MI11 Android 10 with security patch date 01-01-2020.
So security update to 01-02-2020 will be coming soon.
Hi
Was this an OTA update?
Would 9t be the same as the k20 pro?

Thanks for replying. My phone is sitting at 11.0.1, and I am not picking up a OTA update. What could be the reason?

You're probably on the MIUI global rom that's (for now) 'stuck' at 11.0.1. Whereas the op is probably on MIUI's EU/EEA rom that's 'already' on 11.0.3.

Thanks. I am indeed on the global Rom. What are the differences?
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
I honestly have no idea. I used both and I only noticed 2 differences:
1. The global rom says LTE in the statusbar and the EEA/EU rom says 4G
2. Swiping up from the home screen with stock launcher opens up xiaomi browser on the EEA rom and Google search on the global rom.
I googled a bit but haven't found no official statement from Xiaomi. Some people say there's no ads on EEA but I honestly never had ads in MIUI wether it be global or EEA.
Other people say the EEA rom (finally) complies with the European GDPR which makes sense and also means that there's no access to the theme store. Tho the global rom already has no access to theme store if you set your region to the EU countries.
Both EEA and Global lack features like the ultra battery saving mode (for now), so I honestly don't think there's much of a difference, despite the version difference (11.0.3 and 11.0.1).
However there might be differences in update frequency but I haven't figured that one out yet. All I can tell is that the EEA rom received Miui 11 way faster/earlier.
Thanks so much for the super detailed response. Interestingly, so I believe, I'm on the global Rom and mine says 4g and 4g+
Not sure how related or unrelated it is but I am able to get Vowifi on my p20 Pro but nothing at all on my xiaomi [emoji24]

The Global EU Rom has to comply to the EU law for privacy protection and uses for example the Android Phone interface.
The eventual Ad's that can be shown is completely dependable of the users choice and you must allow or refuse it during setup and when already setup you can revoke you choice of showing them and switch them off.
The update for global finally arrived. 11.0.3

You can see what version you're running when you hit the ''My device'' section in settings and take a look at the exact MIUI version.
For example mine (global) says ''11.0.1.0(QFKMIXM)'' whereas the EEA/EU rom says ''11.0.3.0(QFKEUXM)'' so you can basically tell the ROM version apart by the ''MI'' or ''EU''
Anybody already received the November security update for the Global EU?
On Global, not global EU
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
On Global the November sec.update came with the update to Miui 11 and Android 10, unfortunately not for the EUXM Global.
Now it is waiting for that or the December security update although the January update is almost finished by Google now.

Who's suffering?
No! Better service for me and for all.
Today started new update 11.0.4.0 with bugfixes and december security update
Received the message on my device yesterday and went to the update checker.
It showed with a red dot that there was an update but after I checked manually it couldn't detect it anymore.
Strange.
Will try later today.
It's the same for the global version so this update might got pulled back.

Flash Taiwan Rom. The rom itself runs smoother than regular global rom all while giving you the call recording option.
You can found all of it's firmwares here

I have global but I've changed to China stable. It's very smooth and you get updates faster (got 12.5.3 OTA today). It even has basic google services and play store preinstalled. The ROM just needs to be cleaned up a bit now I hardly notice any difference except I have more features.
And yes you can use Taiwan I've tried that one too. Would not recommend locking bootloader on it even though it might be possible since it's stock firmware. I would only try that with the software the phone came with so the software matches the model number.

Yes, I've been using it for a while now and yes changing to Taiwan Rom is easy and yes, it does have Google Play Services and No, I did not lock bootloader.

Question Global relase, TWRP and root

Hello, I'm planning to buy one of the newest Xiaomi tablets and everything for me depends on availability of global ROM, because of polish language in this version of firmware. Will 5g Pro version be available globally, is there any info about that? There are 3 versions (with different hardware names so every version have it own uncompatible firmware and can be or not sold globally) standard, Pro and Pro 5g. Of course i would like to buy 5G Pro version, but for now i found only review of standard version with global firmware. (Tablet is sold with Global Russia version in Belarus from 5 sept) And i have few questions for you, maybe you know answers for them, will 5G version will be available with global MIUI? Maybe only Pro without 5g version or only standard version will be/are sold globally? Can I download Global Russia version for Pad 5/Pad 5 Pro? (If its sold with it it should be available for download) If no, when it should be available, when first update appears? And last somebody have successfully rooted this device? Greetings
I don't know if mipad5 5g will sell in your region or not, but it can be root using magisk. Also twrp rec available( unofficial, made by a Chinese developer)

Question Mi 11 Lite 5G (Japan Global >> Global)

Hi,
I bought a Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G off ebay which was advertised as the Global model but it appears i have the Japanese Global model instead (M2101K9R) whereas the actual Global model is M2101K9G. Would anyone know if it is possible for me to convert this over to the proper RKIMIXM Global ROM (M2101K9G) and keep my bootloader locked in the process by just flashing the fastboot ROM for Global? In other words i would like to fully convert it across to the global M2101K9G model.
i have read that flashing a Global ROM on a device for a different region can brick the phone if the bootloader is then relocked after flashing the Global ROM but wasn't sure if this was more in reference to going from the Chinese version of phone to Global rather then my situation which is going from Global Japan ROM to Global ROM.
I understand I can do this if I kept the bootloader unlocked after the flash but was hoping the bootloader would accept the Global ROM and would still work after relocking the bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
Seeing that i have my Mi account binded to my phone, i will wait another 90 hrs to be able to unlock bootloader and will attempt to answer my own question. Atleast when i relock bootloader after flashing the global ROM and worse case scenario it fails i can unlock the bootloader again and reflash the original Japanese Global MIUI for the device
dont risk your device and instead use "xiaomi eu", that way you can upgrade your device without the risk of locking the bootloader in the process

Hey, since you have the Japanese model, is the camera shutter sound always on? Even if you pick a different region for MIUI? I'm considering the Japanese model and am also curious if it would be possible to convert to Global, though like you said there's a risk of bricking so don't do it if that's a real concern. If you do try it though, let us know how it goes.
Good news, after unlocking my bootloader after 7 day waiting period i was able to successfully flash MIUI Global RKIMIXM ROM. Also relocked bootloader with Xiaomi Flash tool and the bootloader had no issues accepting global ROM.
it should be noted there's been alot of misinformation regarding unlocking/locking bootloaders and changing regions. As long as the first unlocking of bootloader was performed by your own MI account binded to the phone then after 7 day waiting period is over you can unlock/relock bootloader as often as you want immediately with no additional waiting period required. So if you have the issue where you're stuck in recovery after flashing another region ROM and accidentally relocked your bootloader in the process, it's no big deal as you just load phone into fastboot mode and unlock the bootloader again then either keep bootloader unlocked and flash whatever you want or download the proper ROM for your region then flash and relock bootloader again to be back to official stock.
Only thing is model appears to still be detected as M2101K9R in settings. Unsure if this will affect future OTA updates etc. Will provide update when i know more.

It can be muted by setting.(Any ROM/Version/Model)
Setting → Additional Settings → 'Region'
Japan or Korea = Always On
Other = Can be changed from camera settings

I ended up flashing back to Japanese ROM as realistically i had no issues with it. Was more curious to see if i could fully convert it over to Global ROM but it seems the model number as shown in Settings is hard coded perhaps in the bootloader or somewhere else and still displayed M2101K9R so i wasn't comfortable using the M2101K9G global ROM.
As for the camera shutter sound on Japanese ROM i just checked and there was a setting in the camera app itself (Camera>Settings>Shutter Sound) and you can toggle it off to silence the shutter sound.
Please, did you notice any difference between the Global ROM and the Japanese ROM? I mean in terms of settings, speed, battery etc.
Please, did you notice any difference between the Global ROM and the Japanese ROM? I mean in terms of settings, speed, battery etc.
I am a Japanese user using Mi 11 Lite 5G. The difference in hardware is that it is equipped with Felica, a near-range wireless communication standard developed by Sony. This is used in Japan for payments on public transportation and in stores. The difference in the software is that it takes a long time for software updates to be delivered. As the ROM is optimized for Japan, it takes longer to receive updates than the global version.
I also have japanese version but I am from México and I am using xiaomi.eu beacuse of the publicity from xiaomi stock roms, and it works flawless and felica is not used in my country so, I am fine, but... One friend of mine has the chinese global version and the cameras look sooo diferent, better in Jaoan version, even video 60fps has more stabilization. Just to say.

Currently 2 versions: CN and IN.
There are stock roms for the CN version but no Indian roms (maybe too soon).
Exactly the same phone except the bands depending on the region.
It seems to me that Xiaomi does not plan to sell it in markets other than China and India.
In this case, there will never be a global version.
It is on sale in Indian version on Amazon.in, not sure that he can send it elsewhere than in India.
Maybe Xioami Eu rom will provide roms for this phone.
The pro version will exist in a global version but unfortunately with a Mediatek soc.

Maybe wait for a Global version.
