10X Zoom Root. Can it be done? Global version - OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Questions & Answers

Struggling a bit here, I cannot for the life of me get the device rooted via Fastboot. The command simply reboots the device, I have enabled the OEM unlock feature so should be all good to go from that perspective. The key combinations only get it into recovery.
Any suggestions?

I spoke with Oppo UK some months ago and the bootloaders are apparently locked on the CPH1919.
So... unfortunately no is the short answer
There are softwares to supposedly do this, but I've not heard of fastboot being a method for this device.
The one I've heard of is Qfil (Qualcomm Flash Image loader Tool) which is available with a simple Google search. Latest version is 2.0.2.3...
...is the longer and more complicated route.
Good luck. Let us know how you get on bro.

That's too bad. I'm not too much of a techie so I won't risk it with QFIL. An Ad infested device is better than a bricked one. Playing with my old device, a rooted ad-free experience is simply a joy to behold....

Bojo land unfortunately much like yourself. I mean, it's not so much like I'm being bombarded by push notification heaven forbid. It's just most website have crappy ads that Android Chrome allows (this one included) which were previously beautiful hollow, white empty spaces. Most of it gets past Blockada but at least it's not tracked crap from my browsing history (the very pits)

Okay.
Strange
I use YouTube Vanced - no adverts, Microsoft Edge with AdBlock plus and Chrome with Ad blockers enabled. I mainly used Edge as it's now Chromium based and fast af and can link nicely with all my Microsoft shizzle in one big, happy corporate mindFK
Never have an issue with ads though bud. Check through your settings on your browser's, etc

Flashing HTC One ME (m9et)

So I got this Chinese version One ME. Since the firmware is some China Mobile modded system, its pretty useless as it is (no Google services etc...). From what I read the India firmware (0PLAIMG_HIMA_ACE_ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_India_1.11.720.6_Radio_1.1506V24P21.2008.0505_HDT[W.T]_release_437175_signed) should work on it. But I am stuck at the upgrade...
The phone is brand new, not used, not setup beyond putting going through the process to start it. I put the firmware on an SD card. I renamed the file to '0PLAIMG.zip' and put it in the root directory of the SD card. I then rebooted in Download mode and get to choose Vol up to initiate the flashing process. I then hit Power key to confirm.
However instead of going through the process, the screen goes blank - It switches off. I can reboot it to the normal system, but I cannot flash it.
I am wondering...
1. is this firmware not going to work?
2. Do I need to do a S-Off (and how do I do this? dont have a Windows machine)
3. Does it need a SIM card inside for it to update the firmware
4. Am I missing something else?
any help much appreciated!

thanks, but as I mentioned I dont have access to a Windows PC. Whats this 'Recoveru' ? Is this a spelling error - meant to say Recovery? If so, where do I find a Recovery that works with this phone?
Thanks for correcting the spelling Error. My God I could Have Got arrested And Been jailed for About Eternity For That or Worse Hanged Till death.
Thank you for enlightening Me with the Gracious Knowledge of English.
You saved My Life And For That. Now To The Post.
Let's First Consider the chinese phones they have a completely different user interface and very often also a different hardware that better fits the Chinese mobile networks and might not work as well outside of China.
Google is also blocked in China, therefore you won't be able to access most google services on a Chinese phone and there is no google app store in the Chinese phone. For that reasons,Chinese phones are NOT SOLD outside of China.
People based outside of China should buy the ROW version of the phone.
Unfortunately, some people buy the Chinese phones, root them, modify them, add bloatware, and sell them online to customers outside of China.
Unsurprisingly, phones that are modified in such a way do not run the original version of the software intended by Lenovo. Cannot be updated to new software release, or if you update them you will end up with Chinese firmware.
Now for your Phone Custom Recoveries and ROMs are available But They Will also End Up Like The ROM.
But If the countries Have Matched Hardware Or The Phones are Specifically Designed For Your Area You might Succeed In Doing So.
But With Some Major Changes To the Hardware could Result In Some Bad Manner.
Now You can Backup your firmware on a PC and try To Unlock Your Phone Then Flash The Firmware.

No problem, glad to be of help! (actually was thinking there might be some software/app or process called Recoveru...) Not been flashing stuff for a while, and last time did Xiao Mi's, so the process is probably not the same...

I am well aware of that, as I have been living here in lovely China for rather too long... but thats another story. Perhaps consider for a second that I may have got this phone for a present, use it not only in China, but also outside, and believe I can make it work like any international HTC... So, now back onto the actual problem:

Right, so you mean it could work, but again, it may not. Perhaps worth trying a variety of ROM's if what I am doing is correct (the flashing procedure I mean). I guess I wanted to make sure I am not missing something in the flashing procedure, as I have never flashed a HTC before.
thanks anyhow! I do appreciate it

Having Exotic Hardware Do Mean Exotic Experience(Sometimes not In a good way)
Having a Chinese Device Doesn't mean You can't flash a Different Regional Firmware On it.Maybe The Firmware files Got Mixed During Downloading(Correct Term Corrupted).Sometimes It do Work.I had a Note 3 a Few Years Ago.I bought it during a Trip to KSA It had a Different Firmware KSA version to be Specific,I just Downloaded My region's Firmware and Flashed It via Odin.No Unlocking bootloader no S-off no storage Protection that is why I do prefer Samsung Or Nexus Over other Companies Due to Their Open Source Software and Having a Unlocked Bootloader and hardware Being Literally Identical In Different Regions.

Which one? My local T-Mo is offering this or a Moto E 2020. This one's winning. It'll be nice if it can be rooted. Just asking cause T-Mo hasn't been root/bootloader unlock friendly with most of its phones. I saw the E guide.

Depends on the features your want, but I really don't have any complaints for this device. I have a friend that prefers devices with touch sensor swiping and dt2w, so he doesn't care much for these Motorola phones.
I prefer phones with good developer support and stock Android. Makes Moto phones an excellent fit for me. If you intend to run custom roms LG might be a poor choice as you generally loose features like VoLTE and VoWiFi.

Think is I don't actually need a phone, I have a V20 and 40. But I do need internet for next month, for which I'll just get a simply prepaid for that month. (My T-Mo plan is a grandfathered from 10+ years ago that's only $20, doesn't include high speed internet) And I saw a promo that if you buy in advance 3 months you can get the G Play or a E 2020. And figured, need only 1 but 3 months of unlimited internet is also good, specially if I get an okay phone. But if I can't root it. It could be a $1k flagship and I wouldn't care. And Moto's near stock looks very apealing. V40 has Lineage but as you said would lose VoLTE.
Moto looks like phones that would allow me to tinker, I miss my old HTCs. There was so much ROM variety and customization. Now it's either OEM optimized, or all the CFW look the same, aesthetically speaking, they look so bland. Man now that our phones are more powerfull I'd like to see a Sense 3-4. Loved that layout, as heavy as it was.
Sorry went on rant there. Anyway, I'd just like if the phone can be thinker with. And can handle some light gaming like FFBE and the text be readable.

Sweet! Thanks for the info, got mine the 8. Gonna wait the week and then start thinkiering with it.
And all bands and VoLTE work well? For my V40 I am limited what to flash if I don't wanna lose B71.
Still gotta deal with Carrier Device Manager, MCM Client and Mobile Installer? I disabled as much as I could without root, remove all permisions from those and "Digital Wllbeing" and McAfee and they're still pestering me. Specially MCM on the ntifications. Can't wait to root and get rid of everything.
But if crosflashing to RETUS can get rid of some of those I'll do that first.
(Well After I SIM unlock the phone, don't wanna have to deal with returning to stock for that)

It's generally fine to (entirely) cross flash Moto phones. Only difference between carrier and RETUS is the product partition afaik, so I don't bother personally. I just use a Magisk module to clear out the nondisable folder and I can then disable whatever I don't want.

Oh the play does have swipe sensore for notifications. And although it doesn't have dt2w I just tap it to the side, any slide movement wake the screen and you can the swipe to unlock. It does wake up for the littlest for movements so it can get a bit annoying.

Life after ROOT

So. I did a bunch of complaining about the T-Mobile network lock and the whole waiting game.. Then I found out that I had to wait an additional undetermined amount of days tp get the OEM key from OnePlus.. Grrrrrr... Arrrggg!! Well if any of you have a Nord 10 5G from the USA and it happens to be a carrier phone its gonna take at least 45 days from Carrier to OEM before you can root the thing. Just this morning, and after a long wait with much study on this process, I finally had my climactic victory with my first rooted device with a custom ROM. I am seriously a novice when it comes to these phones. Thank Geebus I have some sort of tech understanding and a ton of patience because I now have a beautifully modded Nord N10 5G that runs like a Pixel 5 with all the bells and whistles. A great deal of thanks goes to you folks for providing me the tools and know how to get thru this. The new PixelExperience_Plus ROM worked like a charm. And my ignorant American ass got it right on the fist try! I can't wait to see what kinds of new things you all will let me chew on in the near future. Cheers!!

I'm currently on my 6th rooted phone and I can assure you that typically it's never a relaxed process: You're always anxious because you don't want to turn your phone into a useless brick (unbootable and no possible fix).
However, just like you, all the knowledge we gain when rooting the phones it's totally worthy.
Now, since this is your first root, I want to share some useful root-required apps with you (most of them are not available on Google's play store, you can find them on F-Droid for example):
AdAway: System-wide free and open-source ad blocker. It has predefined ads lists. Some games where you get rewards for viewing ads either show an error when viewing the ad or give will simply reward you instantly without showing the ad.
AFWall+: System-wide firewall that blocks internet access for certain apps: Useful to avoid fishy apps to send your personal info to their servers. For example ATM I'm blocking Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard, Google Messages and Google Phone.
Bouncer (paid): Gives temporary permissions to the apps and remembers your option: If you want to send an image through facebook go ahead, allow the external storage access, then later a notification shows up asking you to remove the pending temporary permissions.
OverrideDNS (paid): Probably the best DNS overrider you can find, it listens for new connections and automatically changes the DNS to your desired one.
Greenify: It's a huge helper on battery saving, allows you to select apps that you don't want to allow to run on background: Greenify kills these apps. Useful if you're like me and you have lots of apps that you use ONLY when needed, for instance, I don't want any of my games to run on background and I don't want to be bothered by game notifications.
Boot animations for superuser: Allows you to flash custom boot animations. Be careful with this app, I didn't try it yet on OP N10 (since I actually like Oxygen's boot animation).
Tasker (paid): Now this is where the fun begins... You can automate pretty much anything! Let me give you some examples that I have on my tasker:
Managing some custom profiles (technically speaking, custom tasks). I have 2 pre-defined profiles: Home and Outside (they change screen brightness, volumes, vibration, display timeout, wi-fi state, mobile data state, and so on, and these values depend if I'm connected to my smartwatch or not).
If my phone connects to my car's BT system, I forced tasker into changing to my Outside profile. If my phone is at my house's coordinates, it changes to home profile.
Whenever I connect my headset, it automatically opens Spotify.
When I received a text message, my torch flashes 3 times.
If my battery reaches 10%, it automatically sends my GF a message saying my battery is running low.
Whenever I open Google Maps, my GPS turns on.
Do you have links to these wonderful apps?

Yes.
AdAway (or get it from F-Droid)
AFWall+ (you can also find it on Google Play or F-Droid)
Bouncer: You can either visit the author's website or get it on Google Play
OverrideDNS (you can find it on Google Play)
Greenify (you can find it on Google Play)
Boot animations for Super User (you can find it on Google Play)
Tasker (you can find it on Google Play)
You can also see some examples of tasker capabilities on the author's YouTube channel.
Oh man, wait until you get apps like V4A running.
It's a whole new ballpark, just gotta be careful not to hit too many foul balls.
So make sure to keep a backup whenever you start messing around.
CF Lumen (Play Store)
Titanium Backup (Play Store)
Solid Explorer (Play Store)
I thought the advantage to buying OnePlus phones is that they do not lock the bootloader, so no rooting is required (I read that somewhere online). Is that not correct?
I have been thinking about the N10 or 8T, but the lack of carrier support is making me hesitant. Also, the N10 has very good specs for the price, but with only one Android update and only 2 years of security updates, it would (I assume) need to have a custom rom installed after that to maintain security. Is that correct?

Not correct, the bootloader is still locked but:
If you unlock it, the device will still pass Google's SafetyNet check (which is used to check if your device is reliable to use more sensitive APPs/features: Netflix, Brave's rewards feature, some payment APPs). When I rooted my Xiaomi MI A3, unlocking the bootloader made the device being marked as untrustworthy, and therefore failing the SafetyNet.
OnePlus allows users to root their phone without voiding the warranty.

What do you mean carrier support? The first time I bought an OP device, they weren't even officially selling in my country.
Are you telling me that your country still sim-locks the devices? Why don't you buy it directly from oneplus.com? I think those are unlocked.
If you're referring to the frequency support, you can Google to check the frequency coverage in your area and compare with the device's supported frequencies.
OP's typically have a good ROM support, try Pixel Experience...

I apologize for my confusing message. I am in the USA. By "carriers" I meant companies like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. I am currently on Republic Wireless with a Moto G5s Plus (stuck on Android 8 and no more security patches either). RW doesn't allow the N10 5G yet on their network. I have only found a few MVNOs that do (e.g. Mint Mobile). Just about all support phones from Moto and Samsung. So I feel I may be going out on a limb getting a OnePlus phone.
AT&T actually (temporarily) suspended my account for turning the N105G on, with my AT&T SIM in it. Learned the hard way no one answers the phone anymore outside business hours, glad I didn't need to make any calls or do it on Friday at 5:01p. They got fired for that.
TMobile took it happily, no issues with activation, nice 5G signal (we don't have MMw in my city, but uses one of the other bands). Speed varies by location/tower, but have clocked downloads over 380Mbs. Note that Tmobile uses IPV6 and IPV4, so for certain things like VPNs you either have to futz with the APN settings to do IPV4 only, or make sure you have IPV6 functionality on destination sites (when you do, works pretty damn slick, I must say).
The thought of using Verizon makes me want to throw up, so no comments on that one.
Hope that helps.

The thought of using Verizon makes me want to throw up, so no comments on that one.
Hope that helps.

There's a reason why AT&T is losing customers

I apologize for my confusing message. I am in the USA. By "carriers" I meant companies like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. I am currently on Republic Wireless with a Moto G5s Plus (stuck on Android 8 and no more security patches either). RW doesn't allow the N10 5G yet on their network. I have only found a few MVNOs that do (e.g. Mint Mobile). Just about all support phones from Moto and Samsung. So I feel I may be going out on a limb getting a OnePlus phone.

If you have the ability to mod your phone, I mean install a custom ROM I suggest Pixel experience and Deepest. I've run them both and you have a lot more control over your radio options and network capability. Good luck!

Cheers!!

No problem, if you have a T-Mobile carrier you will have to jump thru a few hoops to get your network (SIM) unlock , then you have to run a command via ADB to get the unlock code, :But WAIT ! There' s MORE" When that has al come to pass you have to get the unlock token from OnePlus and while in Fastboot Mode , you have to flash the cust-unlock.bin file to unlock the bootloader. Afterwards you can load whatever you want in there. Unfortunately, the Nord N10 5G doesn't get a lot of support or updates which sucks because it's not a bad device on the right platform. I'm looking to try the A/B GSI Flash method since the device is Treble worthy. Good luck! Hope you fare better than I did my first go-around.
thanks for the response. So i got an unlocked phone into which i put my existing SIM card. went into the developer settings and enabled "allow bootloader to be unlocked." you are saying that to now actually unlock the bootloader i need a code from oneplus?
Yep. A big pain in the ass.

Success! 5G Working on DEMO LG Wing.

So I was able to successfully get the DEMO LG Wing I bought off of ebay. (Model LMF101V) Flashed. And despite being told these didn't even have a modem in them, I am able to get 5G with a Tmobile SIM now. *I believe these were originally Verizon demo's, but I am not sure. I am missing storage, which I have seen was a problem with other LG demo models. However it appears the SD card is working, so this is not a huge deal to me. (It registers 8GB instead of 256GB) I know the storage is actually there, because prior to flashing, I was able to access and use it in the demo mode.
I was wondering if anyone could help me get the biometrics working? The hardware is present and the phone does detect a fingerprint reader, but when trying to use it, it never registers any finger prints. *It does not accept or reject, the screen changes to indicate my finger is touching the glass, but nothing happens as far as registering my fingerprint goes, it just does nothing. I do not yet know if the 50% charging limitiation is still in place or not, I will update when I find out. I am assuming this is no longer an issue.
Not bad for $180 now that it has service. I accomplished this by making my own modifications to LGUP, I will be honest, I am a newbie when it comes to this stuff. So I was poking around and changed a few things here, a few things there, and I could not tell you specifically what I did that made this work. The phone still does not show me an IMEI number. (Just a 0 in place of it.) I dont want to break the rules regarding changing IMEI's, but since this would be more like restoring the IMEI, maybe the mods will allow us to discuss potential fixes to that issue.
Interesting this demo unit. What is the firmware showing in the system menu? Could you update to any newer firmware? Or could you unlock the bootloader / flash another official fimware?

Modified LGUP - Chip Erase was the only option that would do anything at all. So I first flashed a Verizon ROM and then a Tmobile ROM. Both lifted all all the limitations placed on the device. The only thing that did not work was the fingerprint sensor, but its there... so there has got to be a way. That and it wont show an IMEI number at all after that. Yet at least with Tmobile, that doesnt appear to matter.
Please direct me to the steps or page that will explain how to do what you did to remove this demo crap. Thanks in advance.

There isn't one. I figured this out on my own.
Have you played with a Velvet 5g? I just got a retail mode one.
I got ahold of 2 V60 demo units. I believe they are the Verizon ones? Anyhow i removed demo limitations to allow use of the device again, battery is at 50% llke most, and its supposedly missing the modem as i cannot get any information in Phone Information for the cellular bands etc.. It would be nice however to get them working IF they are present.
I don't see how your velvet has the modems unless perhaps it was specific verizon ones which these devices were rumored to have the ability of a full device (modem and everything else) once flashed to different firmware.
If you could walk back through what you do (i know im guilty myself of forgetting to write things down) and try to remember exactly what all you did this would help a lot on these demo units. I see a people wanting to convert them more these days since the phones are getting more hi tech. 5-7 years ago and so you could covert these,, Before that demo phones.. well they were all real. Was never an issue getting them cheap and no need for converting.. Wish it was like that today!
Any updates on this? Local used phone stores want $450 starting, I see a handful on eBay for anywhere from $120+, non-demo ones average around $350+. I'd like to get one that's unlocked (currently on Sprint/TMobile) but likely gonna be switching to AT&T. I see a lot of phones that say unlocked but I don't know if they're truly unlocked and/or how to do it myself if they're in fact not unlocked. 10+yrs ago I used to bake my own ROM's and whatnot but nowadays it feels like Spanish to me so I don't wanna buy the wrong phone and have it not work (demo issues) or not be able to easily switch providers.

Is there any chance you could share what you did to get this working? I've been trying to flash stock firmware to my Wing but haven't had any success. All of my attempts have either caused LGUP to crash, fail, or "successfully" flash but never actually do anything to the phone.

Alright, I'll give that a shot. Any specific firmware I should go for? I have the Korean and Verizon, not sure which is better. This is a Verizon demo unit, btw.
Edit: If you could link me to the terminal version, that would be appreciated.

I personally cant wait until firehose comes out for the lg velvet. I have a few of those. They work great on att 5g. Almost feels exactly like my s20 ultra in my hand. Too bad lg stopped making phones.
Terminal version worked perfectly! The korean firmware works and seems to be fully functional, although I will have to do more testing. I may try flashing US carrier firmware at some point if it's compatible (probably T-Mobile as I use that), but for now this is fine.
Been using the phone for a few days now. It's largely been fine, however the fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to work as the OP mentioned. Still, if anyone has a demo device, it's much better then using the gimped firmware it comes with.

Tried without downgrading the firmware (if that's even possible- I don't think the Wing came with Android 9). ( #*462633*#100# ) got me into the service menu, did the fingerprint test and now it recognizes me putting my finger against the sensor, but tells me "Cover the entire sensor with your finger" every time.
Edit: To be clear, I'm using the latest Korean firmware. I'm not sure if downgrading it would work, since as far as I know it's all Android 10.

So do you know if this actually flashes in perfectly back to stock or does this just bring them back to like a standard Android variant?

the tool is basically an msm tool but only this was first the msm tool is just way more efficient so if you are not sure i recommend waiting for the msm tool once the msm tool is released there will be no need for this emmc tool but its what oneplus has cheaply given us for now.

well I'll let you be the judge of that this is the more complexed version of an msm tool while an msm tool does the flashing automatically in the qpst software you are going to have to search for certain files and its not easy.
I tried restoring my phone using this tool, using QPST unfortunately, a green progress bar stays green, and never continues I think it should say "connected", attempting to flash partitions on one of the tabs, results in "cannot communicate with programmer"
The standard QFIL Tool, finds the VIP partition on the phone, and then reads the information and spits out, not authenticated, and fails to continue..
A part of me wishes I could destroy the VIP partition, or at least delete it, that way QFILL would flash, and everything should work.. but then again, the VIP partition is a part of the EDL chip is it not.. it's a double edged sword..
People would have more of a chance these days taking a defib to their phones motherboard, maybe if they are "Extremely" lucky, they short out a data line that communicates with the VIP protocol, allowing the flash to happen, or their OnePlus 10T turns into a Pixel 7 Pro..

im starting to think maybe we will not see the light of day of the msm tool being restored for the 10t there isn't anything besides the qpst and qfil garbage it is honestly making me to start really disliking oneplus but maybe there is away to get around all of this i hope we can all work as a community and figure something out.

OnePlus lost my respect the second I purchased the 10T to find it still stuck on the August security patch near the end of October.. Yet they keep touting their 10T as next generation.. They hide the fine print details about USB 2.0 only, but nobody needs usb 3.0 on their "type c port".. but They really went to town using Gorilla Glass 5.. I understand Gorilla Glass Victus being too expensive, but they could have at least used Gorilla glass 6, my 10T has scratches all over its face.. and it did come with a screen protector.. But I did not get a case inside the phone box, so I had to get a phone case off Amazon, and the case would not work with the protector, so I had a choice to make, risk smashing the phone if I drop it.. or risk scratching the phone.. Now I did not watch an unboxing video, because I did not want to spoil opening the box, what I was not expecting was no case.. Actually I think there was a case, a case of why OnePlus..
Also.. Never activate Zen mode.. I turned that on for 20 minutes without reading, and either that is OnePlus's way of saying this is software bricking to a whole new level.. Or they really like their users..

If anyone wants a list of the USSD codes they will have to private message me because it is extremely long and I will have to warn that you need to be careful which ones you use because some will call the emergency services of your area for you, some of the codes don't seem to work properly and I don't know if it's matter of software or if it's a matter of the phone dialer cuz I found out previously that your USSD code access depends on the dialing app not on the phone model.

How do the USSD codes give you access to the sales tool if the tool runs on windows? and requires an Oppo login. The kicker is most people browsing these threads cannot use their dialer as their phone will be bricked, which means if this is true, it would only be useful for people who can run the USSD codes on their phone knowing they will probably end up bricking their device..

Do not waste your time trying to re flash / unbrick 10T you will kill your phone without a proper working EDL / MSMtool
The only thing you can do is flash a working phone from android 13 to 12 via local update. zip file which is nothing to do with EDL /MSMtool
