Oreo kdz - lag free version needed - Verizon LG G6 Questions & Answers

Which Oreo Version is the smoothest and best for battery... The last one made my device unusable, don't want to revert to nougat. Thanks

Try to install Android 8.0 for US997... It's clear firmware without Verizon apps, work perfect..
I can send working LGUP 1.14, just write to PM.

Complete noob, getting a Le Max 2

Hey all,
I've just ordered a Le Max 2 from some mob in China. When it arrives in 2021 I hope to install a clean Oreo rom.
The problem is I'm new to all this jazz. I can follow a walkthrough successfully, and without killing the cat etc, but I don't know which walkthrough/guide to follow!
Is there a stock Oreo rom for the Le Max 2? Is 'stock' the right word here? I mean from Android/Google.
If not, is the Lineage rom ok?
I just want a clean phone, no crap installed, higher version of Android the better.
Also, I noticed a firmware page. Do I have to update my firmware first? Or after Rom installs?
thanks all

Hey. Welcome to the group.
There's no stock ROM for Oreo. We only have EUI 5.8/5.9 (Marshmallow). Lineage is okay, but as of now Oreo custom ROMs have bugs. One is low mic volume in calls, another is that you can't use Slow Motion Mode in modded GCam. In a new Oreo Custom ROM (Dirty Unicorn) it has GPS and Fingerprint bug, not sure about low mic volume but the Slow Motion Mode bug is still there (because of OSS HALs)
I suggest you flash Nougat if you want minimal bugs.
I think Marshmallow custom ROMs have no bugs at all (someone confirm) but the security patch is old.
You don't have to be on latest stock ROM, just flash the latest TWRP and start flashing ROMs.
Good luck!

Use google my friend flashing roms and learning about adb and fastboot is quite fun (well for me it is ). It's quite straight forward, you just need to have the proper software and drivers.
Lineage rom is good, it's updated quite frequently and most of the time has minimal bugs. go with nougat as my colleague suggested. Also i think it's ok to stay with just stock firmware Eui is quite nice i guys.
Just remember to backup everything and save it in a safe place before trying something for the first time If you are afraid of doing something and want a quick answer you can PM me, i will try to answer asap

What I can say from my personal experience. First, stock EUi is a crap. Also, abandoned, since LeEco company does not exist anymore. Second, 7.1 or 8.1? I would recommend Lineage 15.1 (Oreo 8.1). It's most stable for me. I found any other rom based on Lineage more buggy than stock Lineage 14.1 is stable too, but why to choose older Android?
Install procedure is pretty easy. You need to unlock bootloader, flash twrp, then flash rom + gapps, that's all.
BTW as you can see, there may be many opinions. But it's not risky to test various custom roms and choose the one that is the best for you. Don't hestitate to try many roms, it's not a pain at all. Actually, it's a fun.

Can i downgrade from Oreo to Nougat 100% accurately without any error!!!

hello there to all experts,
I read a lot and did not find 100% satisfactorily answer anywhere about downgrading android from Oreo to nougat via flashing Nougat firmware with help of SP Flash Tool.
Actually i have lenovo k8 Plus 3 GB variant. Unfortunately i upgraded it to Oreo vi OTA update but after that facing a lot problems. I have done flash while once i stuck in boot loop in nougat so i have all working firmware and drivers and sp flash tool too.
but when i looked in videos on you-tube and comment of users 99/100 told that their phone did not boot after flashing firmware and to make phone working again they had to flash Oreo again. some experts told that oreo support project treble so partition scheme has lil bit changed. some user says its boot loader is different and tht's y device did not turn on after downgrade. some says firmware should be of binary 2 boot-loader.
In short m not getting perfect technical answer . is there any technical reason behind downgrading Oreo to nougat or i can do it.
plz make it clear.:silly:
First reason couldn't be correct. because, project treble hasn't enabled even after Oreo update.

Stay on Oreo or upgrade to Pie

The question is in the title.
Finally Pie arrived to my TWN 930DS. I'm Ok with my stock 20e firmware. Some draining started in the last month or so, but the firmware works fine. Memory management is crap, but doesn't expect more from LG.
So, I have two ways to go. Upgrade to 20f, that is a 2019 04 25 firmware to my TWN V30, or upgrade to Pie, to a 30c firmware.
I'd like to stay stock rooted because of the camera, but wanna get rid of the draining, that usually starts with Android after staying on a firmware longer than half a year.
So, does Pie worth it? Is that a battery drainer? Or stay on Oreo, that works more or less, but fine in general?
How is the memory management with Pie? I have like 800-900MB of free RAM after getting rid of most of the LG crap in Oreo (the stock Oreo firmware on my Mi5 has usually 1.8-2.4G free ram. My P10 Plus has 3.2-3.6G (from 6GB) free RAM running stock PIE... both of them are unrooted, fully stock).
So, what are the experiences?

You're probably better off updating to most recent Oreo.

To continue this thread a bit, have you upgraded? I know you like this device as much as me, and my only real issue right now is my Verizon 4G has gotten terrible this year. I assume Magisk root, TB, Adaway, etc work still on Pie? Debating upgrading to the TWRP flashable 30b (if that's the latest non-Verizon version?)

I easily upgraded my spare V30+ to stock US998 Pie (not even signed in with my Gmail account), but on my main V30+ I am still on latest Oreo -- on purpose. I don't see any improvements in stock Pie I need at this point in time. It's the same camera, the same look to the GUI. Besides that, I'm already running rooted stock firmware, Nova launcher + wallpaper + icon pack + I have Magisk and Xposed mods set up for what I want.
Pie isn't any faster nor have better battery life than last Oreo. Once US998 Pie improves I may switch to Pie, but right now I see no need for my daily phone.
Plus a lot of people are having problems updating to the US998 30b stock Pie, even with the TWRP flashable zip. Many people hang on the LG/ThinQ logo and it never boots. There's something wonky about it. There's method listed at the top of post #2 in the Pie KDZ thread and then 3 different workarounds listed in post #6 of the the KDZ thread (two of which involve using TWRP and Partition DL).

Awesome response, I definitely thought you were going to recommend Pie. I agree, I'll stick on Oreo for now. Still no clue why VZ 4G is bad now...

Rolling back my LG V30 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I have an app that does not work after Android 8 that I need and there is no replacement in 9 or above. I managed to avoid updating my v30 to v9 and later for a year or so. It accidentally allowed the update to 9 this past weekend while I was camping. All I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
I have enough tech knowledge to follow directions and understand rooting but am having a really hard time finding the "right directions." As I was reading some of them, I found caveats like, "Use X unless you have the delta update and then use Y but not if you want to run Z. For Z, you have to follow this other thread." I also know that using the wrong settings or data file could brick the phone.
So, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what sets of directions I need to follow.
Here's what I have right now:
LG V30 (VS996) On Verizon Network
Developer Options Enabled
Android V9
Security Patch Level August 1, 2019
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Build #: PKQ1.190414.001
Software version: VS99630c
Again, all I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
Bonus would also be a way to stop asking me every day to update or delay a day and just wait until I manually do it.
Thx in advance!!

Follow the instructions on both the pages. I think you can take it from here.
Note that implied with this process is that you cannot downgrade your firmware without wiping the phone... there's no way to "patch" back to the old version. So, be sure to take backups FIRST.
If you're rooted on the old firmware, you can then disable/freeze/delete the update APKs so that the update warning goes away. But this requires root, so be aware of that. If you don't haven't rooted already, then this is a process of its own, and will require you to go back to Nougat in order to perform that, so you may want to do that before installing the final version of the ROM you want. You can find out how to do this rooting process on the WTF thread, post #193, located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
If you don't want to root, that's fine, but then you must endure the update warning process... unless you can find another way to disable the update APKs.
Thank you both. I expected to wipe the phone so that's not an issue. I will first install Nougat, root and then update to Oreo.
There are about 14 Oreo ROMs on that site. Do I just pick the latest one or do I have to pick the earliest one and update that?
Pick the latest one.
