Is it possible to see when an android phone downloaded an certain patch? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I dont really know how to start a thread so i get right into my question.
Is there any way i can find out when my phone downloaded android 9? I know that you can go to settings and look when your phone downloaded the last patch but i would like to know when my phone downloaded android 9.0.
Thanks for all answers and i apologize for my bad english its not my native language.

@Habicht99
in system file named build.prop you can find date when the current ROM was compiled
ro.build.date=Sun Feb 22 04:00:49 UTC 2015

Since im not very into things like that i would like to know if i really understood you right. At the moment im on android 9.1.0 if i would look in build.prop would it show me the date when 9.1.0 was compiled or the date when 9.0.0 was compiled?

@Habicht99
I clearly said "current ROM":
Android ROM refers to a phone’s firmware - it actually may be the (original) Stock ROM or a Custom ROM. If phone's Stock ROM got upgraded and/or updated and/or replaced, then the question "Who compiled and when was compiled the phone's Stock ROM" you have to ask phone's manufacturer and/or carrier, IMO.
Also: Moving from Android 9.0.0 to Android 9.1.0 - as version numbers show - is an update , not a patch.
AFAIK an Android 9.1.0 never got released by Google, but an EMUI 9.1 ( Huawei ) exists.

Miui 8 China Developer Rom Based On Android Nougat 7.0 Available?

Hi there,
just wondering whether we finally got Android 7 for our device? According to these threads it should be the case:
https://xiaomininja.com/2017/02/11/...i-8-china-developer-rom-7-2-9-is-rolling-out/
https://www.getdroidtips.com/manually-update-redmi-note-2-miui-8-v7-2-9-android-nougat-2/
But I am currently using MIUI 8 Global 7.5.4 Beta which is still Android 5.0.2 - maybe this is due to not being developer ROM.
What I do not understand is the flashing guide from 2nd link: Do I have to install both versions? Recovery and Fastboot? And does anybody already have this ROM in use? Can it be just flashed over Global Weekly Beta?
Thanks for your responses!
Bye
have a try? Is it really Android version nougat?
@Renth You have to post this in original developer thread when it is just a noob question? It is completely fake news - don't post this crap here.
@jajk: Ok, then some mod will have to move this thread (or can I move it myself?). My knowledge also has been that there is no Android 6 resp.7 for RMN2. But why do you think it is fake?
Even MIUI Germany talks about it here.

We will not get Nougat or even Marshmallow officially ?
I admit the list is somewhat confusing since it also says:
Aktualisierte Geräte : ... Redmi Note 2 ...
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
=> Which means updatedd devices and:
Optimization - Android N update (02-20)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I admit it might mean that all listed devices got some updates but not all of them received Android N (was really suprised and could not believe it myself). Anyway I asked within the changelog thread.

{Problem} Running old apk on recent Android versions

Hi everyone!
I'm facing a "big little" problem with an custom made Android app. I don't have code skills so I don't know how to change the code of the appk.
The problem is something like this:
- Have an apk created a few years ago, with the API level 19 (android 4.4). It runs okay at all Android 4, 5 and 6 versions, but since android 7 I can't use it. Is an application that need root privileges to work properly.
There are any simple way to do something that allow me to run that apk on Android <=7 version?
Can't downgrade Android version because the stock version of my actual android phone is the 7.1, can't go lower than that.
Sorry if my question is not well explained, my English is not too great.
Thanks
Cheers.

Don't worry , your English is understandable
I don't think you can run older APK on a newer Android version. Because the API used in this app may be deprecated or something like that.
I'm not sure of the info I provided you here so if someone tell you the opposite , he may be right .

Upgrading CM9.1 on my i9100

Hi all,
Its time to upgrade Android 4.0.4 to a newer version.
Whats-app isn't working anymore and some other apps.
I would like to run it smoothly with all functions working correctly, especially GPS. So the latest android isn't needed i think.
I am thinking of CM12.1 (5.1) to start with. I know i have to resize my system partition and flash a compatible recovery.
But i can't find a step by step guide as this is a pretty old version. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
thanks
As far as I remember, you don't have to repartition until Android 6.
Also, Android 5 ROMs are quite outdated, and might contain several security vulnerabilities. I would recommend going for LineageOS 11 ROM (Android 4.4.4) by grzwolf here on XDA. It contains latest Android Security Patches. Here's a KitKat compatible recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79196916&postcount=230

Thanks for your advice. I should get this working.
However I see Gapps from 2016 have to be used. Will GMaps and the Play store update themselves to a new version after installation or will i get stuck with the old ones?

It seems like you need to flash ROM, boot into it, then reboot to recovery and flash latest OpenGApps, reboot again and then you should be able to sign in to the play store:

Hi,
To install a custom ROM, the ROM needs, indeed, to be compatible with your phone. People make the compatible by building them this way. When you talk about "Official Android", I assume you're talking about the Android Experience from the Pixel phones. There are some ROMs that reproduce very closely this experience (one of them is called Pixel Experience). Unfortunately this ROM isn't available for your phone.
What I found tho, is this article saying you can install Lineage OS 13 (Android 6) on your phone. Here it is :
https://www.getdroidtips.com/lineage-os-13-meizu-m5
Edit#1: the download link for the ROM is gone, and I didn't find any other ROMs for your phone. You can try to search yourself, it's super easy, just type " (name of the phone) custom ROMs " on Google.

Download the correct firmware from: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...a-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4003455/
Place it in the root directory of your SD Card and do a local upgrade via Settings > System > System updates > Cog Wheel > Local upgrade > point to firmware you downloaded.
@Hw4ng3r
Thank you for your reply. Do i have to do all updates in order ( 10.0.0.5, 10.0.0.6, 10.0.0.7 ... and so on) or does the last one 10.0.0.14 contain all previous updates? Does this update wipe my phone data or will i have everything left on it.
In case of update 10.0.0.14 there are 2 update files, do u know witch one is the last and witch one should i download?
Thank you

No you do not need to update in order. Just pick the latest version ( or version you want) and you're good to go.
The BA version apparently has two zips for the .14. One was what was available pre Feb 2021, and one that is there on the EU support site now. I'm not sure what has changed between the two versions though. Maybe someone else that knows more can comment on that.
Just be warned that if you do go Android 11 and want to come back to Android 10, you will need a data wipe to come back.
Thank you for your help!
I`m downloading now the .14 version from official website and doing the update.
Thanks again and topic can be closed if needed.
