This year's summit will focus on how we can work together to build a fully connected, intelligent world over the next 20 to 30 years, and how you, developers from all over the world, can be engaged and boosted with Huawei’s open ecosystem.
You are more than welcome to join Huawei executives and experts to explore:
How the global community can collaborate more closely and unlock the potential of information and communications technology to address uncertainty in the future
How sustained innovation can drive social progress
What actions are needed to grow the industry and build ecosystems that promote shared success for everyone involved
The summit will see Huawei's leading experts in disruptive technologies, explore key areas of growth and focus for Huawei from ecosystems to distributed OS.
You can have access to the full agenda here(https://www.huawei.com/en/press-events/events/has2020#), and the Live broadcast link will be alive once the event starts.
If you would like to go further into technical discussions, it is suggested that you can join us on the following days' summit where different Huawei business groups will discuss more on specific topics such as AI, 5G, and cloud capability. If you would like to attend these topic discussion summits, please make sure you RSVP (https://events02.huawei.com/HASRegister/register/963005777/register.html) by Wednesday, May 13th.
Interested? Stay tuned and we are looking forward to e-meeting you on HAS2020!
Any questions about this, please try to acquire your answers from HUAWEI Developer Forum.

Rooting exemption to the DMCA set to expire, EFF fights for permanent solution

Did you know that your right to root your Android phone is actually protected by U.S. copyright law? It’s true. In a 2010 revision to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the US Copyright Office granted an exemption that made modifying copyrighted software legal for the purposes of unlocking phones. This was mostly aimed at the iPhone (as Apple was trying to establish a legal precedent for suing its own customers at the time) but the exemption applies to any cell phone, including all Android phones sold in the United States. There’s just one problem: the exemption wasn’t permanent, and it’s set to expire later this year.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a lobbying group dedicated to Truth, Justice and protecting the rights of Internet users and electronics owners everywhere, isn’t down with that. They’re petitioning the Copyright Office to make the exemption permanent, and expand the definition to “personal computing devices”, neatly covering tablets, game consoles, PCs and almost anything else you can purchase at Best Buy. To help out, you can head over to their website and sign the petition, customizing your input for your own personal experience. Developers, academics, and plain old users are encouraged to send in their thoughts. Be quick about it, though: the application will close on February 10th.
You may be thinking that the DMCA and other restrictive copyright laws doesn’t apply to Android because it’s open source, unlike iOS. And in most respects, you’re right – except where it isn’t. All of Google’s applications (Gmail, YouTube, the Android Market) carrier and manufacturer apps, and many Market apps are published as closed-source, copyrighted programs. Even some of the lower-level functions that manufacturers bolt onto Android’s code are copyrighted and in some cases protected by patents. The exemption to the DMCA makes modification to any of those elements legal for the specific purpose of “unlocking” a phone, be it for use on another network or just to use custom software. Were the exemption to expire, any root or bootloader exploit used to run custom software could technically become illegal – and those who distribute modified code or the instructions for modifying it could face civil or criminal charges.
Rooting is one of the best parts of the Android ecosystem, for those who care to take part in it. Custom ROMs and many of the modifications we feature every week wouldn’t be possible on some hardware without it. Please take a few moments of your time to help the EFF in its efforts to keep phone and tablet modification free and legal in the United States.

Seems like while this may be a good idea, is not an allowed thread on XDA. I see this as breaking rules 11:
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,

[CLOSED] [Watchface] Got a special date? Add a countdown to your watchface (+ weather info)

Hi!
We've just uploaded a new watchface.
If you are waiting for a specific date like your wife birthday, your wedding anniversary or the NFL 2015 Kickoff, with this watchface you will be able to add the date and see how many days, hours, mins and seconds are left to that special moment comes.
Along with this, you will get weather information(current, max and minimum temperature for the day), and several colours for the seconds hand and the outer circle to choose from.
You can use the watchface without a date set also, and in this case the outside circle will tell you how much day is still left.
If you set a date, that circle will show you how much time is left until that moment.
Mod edit: Removed paid app link
I hope you like, we are all open to suggestions and improvements.

Dude... It cost money.
Aren't there commercial market places for you to advertise?
AdvertisEment is not appreciated here.
I'm not posting it here as a marketing forum or as an advertisement, I'm posting here because I love to get feedback from you and I'm eager to implement new features you guys can propose or would like to have in this app or in any other. (Like BTW, I've done in the past with other apps).
This isn't the first neither the last app on this forum which costs money. But come on, it is only a dollar (of which I would earn hardly 70 cents), you are supporting Android Wear development.
Everyone likes to have new watch faces and apps, I'm not a company who only works on that, I'm doing that on my free time, a little reward to keep on doing this things it is always welcomed.

Just a reminder about using the work of others
12. Sharing
XDA-Developers is based on the principle of sharing to transmit knowledge. This is the cornerstone of our site. Our members and developers freely share their experience, knowledge, and finished works with the rest of the community to promote growth within the developer community, and to encourage those still learning to become better. There are those, however, who take advantage of this model and try to make personal gains from the hard work of others.
In order to preserve the delicate balance between sharing for the good of the community and blatant self-promotion, regular members and developers alike must understand (and agree) to the following:
12-1. Give credits where due - Credits and acknowledgements for using and releasing work which is based on someone else's work are an absolute must. Works reported to have no credits will be taken down until proper acknowledgements are added by the member in question;
12-2. Courtesy - While most of the work released on our site falls under the umbrella of open source, that is not the only license model being used by developers on xda-developers. In order to prevent problems, we ask that if you decide to base your work on someone else's that you check the license model being used (as it might not be as permissive as one may think);
12-3. Re-releasing other's works as your own is forbidden. The code that you release into the wild must have something beyond minor aesthetic changes that makes it better than the last. As this can be subjective, kang reports will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If you feel that your code has been kanged, please contact the Dev Relations team (listed below) if you cannot solve the issue amicably via PM. Please understand that you will be asked to provide evidence to substantiate your claim;
12-4. Developers can issue take down requests (by contacting the Dev Relations team) under the following circumstances:
- in-process builds start showing up on forums when the developer is not yet ready to release the work;
- cases in which another developer is too aggressively soliciting donations or misrepresenting the work (kanging);
- unofficial builds where an official build is already available;
In summary, we want people to have access to work and knowledge alike. Sharing is good and courtesy and ethics go a long way.
Developers with questions, comments, complaints, or concerns about our rules (or anything!) should send a PM to our Dev Relations team (efrant or sykopompos) or to a Moderator. We are here to help!
