Hi all, - Huawei Developers

I have just bought my first Huawei phone. This is a Nova 5t model. Today I downloaded the Nike training app, I use this app for about 3 years, it was working well on Samsung. Now when I want to log in,after I added my loging details the app seems to frozen then asking quit, wait or send feedback.
So I am just wondering if you know any similar issue with Huawei? I am thinking to exchange for a Samsung A51 instead if I cannot solve this issue.
Can I trust in Huawei? I have no any experience with this brand.
Thanks

[Q] Omate X and Truesmart

Hi, I initially got the Truesmart through kickstarter and then went on to get Omate X. Hardly used the Truesmart as it did not work with IOS, could only use it as a standalone. Similar situation with Omate X, got excited yesterday when read a thread of an IOS app so I synced it and found something wrong with the Day on the date, tried sync on/off but same result, is it just me ? (pic attached)
Also how do I install app on Truesmart other than ostore ? I am thinking of using it as a remote viewfinder with a wifi camera like go pro or sony, etc.
Any advise ?

Gave up Omate....No support, my SD card which I order during Kickstart is still not sent to me. Wrote to them and asked me write to their support. Asked for order detail which I compiled many times for them but still no action. The charger is also malfunction but they refuse to rectify for me and you also cannot buy as they told me they got no stock and not sure when they will stock it. Hopeless vendor.

Everyone gave up on Omate long ago. So many unfulfilled promises. It's a miracle they still manage to sell watches to uninformed consumers.

Does the Barclays banking app work on stock?

Hello wonderful folks of XDA Developers.
I haven't posted here in a while. I was once all about rooting and custom ROMs but I've sadly not got the time to play with my phone any more.
Anyways - I need to know if anybody in the UK can use the Barclays Banking app on their Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. I personally have the Elephone P9000 and if you spend a minute in that forum you'll find that the devs at Elephone haven't signed off the ROM with the correct keys (whatever that means!) so the security test for Android Pay fails (CTS profile mismatch error)
My Mother-in-Law is looking at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 at the moment and really needs this app to work - apparently so important she'll not get the phone if it doesn't work and will instead get a more common brand phone (and miss out on the great spec that this offers for its price range!)
So - does the Barclays Banking app work on a stock Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?
Thanks!
Well, your mother-in-law probably bought a different phone by now, but no harm in answering. And the answer is no, at least I haven’t managed so far. I keep getting the CTS mismatch error even on un-rooted un-Xposed stock ROM. I don’t know why though. I think that the stock ROM has the correct user keys, so I’m still figuring out why. When I tried to run Barclays Mobile App it crashed, although I’m not in the UK so I had to download it from a third-party website which could also be factor. Anyway, some apps that require SafetyNet can still work on stock ROM, so if your mother-in-law would prefer to play Pokemon GO instead of using the banking app, this device is perfect.

Weird "onreceive()" popup

I just got a replacement device from Verizon and I'm getting a weird popup that says "onreceive()" seemingly whenever I uninstall or disable an app. My old phone did not do this. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I googled it and all that popped was a bunch of coding sites and something about broadcasting.
my Note 5 has been doing it to me running Nougat. Glad I found someone else with the issue. It does it after i Install anything from the playstore/galaxy apps store
Got a replacement s9 plus from Verizon as well a few days ago and I too have this ???
There is another user on a Reddit forum who had same issue as I did with the onreceive popup at first installation and they have a Motorola. So I'm thinking it's a global issue.
Sounds like another app or something causing it perhaps. I don't see this on my Telus S9+
Not discounting the issue at all, but it's definitely not a universal one

Honor 8X Max Google Play Store issue

Just got my new Honor 8X Max in the mail and it's the chinese version (I'm living in Europe). The model number is ARE-AL00. I got the GMS installer and the Google Installer v2 and now I can open the play store, but I can't use it to install or uninstall apps, it just gets stuck on the "(un)installing" screen. When I try to install the Play store from a separate apk I usually get a program which I can't even open. And I've tried this with and without the software update. If anyone has got the Play store working on this phone I'd love to know how you did it.
Overall I'm pretty upset with this phone. I didn't realize I was getting the Chinese version and of course it comes with all kinds of censorship and ability restrictions, I spend like 10 hours trying to figure out how to root it and it turns out Huawei decided to make unlocking the bootloader impossible only a few months ago and funkyhuawei (with their insane prices) can't even do anything for a Qualcomm chipset so I'm S.O.L. I don't think the Chinese company I bought from will give a refund after the box is opened so I'm basically out my $300 if I want another phone. I was excited to be getting such great hardware for such a low price but the lack of functionality and customizability makes it a complete waste.

Same situation here, here is what I did to get Play Store works on my Honor 8X :
- Turn on the "Authorize unknown source apps install thing"
- Install GMS installer to get the Play Store works
- Install Gboard to get rid of the chinese keyboard everywhere.
But still, I'm searching for the Global Firmware and according to a Honor / Huawei Customer Agent, they do not allow firmware downloads anymore.
Hope this can help other people in the same case...

Thanks a lot for the help. My more-tech-savvy friend encouraged me to use F-droid and Yalp and that has been working fine so I'm going to give that a try before insisting on getting Google back...I emailed Huawei customer support about unlocking the bootloader and received an interesting response:
"We kindly inform you that in order to achieve a better user experience, Huawei has decided to terminate the unlock code application service. If your device is already rooted, we inform you that it no longer counts with warranty or device support.
Also, Huawei USA does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader under any circumstance. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the device or in other words, renders the device completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader will affect your device."
I'm emailed Huawei USA just cause I'm American (living in Sweden though), but this response suggests that maybe if I email Huawei Sweden or China that they will give me one? Gonna give it a try and see what happens.
Also my original post may have been a bit reflexive, I need to give this phone a chance. I remember thinking my last phone (Galaxy S5) was pretty stupid for a few weeks, I eventually just got over it.

Yes the camera is good quality from what I can tell and the battery life is great. But it is a huge phone, if you don't want something so big then you should probably get the 8X instead of the 8X Max.

This is my very own guide on how to download Play Store on Honor 8X: https://www.oscrunch.com/2018/11/17/google-play-store-on-honor-8x-and-8x-max/
I guess you will have to use a different version of GMS installer. Also, this process requires you to install one more application.
Try this and let me know how it goes. It should work perfectly fine.

Yes, you nailed It!
Speaking for myself, I can say that Today I'm a happy owner of a Chinese Honor 8X, but in the past I was in trouble because I was not able to find the *right* version of GSM installer that fits to me (JSN-AL00a).
It was hard to clear all those Chinese apps from my device, but now I have a very strong phone with a high level of performance.

That's my pleasure Glad that this guide has helped.
I had issue on installing Google play. Package installer block me from installing gmsinstaller.apk. what you do to get around it is thru adb. Make sure that you turn off "monitor app install by adb" in developer option or it won't work. If you need more detail let me know.
Hi
Now my honor 8x max has all Google App work fine
Thx dude

Cheers!

Try this
1.Tap 7-8 times on build number it will enable developers option
2.Go to developers options
3.Enable USB debugging
4.Disable Monitor apps installed by ADB
5. use adb install -r MyApp.apk
your apk will be installed.
Thanks @miststudent2011
I eventually managed to get Google Play installed and working (thanks UsamaM). Please see my steps on that page: https://www.oscrunch.com/2018/11/17/google-play-store-on-honor-8x-and-8x-max/#comment-65

Some one help me why my phone is failed to verification honor 8x max

Lineage 18.1 - will that let me run Lastpass?

Hi,
I lost my Samsung S9, so my parents gave me a new LG G5 phone as a replacement. Still in box with all the screen protector, wrappers, etc. because they already had a phone at the time and never ended up using it. So it's basically a brand new phone, with an ancient Oreo Android 8.0 OS. It's a zippy phone, and it's lovely to have a battery sit at 100% for hours on standby (whereas my daily-use Samsung S9 would drop to 99% after a 15 minutes of standby)
All would be fine, except there's two apps I use that need Android 10 - DUO authenticator (which I need for work) and Lastpass.
So I started looking into upgrading the OS, and found these forums. I'd be fine with switching to a custom ROM, but have a few questions:
What custom mod would you recommend for someone merely looking for Android 10 compatibility? I've read that one can lose hardware functionality with custom roms...what are the "known issues"?
Does anyone know whether Lastpass or DUO install on these custom roms?
I'm also happy for someone to just send me a link somewhere that can answer these questions!
Thanks!

Which G5 are you talking about?
If it's a new H850 the bootloader is not any longer unlockable as LG ceased that service.
My unlocked H850 did loose only FM (didn't find any app working with it) and is working fine with lineage-18.1-20220320-nightly-h850-signed.
Don't know about DUO but Lastpass shouldn't care about a non-stock ROM.
Btw did you hear/read about the Lastpass security breach? Wouldn't trust them any longer.
Agree with that last statement. They have been caught lying and half-truths since the hack/breach so I would ditch them to another service and now change your passwords.
Hi, thanks for the replies. But I've solved the problem by getting a used Samsung S20.
But I'm still curious about updating my LG-G5 phone (H831) to make it somewhat software-compatible. I guess my question was more about what Android version is equivalent to Lineage-18.1 . DUO and Lastpass needed Android 10, and I don't know what version of Android Lineage-18.1 (or any of the other custom roms) are branched from.
As for choice of password manager, what are y'all using? I need an Android, iPhone, and web client.
Looks like I can't even consider a modded rom .
I found a post that says:
H831 = Canadian market. Bootlocked. Can't be rooted.

I'm using Keepass and used to have the database on my AVM attached NAS (accessible from via mobile as well).
Now I've switched to store that on an online-storage of my mail provider where I have read/write access as well.
Using either Keepass2android on my android devices and Keepass2 on my Linux Mint 21 system.
Quite easy to configure and always working.
There should be an app for Iphone available which can work with kdbx files.
