Suspicious app update in MIUI 11.0.8 stock ROM - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
Got a notification for an app update with Chinese characters. The description doesn't give out much info. It doesn't give me an option to uninstall. All i can do is Update the app. I am not able to search for this app on the google play store.
If i had my apps on auto-update, probably would have missed this.

Edit:
An update, this app seems to be Mi Mover. But on my phone it comes up in chinese. Though I cannot uninstall this app. Guess its time for ROOT or custom ROM.
Thanks in advance.

It's a system app update for Xiaomi MI Key (Mikey).. Google it for more info.

Tried to find Mi key app on play store. could not find it. Though googling it gave an interesting info about how helpful it is. Anyways the screenshot which i tried to attach, had an icon the same as Mi Mover and the same description. On the web version of playstore i could find this in English.
But what was confusing when I received the notification was, the app name and the description was completely in Chinese and I didnt have any other option to select the permissions or uninstall. (But guess that goes for all the apps in-built with MIUI)

its Mi Mover

Mi mover. Not suspicious. It's on the playstore

I guess every chinese app is suspicious.

Poco have many suspicious system apps. Many are not removeable even by root access. I am thinking of installing a custom Rom to get rid of These apps. Some are even more suspicious than normal bloatware. Guys u should also look into a way to get rid of them ASAP.

<UPDATE> Tried everything to remove pesky little apps of miui But no luck even with root access
Apps Used titanium backup , es filr explorer ,twrp, system apps remover etc etc
No luck Kindly help me out

According to the translation of the screenshot you have attached; it's a Mi Key system app update.
And for the icon I think miui developers was too lazy -as always- to find new one.
Moreover, most of miui system apps are not on Google play for ex. ( themes, scanner, screen recorder,... etc.), that's why they have their own system updater in the phone settings and that's the only way to update these system apps.
Anyway, it's a system app update.. So, no need to worry.
Cheers

Please let me know if you are successful with any custom rom.

No need to update anything if everything is working fine. Why are people interested in getting new bugs?

Using custom rom helped me by getting rid of these apps But my phone doesn't performed as good as in MiUi.

All credits go to lastword112 who figured out the way to get the new update from the Market. Thanks a lot for the original thread.
Now, I give you the bare apk file, install as a normal application.
DOWNLOAD - mirror
* It can also be installed along with the older version that came with the phone, it will not replace it. It works for devices with unlocked bootloaders too.
If you prefer to get the app yourself, directly from the Market, you need to install the app Market Access
(unless you live in Sweden, in which case, this thread is not that useful to you to begin with )
Launch Market Access and set custom country code: 24003.
Then open Market and search for "trackid".
ENJOY!!!

She has already uploaded the apk!! Well you need root access, then download something like market enabler, use 24003 in the set custom option. You can Chrome to phone this link to your device and open it via market. :Market Link for TrackID™
It gives an error when it tries to identify the track.
Error. Try again later. [4009]

I used it on WiFi, bootloader unlocked, stock 4.0.2.

There is some problem with the service, sometimes there are errors, try again after a couple of minutes, like i said there are still bugs that need to be fixed.

Moved it to /system/app, renamed it to trackid.apk, but still no luck with FB Likes.
So, not working for unlocked bootloaders.
EDIT: However, you can like from the TrackID app itself after it successfully recognizes the song.
hope to like music on default music player for the next update. thanks
Facebook Likes stop working after bootloader unlock permanently, nothing you can do about it.

Yeah works if you go to bottom of page and click on create Oppo ID
After the online registration could you guys normally confirm your password an install apps?
It doesn't word on my phone. It always says that my password is wrong
Do you know what could be wrong? I already changed the password....
I'm having the same problem too. It only work one time after the registration, now everything I signed in, it wouldn't work.
If you go to this page, it says your account have 3 loopholes. I think it might be an email that needs to be bind to the phone number/ID. The problem is the email has to be a Chinese one...like QQ mail, which I can't register without a china phone number.

Did you try to install install an app from a different file manager other than the stock one?
Sent from my PAFM00 using Tapatalk
No,I like to prevent obstacles, not create them. The stock one works. So why fix it if it ain't broke?
Did you install the other file manager before or after you signed up with the Oppo ID. Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall
I understand the concept"if it ain't broken, don't fix it". More option is always better to me. using a different file manager is not the only problem. It won't let you update an app that you install from a third party source, such as non Google play. Ex. I installed "show box" that I got from the web, it works fine. But when there is an update to the app, you cannot update it because it will ask for the oppo id. So you are stuck with an older version. Another example would be" aptoid". You cannot install any app from there.
Sent from my PAFM00 using Tapatalk
Those are hacked apps thats why. Try changing the settings for Google Play store to just "allow" rather than "ask"
I have the problem for example with the Amazon App Store. Does anybody have the same problem too? Is there a way to find a solution here?

A new update for P40 lite is on the way

Huawei P40 Lite, update version 10.1.0.226, has started to be distributed for European (C432) devices.
Update content; Latest latest security patch (June)
Update size: 719 MB

How Does Huawei Update System Work?
It reaches only one percent of active devices in the first 24 to 48 hours after an update is released. This is to enable Huawei to monitor and check device errors initially. Planned updates are done within one to two weeks. And it may take up to 8 weeks, so even if it is announced that the update will be distributed / started to be distributed, you may not see your device yet, this is completely normal!

Hi.
I have P40 Lite (10.1.0.206) got Google apps working, and turned of auto updates.
Is there anybody out there that has been updating while Google apps is installed?
Dont want to mess it up when everything is working fine.
Its a nice phone when Google Apps is present.
Pretty useless at least for me without it.
Cant use Chromecast, access my contacts etc.

Been using P40 Lite with gapps installed. Installing every update that comes to it aswell. No problems so far :good:

Hi.
Yes i did upgrade to 10.1.0.226 after installing Google Apps.

The only differense now is supposed to be the date/year issue.
You are aware of that? And set language to english during installation.
Thanks.

I actually upgrated to 10.1.0.226 BEFORE installing Google Apps.
Then I did a factory reset of the phone.
Then I've just managed to install Google Apps following the latest method described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fTIZFehwlw
It now asks me to do a minor "system parameter update": can this break the google apps or is it safe to do it?
Tx a lot again!

Poco F1 After 11.0.9 update(Not MiUi12) dialer not opening.

Apologies guys as this may be a very small problem with very small solution but somehow I spent over an hour trying to make it work but I couldn't. This phone is on stock MiUi and even the bootloader is not unlocked. Elaboration:
1. Before update dialer functioned okay, I had restricted maybe one or two permissions like Location but still it worked.
2. After Update I got to know google had my location history 'on' so being a privacy freak I turned it 'off' (I know they can still get the location, but atleast not where I was 6months ago now).
3. I didn't find any other issue post update but I hadn't tried to open dialer yet;
When I tried it said required permission has been not allowed and it just wouldn't open. Sms app worked fine, contacts and dialer didn't.
4. Them I tried giving the 'contacts & dialer' app all the permissions it required via the settings ->apps-> Contacts & dialers -> permissions, including the location which is I haven't allowed on my other Poco F1(yes I have 3 at home, all purchased before COVID time) and the same update was already on that phone and it works fine.
For now I have a third party dialer app installed which does the work, it would be very helpful if someone could help me getting the original dialer to work. And yes I know Mi sucks with things like this and bloatware I might install Lineage or something in months to come but this belongs to my father he might not want his phone to be unable to operate banking apps and wallets so on hold for now.
Thanks already guys.
Not sure but try to clear all data of the "contacts and dialer" app first (Settings -> apps -> manage apps -> contacts and dialer).
If it doesn't work then I suggest you re-download the latest update and install it again. (Settings -> about phone -> system update -> the three dots menu -> download latest package).

Go to "menage apps" -> "phone services" and force stop it. Then Open "storage" and clear the data.. Then do the same in "call manager" (i think thats the name in inglish). The 2 apps haver a phone símbolo. Then restart you Poco F1. Turn it completly off and turn ir on again.
Worked with me..
You have disabled a required permission. Tried what both of you suggested above except for reinstalling the update. Not resolved

First of all downloading the latest package is just the same as installing a normal update, no difference at all.
Second, I think to avoid all this hassle; you might need to do factory default/factory reset.. But of course before doing that you have to write down all your accounts login data (especially Mi account and Google account) and also backing up your personal data (photos, docs, music, videos downloads,...etc.) as it will be deleted when you do this factory reset.. But this will eventually solve all these problems.

I was hoping to avoid Factory Reset, and all the efforts and time associated with doing it but I'm being sure by the days that pass, of there being no other alternative for me. I'm so fed up of Xiaomi after this. Once a stable Lineage or PE comes after MiUi 12 upgrade I'll lose no time to this. Also out of 4 phones in my home 3 are Poco F1 and the last one was Lenovo zuk till Feb and Vivo since, but non Mi phone doesn't get as many ads on YT and Instagram (virtually none on insta when I get one ad every 10-15posts, despite of having not allowed similar permission to Mi during setting up of my phone).
So I spent good time backing up and reloading after factory reset. The problem is solved costing me alot of time and effort for backup and stuff.
So basically problem solved by a factory reset.

I am on EUEX in the UK and have successfully installed Oppo App Market which is only on Chinese phones. I have attached for those that want it. I turned off app auto updates and just use it to update oppo apps routinely and let Google play manage everything else. Seems to be working ok.

Ok
After install comes a english version up.
Then he brings some updates.
He update the Market self and brings some new "apps/modules" in system.
After them my device cant login in oppo service.
Then i see after starting updatet market app there dont stop full traffic on my mobil internet connection.
I must deinstall the updatet market app and i think3or 4 modules/apps.
After them i can login my device in oppo service.
So i think i must reinstall my System.

Ok i understand
I can say what was my experience with the app
And my feeling say its not real oppo Market.
But this is my personal impression
I dont have start a traffic Analyse
Problem with connection fail to oppo service was enough for me.
And the System changes comes only with this update from market self.
And playstore dont sent this change files.
Have anybody a source for this english version app market?
Best regards
